We do not take character or display or guild names away from valid accounts. Someone may step away and return to the game later, so the names must stay in place.

You did the right thing in sending a polite request, and hopefully that player will respond and the two of you will make arrangements. (Support cannot switch names, even with mutual permission, but you can do this privately.)

buying gems went wrong

Gaile I totally understand what your saying about the Lag from paypals system to your own and that the account updates when the payment is received on your end,

The problem that is occurring is before that, when you hit pay now on paypal, it used to load a page saying your gems will be with you shortly, now it always displays a page saying an Error as Occurred please contact customer support, this is why when I first seen it and noticed I hadn’t got the gems ingame, I figured PP was having issues, so waited a few mins then tried again ( websites sometimes lag out im sure you know ) but when it did it the 2nd time I got charged twice, and got the gems twice,

What im saying is, this could either turn people away from buying gems, or you could end up dealing with 100’s of customers a day who where charged twice,

The next time I get gems I will screen shot the error and post it for you.

I’d appreciate that. The last thing we want to do it caught inconvenience, inadvertent purchases or, quickly frankly, a block to someone’s ability to purchase gems, if they choose to do so.

Thanks for this info and I’ll watch for that screenie, as well.

Hi ive been trying to gett in the game for 2 days now 1 and a half day waiting for my athentication and now my problem is i cant remember my password couse it whas saved in browser so i cant change it and secound is i cant remember any of my characters name so i cant recover password either what do i do i have sendt tickets but im tierd of waiting all the time i yust want to play my game!

I see two tickets from your friend, once closed (appropriately) as a duplicate. I suggest he read the sticky post at the top of this sub-forum, because the team is sending responses, and he clearly is not receiving them. Sorry I can’t help more, but he might consider the option of using a different ISP to contact us, being prepared to verify ownership, of course.

I think Gaile means email address. Try using a different email address if the first one isn’t getting the responses. Usually means there is a block, and Anet cannot get past it.

No, I mean E-mail provider (sometimes but no always associated with one’s ISP, so I should have used that term). Using Name#1@Yahoo.com and then switching to Name#2@Yahoo.com does not solve the problem. Using a different e-mail provider is the step to take.

To be clear to others who might read this thread, the option of making a free world transfer is offered if your delete all your characters. If you do that, please make sure you move your items to storage, as anything on the character will do away. Hey there,

If any of you are still experiencing this issue, please try Guesting to another server to see if this resolves the issue for you. If not, I would like you to try a command line argument we have seen resolve this type of issue.

Please go to your shortcut for Guild Wars 2 and right click it and choose properties.

In the line that says Target, add a space at the end of whats there and then -prefreset

It should look something like this: “C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -prefreset

Click apply and then ok.

Once the above is done, try launching the game and logging into the character you are having issues with. If this resolves the issue, go back into your shortcut again and remove the -prefreset line.

This is true.

Perhaps even more, as players we need to take responsibility to read the existing messages and really understand what we’re doing. Quite frankly, history shows that making it “louder” or brighter, or bigger probably won’t increase the chances that someone reads the message and makes the right choice. We all can fall prone to what I call “Quick Click Syndrome™” where you think “Yeah, yeah, accept” and then go “Whooops!”

In the end, Jeffrey supplied a way for the OP to get this right. In the bigger picture, I suggest that we need to read what we’re being told and not be so hasty. (And of course I say that without being judgmental, just wanting to make sure we’re looking at this from the right perspective.) There definitely are cases where increasing clarity in the game is a desirable thing, but in this case, it doesn’t seem that would address the real issue.

It’s possible the setup file could have become corrupt, and so I’d advise deleting the old one and trying again to download and run the new one. If that doesn’t work for you, you may want to consider disabling the SmartScreen Filter as this can sometimes prevent some applications from being run properly.

When you submit a report, as requested in the crash message, you won’t get a response. But the details will be forwarded into the system, which helps the devs determine if something is happening on a system-wide level.

For individual issues, you are best off creating a Technical Support ticket, if you find that you don’t get the info you need in the Technical Support forum.

I know it sounds simple and I didn’t see this mentioned anywhere but your video card drivers are over two years old. I would highly advise updating these because even if this does not resolve your issue, if anything it should at least improve your in-game performance.

% temp % without the spaces between “temp” and the percent signs. Unfortunately the forums will simply show this as “temp” and remove the percent signs when included together.

Hi knalpiraat,

Without a crash log it can be difficult to say what could be causing the issue, though looking at your system specs I would likely say this is an “Out of Memory” issue due to having a 32-bit operating system with more RAM than your operating system can handle. I’d advise starting with tweaking some of your graphics options down, or upgrading to a 64-bit operating system.

