Perhaps the only RP-oriented guild on the server
Main Character: Farathnor (sylvari ranger) 1 of 22
don’t worry, you’ll come back as a soulbound blue item your profession can’t use
uh, not sure what you’re talking about really, my human paladin is a pretty buff dude, not exactly what i’d call “scrawny” and i did not even make him as tall as possible (i think he’s at 90-95% or so)
…I have no words for this
always fun seeing a tag around, whether it is wvwvw or pve. those devs i’ve bumped into did not expect any special treatment either
makes things a lot better if i know devs are actually enjoying the game they help make. means they’re not in their own little world and actually experience the same problems and perks as the rest of us
i’m guessing part (small?) of why they throw the tag up sometimes is just that morale boost for some of us
the golems costing money is annoying, true… not as annoying as not having a golem at the top though
Best solution would be to make them both skins and outfits
Vayne, I believe I did specifically say I have a problem with the changes in levelgating regarding some things, not that they were levelgated at all (read my second post for it). But you conveniently ignored that to defend Anet… as usual.
Sorry guys but you cannot expect a MMO to account for and adjust to 1-2 person guilds. Those are glorified parties indeed or, at best, a Guild Team. Making content with such groups in mind is impractical in every conceivable way.
Whether it is story mode or explorable, if someone is watching the cutscene i’m waiting for them. That said, unless agreed upon beforehand, it is generally bad form to make the group wait when in explorable.
In either case Kreapn, try with a different group next time, but do let them know, one way or the other. Or just poke people like Lord Arhan Warmark and me.
why make it exclusive anything? i say give us everything but take from us nothing.
make all skins available through pvp, pve or wvwvw
The ragtag squad seemed fairly competent for my run too, they dealt with the minor threats while we players tackled the big problems.
@Blair
You did the right thing, though in their defense, many participants of the Queensdale train really don’t know any better, because that’s what they have been taught by those before them.
That said, if I see them getting too obnoxious about a newbie killing a champ out of turn, I usually end up teaming up with that newbie and disrupting the train further (sometimes even forming a second train in the process).
I am currently away from my GW2 computer, for family/health reasons, but if the megaservers and the rest of the patch somehow disrupts the train, then I am grateful… and yes, I admit I have joined the train when it is convenient to do so, like when it matches the dailies/monthlies.
Due to my absense, it seems I have also been spared of much of the toxicity I read about in the forums, but if that is the price to be paid for the introduction of the megaservers, I think I’d rather deal with the train, at least people in general are more civil that way.
Rata Sum is easy… Polymock Arena. Already half installed anyway
Karagra, you made me choke from laughter. I am offended and you should be banned for it.
On an unrelated tone: upon logging into the game, did anyone else expect to hear the announcer from Legend of Korra warn us about an incoming Equalist attack or some such, or was it just me?
As far as I know, the races cannot interbreed, even the ones that look similar (like norn and humans) since they are fundamentally different (and species instead of races, but eh…).
On sylvari modeled after non-humans however, that’s entirely possible. the sylvari hounds are one variation, norn, charr, and asura themed ones don’t seem that far off the human model.
We definitely need all those to go in, yes. My bags and bank will sigh in relief.
Of course if you want to go really nuts… what about the cooking recipe results that are themselves ingredients?
You forgot, ‘Long monologue during the Thaumanova fractal where we sit with our thumbs up our collective kitten while she exposes her latest mischievous plan and nary one of us thinks about putting a bullet in her brain case’.
killing her fractal self would have little to no impact on her outside the fractal. if i understand the mists correctly, that’s not scarlet, just a recreation of her
The Grove and Rata Sum a pain to navigate? …seriously? they are easily the fastest capitals to get 100% in by far.
Mystic Forge access to every other place would be a good start. JPs would be even better. Another option is the dungeon vendors, at least some of them (for example TA in the Grove, HotW in Hoelbrak, and so forth)
Ha! Who is that dude?? Hmm, former famous actor…decade ago…emo teen drama… kitten ! Am I close? Tell me I’m close.
not a Fringe fan obviously…
on topic now, my human chars would react thus:
Alejandro Rawtide [Elementalist, Vigil, Lion’s Arch (Krytan)]: Would head to Lion’s Arch, find a nice spot on the beach and order himself some kind of fruity drink, watching the fireworks. He has no stake in this war and would only get involved if asked by a friend or something, for a limited time.
Nagi Phong [Engineer, Whispers, Divinity’s Reach (Canthan)]: Would join the charr army in the name of science. He’d do his best to learn all he could from charr on engineering, war machines and weaponry, sharing the information with the right people in order to end the war sooner.
