Not really comparable. Pre-elite guard is with 2 mid range and no long range and revenant with one long range and no mid range. Personally I’d rather have one long range and no mid range.
If someone bursts you, you will have to change your legend to truly heal yourself, unless of course you have ventari which is even worse in a situation like that.
Yeah, you would basically NEVER run ventari if you are running Shiro because then you would basically have no real full heal.
It actually will have a 1/2s cast time in the iteration you all get to play, the video didn’t have the latest version.
You have to hit so there is play to it, but the reward is high as it’s good added spike as well as healing.
I like the idea of it, deal damage as you siphon life. But I think the cooldown is a bit high, for a skill with such a high risk to it, I think 30 seconds CD isn’t that good.
Switch legend and use the other heal skill. problem solved.
I don’t really think that’s a good answer to this. Lowering the cd is probably a better idea.
I’m not crazy about the heal either. I wish it gave you a bit of an upfront heal and then did the siphoning thing. Though I suppose you can always switch to another legend for a heal.
question / suggestion
1) now that half of Empty Vessel’s functionality has been made baseline, and
2) empty vessel is the GM minor trait in the class mechanic specialization line, and
3) all the core classes’s classs-mechanic spec improves the class mechanic (via cooldowns, etc)please consider adding the following to the Empty Vessel trait:
~reduces cooldown of Legend Stance Swapping by 20%in other words, please let us swap legends a couple seconds sooner if we spec into Invokations?
I like this suggestion. Anet, make it happen.
Overall a few tweaks. Ventari’s will should probably just be instant instead of having a cast time. It would also be nice if we had the tablet summons upon switching to ventari. Jalis skills could use some more survivability. This is supposed to be a more tanky stance as you’ve noted several times Anet, but it lacks this so far.
Yay for weapon swap!
Ah thank you so much for adding some damage modifiers to the Invocation line. And thanks SO much for listening to all our feedback about how low the damage felt on Revenant. I look forward to Shiro and trying out a condi spec again next beta.
One thing though, I REALLY think the ventari tablet needs to be auto summoned when you switch to Ventari. That would make it feel less clunky.
Already necros are complaining. -_-
Thank god, revs really did need that weapon swap. TY so much for listening Roy.
Yeah, I haven’t crashed or anything but I have noticed extreme lag at teq lately. I never used to be so laggy at teq.
what was nerfed on it? my bow hits like a truck…
It’s not that LB was nerfed (even though the power coefficient was lowered on LB2 without any patch note about it…) it more has to do with Remorseless. If your not familiar with it it lowered the coll down of the next weapon skill you use after you swap weapons in combat. Previously the meta (read organized dungeon/fractal builds) was LB/SA opening with LB2 LB5 then swapping to sword and auto attacking while Axe 4ing off cooldowns (being mindful of defiance). Now with Remorseless the meta has become to replace LB with GS and swapping weapons on CD. This provides tons of remorseless pros as well as the fury (and thus another opening strike) on swap. Making the ideal rotation being GS2 swap Axe 4 auto till CD Axe 4 auto till swap, GS2 GS3, maybe GS5, GS2 off CD, swap and repeat. While swapping pets between jungle stalker and jaguar on CD to provide quickness.
So what is the truth? I keep hearing some people say the remorseless GS/Sword/axe, but then I hear that predator’s onslaught with LB/Sword/axe is better. I suppose it doesn’t really matter as I’m not a min max type and I’ll play whichever I prefer so long as the damage is good. Still it would be nice to hear what the answer is.
Yay, thank god. I hope there is a BWE not far off. I’m dying to get my hands on the Shiro legend.
Engies are not high health.
…
We have the same HP as Guardian. With far less self defense.
….thats not true
with revenant we have:
Ele Thief and Guard as low HP Classes
Revenant, Mesmer and Engineer as medium HP Classes
Warrior Necro and Ranger as High HP Classes
but doenst matter right now cause Revenant needs a lot of work right now.
