How do you intend to exclude it from support?

erm? you publish a statement that every player is using p2p trading at their own risk and anet is neither responsible nor will offer support when the player makes a bad trade due to lack of attention? a bit obvious, isn’kitten

snip

the mail system is not a trade system. a trade system holds the items/gold until both players agree to the trade through a button press.

^Scamming impossible, just like in GW1 which employed a P2P trading window, with the safety measures you mentioned. Right.

if both players agreed to it it’s not a scam. it’s a trade. if one player isn’t paying attention and the other player takes advantage of it it’s the first players problem and fault.

Yes and people have issues paying attention and that creates a problem for customer support, which is unwanted. There is no reason to RE-implement a system where it is possible to scam others. The system was the root of the problem. Eliminating the possibility of scamming is a win for everyone.

exclude p2p trading from support. done.
your whole line of argumentation is totalitarian. i reject your premise that every idiot that can’t look out for him-/herself needs to be protected by a centralized superordinate power to keep him or her out of harms way.
the existence of the tp is obviously a necessity but i would very much like to have an alternative, unregulated market with all the personal interaction inherent to p2p trade.

risky? probably.
your own kitten responsibility? absolutely.

i am still actively trading in gw1. although it’s not as comfortable as the tp the interaction, the haggling and the inherent risk are factors that make it a lot more fun than flipping on the tp.
also it’s generally more difficult to trade in a game that has only a very small fraction of it’s original playerbase so you can’t really compare the trade volume of gw1 and gw2.

p2p trading wouldn’t have any risks attached to them (at least for people who pay attention) if there was a p2p trading system like a simply trade window in which both players have to confirm their transaction. yes, here and there people who don’t pay attention at all would be scammed but that’s their fault. however, as simple as it would be to implement such a system (i bet nowadays ever 12 year old kid knows how to program such a thing) it will never happen because anet needs to remove gold from the economy through tp taxes to counter inflation (not that i would work, but kudos for trying).

i’d actually love to see a black market flourish.

Auric Basin Loot "Exploit" [merged]

Its fine. Your ability to loot chests is primarily controlled by your ability to acquire keys, not your access to the chests. No amount of alts or taxis will allow you to farm up those keys any faster. Switching map instances only allows you to use them up faster, requiring you to spend an increased amount of time getting more.

In fact, the player that does not multiloot ends up with a virtually identical loot payout compared to time spent playing content in auric basin in the long term.

you can buy keys for aurillum. this applies to players who don’t need it anymore for collection stuff or people who don’t care about collection stuff and simply go for the monetary value.

It still does nothing to change the fact that a player with infinite alts can not acquire keys any faster than a single player. An equal amount of time must be spent acquiring keys, or aurillium for keys.

This isn’t like the old alt exploit with boss chests, where all it took was logging in more alts to loot the chests.

With the tarir chests, the faster you loot chests, the faster you run out of keys (or aurillium to buy keys) and you must spent an equivalent amount of time no matter how many alts you run through to loot chests.

The point stands. The only thing using alts or taxis to loot the chests does is use up keys faster. It doesn’t actually have any influence on time spent earning loot versus the loot’s payout.

you seem to not understand what multiloot is for. it’s not for opening more chests but opening the same amount of chests with higher quality. you could use all your 25 keys on low quality chests or you could use them on grand ones.
in the end you got better/more loot when multilooting than without.
not that i care tho. it’s too much work for me but i don’t mind others doing it.

You’re asking not for convenience, ie for an easing of gameplay, but to outright skip it. If the game content is boring enough to you for you to put it in sarcastic quotes, and you don’t want to play, why in the world would you want to sink even more cash into a game you don’t enjoy?

why are you assuming i don’t enjoy 99% of the game (pvp, raids, dungeons, metas, world bosses, fractals, …) when i say i don’t enjoy channeling hero points for hours?
also i don’t have to watch my budget very tightly so “sinking” a few hundred into a game every now and then doesn’t hurt me much.

Buying gold for gear isn’t quite the same thing. Unless you happen to enjoy the journey of crafting end game gear as some do, the gear is just your stat stick, as it were, needed to play (sorta needed. A lot of the game doesn’t need any remarkable, perfect armor and weapons).

that’s complete bullkitten. you need gear as much as you often need the elite spec. if you wanna play raids or high level fractals you need your ascended gear as well as the elite spec in most cases. i can just outright buy the gear, why not the elite spec? it’s not about enjoying or not enjoying, it’s about the fact what you can or can not. i can buy 95% of what i need for the ascended gear on the tp with gold i got from gems. i merely suggest that the same should be possible for hero points.
if a person wants to skip to the “endgame” why not let them and make a buck or two with it? we have lvlup tomes and even a thing that instantly gives you max level. you can buy gold with gems to skip all the grind you need for the armor you need. why not just add the hero points which are less of a time investment than f.e. asc gear to the list? we’re already 90% there, let’s just take the last step and be done with it.
i did the journey with my first character. i leveled him properly, i played for my gear and i gathered the hero points. i acknowledge that this content exists but i have no enjoyment in playing it to the point that none other character has his elite spec because i’d rather swallow glass than farm hero points. you don’t have to understand or even accept it but i find that content so boring, i’d rather close the game than do it. that doesn’t mean i don’t enjoy the other 95% of the game, that’s just your premature assumption or a cheap pseudo-argument to cement your invalid point. what i want to play are lvl 90+ fractals, raids, dungeons and so on. i think i should have the option to skip stuff i don’t enjoy in return for financially supporting the game.
there is no reputation to tarnish. that would have went down the drain with gem -> gold exchange alone. it didn’t so people seem to be fine with it. why people would revolt when i can buy hero points when i already can buy 95% of everything else with cash is beyond me. how is skipping under 10 hours of channeling worse than skipping hundreds of hours of grinding? it seems to me skipping unwanted things is pretty well received in this game. from both sides, players and devs.