Kieran Ekene [Guardian, Vigil, Ebonhawke (Orrian)]: Would return to Ebonhawke, defending the city from all attackers, human, charr or otherwise. Supports the Duke’s claim to the throne of Ascalon but would rather see it rebuild as open to all races, after witnessing what the Pact did for Orr.
Vincent Auriel [Mesmer, Priori, Ebonhawke (Ascalonian)]: Would infiltrate the charr army in order to salvage precious artifacts and historical documents. Would use his magic to sabotage any offensive action but would help defend charr lands.
Damien Grimm: [Necromancer, Whispers, Divinity’s Reach (Elonan)]: Would use his noble status to snoop around the court and find out why the war was started and which ministers support it.
Cyrus Torres [Ranger, Vigil, Lion’s Arch (Krytan)]: Would work as a mercenary on either side of the war, protecting innocents when possible. Has no real stake in the matter but won’t say no to profit.
Sefu Farai [Thief, Priori, Divinity’s Reach (Elonan)]: Would join the human army in order to salvage and protect any valuable artifacts they come across while marching through Ascalon.
Boris Romanov [Warrior, Whispers, Ebonhawke (Ascalonian)]: He would infiltrate the human army in order to find out why exactly the war started and whether or not Queen Jennah is of sound mind.
i just wish i didn’t have to click others in order to see their titles
After reading all the complains about the Megaservers these last few days, i have to admit that as a European I am quite glad I chose NA back when I started playing the game. My less successful choice at the time, was that of a server, Kaineng is definitely not the place for a RP-er to be in, though I have yet to get any grief from non-RPers and most react rather well to acting in-character.
That said, if ANet offered free transfers to an official RP server, I’d jump ship faster than Logan runs home to Jenna. Alternatively, I’m all for a RP flag that will make the megaservers work as intended, so I can actually play the game with those wonderful people over at TC without having to worry about trolls.
sounds like a good idea, though it will be much better if dye colours can be used instead of one fixed colour
some norns do have rides… but they tend to get drunk and lose them… and the rides actually belong to the charr, but yeah…
Not sure an official RP server would be a good thing. I’ve been on Kaineng since launch and help run one of the few (only?) RP (PvX) guilds there. Can’t say I ever had trouble finding people to RP with and that’s doubly true after the megaservers became a thing.
Because of the nature of our RP (not limited to the “tavern” or “city” style, popular in DR, but mostly out on the field) we’ve come across several people that would have not considered RP otherwise. Some we dragged from PvP, some from WvWvW, some from Fractals, etc
In the end, the RP community as a whole gained from it. Even those that didn’t join my guild, started entertaining the idea of roleplaying and sometimes tag along us or other RP guilds. This would not have been possible if there was an echo chamber RP server.
I wish there was an option to hide from the gemstore stuff you have already bought and are no longer applicable to you. The deluxe edition upgrade is one such item.
Dawdler… i like the way you think.
now, can’t speak from experience as i have no female chars at all, but going by what i’ve seen through watching the gf play hers, it’s not the norn female voice i have an issue with, it’s some of the faces that don’t suit them at all… too round, for lack of a better word
…I don’t think “Living World” is supposed to be the title in the same way “Prophecies” was. that looked more like a simple logo for the site recounting the living story so far
…that explains a few things…
i have used the merchant npc a few times in dungeon and the whole party flocked around it for the services offered… except for the last couple of times. now i understand why
yeah, “you changed it, now it sucks” …meh
I can’t really say those pics showed me exactly how “bad” and “ugly” the new armour sets are. maybe if i actually see them in game i’ll recoil in fear, but just from those pics they look pretty ascended to me
it does however raise an interesting question… are we ever going to get ascended level armour from dungeons or cultural armoursmiths? i think we should (cultural especially)
Eir Stegalkin, leader of Destiny’s Edge, who bravely battled both Kralkatorrik and Zhaitan, falls to a mere minion with fear on her face and no weapon in her hand.
She deserved so much better.
I don’t remember seeing fear on her face. If anything, I saw her facing her death the way any norn would hope to. Granted, it would be more glorious if she had a weapon, or at the very least Garm, with her, but still…
new professions and races in the gem store? …that may be the one thing that could kill GW2 for me beyond any hope of revival.
and i say that as someone who has spent a good deal of rl money on gems
Your post pretty much sums it up for me. Similar experience, though I had no real expectations when I first approached the writhing vines and part of me expected to be able to slide underneath, to some hidden cavern.
