So when we run into Anet people in game you don’t want to talk to us?
But I want to give you hugs and cake? Do you not want cake? Though come to think of it, I’ve never seen Anet people on JQ. I’ve seen you guys on other servers (even as enemies in WvW). Seen you while guesting on Tarnished Coast. But no JQ….
Ah, but don’t worry I don’t actually want to harass you guys in-game. I figure you are running around playing.
I fly with my tag on quite a bit. I seem to have plenty of great conversations. And cake.
I’m sensing a recurring, somewhat creepy theme here.
Hi All,
I will be starting this topic either tomorrow or Monday.

OK, I know this is in the area of tinfoil hats and everything, but in my experience, the results of the first BL key is usually pretty good. This got me wondering – because if it’s programmed like that, it would be pretty smart right? (you get the taste of success, so you continue gambling!). So I tested it, because using 25 keys at once rarely got me anywhere.
So, I used 1 key a day. Surprisingly, this netted me with consistent scraps, I’d say one to two full tickets per 25 keys. And if I didn’t get a scrap, I got another good result (e.g. an expensive BL item). It was slow, but at least I got my scraps. In this manner, I got at least twice as many scraps as I would opening many BL chests all at once. I’d really like to see the test results of others over, say, 25 days, but I also realize noone would be even remotely interested to replicate my crazy tinfoil hat experiment. Plus, this experiment was done before the recent overhaul, so it might be completely outdated information anyway.
I promise you, there are no secret mechanics involved in the chest openings.
Jumping in here for a moment to clarify a few things because there are some misconceptions about that attempt in particular.
1) TTS did not kill the Wurm. A GM was able to examine the boss and get some info and they were off by 0.01%. Even if they had killed it, that is not the end of the encounter, there is still another phase.
2) We’re investigating why the Wurm did not burrow when the event failed.
TTS did manage to sever the heads of all 3 Wurms later in the middle of the night and were the first to see the final phase.
Thanks for the heads-up.

It is currently on our list of features to add to the forums.
Let me double-check on this one and I’ll let you know ASAP. I do not want to write less than clearly about how this works, although I’m pretty sure I know.

On the rate your support page, it gives me the option to type in a comment with my rating, but I do not see a submit button? Am I missing something?
Hmmm… that’s a good question. Let me ask one of the team to look into that.
Just wondering, did you try hitting “Enter” to see if it “took?”
Thanks for letting us know!

Nothing is honestly off the table but surely the clock is ticking for this build. Would be super useful feedback if you guys continue to go into depth on your thoughts (when you post) of why these things would be bad for Structured PvP. This way we could forward your feedback into our concerns/feedback list for them.
Assuming all combos and gear were brought over what would be your list of “yes’s” and “no’s”
Keep in mind clean and healthy discussion is encouraged and that all rune sets have undergone slight number tweaks along with most sigils.
We don’t have currently have plans for creating “new” stats combos but moreso are considering what and what not to “bring over”.

Bug Fixes:
- Fixed a bug in which the experience bar would always appear full after logging in or changing maps at level 80.
- Fixed a rare crash when interacting with the meta-event UI.
- Fixed an issue that was causing inappropriate player exit responses to display in some Living World NPC conversational text.
- Destroyed energy probes will now be visible as icons on both the world map and the minimap as long as power core components can still be harvested from them.

Thanks for the report. Found and fixed little bug that occurred in the merging of some collective data, effectively causing the attack sounds to frequently cut out. So far it appears that only the horn was affected by this.

