Yep, just discovered this bug as well; was about to /bug it, but did a quick google first, which led me here.
New character, created yesterday, and this is the first time I’ve even looked at the posters since I completed the Cleaning Up The Neighborhood achievement a few weeks back (on a different, already established, character). They are all torn already, and other than the one Vigil mission, this is this character’s first time here.
I had similar issues as well with my G700, but it was only when I updated the LGS from 8.40.83 to 8.45.??. It drove me nuts for days, until I reverted the software back to 8.40, and the problems went away. I have been thus far reluctant to upgrade to 8.46.
Since the game’s launch, several ‘Are you sure?’ confirmation prompts have been added to the game, most recently to the selection of the new Zenith skin rewards. I would like to suggest that these confirmation prompts are needed in several more places – specifically, certain guild functions.
To start with, a bit of background: I am a member of two guilds at the moment – the leader of a very small guild, and an officer in a very large one.
A few months ago, I was changing member ranks in my smaller guild, and accidentally abdicated my position as guild leader due to a misclick. Thankfully this small guild, at the time, was a roster full of real life friends, so this was easily remedied when the new guild leader (the rank was seemingly randomly assigned to another member) popped on line and helped me fix the issue. I have since added a co-leader to that guild in light of that incident, but I still believe that even a simple ‘are you sure’ prompt, at the very least in the case of changing a guild leader’s rank if no other rank, is entirely appropriate.
A few days ago, an unfortunate series of events led to me mistakenly kicking someone from my larger guild via the ‘kick from guild’ option when right clicking a person’s handle in the chat box. The drama ensuing from this was extinguished relatively quickly, but it stands to reason that something as important as the decision to remove someone from a guild should never be allowed to be activated mistakenly, and thus I believe kicking a guild member should definitely also have a confirmation prompt.
Adding the confirmation prompt to the Zenith reward choices was patched into the game rather quickly, so I would like to think that it would also be relatively easy to implement a few more for these situations as well. Hopefully someone influential will see this post and give it some consideration. Thank you!
Open any Kite Fortunes on that character recently?
Try deleting any NPC, or ‘from the game’ mails you have, and filling your inbox with mails from players only.
This bug’s still here! (Female asuran warrior)
I thought I was doing something wrong, or maybe it was positioning, until I made a charr warrior to grind out the 3 personal story achievements for the recent achievement rewards, which had no Flurry issues whatsoever.
Generally it hits 3 times, misses 4, then hits once more, though occasionally it will hit 4 times in a row then miss the rest. Positioning hardly seems to matter. Even trying to stand practically inside the enemy doesn’t seem to help.
Hopefully this can be looked into!
(For the record, I used the search box to find a more recent thread on the subject, and it came up with 0 results for ‘asura flurry’. Found this thread on Google. Honestly, I think the search box might be broken too. :/ )
Unfortunately I believe this would only be applicable for norn and human males… maybe charr as well?
So?
so it’d only benefit a minority of players, which would place it low on ANet’s list of priorities, or so I’d hope… perhaps someone can come up with a suggestion that would make this more valuable?
Regardless, this is my suggestion, and this is the part of the forum to request it in. Hence my post. Hopefully someone influential will at least consider it!
So, my better half bleached my daughter’s hair a few nights ago, in order to dye it pink, and she used the leftover bleach paste on me for kicks; now I am a blonde with a read goatee/beard.
In order to celebrate my new blondeliness, I popped open a Hair Kit and was hoping to change my Guardian’s appearance to match my current IRL one. Alas, I could not, because Facial Hair color is tied to the same color selected for Hair Color.
