Living World, an Accurate Description?

Ah yes DLC… makes no sense to call a Content Update a DLC given that the “DLC” is a required automatic download as where DLC out there is downloadable if you want it. Its bad marketing and really a terrible term to coin towards PC gamers.

Thank you! You get it. You wouldn’t believe how many people I go back and forth with trying to explain that.

The term DLC is still relevant to PC gaming, there are plenty of single/multi player PC games that have optional DLC content.

It’s MMOs the term doesn’t apply. Any additions or alterations made to the game have to be applied to all players as a whole in order to maintain integrity . Expansion Packs can be likened to DLC with one crucial difference: DLC is generally stand alone content not required in order to run the game functionally. An expansion is similar in that they add new content to the game generally in the form of new areas, gear and quest players cannot normally access without actually installing the expansion. However included changes that effect the core game such as skills, interface, graphic or sound options, AI and general functions are applied to all user accounts across the board regardless of whether they have the expansion or not. These are mandatory updates and are required to play the game in order to prevent players from exploiting outdated features, such as altered drop rates, vendor prices or patched bugs. In a broad sense it is downloaded content in the fact that it is content that must be downloaded but that’s where the relationship ends.

Living world is neither an expansion or DLC It is a patch, in essence no different than a holiday event.

Living World, an Accurate Description?

Sadly your right on the money. Living world was a nice concept but execution is lacking. It does little to impact Tyria in any meaningful long term way. What good intentions there may have been behind it originally seem to have fallen by the wayside and become a gimmicky marketing ploy.

I still get miffed at GW2 adds that tout “new DLC added every two weeks” when they fail to mention it’s TEMPORARY content.

Improving the ranger's role.

With the current state of the game as rangers we have no defined role. We fit no position that other classes can’t already fill easier or faster. We’re warriors with no armor, rouges with no stealth, our pets are cannon fodder, our skills an eclectic jumble.

There’s no focus with this class. None, nada, zip, zilch, zero. We’re we meant to be versatile combatants equally comfortable in meeting our foes in close quarters as we are from afar? Where we meant to be the masters of ranged combat? Are we hardy wildmen sharing adventures with our faithful animal companion? Clever woodsmen who use the environment to their advantage by setting intricate traps for their unsuspecting foes perhaps?

Or did you simply not know and decide to throw a big clump of everything in there hoping it would sort itself out?

Between our traits and our utility skills we’re a muddled mix of everything and nothing. At some point in the future can we get some sensible skills that help define our class rather than mire us in mediocrity?

Will we ever get actual utility skill bow attacks? There’s some much needed functionality with our ranged weapons and interchangeable bow attacks would be a big help.
Give us back preparation skills of like “Apply Poison”, “Ignite Arrow” and “Trapper’s Focus”
Fix our pets so that their Ai is actually helpful instead of counter intuitive and give us actual pet attacks such as “Feral Lunge” or “Maiming Strike” instead of shouts the pet doesn’t respond to half the time.

Please, I’m begging you guys out there in development, it’s been a year and we rangers are still lingering back here hoping to get some much needed love and attention. Can you find it in your hearts to take a serious second look at this class and help us get out of this runt we’re in?

Honestly I haven’t even bothered with the new Teq fight. Just like Clockwork Chaos, I’m constantly getting sent to an overflow where the event isn’t happening, so all I end up doing is waisting money on a wp there and back.
The only way I can make it in is if I show up nearly an half hour early just to sit around and wait for the event to start and even then I may just end up getting disconnected from all the effects slowing my pc, only to wind up in an overflow when I log back in.

Culling in pve was something that had to go. It was a nice idea but far too anal sometimes. What they should do to off set the increased lag is give us an option to turn down skill effects.

As for the boss fights themselves, don’t know if making the fight longer could be called an improvement. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to see bosses get tweaked. I’d just rather the challenge was against a well designed skill set and not just burning down umpteenbillion health.

I’ve purchased bags, even gathered several hundred personally. I’m not saying it’s not effective. Just pointing out that the OP has a point about level scaling affecting mats gathering and the down side of RNG based drop rates.

You can work with what it is, or you can kitten about what it should be. One tends to be more effective than the other.

Wasn’t really my intention to come across as complaining. I was more or less just trying to entertain a discussion on the vices and virtues of the current gathering system.