Hey everyone, thanks for reporting this problem. Rest assured, we’re not ignoring this and are working on a fix.
We’re having a good time reading the speculation on this. /innocent

Repeating a post from a few weeks ago, so those of you who “skip to the end” will have the tools to address the issue.
From the QA team:
“We’ve determined the problem that is outlined in this thread (and a few others) is an issue connected with the TG Updater on Mavericks OS X. We’re currently working on a fix.
The Update can be manually patched by using the steps below:
1. Check current version # of TG Wrapper by navigating to Applications -> Guild Wars 2 -> Get Info
2. If the version is older than 1.0.009524, download TG Update. You can get the TG Update here: http://cider.ncplatform.net/Live/GWII-Update-009524.tgz.
3. After downloading, manually unpack the .TGZ file by double-clicking on it
4. Updater should now be unzipped and visible. Double-click updater and you will be prompted to select your output app
5. Navigate to where your Guild Wars 2 client is located. (default location is Applications -> Guild Wars 2)
6. After selecting Guild Wars 2 you may be prompted by your Mac to allow the update to make changes, if so enter your password and the updater should resume updating. Note: If you are getting a message: “GWII-Update-009524.app” can’t be opened because it is from an unidentified developer". You must allow third party apps in your System Preferences->Security & Privacy->“Allow apps downloaded from anywhere”
7. Once patching has been completed confirm that TG Wrapper version has updated to Version 1.0.009524 by re-following step #1
8. After the update is completed try launching the game client
I believe that user’s work around (above) for the update should work pending the updater not working. I was able to update the TG Wrapper on our Mac with Mavericks from the old wrapper with just unzipping the updater and applying the update.
Here is an additional Work Around if the update does not work:
1. Get a new copy of GW2 Mac Beta client from the GW2 website. Do not open it yet.
2. Move the GW2.dat file from your existing GW2 client (so you don’t have to re-download ~20GB file again). Right click (Control-Click) on the game client, choose “Show Package Contents”, then go to Contents?Resources?transgaming?c_drive?GW2. In this folder, find GW2.dat and move it to Desktop
3. Remove your old GW2 client, including the Guild Wars 2 folder in ~User/Library
4. Install the new GW2 mac beta client.
5. Apply the updater patch you had downloaded at the beginning of this post.
6. Launch the game.
7. When it starts downloading game files, close it.
8. Move the GW2.dat files back into the new GW2 mac beta client. Follow step 2, but this time you will be moving the file from Desktop to GW2 folder."

Also, please note that the devs are working on a more permanent fix with less hoop-jumping.
Gaile, I’m assuming this will not be addressed until the next “features update” (aka 8 weeks from today) considering what Colin said in his 2014 post regarding finishing up the Living World story line. Can you confirm this?
I’m sorry, I truly am not sure about the timeframe. And of course, saying “It’ll come on such-and-such a date” isn’t always the best practice, when something is still in development because, well, development may take longer than expected, the team may expand the project to add more developer-y goodness to the overall fixes, etc., etc.
I am sure when there’s info to share we will update this thread.
Thanks for your patience, guys. It’s very appreciated!

I sent in another ticket. I hope resetting my display name an pass will fix it this time. I need my GW fix! I am not giving up on this until it gets fixed.
Again, you log in with your Account Name which is an e-mail address and not your Display Name. We don’t reset Display Names, and changes to Account Names would not, I don’t think, correct this issue.

Hello. Its DNDeath.2960 i write you after long time with question. I dont have anytime to play gw2 right now ( work, study totaly take my time) so i think im must over with this game. If this still possible refound money for this game and gems what i buy ?
A ticket to support will answer your question, of course. I just need to say that it seems odd that after a “long time” you’re asking for a refund. Would you expect a refund for clothes you wore for a year, or for a book that you’d read, or for a CD that you listened to for months? Again, the Support Team can answer your question, but please think about the fairness of such a request.

