Love all this, Windu!
It’s online. At least I saw people queuing up at noon our time.
Doing a bulk search, such as https://api.guildwars2.com/v2/items/?ids=12345,12346,12347,12348,12349 returns “301 Moved Permanently” and then redirects to https://api.guildwars2.com/v2/items/
You’ve got a stray “/” before the “?”. Use this URL instead: https://api.guildwars2.com/v2/items?ids=12345,12346,12347,12348,12349
I am going to mention the march during our Community Showcase Live broadcast tomorrow, Noon Pacific Time Wednesday, June 14, live on Twitch, Facebook, and YouTube.
Cat #30 wasn’t ever released.
I’ll remove it from the list at some point.
Stop by tomorrow to catch CSL at our usual Noon Pacific hour. Guest will be Ester Sauter, a super-nice member of the team!
Wednesday, June 14, 2017 — Noon Pacific Time
We’ll be simulcasting the show on Twitch, YouTube, and Facebook, so pick your medium of choice and join us!
We have had quite a few threads posted about Pips over the last few days. In order to keep things organized, let’s use this single thread to discuss the topic moving forward.
You may have noticed that a few threads were merged a day or so ago. Unfortunately, some of those covered very different aspects of the topic of Pips, and as a result of the merge, a certain amount of confusion has arisen. I apologize for the confusion that the merge caused, and hope that with this one feedback thread, all sorts of comments will make sense in the big picture.
If you’re responding directly to a comment, feel free to use the quote feature to make that clear, or lead your post with a few words about the specific sub-topic you’re discussing.
Thanks for understanding.

Bug Fix:
The areas you’re looking for are called sectors; they’re a sub-element of maps and can be retrieved e.g. via https://api.guildwars2.com/v2/continents/1/floors/1/regions/1/maps/31/sectors/233
The vendors, as described in the pull request, barely has any localized data. A “vendor” isn’t the NPC, it’s just the window with the items for sale. The main goals for the vendors endpoint were (1) to expose item pricing and (2) to expose rotating/daily vendor sales. There might be room in the future to provide a list of NPCs on each map (or in each sector) but that’s a much more difficult proposition (since a lot of NPCs are spawned via map scripts and so forth).
Gaile posted a statement about it in Announcements: Hall of Monuments Issue 06-09-2017
speaking of lazy design …
Blinds and blocks are very useful when enemies are enraging, but yeah those numbers are too high :P We avoid doing significant balance changes without a proper rework to go with it.
I don’t subscribe to the thought that something needs to be complex to be challenging. It’s the lazy way of design.
We don’t subscribe to that notion either. I do believe however that it is acceptable for some fractals to be more complex than others, especially ones that are part of an important arc. It is also true that a more complex challenge is not necessarily a lazy design. What is most important to us is that each fractal provides a unique and interesting challenge, and we have to be aware that not every challenge will appeal to every player.
I had the same problem but it was related to the Game DVR function of Windows 10. I tried killing off a bunch of different programs (antivirus, various other things) to no avail. Finally, I did the following which seemed to work:
BTW, this isn’t an “official” support response. This is just what worked for me once I got the Windows 10 Creator’s Update and GW2 kept failing to launch.

Well, the pips that I earned prior to hopping maps didn’t register to the new reward (Wood). So after coming to a new map, I had to start back with 0 pips when I should have been halfway to finishing Silver.
Yeah, that is how this would present. The issue here is that the pips didn’t reset when they were originally supposed to so they got put into the pre-reset version and then when you switched maps it reset correctly.
Did you happen to join WvW immediately after reset?
Thanks for the additional information. I think I now know what this is and it should fix itself the next time you change between WvW maps if I am correct. I believe the case that is occurring is that your pips failed to reset when entering WvW for the first time after reset.
Sorry for the inconvenience, but I should now be able to get this fixed properly in a future release due to the additional information.
You are awesome Linsey Murdock!
Yeah, she really is! I got a sneak peek at the list and I was blown away by its comprehensive nature. So happy that the devs are going to be able to make this happen!