then let it be 15, i wouldn’t care. 20 might be a bit too much but i’d even pay that in the end i guess.
obviously you would need to buy hot in order to unlock the possibility for elite specs. the elite spec unlock would only be purchasable if you always have hot.

Now you have utterly confused me. I thought you meant people should be able to buy the elite spec without buying HoT. If you buy HoT, you have the unlock!

Unless you mean paying to avoid having to go collect the HP either in the HoT maps or in WvW. And there’s the PR firestorm again, as the gem store is philosophically meant for convenience and cosmetics, not actual character advancement; ANet would get blasted both for P2W and for greed. Are you looking for a way to get the elite spec fully trained without ever leaving the PVP lobby and matches? Then maybe you should be asking for a reward track (suitably long to require equal time and effort compared to the other two ways) that gives the tokens for HP exploration unlocks like happens in WvW.

to clarify: i want to be able to buy elite spec unlock so i don’t have to farm hero points. or a pack of enough hero points to completely unlock the elite spec. or anything that gives me a complete elite spec without the necessity of doing boring “content”.

=> unlock in a sense that everything on that elite spec wheel in the training tab is “unlocked”.

how is such a thing not convenience? exp boost does something similar for masteries f.e.
the possibility of buying gold and using that to get endgame gear alone makes it pointless to talk about convenience vs “character advancement”.

there should be an elite spec unlock in the gemshop for 5-15 bucks or so.

I have a feeling the PR fire storm that would accompany that would hurt the game a lot.

But even if that were implemented, think about it. You can buy all of HoT for 50 bucks from ANet, thirty-five bucks has been reported as a sale price from legit retailers. For that 50 bucks, or 35, you get nine elites (one of them in a profession you don’t get without HoT) as well as all the other things HoT offers. So unless you only want to buy one or two elites and never decide you want more, you’re not getting any kind of bargain at your ten dollar price point — no way would a full elite spec, one offered as an inducement to buy HoT and to play HoT, no way would that be at five bucks when mere outfits are closer to ten.

then let it be 15, i wouldn’t care. 20 might be a bit too much but i’d even pay that in the end i guess.

More weapons and armor be earned in game

zaced.7948

i don’t mind people to be able to “earn” stuff as long as i can still buy it in the gemshop.

Wat

?
i don’t fully understand your question but i will answer to what i think it means.

i don’t have that much time to play but i have tons of money. so instead of wasting my time playing the game i’d rather buy stuff with money of which i can earn much more than any ingame currency.
an example: let’s assume i want quip. if i farmed to get the mats and to buy the precursor and everything it would take me months if not years. instead i can just exchange 120€ worth of gems for the gold i need to instantly buy it. that’s like half an hour of work for me.

so i’m absolutely fine with skins being able to be earned ingame and even some that are exclusive to specific content which i will never reach. but i also like to have to option to just buy the stuff i want with cash (be it gemshop skins or tp) since that’s way faster and less work to me.

but it makes me feel extremely ordinary when everyone (regardless of level) can look powerful when all they did was pull out their wallets and I had to spend hours upon hours getting my stuff.

my suggestion would be getting a job.
no srsly now, you can turn this argument around 180°. what about me feeling ordinary when everyone can look powerful when all they did was use the time they seem to have so much of while i can’t because i’m busy making money.

The logic there doesn’t make much sense, friend. I can’t buy Kobe Bryant’s position on the lakers, because “I obviously didn’t have the time to become as good as him”. He spent time and a lot of effort getting there. Believe it or not, money does not equal the time spent on something.

you confuse skill with grind. i am doing just fine in the game. i’m a bit rusty when it comes to pvp but raids, max lvl fractals, etc i have no problem with. i just refuse to grind 250 of X. killing an AI ten thousand times with 10000 other people by autoattacking it twice has nothing to do with skill. except for a very few skins have nothing to do with skill. no, i can’t buy kobes spot on the team. but i can buy his jersey and put it in my >wardrobe<.

In their defense, there is a point to be made here. “Waste your time” playing the game may not be the best way to describe it, but I’m sure there are plenty of people with busy schedules who would love the ability to not worry overmuch about grinding to get that one skin they really really want, and instead just jump to whichever content they like playing best. So it’s more like “Waste your time playing parts of the game you don’t enjoy.”

a million times this. i acknowledge the fact that i might not have chosen the ideal wording.