In future iterations of character creation and makeover kits, I would love to have the option to select a different color for facial hair, as it would greatly assist in uniqueness and variety. It would also allow me to be a bleach blonde in game, and still retain my gingery goatee goodness!
Molten facility was fun and epic but not hard
That’s exactly what temporary content should be: fun and epic, but not excessively hard.
Let this dungeon be hard when it becomes a fractal (as they have been hinting it will become). While it’s temporary, it should be doable by an average group with any class composition. Think of it as advertisement for the future fractal.
I don’t see why they don’t just make these types of rewards like the HoM stuff, where you can get the skins as many times as you want, on all of your characters, but it is limited to your account, so it is still an achievement
I have to assume that something like this will eventually be added, like how the hat guy was eventually added to GW1.
HD 7750 here. Have been seeing this for months. Trained myself to ignore it, and started checking daily for Catalyst 13.3 to be released.
The reason there are two items being sold is because, straight from the chest, you get a bundle item with the backpack and a plain white backpiece. Some people are selling the bundle unopened, and some are selling the backpack separately after opening the bundle.
The Halloween Scythe skin suffers from this as well – the shadow blade does not line up with the actual blade, giving a ‘double blade’ effect.
Sometimes the order of items within the categories changes too. I crafted about 30 green wood dowels by accident yesterday because of this, thinking that I was refining green wood planks, because the latter is usually at the bottom of the list. Of course, the one time I forget to double check…
If you use a waypoint, and your character does not have enough coin to cover the expense, the coin comes right from the bank – this is probably what happened to you.
Hello, for reference, I previously posted about the Forging the Pact bug here , here , and here . Since the question in my last post was not answered, and is related to the topic, I thought it would be appropriate to post once more in this new thread as the Forging the Pact bug has finally been formally acknowledged:
Would the ‘fear’ choice I originally made in A Light in the Darkness still be saved in my character data, showing that my affected character is indeed being presented with the wrong story step based on that data? If that is the case, wouldn’t it be possible to error correct the level 64 story step based on that saved data?
The character affected has exotics and ascended gear, so you must understand that I am reluctant to delete it and start over from scratch. Also, carrying on with the bugged, unchosen story is also not an option for me, as it would no longer be ‘my’ character.
I can completely understand not being willing to fix a mistake made by the user, but this error was not of my doing; I was simply progressing in good faith that the systems in place worked as advertised.
If the answer to my question above is a no, then I sincerely hope that tools will eventually be put in place to remedy the victims of this unfortunate occurrence.
Hi, it’s been three months now since Forging The Pact bugged my Ranger’s story.
I see that the opening post on page 1 has not yet been updated with information on this bug, so I thought I would ask – will there soon be a remedy for those of us that had our story paths changed through no fault of our own?
Technical question: Would the ‘fear’ choice I originally made in A Light in the Darkness still be saved in my character data, showing that I am indeed now being presented with the wrong story step based on that data? If that is the case, would it be possible to error correct the level 64 story step based on that saved data?
In anticipation of a surely necessary fix, I have not progressed my Ranger’s story; it still remains where the game mistakenly left it.
Most likely because it contains the word ‘toke’.
I don’t always have 5 guildies on at once, and I am not really a fan of playing with strangers. I have been playing since the betas, and I still have 2 dungeons I have never even stepped foot in.
I don’t see why Story Mode can’t be made dead easy, and solo-able, or at least made to be scalable so that 2-4 guildies can do it without having to look for strangers to pad out the party. It’s not like we get dungeon tokens for Story Modes anyways.
Edit: typo.