I have worked for what I have, I enjoy working for what I have. I understand the importance of protecting the integrity of the game. if everything was handed to you what’s the point right? Doesn’t mean that I can’t call shenanigans when it comes to certain features of the game.

If you approve of things being the way they are, then that’s your thing. I don’t entirely share your views but that doesn’t mean I’m not receptive to what your saying.

A difference of opinion doesn’t mean we cant have a civil conversation about it and discuss the good, the bad and the ugly. Sometimes it’s nice to have a conversation just for the sake of having a conversation. That’s all.

What about bringing back chests to the world

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

actually with the recent patch I find myself spending more time searching the world looking for hidden chests rather than simply farming the world bosses. I’ve come to enjoy the seek and find nature of it. I would like to point out though that several boxes are guarded by veteran or champion mobs and not always easy to get to. Having to remember to bring a key on top of getting past the guards would be a serious kick in the teeth.

Yeah but 5% is still a fixed rate. If you go by the law of averages, attempting a doubloon 100 time, 5 times you will meet with success. Now this is a perfect case scenario and it’s usually never that simple. Often you’ll find you have to pump close to 100,000 or more tries in there for the rates to start evening out but it will eventually happen. With random number generation, you could end up never hitting the mark. after 100,000 tries you may be no closer in getting a doubloon then when you first started.

For luxury items like the black lion boxes RNG makes sense. I don’t like it but it makes sense. For crafting materials there should be a fixed rate.

And anybody who crafts a legendary is an infinitely more patient and/or lucky individual then I will ever be. In over 1200 hours of playing I have only ever gotten 1 lodestone drop. I couldn’t imagine having to collect 100+

Unfortunately as a byproduct of champ farming in frostgorge, ascended mats being added to boss chest and the large influx of people hunting world bosses for said mats, it’s getting rather difficult to actually get into frostgorge without being thrown into overflow. Not a game breaking issue but still annoying, as I now have to time my trips to the area.
I’m wondering if Anet will consider increasing the limit on how many player can be in an area before getting sent to the overflow? It was a serious issue that plagued the clockwork chaos event and it would be nice to avoid it for any future content they may have planned *cough tequatl *cough.

And it is completely necessary to get them because they’re more powerful than exotics. They’re not just for show, they give an advantage.

That’s the real kicker right there.
The comparison of legendary weapons to ascended is pretty much trumped when you acknowledge the fact that there is a stat difference between exotics and ascended. Legendary weapons were purely for the ego factor and the few achievements attached to them. No better in stats than exotics.

Ascended is a higher tier than exotic. The stat difference may seem minor for the moment but given time as more players gain ascended weapons and trinkets there will be a noticeable difference in performance between players in ascended gear and those without. Saying that ascended gear is not a necessity is simply trying to deny the inevitable.

Did they consider the new players?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: smezmer.1206

smezmer.1206

I’m gonna have to disagree with you here OP. The availability of gear hasn’t changed much. There are a number of fall backs players have, first and foremost being karma vendors. As players progress through the world they can change out and supplement karma gear, with gear found from champ loot bags and chests scattered throughout the world, at the end of jumping puzzles and for participating in events. Players are rewarded with gear for fully exploring each zone, WvW offers gear every ten or so levels as well. And there is exotic gear available down in Orr practically free of charge.

Gear isn’t something players should stress too much about till lv 80 anyway. Up until then you’ll likely be playing with stat combos, skill set ups, and generally just trying to find what you like. Frankly no new player should buy gear from the auction house till they have a good understanding of the game and what role they want their character to fill.

Plus characters level up so fast perfect upkeep on gear is near impossible. 5-10 levels is and acceptable gap for a first character. Theoretically a person could stay in the same starting zone and level to 80 completing events and gathering. Live on gear drops they find, bank in a butt load of karma, then run down to Orr when the temples are clear and gear up. Then go and explore the rest of the world.

With regards to crafting, it was never a feasible method for keeping a new character geared. The experience gained between collecting the mats, discovering the patterns and raising the skill level your bound to out level anything you could make. The exception being the initial starter gear. That is if you bothered to keep up on your crafting skill at all.

Overall gear is still very much available, it’s the information on how to get it that many new players aren’t privy to. That and the pressure to have the top tier gear asap and the fastest way to do that being through the auction house.

As for GW being on the early road to death, they’ve already started that journey some time ago. It’s more a matter of whether they’ll change direction or not.

