Some help with berserker pls - sPvp

in Warrior

hello fellow warriors,
back in the day i was playing warrior a lot and now i want to try the berserker. i played an aggressive condi build (sword/horn – bow) before and wanted to revive that playstyle with the berserker.
i have tried many combinations but sword/torch – mace/shield has worked good for me so far.
-> http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vJAQRBMhl21ITHUFilhgjHwJilpA74IEAGZKBhaXP490+artA-TJhHAB0+EACa/BAOJAIVGAA
obviously this is just a rough blueprint, i guess there’s a lot of specific things that could be improved.
the first question that comes to mind is the placement of the weapons. right now there’s an aggressive set (s/t) and a defensive one (m/s). i thought that perhaps it would be wise to swap the torch with the shield because the f1 stun could hold them in my fire field. on the other hand with the sword i am able to close gaps should my prey gain distance.
another thought was to exchange shield for sword. there’s also a block on it and though it’s not as powerful the cd is shorter and it comes with some more conditions. on the other hand the stun is very nice and the block very useful since the build is somehow squishy.
i also thought about picking strengh instead of arms or discipline for the additional confusion and the endurance but i’m not so sure it does any good.
i also don’t know if the stances + signet are the preferred choice but double stab has helped me survive a lot more than endure pain has. also berserker stance helps out with pressure from condis (since i don’t pick ire) and with adrenaline gain in order to go into berserk.

well, my basic question is: how would you modify that build while keeping it’s intended functionality (condispam with sword and mace) intact?

in the last hot story mission the floor is missing around the rift sometimes.
also the upstreams sometimes simply don’t work.

edit: last mission is impossible to finish like that. at some point i have the rift where there is no floor in every single try. sometimes sooner, sometimes later, but it’s always there.
i had hoped at least this (i might add immensly important) part of the game would have been properly tested. if you want me to test your bugs you should pay me not the other way round. this is not some minor bug that can linger some time, this is a major issue that should have been hotfixed rather yesterday than tomorrow.

edit2: sometimes mordremoth casts his ring during the gliding phase. in that case you receive damage while you’re in the air.

gliding is amazing. also i really like the new maps except for tangled depth. guild halls are something i have been yearning for for quite a time and now anet has blown all my expectations with them. i wouldn’t have expected that we could design and build stuff in them as we please.
overall i really love the new content i just wish i could play it without the necessity of unlocking things through exp. that grind you haven’t encountered in did in only one hour of playing and it threw me off a bit (a lot) to be honest. i think my main source of disappointment is that the content is really amazing and i would love to jump into it instead of having to gather exp first.

actually you need to l2p yourself, vayne. or at least check your facts. at the hero point things in the new maps that are locked by poison (froggy mastery lvl 4 i think) nobody can help you. you either have the mastery and can enter the poison or you don’t and can’t.

Teach Me About Scrapper

in Engineer

zaced.7948

actually scrapper is very strong against condis.with eg and mortar they can remove up to 8 condis while dealing dmg, healing and stacking might. this means that condis that are applied en masse in a short time span are most effective. examples are f.e. condi mesmer where the condis don’t last very long (with the condi removal they wouldn’t anyway) but do their damage with short condition bursts.
the masses of might come from the mix of moloch, mass momentum and hgh / blasts.
that’s the build i ran this weekend: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vdAQFASlUUh2tYtWw6KQ7FL3FFYDGhBA9qH7zu4B9D5AA-TJBBwAAeAAeuAA12fwcZAA
(the runes should be scrapper runes but those seem to not have been added yet)
you’re extremely tanky, have good condiremoval, some stability, a tiny bit cc and dash out quite some dmg with the combination of hammer, perma 25 stacks might, 41% crit chance over 50% of the time (100% if you’re lucky with the throw) and the additional burn dmg.
edit: you can play this also with marauder amulet and i think cele might also be not bad.