So what we are going to do if our account banned and not violates their rules? My friend appeal and replied to the support because he is innocent on this incident, if he is botting maybe he will forget that account and buy another and start botting again but that is not an issue he is innocent and not violates any rules so he want his account back..
He can discuss this with an agent, but from what it appears in this thread, he was shown leniency and consideration in the first case and chose to breach the rules again a second time, at which the account was permanently closed.
This is not an attempt to sell more games. This is an attempt to enforce our rules, even if we occasionally show generosity in allowing a second chance.
Well the support already replied to my friend email, Just want to clear anyone here that after the false ban and you did that again you can’t recover your account forever.. So doing Gates of Arah event is bannable LOL!!!
Nonsense. What’s “bannable” is cheating while doing the event. If your friend did not cheat, he can explain that to the agents and they’ll review. Obviously, cheaters claim they are not cheaters, but if an error was made, your friend can work with the agents to sort that out. No forum member can resolve this so the thread is now closed.

“Our investigation confirms that your account was involved in the violation for which it was cited. However, we are going to extend leniency to you on a one-time basis and we have reinstated your account access, you may rejoin the game now”.
I’ve seen this statement before on previous threads and I admit it’s a puzzling one. Either someone was botting and deserves a ban or they were not and it was a mistaken ban. I’ve never seen an official statement on why they say this so here are my idle speculations, based on snippets of info from reading the forum since launch.
My guess is that Support is not part of ANet. That it’s a separate company that ANet pays to run their support services. If so, this company would have is own policies and lawyers that handle mistakes. So, this statement would appear to be a piece of legalese imposed by the lawyers to reduce the chance of a lawsuit if that company makes a mistake when banning someone. It’s not an independent statement from the person handling your case but a set statement required by the lawyers when closing a case where someone was falsely banned.
Please, don’t speculate, you couldn’t be more mistaken! All of what you’ve said is simply inaccurate. I sit at ArenaNet. Many CS agents sit at ArenaNet, as well. ArenaNet sets all policy and all legal issues are determined by ArenaNet Legal Counsel, not some anonymous third-party-company’s attorneys. (And who would contract with an agency and have them drive legal business for the company that hired them?) Lastly, lawyers do not monitor or drive our support responses. They might be consulted on a rare occasion, but certainly we’re not intentionally defining a poor response or giving a bad answer to a player in order to avoid some sort of legal consequences.
Again, please don’t speculate based on “snippets,” or forum involvement, or the reading of tea leaves, or the casting of bones.