Both players did “Setting the Stage” together. (It’s a story step shared by all 3 Orders.) At the end of the step, it sets your next step based on your Order. When playing co-op, it uses the “instance owner’s” Order to keep the players together. (The “instance owner” is the player who started the story step and opened up the instance.) There is a warning that if you accept the story progress, your next story step will be “Name of Next Story Step” regardless of any choices that you made. Adding another warning would be impractical since the system only knows what the next step is (based on the instance owner’s choices) and can’t tell what it might have been based on every other player’s choices. The Dragon’s Reach, Part 1
With an Elder Dragon’s corruption spreading, the heroes of Tyria set out in an attempt to gather allies to meet this new threat. But with problems of their own close to home, will world leaders add their support or just introduce more challenges?
Achievements
After completing The Dragon’s Reach, Part 1, players can showcase their tactical mastery as heroes of Tyria by completing challenging episode-related achievements.
Rewards

  • New kites can be found in the Buried Locked Chests throughout Dry Top. Kite types include:
    • Crystal Shard Kite
    • Ventari Follower Kite
    • Prosperity Mine Kite
  • Gentt now trades Sandy Bags of Gear for Unidentified Fossilized Insects.
  • The ambrite short bow, Vespidae, has been renamed to Culicidae.
  • The ambrite weapon recipe and ambrite fossilized insect descriptions have been updated to better describe the weapons they make.
  • Players will be able to obtain a mysterious seed. Through hard work and cultivation it could sprout into a unique new back item.

    • Fixed a bug that caused monster waves to respawn immediately after being killed in the “Defend Brokentooth Maw” and “Defend the engineers repairing Brokentooth Maw” events.
  • Bloodtide Coast:
    • The shark in the “Kill the Deep Sea Shark” event now has a boss icon overhead.
    • Fixed a gender/model mismatch of a Covington Cannoneer.

    • Fixed a bug preventing players from removing the crippled condition from wounded soldiers when using the Medical Kit bundle near Nebo Terrace.
  • Harathi Hinterlands:
    • Shining Blade Kimber and the trio of centaur war councilors in the “Help Shining Blade Kimber find her husband” event chain now have event icons overhead.
    • The Veteran Bandit Leader in the “Intercept the prisoner caravan” event now has a boss icon overhead.
    • The locations of the four Seraph squads in the “Defend Seraph forces at Bridgewatch Camp from the Modniir assault” event have been given event icons on the world map.
  • Malchor’s Leap:
    • Fixed a wall around the Village of Wren to prevent players from walking through the wall.

    • Fixed the Crucible of Eternity dungeon icon on the world map to hide correctly if the area is undiscovered.

Items

  • All recipe unlock items have received new icons. Icons now match the rarity and type of the output item. Similarly, the rarity of all recipe items now matches the output item’s rarity.
  • Fixed a bug causing Chaos of Lyssa, Chaos of Lyssa (Infused), Light of Dwayna (Infused), and Shadow of Grenth (Infused) to become soulbound when equipped. All soulbound versions of these items will become account bound.
  • Updated the karma vendors at the Orrian temples to each sell armor sets with a single stat combination.

Profession Skills
Engineer

  • Healing Turret:
    • Cleansing Burst: Added a skill fact for conditions removed: 2.

Guardian

  • Hammer Swing / Hammer Bash:
    • Fixed a bug preventing the number of targets skill fact from displaying.
  • Sanctuary:
    • Fixed a bug that caused the Master of Consecrations trait to create a duplicate skill fact.

Necromancer

  • Lich Form:
    • Deathly Claws: Added a pierces skill fact.
    • Marked for Death: Updated the damage skill fact to correctly scale with the Spiteful Marks trait.

Ranger

  • Piercing Arrows:
    • Added pierces and targets per arrow skill facts to affected skills.
  • Mighty Swap:
    • Added a combat only trait fact.

  • The Toxic Unveiling Volley skill no longer shows up on an Arrow Cart’s skill bar until the skill has been unlocked.

BLACK LION TRADING COMPANY GEM STORE
New Items and Promotions

  • The new Home Portal Stone is now available in the Services category for 900 gems. Players can instantly travel to their home city instance and return to their original location on demand.
  • Mini Scruffy is now available in the Toys category of the Gem Store for 500 gems.
  • The Permanent Hair Stylist Contract is now a very rare drop from Black Lion Chests for a limited time.
  • The new Endless Monkey King Tonic is now a very rare drop from Black Lion Chests.

Bug Fix

  • Mini Flame Legion Effigy is now the same scale as other exotic minis.

Do you think if you communicated better you’d avoid some of the huge negativity and toxicity on the WvW forums? Any plans to do something besides hiring more mods and creating additional CoC rules?

Feel free to add more questions guys.

I am going to jump in here answer these as honestly as I am able.