I’m all for alternate dungeon sets for two simple reasons. more options are always good and sylvari need more armour sets. cloth/leather/metal armour just doesn’t look right on them, they need at least a fourth set to go with T1-3 and TA
S for U turn? thanks, but no thanks. WASD-based movement is a time honoured tradition and it works, even with minor modification across games
as far as probability goes, I’d say any of the Racial Sympathy choices has next to zero chances of ever becoming playable, unless they completely change that part of the game.
I doubt we’ll ever see playable Skritt, Grawl, Hylek, Ogres or Quaggan
and that’s fine, because i don’t think that’s what this thread is about
yes to any new clothing, but what i’d like to see more is the option to auto switch to town clothes when …well, you’re in a town
oh and for falling damage not to disrupt that
Happy new year to everyone and may 2014 make GW2 the game we all hoped it would be (continue the good stuff, remove the bad, etc).
Also, may this be a better year for every other aspect of life, cause… 2013 sucked rusted skritt shinnies.
fantasy or not, it would kinda ruin what realism there is.
on the other hand, they could make more armour skins that sort of look like the other two types but still remain firmly in one of them.
what they should do, is make skins bought from the gemstore unlocked in the character tab like some reward skins are
the only times any of my higher level chars (especially my 80 ranger) has been downed in a low level zone, was when i was distracted arranging the inventory, dragged afk by rl stuff or wasn’t paying attention to what i was doing… so, i’m forced to say l2p
facepalm
Dude… he has given you the source. most people in this thread and most likely in games that do have a trinity. it is what the term has evolved to mean. grow up, please
keep in mind that the quality of the tools you use to salvage also plays a role. better tools, less accidents.
which is why there are different types of kits
not sure i’m getting what you’re trying to say there…
are you asking for an armour class (light, medium, heavy) filter in the TP search?
if so, then yes, that is sorely needed and would save us all a ton of time and frustration
are you asking for armour that is specific to a profession?
if so, then i’ll have to say no. i prefer to mix and match armour styles and my engineer may look like something most people might consider a “ranger” look, why limit the options?
I’ve been playing the game since about a couple of months after launch (if not earlier) and i have created about 25 chars for it, though the first 7 were deleted once I “mapped” the game out and saw what it had to offer (had to redesign them cause i am a perfectionist and I think makeover kits were not available, among other things). I still lament the loss of karma and unique skins (no account wallet or wardrobe back then) but not the time spent exploring the game’s world and mechanics.
Fast forward to now, in the aftermath of the NPE changes. I created my 18th character, an asura ranger, then used a 20-scroll to bump him up a few levels. Doing so, got me stuck right in the middle of the NPE, without the advantage of the speedier leveling from 1 to 15 and all the rewards it offers.
Once that char hit 35 and I got him a set of cultural armour, I decided to make a chain of throwaway characters to unlock some of the starting gear that was still locked in my wardrobe. With the last of them, I decided to not delete outright but actually play a bit to see what the NPE was meant to be like for a brand new character/player.
What follows is a rough compilation of my thoughts on the changes brought by the latest feature patch (as well as two bits regarding the april one). I will not address known (to me) bugs like goggles not working or PS chapters being out of order, just the stuff that -presumably- works as intended:
The awesome:
The good:
The indifferent:
The bad:
The abysmal:
…and still no Guild Halls. Ah well, we’ll get them eventually (I’m an optimist, can’t you tell?)…
EDIT: fixed the error spotted below, added one major change I forgot
(edited by smekras.8203)
and I think I know why the gods have been silent… there is a very good chance Dhuum showed up again, so the gods all got ready to face the new threat, each in their shiny new armour and whatnot
…and then Kormir pulled a Leeroy
still playing GW2 on linux under WINE, although i switched from Ubuntu to Fedora thanks to Canonical’s decision to practically fork the desktop. With Valve releasing their Steambox and pressuring Nvidia (well, not just them, but they did have a hand in it i bet) into release documentation for their drivers gaming in linux is becoming easier and easier.
now is a good time for a native linux GW2 client
not sure what class you took exactly, but in the real world it is at the very least expected for all parties involved to use the same definition for a given word.
otherwise, things get messy, like the debates on what a “theory” is between laymen and scientists
Malyck is a blessing and a curse to the Nightmare Court. on one hand, his existence proves they don’t have to rely on the Pale Tree for new recruits. on the other hand, his mentality proves that their theory about Ventari’s Tablet is most likely wrong
almost wish they could switch the LB skills between rangers and warriors, then at least we’d have something that can do some damage
+1 for linux client from me
currently playing GW2 on WINE (PlayOnLinux specifically) on Ubuntu 12.10
…more specifically on a second X server running e17, but yeah, that’s more technical than most people care about
i think the performance would be somewhat improved if the game was native (steam-powered or otherwise)
wouldn’t that make it B2P actually?