That is incorrect. Rangers are a medium health class, not a high hp class. I think that’s why people are surprised revenants are not high health. There are so many medium hp classes now.
But this is beta, we are here to give Anet feedback. The fact that there are no good damage traits or modifiers in any of the non-power traitlines is a problem. Either Shiro must be grossly OP to make up for that or they are going to need to put that damage somewhere.
One consideration on the DPS question…
Where are people doing their testing? I’ve been running around Cursed Shore and finding the DPS reasonable, but I’ve heard that downlevelling is particularly harsh for revs at the moment.
Silverwastes, since the mobs there are a bit more challenging than most of what’s in Orr. I can solo escorts and vet events on any other class, but on the rev, I’m either dying horribly, or it takes a small eternity to kill anything. I realize I’m new to the class and could probably be playing it smarter, but even still, the damage output shouldn’t be this abysmal. Combined with the lackluster utils, minimal CC, nonexistent mobility, and godawful cast times, I feel more like a paperweight with pretty particle effects than a useful contributor to the map.
I went SW too and also had a lot of trouble with the escorts. Once again, on my ranger I have no issues and blow the mobs up quickly. On the revenant it’s just too slow and I die or the bull dies and time runs out before I can kill the mobs and rez the bull. Idk, does anyone have any advice for a good setup to take these mobs out quickly?
One consideration on the DPS question…

I’ve been going there and I’ve noticed alot of other revs going there too. The damage feels low. I have been closely watching all revs fighting and they definitely take longer to kill things. I quickly jumped on my ranger and necro to compare and they blew the revenant away. -_- Went both zerk and condi and was just not feeling the damage.
It is a useful tool. But it’s situational and not meant to just be spammed like so many are doing. I try to only use it if I am alone or if it’s actually necessary. For instance, I was with 2 others fighting a husk champion and he kept downing one poor ele. This ability was useful for moving him off the downed person so we could rez him. Of course, I’m not sure it’s supposed to work with champions like that, but it was very helpful in that case.
Again, careful what you ask them to fix or change . . . you may just get it.
As we have seen here. lol. People asked for healing spring to work with trapper runes. Well, they got what they asked for.
I just want HS back to the old functionality. You can still label it a trap, hell you can even keep the silly arming time, just make the rest behave like old HS and heal our pets and condi cleanse or regen at full health like it used to.
I disagree, I actually like the road animation for inspiring reinforcement.
I was not in favor of the trap idea, but when they first introduced it as a trap it wasn’t bad to use. It didn’t feel clunky or anything. So I decided to give it a shot. But yeah, I’m not using it now. I went with heal as one.
30 minutes? Try almost 2 hours. Because that’s about how much in advance you had to show up to Teq on JQ in those days. Especially because of all the guesters. It’s a hell of a lot better now. And teq is pretty easy nowadays. I mean he should go 30 minutes ahead of time just in case, but I’ve been on maps with only 15 minutes to Teq. TT is another story entirely. Which is why I mentioned those organized groups.
I’m confused, with the mega servers you should almost always find populated instances for world bosses. Unless you are showing up the very moment it spawns….and even then you should still be fine if it’s one of the easier ones. It was MUCH worse for people before the megaservers. The more sparsely populated servers had a hard time with the more difficult bosses like teq (hell, they sometimes failed some of the easier ones too because they didn’t have enough people) and to get onto the high pop servers like JQ and BG you needed to show up well in advance or you would be stuck in an overflow with no world boss (unless you were really lucky and one happened to spawn, but in those days the bosses in the overflows were not synced up with the real servers boss events). The megaservers are a blessing.
Anyway, what bosses are you looking to do? If it’s teq you need to get there a bit early because that actually takes some organization. If it’s triple trouble you will need to find an organized group like TTS, Att, EG, etc. if you want all the achievements.