Were they a sylvari? One of their elites summons a thorn wolf.
Warning: Do not accept the reward from Forging the Pact if you are doing it with someone else, or your fear will become the party leader’s fear, even though you made that choice several missions before, in A Light In The Darkness.
It happened to me, and now I cannot progress with my story on that character. Well, I could, but I am waiting for a fix so I can do the storyline I chose as opposed to the one forced on me.

Thank you. This was a feature I used quite often, and didn’t realize how much I used it until I couldn’t do it anymore.
Hoping for a speedy return!
As someone that is somewhere in between casual and hardcore (as is my wife, and several friends we play with), I have to say that the philosophy behind dungeons confuses me.
The dungeon story is integrated into the main story – yet the story modes of the dungeons are way too hard for the levels people are at when allowed to complete them. So, if we’re meant to do each dungeon as they become available, why does it feel like you need to be 80 to complete them?
Also, if dungeons are meant to be endgame content, then why do they not all require level 80? And again, why are they tied into the personal story?
And why do I need to complete the last one to finish my personal story? I can solo through the whole story (and plan on doing so from now on, due to a still persisting story-track skipping bug I have recently encountered), but then I need to assemble 4 other people to complete my personal story? And if I am not the party lead, then technically, three other people and I are helping someone else complete THEIR personal story.
Story modes should be somewhat easier, they should scale, and should be completable no matter the party size, even if I want to do them on my own, or with 1-3 of my friends. This solves the problem of not being able to find 1-4 other people, and allows me to see the story at my own pace and actually interact with NPCs within the missions, rather than being rushed and ’gogogo’ed and ‘skip cutsean plz’ed by random strangers.
Due to the above problems, I have not even attempted any explorable modes yet, and neither have any of my real-life friends that play with me. Most of them have only done 1-2 story modes, and can hardly be bothered with dungeons at all. You can increase rewards all you want, but until some of the tedium is removed from the dungeon-ing process, we will probably continue to avoid them.
(Posting here because I was directed here, at least, I think I was – for reference this was my original post.)
I completed A Light in the Darkness alone several days ago, and chose the ‘suffer’ fear at the end of the mission. I am certain of this, as I am on my third level 80 character, and I chose the other two fears on the other two characters, and wanted to see the third one I had not yet chosen.
Just now I completed Forging The Pact with another player (who chose ‘innocent death’ as their fear in ALitD), and as there were no choices to make in FtP specifically, I felt safe in taking the reward. But now, my next story mission is ‘Tower Down’, though it should be ‘Striking Off the Chains’.
I noticed the initial post in this thread has not been updated in about a month – is there any update on a fix for this behaviour, or an ETA on when tools will be made for customer service that allow them to reset/alter story flags?
I will patiently wait, for months even if necessary, to get this fixed if that’s what it takes, and avoid progressing further in my story, in anticipation of a fix. Not ideal, but better than remaking a character that already has exotics and two crafting jobs well underway.
Thank you!
Hi, thanks for noticing my thread, but after reading the info at that link I am still left wondering if there’s any way to fix my particular problem, as it is not mentioned in that thread (which has not been updated in about a month) – and some of those issues appear to have been fixed for people (“Affected players were reset back to the personal story step they were on before the skipped content”).
Also, should I re-post my details there?
Edit: Rather than re-posting and bumping again, I will just edit this in – thank you for the second response; I will simply wait on finishing that character’s story until a fix is in place. I am patient.

(I did try to search and see if this was already posted, but I did not see it.)
I completed A Light in the Darkness alone several days ago, and chose the ‘suffer’ fear at the end of the mission. I am certain of this, as I am on my third level 80 character, and I chose the other two fears on the other two characters, and wanted to see the third one I had not yet chosen.
Just now I completed Forging The Pact with another player (who chose ‘letting an innocent die’ as their fear in the above mentioned mission), and as there were no choices to make in that mission specifically, I felt safe in taking the reward. But now, my next story mission is ‘Tower Down’, and not ‘Striking Off the Chains’, as it should be.
Is there a way to fix this, or is my personal story now tainted by playing with another player and taking the reward from a mission that had no bearing on this choice?

Awesome challenge!
I’ve also been getting this error, and have been randomly disconnecting more frequently over the past few weeks, and about 5-6 times in the last hour or so. Resetting my modem doesn’t seem to help.
Edit: Persistent kicks all night, and I’m now also getting 7:11:3:189:101

Just did the puzzle in Yak’s Bend BL, standing in front of the door still, and it won’t open. Have both key pieces, acquired here, just now.
Any cooking crafting stations located in higher level explorable zones?

Sparkfly Fen has a crafting area.
Guild: Chicken Shawarma Avengers [CSA]
Guild Leader: Terrick Viranimus (me)
Server: Yak’s Bend (I have never changed servers, and have been on Yak’s Bend since Day 1)
Noone can access guild storage except me (has been like this for a few days).
I have also had trouble editing permissions, but a quick relog usually sorts that.
Often when I had something in the build queue, I could not see it without relogging, but today even that does not work – so I have no idea if current research will show up again, or if we are out the Influence (and to be honest I could have sworn I had set Politics Level 2 to research once before, which could mean we are out 2000 Influence)