While this is all true that’s the point of RNG and these items being “rare”. Having said that he can still mine pebbles and lumps for that 5% shot at creating these items and his level will not effect him in any such way.

Fair enough. Its just that RNG is sometimes far too skewed toward the one in a million side of the scale. Often turning “rare” into “impossible”. With the current crafting system RNG really doesn’t work out too well. Patterns take so much in the way of materials that it’d be much more preferable to have a stable drop rate than a totally random chance.

You want both gw1 player base/the ones who listened to your manifesto, and the locusts from WoW? You’ll end up with neither. The locusts will move on to the next buzz mmo and the non-locust will have stopped playing long before the locust moved on.

Thank you, thank you a thousand times for saying it! Clear, concise and easy to understand. The developers have tried to stretch their focus in order to attract a wider player base, unfortunately they’ve strayed from their original direction and have push away a large chunk of their core fan base. First guild wars may have been considered a niche game but it was a game that had a purpose, with fans that loved and supported it and created a great community around it. It’s successor has almost totally polarized the community into those who love it with out question and those who increasingly hate it with each new patch. The rest of us are scratching our heads trying to figure out what the developers are ultimately trying to accomplish.

Guild wars is officially one year old and still we’re left wondering where is the story going. Tyria is a world beset by a terrifying draconic menace bent on consuming all life as we know it, but you wouldn’t think it with all the campy nonsense go in on every two weeks. I will admit that sometimes living world content is a nice diversion, it’s just that when in the ever loving grace of Dwayna are they going to start fleshing out the central plot line?

Will they ever come stop this bipolar focus on zerg groups and grind? The developers have consistently punished players for mass farming, more champs in orr, diminishing returns, daily boss chests. Just to turn around and encourage it, invaders, crown pavilion, champ loot. What’s the deal?

Can we really say the motto of the game is “Play your way”? Granted no game is ever 100% player controlled. There are limits that all users are saddled with. But over the last twelve months we’ve seen class rebalancing that has killed dozens of fun and effective builds that have placed classes into some very unique rolls and funneled them into one particular line of function. Berserker has become king when it comes to gear and the main strategy to every fight is kill your enemy fast or don’t bother. Or we get the other side of the spectrum dodge everything or your going to be one shotted. Where are the dynamics? Why do we have to conform to the basic cookie cutter builds? Why must we follow the zerg? The game has steadily gone from “play your way” to “play your way…by these guildlines”.

Gw2 is gonna have to step it up notch, because there is a slew of new mmo’s looming on the horizon. Some of which look really promising, just as promising as Guild Wars 2 when it was on the verge of release. I loved the guild wars franchise, I still do. I played the first game for years and I’ve tried to enjoy the sequel just as much. Unfortunately GW2 feels more like a step back in quality in everything from creature and area design, to story development and voice acting. If thing continue on this track I don’t see myself stayin around much longer. Nor do I see Guild Wars staying alive past the next year or two. Sure there will still be a core group of players toughing it out, there always is, but the community by and large will be dead.

All in all I must ask, what happened Anet? You used to be cool.

while you can get doubloons from bags, chests or the mystic forge and it is silly to pay the outrages prices at the trade post, you have to admit he has a point about the effects of item scaling on material gathering. There’s a very limited window between 20-45 to gather materials corresponding to that level range directly. Chances are you’ll out pace that range leveling up from the experience gained in the attempt to farm the desired goods and coming back at a higher level only further decreases the odds of getting what your looking for because 90% of the loot from chests or corpses is scaled up to a higher level.
This means you have to rely on farming the bags rather than the materials directly and it’s still a gamble because there’s no guarantee the materials you want are what you’ll get. I could open 100 small moldy bags hoping for wool cloth and get everything but.

Why the zones are empty etc, waypoints

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: smezmer.1206

smezmer.1206

I’m gonna have to disagree with you here. I don’t think the problem lies with waypoints, they’re a mode of transportation and if you’ve got somewhere to be you want to get there as soon as possible. The problem I feel lies in how content is dispersed, incentive to return to it, issues with diminishing returns killing the viability of resource gathering and much needed reworking of enemy encounters.

A lot of players feel no need to really revisit old areas because, lets face it, existing content is rather ho-hum once you’ve completed it the first time and the main theme is played out over and over again throughout the game. Defend location from enemies for 5 minutes, kill X amount of creatures, Collect X amount of items, Kill Champion Named Mob in X amount of time, Escort Such and Such to Point Where ever. There’s no change up.