Could you please post more information about this? Are you still earning the chests even though the pips don’t appear in the UI? A screenshot of the second tab of the WvW panel would be quite helpful in determining what exactly this is.
Also, is there anything else not updating? For example, are you also lacking the time until skirmish ends timer?
Love this list and would applaud if even half of these items made the final version.
As far as things to cut, I would question the need for space for stuff you buy from Miyani (eldritch scroll, philosopher stones, etc). Given that those items are only used in the mystic forge, having them purchasable right next to the forge makes them easy enough to get to as is.
Just my input though. Maybe someone had a good reason for including them.
They were very popular suggestions and the way I figure it is that you can often be left with extras or be holding on to them for a long time before use. Those are the lowest priority items and I would cut them first if I find myself in an absolute NEED to cut anything. Right now, I am OK with shipping this list as is.
Here are some notes on how we chose what:
• No “components” has been my go to up til now but you will notice there are a bunch of things here that might be called “component”. The ways I softened but did not eliminate this rule is two fold: 1) allow a second tier of refinement like dowels and patches which are used cross discipline, 2) allow a number of scribing and cooking components that feel very core to the disciple and are used over and over throughout but did not have OTHER components in their ingredients which are also being added to storage (eg no herbed stocks because base stocks go in).
• No Inscriptions and Insignias. I just felt that there were too many and there were more important things that crafters were more likely to be holding on to for longer.
• No sigils and runes. I believe there are WAY better solutions to this problem.
• No legendary gifts. Too many. Too niche.
• No Piles of Silky Sand. Just consume them, geez.
• No SAB Baubles and Bubble Baubles. I spoke with the SAB designers and this is a technical limitation with how that stuff all works in SAB.
• No WvW Blueprints. I spoke with the WvW designers and they felt that this would create a bad user experience for players who legit use blueprints.
• No Black Lion stuff. There is a combination of technical issues and a lack of desire for those to work that way.
• No Boosters, Tonics, Foods (general food consumables not the core cooking ingredients), utility buff, and potions. Just no. Seriously. There are way too many and there is a whole host of reasons why you just get a no.
• No Instant Repair Canisters, Bank Access Express, Trading Post Express, Merchant Express, Revive Orb. Please just use these.
EDIT: This was partially cut off.
• No Luck. Just no.
• No trophy items that make specific decorations etc for the guild hall. Too many. Too niche.
• No keys. There are better solutions for keys that we have not yet had time to pursue and I want to leave room for us to do those things instead.
EDIT2:
Reminder: Once an item has been added to Material Storage, it can never be removed or moved to a different category. However, I did get a small piece of tech to allow me to re-organize within each bucket and I’ll be doing some re-ordering work as part of this update.
Rejected:
• No Lumber Cores or Pruning Shears. We count these as trophies used for guild hall decorations which I already mentioned we opted to not include.
• No Golden Fractal Relic + Integrated Fractal Matrix. I discussed these with the Fractals team extensively throughout the process and they opted to investigate other solutions.
• No Writs and Tomes. I do not want to put in consumables of this nature.
• No Strategic Defense Map of the Mists. Used in very few things at a low cost.
• No Toys and Tonics. These are so outside of any of our qualifications for going into storage that I can’t believe I am having to explain why they aren’t going in.
• No Essence of Time. It is a trophy used in two things, one of them being a decoration.
Things to think about a bit more:
• Miyani Items. A lot of folks have rightly pointed out that all of Miyani’s items should go into storage. I haven’t made a final determination on this yet, but it’s likely that we will cut at least some of these from the list.
• Indigo Mushrooms + Mushroom Milk. I’m really on the fence about this one. I had wanted to allow them to keep dropping because they do make foods that can continue to be used, but I don’t particularly want to include them in storage because of how you start acquiring them. I’ll think about it more though.
• Badges of Tribute. We said no to these largely because of how you get them and use them. They are bought from a vendor and can be immediately consumed by crafting low-ish cost items with them. I will check in with the WvW team to see if they disagree with that sentiment.
• Mystic Runestone. If I am going to put in Icy Runestone, I should probably put in this one as well.