  1. We can’t talk about that right now. Once the in-development features reach a state where we, as a company, are comfortable talking about them, we will.
  2. Some player requests are under development. What those are and when they will be completed, I can’t say at this time for reasons mentioned above.
  3. Devon is very busy with his job duties and only has limited time to devote to reading the forums. If he spent the time demanded of him responding to threads on the forums, his work would suffer. My job duties have me reading and reporting on the forums regularly to ensure that Devon and the rest of the team are aware of active concerns within the WvW community. I do this for other parts of the forum as well. As has been mentioned a multitude of times previously, our developers read the forums as much as they are able, but time prevents them from responding to everything they read.

Correct, it’s mailed to you, it’s not an item in your inventory. If you already have too many mail items, you’ll need to clear out your mailbox to make room for new mail. If it still doesn’t arrive within a few minutes of cleaning your mailbox, try logging out and back in, or switching maps.

Both players have to be on the same story step for it to even offer the option of accepting progress at the end. You’re not going to find another Vigil player on the OOW story step—and if you did, it would default to the next OOW story step in that storyline since that’s the default storyline once you’re on the OOW chain. I’m saying, completing out the current chapter will return the storyline to normal unless they derail it again by grouping up with a player from another Order and choosing to stay on the same storyline as them.

Not quite… Since a player on the Vigil storyline won’t be on the same story step, so it won’t ask you to accept the progress. Also, if you’re the person who started the instance, it will always use your Order/choices for the next step. Things will return to normal next chapter, as long as you don’t complete the end of chapter story step with someone in another Order and accept their progress, since that will (once again) put you on their storyline.

As IC stated above, try logging out and back in. (Sometimes even changing maps will cause the reward splash to pop up.)

John, I just have to say thanks for taking the time and effort to answer some of our meager questions. As someone who does tend to flip items when I can make educated guesses on what to flip, I take great interest and often read this sub forum .

I’m also a person who has had a monopoly on an item for a time. It’s quite profitable, but I’m curious (and yes, this is my question) as to if you/your team does anything if it notices a monopoly; I.E. one or two people working in tandem to control a price.

My followup is: has this been an issue insofar that you’ve noticed it and had to take action?

-As a journalist by profession, my follow-up might seem redundant but it is necessary.
-As a reader of this forum, I appreciate your sometimes snarky responses to those who earn them. I’ll never likely earn one, but if I did, I’d add it to my signature.

Monopolistic or cartel control isn’t really an issue in guild wars 2. Most of the markets won’t bare it for long enough for us to even get around to fixing it, and 99% of the time people trying lose huge quantities of money. I wouldn’t say that we’ve never had to do anything about it, but the details I’m not currently allowed to speak on.

John – (1) how do you view your role in economic management . . . although a micro person, how much, if at all, do you incorporate macro modeling into your work, (2) do you have any real life role models that you follow, and (3) what papers/blogs do you read?

1. The majority of my work ends up being on the macro side, mostly due to limited time.
2/3. Does Urijah Faber count?
I enjoy reading about Nate Silver’s work and I am a big fan of Paul Krugman. I’m not sure I would call them role models because our work is so vastly different, but I would reference their traits of success and excellent work as something to look up to.

Correct, it’s not a bug or an account issue. If you’re playing co-op, at the end of the story step, if the other player is the “owner” of the story instance, it will ask if you want to accept progress and any decisions made by the other player. This is to allow the players to keep playing together, even if they would normally go off on different branches. Note that it hasn’t changed your Order, it’s only changed the storyline you’re currently on.

I would first suggest deleting the contents of the gw2 data folder. As there are several ‘Library’ folders on your system please make sure you are following the steps exactly as they are listed below to get to the correct folder. This is a general fix for many tp and graphics issues, it will however, lose all saved log in/password and in-game settings.

To access this folder:
1 Click on the “Finder” icon located in your dock or the desktop of your computer to make “Finder” the active program.
2 Hold down the “Option” key on your keyboard while clicking “Go” in the finder menu bar. A drop-down will appear.
3 While still holding down the “Option” key, click on “Library” in the “Go” drop-down.
4 Once in the Library folder click on Application Support > Guild Wars 2
5 Move the entire Guild Wars 2 folder to the trash and then empty the trash.
The next time you launch Guild Wars 2 it will recreate the recently deleted folder.

Try to log in and see if you are still experiencing the same issue. If you are, please provide me with the information below:

I just wanted to pop in here and let y’all know I haven’t forgotten about you or these forums.

As I mentioned in my original post I am handling the forums on top of my regular job duties. Because of this, things have been a bit slow to get moving, but I am going to try to stop in here more frequently from here on out.

Lastly, I wanted to thank y’all for being such an awesome community! Even though I just started working with y’all, I have spent a lot of time reading through the Mac forums over the last couple of years and it’s nice to see that you guys are just as willing to help each other now, as you were when the forums first opened.

I see two tickets from your friend, once closed (appropriately) as a duplicate. I suggest he read the sticky post at the top of this sub-forum, because the team is sending responses, and he clearly is not receiving them. Sorry I can’t help more, but he might consider the option of using a different ISP to contact us, being prepared to verify ownership, of course.