If you really enjoy pvp that much, why let a couple of maps prevent you from playing? Those maps are not as bad as you folks make it out to be.

I’d rather adapt to certain environments than stop what I like doing completely.

i enjoy proper pvp. those maps are an atrocity that by any means can not be called competitive. they all have huge factors that make them incredibly imbalaced.
and yes, having to play a map i utterly hate will keep me from playing pvp since the fun playing the others is not worth the boredom/frustration playing said maps.
there’s nothing to adapt to. i can play those maps and since i main engi i would even massively excel at them. however, those are not competitive maps and i’d rather not have to circumvent proper gameplay with op mechanics (knockback and pull on skyham; rocket shoes + blocks and fgs on bubbledash) for several minutes before i can play a proper map.
and yes, those maps are as bad as everybody says they are. even anet admits that by leaving them out of ranked.
that’s what ranked is for. having a at least map wise balanced environment where classes that have abundant access to specific mechanics can’t excel playerskill just because the map is built in a certain way.

i didn’t want to say anything until i actually played it and i had hoped it wouldn’t be as bad but locking map mechanics behind masteries is the worst kind of content stretching i have seen in an mmo for quite some while.
“oh look, that’s new what’s this, let’s click it” -> “please farm this and that over and over again in order to use this feature”
after an hour of the first map i was already so kittened that i just closed the game. now somebody will probably say that i am not entitled to an opinion unless i have spent half of my life in the verdant brink but for me that hour was enough to be completely demotivated. until now grind was optional, now it’s obligatory. now you farm in order to have full access to content. and i’m not even talking about the necessity of gear for raids or anything, that’s supposed to be hardcore stuff and i don’t mind at all. kitten that. what’s really disheartening is all the small stuff in the open world. when i want to explore and want to see whats up there or down there and the game tells me i have to do a specific amount of X before i am able to even get there that’s just bold.
i have no problem with a smaller amount of content if it’s good. lemme play the 4 new maps the way i want to, i won’t complain. what i will complain about is when you try to lengthen the time i need to do something artificially so i have to (not want to but have to) spend more time in the game. i don’t like being told that i can’t do something because that one bar isn’t filled enough. locking map mechanics, vendors (srsly, i need to master that? i need to actually train throwing coins at frogs? because you know, i already have bought stuff from frogs in the core game) and even mastery points (yo, dawg. i heard you like masteries so i locked masteries behind masteries so you can master while you master.) is just a cheap mechanic to make it look like there’s more content than there actually is.
i am disappoint.

PS: at least i can enjoy the new league system in pvp now that you made me lose interest in pve …. oh … wait …

edit: just to make it clear: i would be completely content with a small expansion that is well made and has replay value and i wouldn’t mind paying the price of a full game for it at all. it’s all those tricks and tactics that try to subconsciously bind me to the game that leave a bad taste in my mouth.

yes pls. i’d even drop 20-30 bucks for that.

No, the gem store only offers cosmetics and convenience items. Changing that would change the game and not in a good way.

if exp boost is a convenience, how is a masteries unlock not? it only cuts the time. i’ve been told by everyone on this forum for the last 3 years that this is not pay to win whenever i brought it up.

sigh

Why do you bother playing if you just want to purchase your way to the end? You miss everything.

So..no.

what you miss is tons of pointless grind that has no substance to it. for me this game begins at the moment that everything is unlocked and i can start playing at full efficiency. everything before that is a chore.

Yes… because absolutely nothing is happening around you as you make your way to that HPC. Gotcha…

i’d rather experience that with my masteries unlocked. not everybody enjoys your particular play style.

Yes, I’m well aware that not everyone enjoys playing the game that they purchased to play. They just expect everything to be handed to them right at the start. Specs. Masteries. Legendaries. And then they kitten that they have nothing to do.

Go figure.

i don’t. i play the game for the joy in the game mechanics. i don’t need to be rewarded anything. the pleasure of playing is enough reward by itself.