Why deal with that in an area where mob encounters are uninteresting, lopsided, overwhelming and unrewarding? It might be worth it if enemies would at least drop decent loot but that’s almost never the case. Those events that are good for farming mats or gold are quickly nerfed, killing any interest they might have held.

Lets not forget that drop rates for crafting mats are so obnoxiously low players are usually better off farming the cash to buy them from the AH then gathering them directly, so the interest of visiting the area for gathering purposes isn’t really viable either.

As for living world, the bulk of all new added content centers around the same general areas, Lion’s arch, Divinity’s Reach, Wayfarer’s foothills and such where there’s a pretty stable population on any given day to begin with. Or in a whole new area made specifically for the purposes of hosting the new content. Excluding the occasional side trip to finish off an achievement, there’s no incentive to move to another area.

Plus the total population of the game is spread across about 50 servers, some of which are seriously dead. Merging low population servers would be a good first step in helping the situation.

I like champ loot as much as the next person but the current setup is being abused like crazy and needs to change. Frankly I don’t think its gonna be much longer before they nerf it. I don’t see them making any changes the actual loot. Chances are they’re either gonna make it once a day like boss chest, increase the respawn timer for champions, possibly remove champion status/bump it up to legendary for some mobs or attach serious diminishing returns to it.

Advice on gear upgrades

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: smezmer.1206

smezmer.1206

Don’t make the same mistake I made and I know several others have made as well,!Don’t but gear with your gold, save it for more important things, use karma. Renown vendors around the world will give you gear that’s functional and affordable throughout your adventuring career. Once you hit 80 make it a point to Visit (and assist with capturing when possible) the temples down in Orr. You can get a nice set of exotic gear of varying stats down there for 42k karma each. Its far easier to gain karma then cash so use it as a substitute as much as possible and don’t buy gear at the AH until you’ve got money to burn.

As for population, well, that can rise and fall depending on what time, zone and server your at. Nothing much you can do about that one. he only thing you really can do is network, make friends, join a guild, be vocal in map chat about needing assistance (your never completely alone out there).

But most importantly, don’t be discouraged. Don’t sweat it if your having a hard time, this game has a lot of subtle nuances that take time and practice to get used to. Much of which you wont really learn until your well into your life as an 80. Best thing you can do is watch and learn from others around you and speak up if you’ve got any questions. There are a lot of people out there just dying for the opportunity to pass on what they know.

expanding on the idea that the spirit should become an aura, if it was changed so that the talent allowed the ranger to perhaps transform into the spirit itself, that might be pretty neat.

Lets say the ranger puts the thirty points into nature so he has the unbound spirit trait, he activates his elite skill “Spirit of Nature”, for 60 seconds he become the spirit. Totally mobile, he can revert back to normal early if he so chooses (but of course blows his cool down). He radiates a healing aura and has a skill set centered around healing or buffing those nearby and naturally his signature move is “Nature’s renewal” to heal downed players. Wouldn’t be too far of a stretch considering the engineer’s Elixir X or Warrior’s Rampage ability.

Cursed Shore botting

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: smezmer.1206

smezmer.1206

They only ban each number of months, when the botters have profitted enough from the botting-selling. Then they wipe, and botters buy another large number of accounts. Sure way for Arenanet to stuff their pockets with full game sells.
At a point we even started to wonder if it’s a corporate thing, or the support teams were involved without superiors noticing…

Botters don’t buy accounts, they steal them. They hit nieve individuals who don’t understand what a phishing email is and/or don’t know better than to not give their account info out. They also hit lazy and unscrupulous players who pay for services outside the eula and get their computers key logged for visiting cash for gold/ power leveling sites. That way they don’t pay anything for an account, thus Anet gets no money. Just another support ticket about a stolen account.

And bots do negatively affect a games economy no matter how benign their actions may seem to the individual. What may seem like a cash saver for one person is a income killer for another. The difficulty, rarity and effort spent gathering a given item reflects it’s value, bots gather goods at rates most normal players cant compete with. When they create a surplus of any given item they effectively cause the price of that item to plummet. Players who normally sell these items are now losing profit which in turn means they cant spend as much money as they used to on purchasing goods others are selling. Eventually prices across the board begin to get all out of wack as players try to supplement the lost revenue in other ways. Also, those who “don’t really mind” botting activity should keep in mind, money given to bots is baught back by players who spend it on goods at a far inflated price simply because they have money to burn and no appreciation for what it takes to get it honestly. This once again damages the integrity of the in game economy.