As this is not a t hread about Guild Wars 2, we’re closing it. We would like to, however, support the OP’s efforts by linking to this thread: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/How-to-Give-Good-Feedback
It is extremely helpful to pass around to other community members when you see feedback which isn’t all that constructive. Our hope is that it will encourage folks to express both positive & negative feedback in a constructive manner. This is imperative for the Developers when looking for said feedback.
In case you haven’t seen it, there is a discussion happening on this thread, with Anthony’s update: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Consumables-Nerf/page/4#post3535562
Update: engineering is looking into this, I don’t have an ETA for a fix though, sorry!
Hey there,
We do encourage our developers to interact with players, but primarily here, on the forums. When we’re in game, it’s typically because we’re there to play and not as much to chat. We encourage you to post your feedback and ask questions here on the forums. If you’re looking for a more direct interaction, keep an eye out for the next Collaborative Development (CDI) thread. This sticky links to previous CDI threads, so you can get a feel for them and will link to the active CDI thread, when ones comes available. If the next CDI thread is WvW or PvP, you’ll want to check out the stickies in those sections (linked from within that post).
On cooldown length:
- The 30 minute length is based on the effective duration of the items (5 minutes). Compared with the Glyph of Lesser Elementals (Elemenatlist utility skill, 1 minute duration), 5 minutes is quite long.
- It’s possible that we could go to something more like 1 minute duration, 5 minute cooldown, but that’s getting back into re-balancing the item. With a re-balance we stand to raise equal or more controversy. Currently you can at least continue using the item to whatever end it was used before, albeit in a more limited fashion. Had we changed it completely, you may have been able to use the item more frequently but no longer in the same capacity as before.
On dungeons/instance:
- Yes there is a cumulative cost of having tons of these in instances. Without getting into too many technical details, 150 people in 30 dungeons using this item is just as bad as 150 people in 1 public map. Even if you have not experienced skill lag personally, there are constraints and instances do hit them.
- It is therefore completely unfair to assign blame to players who enjoy the large open world events. The events represent drastic instances of the problem, but the change was made to address the entirety of the issues that are being caused across the game.
On consumable design, in general:
- It’s not really my place to comment too widely on this aspect of the game. I do know for certain it would not be consistent with some of GW2’s fundamental design pillars to create an environment where everyone is expected to have on-hand some elaborate set of consumables needing to be laboriously maintained and activated. This is why, for example, you are allowed only one food buff at a time.
Thank you all for your reports, we are still working on the issue. If you could please post further updates on the main forum page for this issue, it would better help us keep track of it!
Thank you for your patience, we are still working to find a permanent fix for this elusive issue. We are looking for servers where Tocatl is missing after the Origins of Madness release.
If Tocatl is missing from your server, it would help us if you could please post with the Server name, date, and time you noticed he was missing.
I’d like to shed some additional light here since I actually made the change to the summoning items.
First of all, I’m sorry that you guys are disappointed with the change. Unfortunately, we knew this was going to happen and we tried to come up with a solution to mitigate the disappointment as much as possible.
Here’s some facts about the circumstances you may find interesting:
- the change was made mostly to address the Fire Elemental Powder and the Ogre Pet Whistle since they cause the most problems. Other items were modified because they had the potential to become problems.
- these items are not the same as pets that the player professions can summon, for these reasons:
- the items had no cooldown, meaning that the summoned creatures are effectively invincible and can always be alive assuming the player has more items
- there’s no limit on how many different items you can use at the same time. Meaning you can have both the elemental and the ogre pet simultaneously
- unfortunately, the creatures were not specifically designed to the constraints we have on pets in general. They are way more costly than your average ranger pet. In fact, they are exactly the same as the versions you fight in the open world which is what makes them so powerful.
- regardless of balance, the change was definitely made to address the various performance concerns that arise from allowing unlimited uses of the item by everyone in a map. Both the client and server are affected by having the extra creatures around.
- the need for the change was identified months ago. Many members of the team were adamantly against making the change because they knew it would destroy a popular strategy.
Given all of that information, and the introduction of two brand-new world events, something had to be done. Ultimately we decided with the cooldown approach because:
- we did not want to debuff/rebalance the potency of the creature resulting from a single use
- we did not want to completely eliminate the use of the item in large events
- it was not possible to clearly and cleanly message why the item would not be usable in large events or when there are too many nearby
The end result was a hefty cooldown, which honestly could have ended up being a lot longer.
Although we do our best to anticipate issues with various rewards designs, occasionally something goes unnoticed until it becomes a large problem. As customers, you probably witness less than 1% of these rejected designs. Of that small percentage that slip by, an even smaller percentage end up needing to be changed. Nothing ever gets removed because it’s fun. It just happens that fun things can sometimes get in the way other people having fun—like an item that cripples an entire server and causes everyone to have skill activation lag.
Tons of ideas get filtered out by discussion, data validation, quality assurance, and performance reporting on development branches. Most of them are good, fun ideas that we just can’t reasonably support. We’ll have to share some stories in a happier thread someday. For now I’ll be happy to answer any additional questions you might have on this topic.
Our very own Maclaine Diemer composed the two pieces used in the Marionette fight. They should be up on the ArenaNet soundcloud page in a few days.
All he gave me was this shirt…
This shirt is best in life.
It’s on our list of things to fix in the software.
While Lich does a metric ton of damage, it’s also extremely telegraphed and on a rather long cooldown. If anything, Lich does an excellent job of area-denial – I’ll gladly vacate a point for 20 seconds or so to avoid it.
This is unrelated, but I remember a certain PvP team that ran 2 Lich necros and Time Warp mesmer (before the haste changes). It was brutal.
Anyways, as you were…