• Marks, Talismans, Seals, Medallions, and Crests. I have almost zero desire to put all 25 into storage, but I will rethink Crests specifically because of their inclusion in Amalgamated Gemstone crafting.
• Ascended crafting materials that make Grandmaster Marks. This is going to be a tough one. There are a lot of items here. I’ll consult with the PvP team and my fellow rewards folks.

Ok folks, here is where we are at with this material storage side project that I originally outlined here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/What-s-Missing-from-Material-Storage/first
1. Determine need for side project
2. Work with programming to investigate the backend and define limitations
3. Ask for suggestions from playerbase <- LAST TIME WE TALKED
4. Collate suggestions from all sources
5. Refine data to determine popularity of suggestions
6. Refine list to remove suggestions that are impossibilities for whatever reason
7. Research every suggestion to fully understand their use cases
8. Meet with experts to better understand the needs of their area of the game (WvW, Fractals, Scribes, SAB)
9. Refine data list to remove suggestions that are unfavorable for whatever reason
10. Discuss and plan alternative solutions to suggestions that are unfavorable but could be addressed in another way
11. Assign Materials to specific material storage collections
12. Experience data loss, resetting progress back to step 7, thus undoing all the hard parts I just did
13. Experience crushing demoralization and wallow in sadness for days while numerous people try to help recover work. This is why you should never save your docs locally and nowhere else.
14. Acceptance of lost data and thorough avoidance of redoing work while advancing through stages of grief
15. Put on big girl pants and redo steps 7-11
16. Document proposed changes
17. Present final list to design team for last minute objections and additions
18. Present final list to playerbase for last minute discussion and final appeals <- WE ARE HERE
19. Adjust design as needed.
20. DO THE WORK <- the easy part
21. TEST THE WORK
22. SHIP IT

That’s 125 items and 3 new categories (I’ll also be changing some category names and item rarities to better fit). More than I should do from a pure numbers standpoint, so if you are going to try making a case for adding anything else to this fairly exhaustive list than you should know it will be an uphill climb. I’ll hear you out, but know I will be a hard sell. If anything, I am looking for cuts to this list, not adds. We’ve spent a ton of time thinking this through. I’ll post some notes on those choices in a reply post since the forums are telling me this is too long.
I’ll personally be paying attention to discussion here and on The Inevitable Reddit Thread™ for the next week. I’ll be finalizing the list in the following week and finding the time to DO THE WORK after that. When it comes to timeline, I normally say “no promises!” but in this case, I promise that I refuse to let this go a whole year since my original post without shipping.
Bug Fixes:
This has been resolved for now. I’ll keep an eye on NA’s WvW reset tonight in case the same issue triggers there.
Hey there,
The team is aware of these issues, and is working on a correction right now.
No ETA on a fix, but they’re on the case!
Hello Gaile, you might want to check your post in the news subforum that you have linked (replying here as I cant do it over there):
[…]If after six hours you find that you still do have your Hall of Monuments rewards, please contact Customer Support for assistance.
I have the feeling that part is missing a “not” as I dont think you want people that have all their rewards to contact support in a few hours. I believe it should be clear for most people what is meant but some might understand it wrong. Unless you want support to get spammed with “I still have my rewards”-tickets in a few hours.
Dang, I fixed that in Spanish, French, and German and missed it in English? Shame on me!
Thanks for the note!
I don’t mind the hammer but I think improving its skills would be a nice. For example, the #3 skill (The projectile reflect) isn’t that useful since most of the Fanatics are melee or use non-projectile ranged attacks. Maybe we could get some version of a few Archdiviner skills. (Like the cone-shaped slam or the cone-shaped pull)
This is a neat idea.
Detailed messaging posted in the News and Announcements sub-forum,
here.
Thanks for your understanding!
Friday morning (Pacific time) we had a brief outage of Guild Wars (original) that caused a temporary desync between Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2. This impacted several players’ Hall of Monuments rewards. In fact, some players received notification via the Guild Wars 2 in-game mail system that said their Hall of Monuments feature was removed because they had acquired more points than intended. This message was sent in error and your rewards were not affected.