Revenant must have a viable damage spec. I’m not sure why anyone would argue against this. If the only thing revenant is good for is support then it’s not going to be all that popular a class in the PVE scene. In order to make up for what is lacking in the other traitlines, Shiro will have to be very OP and I’m not so sure that’s a good idea. Either that or Anet will have to think of a way to put that extra damage somewhere…
I have to agree and I don’t think it’s a l2p issue. Most other classes have all sorts of damage modifiers or really great damage traits in the non-power trait lines. Revenant, on the other hand, is very underwhelming in this regard. Either Anet needs to work on that or Shiro has to be REALLY kitten good to make up for this.
This is why you should not loot on your revenant, nor should you throw things into the mystic toilet. Only utter despair lies down those paths.
Must agree with Windu, I like LB just the way it is and would hate to see this change. I’m sure there are better ways of making sb more viable than this.
It’s quite simple, because that is what is fair. More effort equals more reward in some way. Would I do the content anyway? Probably. I do TT everyday afterall and we all know the rewards are terrible. But even TT gives you a title for a triple decap. When Marionette was around I did that everyday as well, despite not being interested in the loot. You are honestly going to begrudge someone some small reward? Seriously? It’s not like we’re asking for some tier of gear beyond ascended that’s only obtainable through the hard content. Because that would be unfair and not in the spirit of GW2.
(edited by xarallei.4279)
Well there definitely should be better rewards for harder content. Greater the effort should give a greater reward. Doesn’t have to be much, something like exclusive skins and new titles. So I would expect a hard mode version of bosses to give something.
You were the most vocal here for the bugged, pug-unfriendly Teq, and now you want better rewards for doing a hardmode version if they ever implement that? What happened to having something fun to do in an organized setting? Which also boiled down to having more zerkers/reflects and standing at a certain spot. Easiest attainable farm-status ever, just exclude the casuals from the map. Sorry, but those are the bread and butter of this game and the master is well aware of it.
Sorry, but pugs were killing teq more and more often towards the end. They just needed to learn. That fight was not hard, even when it was bugged. Which is something I said. Multiple times. It’s a medium difficulty fight in the end and not supposed to be faceroll, but it’s not supposed to be super hard either so that pugs can kill it if they get organized. It is not a “hard mode” fight. For a true hard mode fight like what we are proposing with a guild summon hard version of a boss, yes you bet your kitten it should have better rewards. It’s a slap in the face to not reward greater effort in some way. And no, Anet more health is not hard mode. More mechanics is what we need. And it wouldn’t have to be something massive, like I said….titles or some skins would probably be fine.
I’m disappointed in the current teq because it’s not even medium difficulty now, it’s faceroll easy. Which makes it very boring. I guess we’ll have to live with it until Anet gives us something more interesting in HoT.
Oh and please stop equating casuals with farmers or facerollers. They are not one and the same. There are plenty of casual players who want harder content.
edit: Anet it would be really awesome if you allowed us to summons special hard mode bosses in our guild halls. It would be a fun way for guilds to do content together. This might be a great way to bring back Marionette somehow. That’s still a favorite of mine.

No, that’s not really a good compromise. We need real content to do and Anet needs to address this in HoT by giving us more difficult world bosses and/or an elite zone. Or give us guild summons for a hard mode version of world bosses. The current state of things is terrible.
It’s true, I have seen people make comments that say that skimpy armor should not exist in game. Some of these people do not want to even see something they don’t like. How dare we want to wear something they don’t approve of?! I literally had someone on reddit insult me for saying that we should have choices. Anet has always been about providing choices for people. There should be BOTH practical/realistic sets and skimpy options.
Hey all, I’m looking into these!
Heal As One – Does not give regen and swiftness when Resounding Timbre is traited. Please look into this as well. Thanks
That’s odd. I get both regen and swiftness with We Heal as One and shouts traited. Not sure why it would work for some and not for others.
And another note about healing spring, sometimes it gets dropped because people want the regen. But now we can’t do that either. Please revert this change or fix this bug. Bring back the old healing spring.
Wonderful, teq is STUPIDLY easy again. -_-
Really Anet, can’t you adjust it properly instead of going too far one way or another? Please? Teq should not be as easy kittenterer.