Bots also cause considerable grief for honest players just trying to play the game. Mass farming of mobs in a given area blocks players from finishing objectives, achievements and events, making it harder for them to move forward.

Longbow should be given the highest dps

in Ranger

Posted by: smezmer.1206

smezmer.1206

I don’t feel the actual dps of the long bow need to be higher than melee weapons really. Ranged weapons have a big advantage over melee in that they can hit a target from quite a distance. A ranger with the right traits and good use of kiting can keep a melee opponent well away from them. Effectivly destroying them before they even get close. The problem, I feel, with the long bow is there are only really two viable attacks, Rapid Fire and Barrage. The vulnerablility you get from Hunters shot is only really useful when coupled with opening strike, and the crippling effect from Barrage is mitigable.
In comparison to the short bow’s faster attack speed, easy condition application and versatility the long bow just cant compare. The only advantage the longbow gives is range and a careful/clever ranger can get around that with the right abilities. The problem lies more with the weapon itself, dps doesn’t need to be buffed up, the longbow just has to be redesigned.

oh, I appreciate healing power trust me. I play cleric/priest in just about every game I’ve ever played. In my book heals are king. I was just hoping toughness would workout better than it did.

If we’re comparing our F key selection to other classes, yeah there are some that have better utility then ours, engineers get extra gadgets and elementalists can effectively open up a whole new skill set. But there are some that have it worse, the necromancer’s rather uninspired death shroud for instance. However in regards to the ranger class itself, our abilities aren’t that bad. We have a pet, we tell it what to do. Tweeks to response time would be nice but the skills themselves make sense.

Ranger just plays so much better in PvP when you try to build around evasion and regeneration.

That is what I have found too but I don’t get why. I think I just need an explanation as to why regen seems to be better than toughness. Because I would much rather run knights/cavalier and max crit damage.

I wonder that myself, frankly I regret swapping out my healing gear. Evasion/Regen definitely seem to be the way to go in most aspects of the game for rangers. If your healing for more than what your being hit for toughness becomes fairly moot.

I do believe all key bindings can be reassigned. So if you don’t like their placement it’s very simple to change them.

As for their function:

F1) Is there in case you have your pet on passive so it wont attack everything that gets near you but you do want it to attack a specific target and ONLY that target.
F2) Cool downs a pain and I’d like them to let you toggle on/off auto attack, but it gives you a measure of control on when the ability is used.
F3) More useful than people are willing to give it credit for. Very helpful for pulling purposes. Also a big help tight quarters where AoE might bleed through the wall and provoke the pet, causing it to run off god knows where. But most of all, it calls your pet back from attacking the infernal turrets! I cant tell you how many Flame legion turrets and Rot Mouths have ruin my day.
F4) Switching pets may be a requirement sometimes. As a combat mechanic having the right pet for the situation can be a big difference (melee or ranged for instance). It also give you a chance to keep one pet active for soloing and one for groups. Also and this is usually only a problem when jump from ledges, sometimes enemies don’t auto reset when they cant path to you after jumping up or down ledges. Swapping pets can null agro and force the mob to reset.

Pet Amnesia: An annoying bug?

now before you put the torches to me, I do think it would be prudent to make the actual pet slots name-bound, that way even if you swap, the same name is still there and saved in the same spot, only now you have a new pet (although this would still require new assignments, I think it would be much much less labor intensive).

If I remember right it used to do that some time back. I had used the name “Thrall” for one of my pets and whenever I would switch him out, the pet I had switched to would keep that name. For some irrational reason it would bothered me to no end, guess it was because I had to rename it. Which looking back, I have to wonder why I bothered lol.

Healing build/ Mass Blast

I’m actually curious about this too. I finally decided to jump into WvW for the first today as a Charr engineer with healing specs. I have to say I had a blast. Couldn’t kill worth a snot but I was able to function well as support. I took Injector gun, Healing turret and Supply Crate but was torn between taking Battle Roar + Elixir B for buffs or Net + Thumper turrets for some measure of Crowd control. What would you guys recommend?

“First, not every one wants mounts. Like you said as the game is there is no place for mounts. Please stop asking for mounts.”
How about no, I’d like a mount so I’m going to keep asking for them. If you makes you that upset don’t read these type of threads and if your going to be negative don’t post in them either. So chew on that.