Here’s a workaround that should reset things so that your account is back to normal:
Doing this should re-sync your HoM rewards. But please note the following: It may take a few hours for the reconnection to take place. If after six hours you find that you still do not have your Hall of Monuments rewards, please contact Customer Support for assistance.
(edited by Gaile Gray.6029)
We had a brief desync between GW and GW2. It’s nothing major, but we’ll have information soon, including a workaround to reset things. All is well with your account.
Apologies for that scary message, and for the apparent demotion!
Bug Fixes:
The light flickering should be fixed in the next release.
Regarding forward rendering mode, I did not consider the wine case. Thank you for bringing that to my attention. I’m not sure how we’ll proceed, but it is good to know there is a legitimate case for it.
By default, yeah. The vendor prices can be overridden on a vendor-by-vendor basis. There’s a vendor endpoint that’s not available yet that (kind of) exposes the actual prices.
The dates for next season have been set, which updated the League panel to display that information as the “Current” season. At the top of the panel you should see the option to view the previous season, where you can toggle the badge for the previous season on and off.

“Structured PvP will also be updated with a custom arena map for 2v2 battles and a new and improved PvP lobby to hang out in.”
So does this mean we are going to be able to queue 2v2s now instead of just 5v5 conquest? Am I reading it right? Curious cause no one seems to be talking about it.
Only custom arenas. We don’t have plans to support a 2v2 game mode with a queue.
Please fix it.
Ok.
Bug Fixes:
We need to update the loyalty pip description.
You need to earn at least 75 pips for 3 weeks in a row to earn the loyalty bonus. We wanted players to have to participate in skirmishes to be considered loyal.
Hello, I’m not quite clear on this.
So you need to get
75+ pips on week 1
75+ pips on week 2
75+ pips on week 3And then so long as you remain on the server, you will get the loyalty bonus?
Or will the streak reset if you miss a week, and you need to do all 3 again?
Needing to earn 100+ pips weeks 1, 2 and 3 is correct. If you miss a week you will need to do all 3 again.
*Edit: It should be 100 pips not 75. So you need to complete all of Wood Tier for 3 weeks.
(edited by McKenna Berdrow.2759)
not a checkerbox lighting bug, but a complete darklight filter that flickers in the tangled depths. It may not be very apparant from the two screenshots, but one is darker than the other, and it’s flickering is quite headache inducing.
EDIT: I should probably specify that it changes with camera angle
Thanks for the report and posting the video. I am able to reproduce this when standing in that spot. The ever important first step to tracking down what’s going on.
Looking into it.
We need to update the loyalty pip description.

With the next release, we will be making a change to the Watchtower Cliffs (aka: the centaur stronghold) area of Lake Doric. The Harathi centaurs noticed that while those who shout “I can outrun a centaur” were not much of a threat, those who could build turrets and other weaponry were. They reached back to their command in the Harathi Hinterlands and requested support, which has come in the form of trebuchet fire aimed at enemies in their Lake Doric stronghold.
This change is intended to discourage players from AFKing in the centaur stronghold. The strikes come swiftly and carry a powerful punch – especially towards summons – while not becoming overly punishing to those who are playing through the entire area. Keep an eye out and be ready to evade the bombardments!
We will continue to monitor the centaur’s stronghold area and will investigate potential changes to incentivize intended gameplay in the area.
Hey Noisia — are you still up for commissions? I was going to do a call-out on CSL, but wanted to be sure you still had the time to make these chatbox banners as individual commissions.
Thanks.
That is very nice! I love the incorporation of so much iconic imagery, and I agree the little mastery points are too cute!!
I like this sketch, and think it’s wonderful that you have developed such a detailed and interesting backstory.
This is amazing stuff. I have to wonder how many hours it took you to acquire all those chests and rewards. And I hope you got everything you dreamed by doing it.
That’s stunning! <3
But wait, can you tell me more? What’s the character’s name? Whose character is it?
That is thief Sindrener from bluri.2653.
Thanks, Cynz. Bluri is a lucky pup!