What you propose for Hero Point acquisition through Gems is actually pay to win as those who get their elite specs through this method have an inherit advantage in the gameplay over their fellow players.

So no, absolutely not.

which advantage would that be? they don’t get to have more they just get to have the same faster. the same logic would apply to exp boosts.

Nexons majority acquisition of NCSoft stock.

When did Nexon increase their holdings of NCSoft from their purchase of 15% to the 51% you claim?

Picked up that huge wealth of finance knowledge from 1990s business dramas did you?

You don’t have to have 51% of a company to be majority shareholder, you have to have a larger portion than any other shareholder. And 15% is actually a huge portion in most businesses these days, as most businesses have hundreds of different investors.

nexon still wasn’t majority shareholder. that was ncsoft themselves.

That’s not how corporations work. Nexon never needed to become the majority shareholder they simply needed to rival the current chairman’s shares (which they did) and have the board vote them in.

i know. i just corrected that even if his definition of majority shareholder was right nexon wasn’t. not more and not less. there was no implication of how a corporation works or how the boards voting goes down. please take my words as they are and don’t try to interpret anything else into them.

yeah, you’re right. i’m not big into pve min maxing and looking over equip (that doesn’t exist in pvp) others have posted, you got me. also i didn’t calculate how much critchance bufffood and warrior banners are gonna give me, that’s very relevant for my pvp builds i guess. i’m actually honored that you took all that time to try and discredit me but it’s not making a dent.
if you play pvp you know it goes down as i said in 99% of all cases. i know you’re trying to motivate people by being some generic goody two shoes but there is no argument to be had. on average premade will beat a pug no matter how inspiring your motivational speeches in teamchat are and nothing will change that. it’s a factual advantage that pugs can only overcome if their either insanely good or the premade is insanely bad. on average forfeiting the match is faster and more efficient when it comes to mmr and ladder.
you can try and front me all you want, it won’t change.
since there will be a distinction between team- and soloque with the introduction of leagues this topic has extended it’s relevance anyway. i hope we randomly meet in ranked at some point with you being in a pug so i can prove you how futile everything you try to accomplish is in the end.
i wish you something, mate. this discussion has run it’s course since all that’s happening from now is repetition and personal quarrels. if anybody wishes to discuss this with me personally i might grant you some words on voice chat but i’d rather not type the same block of text to anybody that disagrees with logic.

at some point anet had someone from nexon come in and look at the gemshop stuff. that’s fact. how much that influenced anything in the end we don’t know (means: YOU also don’t know). however, since that happened stuff that players were to some degree outraged about popped up more often than before (f.e. the watchwork pick). attention: NOT started popping up or became outrageous, just popped up a bit more frequently. might be coincidence, might not. we will never know.

however, even if nexons influence over any decisions is close to none i still love to see them gtfo of any relationship with any company that produces games i play. they are generally just not good to have around.

PS: don’t underestimate the fact that money can sway people in their decisions. a payraise here, a job offer in a higher position there, a promise of investment or just exercising ones influence on (potential) shareholders (that you might be connected to through other enterprises f.e.) can gradually change how decisions are made within a company without directly interacting with their daily business. those things happen subtly and silently. however, i would not be able to find any decision by anet they wouldn’t have made just my themselves so i don’t think nexon has ever tried to pull strings with anet. but who knows ….

PS²: spelling is important. you are actually the “tin foil hater” while we are the “tin foil hatters”.

i also don’t play with pugs so i don’t know that side of the discussion.

Then what gives you the right to say OP is incorrect with his advice?

all i know is that in 99% of all cases my team will win against a pug even if they are technically better than us.

Makes sense. Now I know why you were being defensive. You’re afraid that pugs will learn what premades know. But no need to be defensive, that just confirms that you lose a lot to pugs. lmao.

communication makes all the difference.

Wow. Did you even think before responding to this thread? Communication is key – That’s exactly what OP said, the same stuff that YOU said was incorrect.