It’s medium difficulty and that is perfectly fine, go solo champions around Tyria if Teq is too easy for you, you will probably have more fun.
This WB should be accessible to everyone.
It’s not even medium difficulty. It’s complete faceroll. I was incredibly disgusted by it last night. This boss is not supposed to be easy like the other bosses. We had the kitten thing down in 13 Minutes and change.
And I’m in a large organized guild. We like to do things together. Right now the only large scale boss that gives even a tiny bit of challenge is TT. That’s it. Anet needs to address this problem and create more bosses like Marionette and TT. Or give us some way to spawn a hard mode version of bosses.

I really hate it and hope this is a bug. Sometimes I just want a kitten condi cleanse. I was pleasantly surprised when it was first made into a trap because it went off in a decent amount of time and decided to keep using it. Now I won’t.
Why on earth did you change HS to not trigger when standing on it at full HP? This is a terrible change and I seriously hope it’s a bug. What if I’m at full health but want a condi cleanse? If we aren’t traited wilderness then we don’t have a lot of choices for condi cleanse. Please change this back. Also, please let it properly heal our pets like it used to.
You guys said you were going to make things up to us with traps since you added an arming time, but HS is worse than it was before.
And if this occurred because of the fix to make it work with trapper runes, I would prefer you change it back. This is makes this heal not worth using.
(edited by xarallei.4279)
Yeah, my pet still doesn’t get it.
(edited by xarallei.4279)
Yeah, the color seems off too. Not as bright. I don’t like these changes at all personally.
Wonderful, teq is STUPIDLY easy again. -_-
Really Anet, can’t you adjust it properly instead of going too far one way or another? Please? Teq should not be as easy kittenterer.
You can wear your hyper realistic armor, there is plenty of it in this game. But there should be choices for those of us who do not like so-called practical armor in a fantasy game.
I have a bank guild and buy the influence with no issues. The real issue will be in HoT when you will no longer be able to buy influence (or whatever the currency will be). Not sure what small guilds/one person bank guilds will do.
The weird thing is in those guild hall live streams Anet seemed to say that they felt the buying of influence helped the big guilds get ahead, but this is not really true. Big guilds SWIM in influence. They don’t need to buy it. It’s the small guilds/bank guilds that need those influence scrolls because they don’t have the members to help generate influence.
I don’t really agree with this change. I do think the downscaling needed some work, but they overdid it. A full ascended level 80 should always have better stats than a lowbie when down-leveled. They should also kill things faster than a lowbie. You’re supposed to feel some sense of accomplishment and progression when you achieve these things, this severe downscaling ruins that feeling.
I’d say don’t just stick with bow. Start getting a good feel for your melee weapons. Try out sword/axe and your greatsword. Also, I didn’t use a bear leveling up I chose a cat because things die more quickly. I didn’t find the kitty too squishy so you should be fine. Just make sure to swap out your pets when their health is running low.
You guardians really shouldn’t be asking for a nerf for your elite. O_O You realize Anet will nerf it so that it really unviable. I mean sure some of you are saying “make it a 45 second cd” which seems reasonable, but knowing Anet they will make it much higher. I’m kind of shocked and wonder whether the people calling for nerfs are guardian mains. I’m not even a guard main (ranger here) and I don’t think your elite needs a nerf.
We have a thread about this already:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/WoodenPotatoes-Re-Tough-Content/
Mods might want to merge this there.
Asking for variety should not be so opposed.
Male-oriented armor needs to be at least 30% egregious codpieces. This is important.
For variety.
Hey, if that’s what people want then put it in. Male armor needs more skimpy. lol.
Bring on the skimpy male armor.
That is simply not true. I’ve been on pug maps that have succeeded organizing in map chat. Others have had the same experience. It’s not just big guilds succeeding with teq.
We can have both practical/realistic armor AND skimpy stuff. There is no reason to not have both. And before someone mentions immersion I’ll point out the bunny ears, quaggan back packs, bear hats and bows that shoot rainbow unicorns.