Anyone who actually plays a Charr knows this isn’t true. Of course, they do have a strong sense of “One of us might be killed tomorrow” mentality preventing them from forming too strong of bonds with each other.

That said, there’s no human in charr. They have the claws of a bear, horns of a goat, face of a cat, and body of a gorilla.

sup homies.
i haven’t been playing for a few months because i played pvp and pvp sucked but now i wanna get back into the pve part of the game since pvp still sucks. i ran out of decent singleplayer rpgs and mods for fo4.
since everything about pve is the acquisition of wealth i wanna do just that. hoard piles of gold and then buy all the shinies i can dangle in front of poor players faces.
since i have barely any gold to start trading (only way to actually make cash) i was wondering what the go to method nowadays is to gather gold most efficiently.
i wanna pile up like 300-400 gold before i start trading since flipping too cheap items is annoying and doesn’t get a good return.
is it still chest farming in the desert area with the three lane event or is there something better now?

i actually did gtfo recently. no time to commit to a team so i left. i’m still around for some pve kitten ing around so i’m still on the forums (just inb4 the generic question why i’m still here).

i’m just exaggerating in my tone here, i could have said it in a nicer way but it’s supposed to make an impact (as it did). overall i’m trying to help people spare themselves a lot of frustration or just explain why they’re getting screwed over by matchmaking again and again and again.
some of those whining are just bad players, sure. but some of them are just unlucky, having their mmr and chances for a decent matchup destroyed by clueless teammates randomly diced into their team, be it that the que was long and the algorithm streched out or them being placed at average mmr for their first game.

yes, average mmr for beginners will actually settle by them losing and getting it lowered but what anet does not think about is the collateral damage it does.
what about the year long player with average mmr that actually knows what to do that they drag down in those “initiation matches”. what about them winning against other new players with average mmr (eventually getting a win streak) and getting propelled even higher and messing up matches above average mmr? and so on …

The reason we are Mad: We're Average

gw2 just isn’t for soloquers. get a full team or gtfo.
in a system where one single bad player can mess up the whole match you’re just not supposed to play with rng strangers.
soloq only works in games where you have roles like a carry that can compensate the mistakes of others.
you’re playing a game 99% based on team coordination without a team. isn’t the result kinda obvious?

i do have sympathy with the one or other person frustrated by this, tho. i have had enough matches with people that seemed like they play pvp for the first time in their life even in ruby. it stops in diamond, tho. take this with a grain of salt, i did this on a smurf since my main acc mmr has flattened out over so many years/matches.

the best advice i can give:
if you want to play pvp get a team. if you can’t leave for greener pastures and spare yourself the stress and misery.

i don’t care for gold at all. i’d rather have a huge amount of tokens instead.
anet killed dungeons so people don’t cry for support and are forced to play the new “shiny” content if they want to make gold at all.
however, if they want dungeons to die asap they need to increase the token gain extremely (like 5 fold or more) and make the items unsalvagable so people finish their collections and can move on.
when 95% of the playerbase has done their collection they can continue with deleting dungeons altogether or turning them into fractals.
that will never happen tho since that’d be unprofitable. better use that time for 30 gemshop glider skins or something.
as it is now any player wanting the collections is better off with pvp reward tracks.

there will never be any support for dungeons again. deal with it.

homosexuality, or for that reason a lack of a overbearing drive to produce children due to, well, not having the utmost urge of shagging the opposite gender is usually looked down upon strongly in militaristic cultures since that would (to whatever negligible extent) lower the rate of potential soldier production.
from a human standpoint it is highly probably that charr are extremely homophobic.

If you play warrior in ranked, you are being selfish by queuing. Stop dragging down your teammates.

I’m TIRED of this attitude against warriors. We’re doing the best we can with the tools we still have. If you don’t want us on your team, then quit, because we’re NOT going away.

your tools are not enough. and we actually want you to quit. playing a warrior is dragging your team down. from the perspective of 4 out of 5 players your choice of profession is a kitten move a decent person wouldn’t do.

BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!

HERE is our community right now folks. People ACTIVELY TELLING US TO QUIT. Ohhohoho and not just that…they’re judging our character and morals, too!

You know what? You’ve GUARANTEED my stay thank you. Run along now.

you mean people like you who told us warrior haters to quit? oh boy. self reflexion and even short term memory seem to be things of the past.
and yes, if you deliberately lower the chances of your team to win for the selfish reason of playing warrior, i will judge you.

How to attract PvE players to PvP?

i’d rather have a small community of pvp players than many pve players. my only goal in a pvp match is to win. there is nothing more frustrating and annoying than someone just kitten ing around for the lolz screwing up my winrate. i hope all the pvers get their legendary backpack asap so they can go back to sw chestfarming and stop bothering me with their lack of technical and tactical skills.
i reject the whole premise that pve players need to be attracted to pvp.

even the best warrior player is a liability to his team right now. i say that as someone who has played warrior in pvp for 3 years. have some decency and don’t que with warrior. not in ranked.