You have no credibility. OP has presented a screen shot of how well he played a high skill cap build in a pug team and the communication log with his teammates.

While you just whined and sulked and beat your chest yet produced nothing substantial to back your false claims.

it seems you miss the whole point. or perhaps you just lack basic reading skills. i’d rather have balanced matches against other premades. i have no fun in stomping premades and it’s obviously unfair to them.
if you think what i said is somehow proof i’m losing to pugs than that’s fine. i’m not here to tell you what to believe. you’re free to think the earth is flat or that the universe was made my a magical unicorn for what i care. i don’t need to prove anything since your opinion on me is not really relevant to me. if a pug can be as good as a premade THAT IS WONDERFUL. i’d like to play more against such pugs. however, such a pug is a very rare thing and means they have to be a lot better than my team is.
all i’m saying is that if my premade plays against a pug that pug should just resign and get a match against another pug faster. on the other hand i’ll also get to play a proper match against another premade faster. my premade will win anyway so there’s no point for them to bother.
their communication and teamplay can never exceed mine since i need one second for what they need several. and they can’t even do it in combat. people have time to type in chat when they’re dead. that means i already won a battle. teamspeak >>>> chat, it’s as simple as that.
a pug might win against a srsly bad premade. not against me. not fun for them, not fun for me.
my substantial contribution is that pugs facing premades should just give up as their chances of winning are small. if you lose 0-500 or 250-500 does not change the amount of mmr you lose. impicatively i’d like to have soloq and teamq seperated. Thankfully that change will be implemented soon.

PS: that “high skill cap build” is an easy as kitten standard meta soldiers engineer. i happen to play that myself every now and then although i prefer more sophisticated builds.

Ps²: you might want to google what “defensive” actually means.

i agree with most of you guys said, especially the precision. the build was put together hastly and i also didn’t look at the runes and food from the initial build. the sigil of cruelty is indeed a double edged sword, but if you can get and maintain the stacks you get a flat 12-13% dmg increase as a %ual modifier.
i disagree on shrapnel though. i find that second blast very useful for prestacking. although you are obviously right about everything you said about shrapnel. i just personally find the second blast more useful. grenadier is indeed qol. at first i took it just because i’m used to it but i find it also more comfortable to play with it. against moving bosses and trash mobs. however, it’s true in a controlled scenario the cannon is better.

also this build was not necessarily meant for raids. i was just building upon the theme “high direct damage scrapper”. in raids i’ll probably run sinister anyway.

communication makes all the difference. i can call cc chains, ganks and rotations in a second. i can tell my teammates which opponent is going where and doing what in a second. a pug would have to stop playing and start typing for that. that’s a disadvantage only the very best can overcome.

oh wow, you beat a bad premade, congrats. you know what? that happens from time to time. now play against one that resembles the average skill of your pug. you will have no chance. rather than gambling that the premade is composed of hotjoin trash it’s more time efficient for the whole team to afk and get a proper match. for one bad premade you’ll get 5 or 6 or more that are approximately at your level or even better and then all your motivational speeches will be in vain.
i myself am average at best and i only play like once a week because of time issues (meaning i srsly lack training) and when i play premade with my mates (which are probably just a tad better than me since they mostly play pve) the opponents have to exceed us skill wise by a decent margin because we’ll steamroll even pugs that are technically better than us.
don’t fool yourself, having luck in being matches with a bad team doesn’t mean you’ll win against premades on average. just save your time and watch some youtube until the match is over.