I wasn’t particularly trying to be mean but your opening sentence came off as sounding rather arrogant and I let my temper get the better of me for a moment there. You have to understand that there have been so many posts where folks assume they speak on everyone’s behalf that it gets frustrating.

The whole mount business is like this, there have been posts asking for mounts to be added to the game since launch. People argue about it constantly and will likely continue to until Anet makes an official announcement on whether they’ll add them will or wont. Mount enthusiast insist they can ded in non game breaking ways, and admittedly some of the ideas I’ve seen are fairly inventive but most are gimmicky at best. The main argument pro mounters have is that mounts can be added for cosmetic purposes and would does no harm.

There’s two problems to that, first being that it wouldn’t stay cosmetic for long. Chances are they’ll add mounts to the gem store, initially for appearances only, but if sales are good and demand is high they’ll start adding “premium” mounts that have speed boosts, which drives a wedge between players who spend in the gem store and those who don’t because they’re at a disadvantage. The other problem is that if they do add them in as random drops or consumables, they’ll likely be either god awful expensive or very rare. This annoys poorer players or players who don’t have time to farm for the mounts. It also causes player grief with ten tons of people farming vast areas hoping to get the drop, which can make it difficult for others to finish their hearts or events.

You yourself admit that with the current state of the game mounts are unnecessary. The reasons for this being, map size, the availability of fast travel waypoints and the fact that every class already gets some form of speed buff. The developers would have to do a massive amount of reworking in order to add a rather minor tweak to the game. They’d likely have to remove a large number of the waypoints if not all of them and that would cause no end of complaining when you have to ride all the way from Lions Arch to lets say Cursed Shore. They’d also have to add some kind of penalty for trying to zip past mobs on your mount, probably some kind of knockdown/dismount. They’d also have to decide where, how and when mount use would be restricted ie. could it be used in PvP, WvW, interior, underwater, ect.

Lets not forget that the maps are actually incredibly small. If you run straight from one end of any given map you’ll likely reach the other size in ten minutes or less. Most other games that incorporate mounts could take a sizeable amount of time to travers zones. The only area I would say is an exception is WvW, where waypoints aren’t guaranteed (or localized) and players have to move quickly to keep up with the action.

Now if you want to ask for mounts that’s fine, I cant stop you from doing that anymore than you can stop me from being opposed to the idea. I do apologize for my earlier rude response, please don’t take it as a personal attack. Just be sure not to make any assumptions on who you speak for in the future.

I don’t mind throwing a win in something like sanctum sprint once I’ve got my acheivement, it’s a limited time so I say let other people get a shot at first. That doesn’t mean I’m not going to race like the kittenens to get to the finish, I just might not be in a hurry to cross the finish line. Ill wait for the first 5 or so people to finish before I go.
However I don’t approve of abusing the system to the point where the outcome is totally fixed. Now If a small group of players go out of their way to ensure victory for one person or a select group of people repeatedly then I draw the line.

I have to agree with Viking Jorun it would be far to easy to abuse something like that. However, considering that most days 90% of the waypoints down in Orr are contested I would agree with a “Portable Beacon Signal Booster” that can open the a selected pre existing waypoint for only the user and his party. Give it a limit of 30 minutes or 10 uses before it expires. With a 100k karma cost and a limit of 1 per person.

I’d be surprised if Anet restored a deleted toon under any circumstance other than if your account was hacked and deleted or an error on their side. I’m actually shocked they gave you the gem shop stuff really. If they ever did implement something like that it would have to have a very limited number of uses, probably something like once month or so. Would be easier for them to give a 24 hour confirmation time so you have time to change your mind.

First, not every one wants mounts. Like you said as the game is there is no place for mounts. Please stop asking for mounts.
Second what your proposing is mobile siege warfare and that can be done without incorporating mounts. They can just as easily add a new siege weapion that functions like every other siege weapon but it’s can move. It would (and should) take massive amounts of resources, can be upgraded with specialization and is rare to get your hands on. I could see it doing heavy single target damage but should have limited AoE capabilities. Should also have relatively high armor but have a minimum target range of around 300 feet (meaning it cant attack targets that are too close) so it has trouble dealing with attackers in melee to balance it out. There should be a limit of maybe 3 allowed on a map and in order to give a use to the title, it can only be used by a commander.