i don’t get what all those elixirs are for in a group environment. i assume we’re talking about a coordinated group playing together. i get it, you want to stack might but that’s something the ps warrior will do anyway.
B i get since eles usually don’t stack fury anymore but the rest i think is useless. also the elite is useless in pve. take the kit for blind fields, condis for ma and the two blasts (switch to gyro for skipping, obviously only if they make it work). also eg for ab and nades because nades (vuln, condis and barrage). you don’t need all the elixirs. 3 blasts for prestacking is enough. warrior should have some with banners, ele one on staff and that should be enough for 24 might as you go into the fight. ps warrior will do the rest. however, with nades your group will have an easier time keeping max vuln up. 12 from the nade rota and then you can channel the block. since 5 sec is somehow short it’s good to have a bit more. ab is too powerful to leave it out of any dps rota → eg is a must. exchange B for U if projectile hate is needed.
in the end i’d rather play it like that: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vdAQFASlUUh2tYJWw6KQ7FLQIFde+nFK428NnwXAENTDA-T1BBABYp8DgHAg5XAg80BU0+DVq+zZKBDAcA87vBgzP/8zP/8+93f/93fLFwoCjA-w

i kinda like it although i am affected by it several times a match. it brings another layer of gameplay into fights. i hate it to miss rifle #4 on my engineer in a crucial moment but then again that person just outplayed me by positioning him-/herself behind me in that short moment to prevent me from doing was i’m about to do.

That’s not outplaying. That’s pure mechanic advantage. A thief can spam AA and troll you around in circle while you have to constantly deal with this 3sec CD. If you run behind its back and the thief misses its melee, it wouldn’t suffer from anything. It makes the game super skewed and it makes no sense.

a ranged thief will miss his attack if you run behind his back. it’s a disadvantage of ranged skills. that’s fine. it’s absolutely a l2p issue. with time i learned how to anticipate my opponents movement and how to turn the camera accordingly and i miss a lot less ranged skills now.

PS: Those items were attainable without any bigger effort back then.

then why didn’t you unlock it back then instead of waiting 2 years and then complaining that you couldn’t be bothered unlocking it like those of us who did. >_<

i have all those skins. should have read what i wrote, bro. i don’t need them for my ego like you do, tho. i have no problem at all if other people have access to them. i wouldn’t mind if they just got them for free. you’re just a tiny sad man that begrudges others stuff that you want all to yourself. i pity you.

Any other use of it really just seems like abuse on the part of the one(s) doing the kicking…

well, that’s just you being wrong there. the kick option is there for when 3 out of 5 players want to get rid of one or two players for whatever reason they want.
while i agree that kicking someone in order to invite a guild member at the end of a fractal run is wrong and should be punished severely i still like the kick option to avoid anybody that could get on my nerves.
i explained this several times in different threads but i have specific standards which i display in the lfg description and if you don’t meet them i’m gonna kick you. if i say “no players with green armor” and you join having a green armor i will kick you. same goes for zerker and specific classes. i don’t want to see a necro, ranger or engineer on my team (because 1. i am the engineer and 2. all engineers except for me suck) and as long as there are two others on the team who share my opinion you’ll stay in the party only for as long as it needs to change your toon and get kicked if you don’t. it’s your fault for feeling entitled to a party spot even if you’re not welcome.
that said i will obviously kick you before we start the dungeon or fractals and not at the end. doing that is just messed up and there’s a special spot in hell for people that do that.

i hate this “special snowflake” argument because you couldn’t be bothered when you had the chance and want to ruin it for those of us that did.

so if more people run around in this armor it’s ruined for you? what a sad kittener you must be. also please only talk about yourself. i have those skins unlocked (never used them tho) and i absolutely agree with people wanting them to come back.
those items were never meant to be limited. anet said they would transfer ALL the skins and simply forgot those that could only be achieved with the old pvp system. or they didn’t bother.

signed,
one of those usual snowflakes that also has all that stuff but doesn’t need exclusive crap for his ego and actually doesn’t begrudge others anything

PS: Those items were attainable without any bigger effort back then. marauder was r0 trash loot and tribal r30 trash loot. having to actually work for them when they come back would be a step back.
@anet: i suggest just unlocking them automatically at r5 and r30 in the wardrobe and be done with it. or actually just unlock it for everybody, no need to put any work into it.

Why?

Because he has unlocked them and wants to be a special snowflake.
