We’ve mentioned a few times prior that we’re looking at rebalancing the top-end of ranks to make them more attainable. We came to this decision after player feedback persuaded us to leave ranks into the game, rather than cut them.
The amount of rank points needed to hit 80 is too darn high.
Other teams aside from PvP create finishers, as you’re also able to use them in PvE and WvW.
The proposed changes to critical damage gear aren’t specifically PvE-focused, but focused rather on the stat weighting of critical damage itself. We’re not aiming to make crit damage unviable, just to bring it closer to other gear sets.
As for the first feature build, there will be other factors coming into play that could very well offset the changes, including reworked runes/sigils, the ability to use sigils in new combinations (including 2 on a two-handed weapon), and the profession balance changes. Just something to keep in mind.
It should work that food eaten right after the primer lasts 12 hours. Scattered reports of a bug perhaps here.
Talmor, the way you read it originally is how it should work. Do you know exactly what food you were using? Also, what maps / areas you were in?
Spunkeimania, you can eat food during the 12 hours.. it will change which food buff you have but the duration should still last the rest of the 12 hours (rounded up, so never less than an hour)
The fact that most of these items ever existed is just blatantly a bug. The decision to throw cooldowns on them were for server performance/stability as the patch notes said, not for balance. Period. This was something that was long overdue.
Think of it this way: Between the embers and whistle, those items were effectively doubling/tripling the amount of players active in a map.
As for the Charrzooka, I’m not sure what the reasoning behind that change was. That wasn’t part of the change to summons, or at least that I’m aware of.
The bringer of bad news,
-Bill
Bug Fix:
- Fixed a bug that prevented the Twisted Marionette event from functioning correctly after it had been successfully completed.
Thanks for the thoughtful comments and honest criticisms regarding the story instance. We tried something new this time by putting a lot of character moments into a single area, but also by allowing folks to advance their LW progress while making the scenes available as optional story bits. We realize that for some players who haven’t met these characters before, there was a lot of “catching up” to do, but we hope you found it entertaining. The fact that many of you are speculating about where these characters are headed in the future makes me smile. Thanks for that.

Bug Fixes:
- Fixed a bug that caused inventory bags to start in the collapsed state.
- Fixed a bug in which the pirate in Crusader Xutt’s escort event would perpetually remain in the game, causing the escort to stall on all future attempts.
- Fixed an issue that could cause the powder keg counter for the cobalt great jungle wurm encounter to decrement incorrectly.
- Fixed a bug that was preventing players from being invited to PvP rosters.
- Fixed a server crash.
Thread bumping is not allowed. Closing this thread as this issue has been reported.
This looks shopped. I can tell from some of the pixels and from seeing quite a few shops in my time.
For the second time my account somehow got compromised.
I have for the second time successfully reclaimed my account.I have e-mail verification enabled.
I have viewed my account’s Authorised Networks and all the network’s IPs are located in Britain (where I live).
Either the individual(s) who have compromised my account in the past are situated in Britain or they are somehow able to by-pass my email Authentication.
I have been getting emails telling me that IPs in China (as an example) have been trying to access my account. So, the Authentication system is working on some threats.I would like to understand why this is happening.
P.S. I do not own a Smart Phone, therefore I cannot take advantage of the Smart Phone App verification. I own a none-smart phone. It feels like upgrading to a smart phone to protect my account is rather petty.
Because this involves security, I’d like to suggest that you confer with an agent about this via a ticket. It would not be prudent for us to discuss the matter in a public forum, since the information involved is related to your security, and because in a general sense, talking about this might provide details that a would-be hacker could capitalize upon for others in a situation similar to yours.

Josh already said it before, so I will quote him here. Emphasis mine.
To clear up the confusion, the balance updates will be in the next feature build – a build that adds features to the game. The next feature build will take place after the Living World season has finished. Today’s update added another chapter to the Living World story arc.
Here’s a quote from Colin’s blog post last year on the subject:
Due to the size and scope of the final four story releases in season one, the next round of major features will be bundled together into a large “feature only” release that will come after the first season of the Living World 2014 has finished. Once the story has completed, we’ll go into much greater detail on what’s to follow, but for now we want to focus on making sure our last four episodes shine.
The above is what we were referring to on the livestream with ‘feature build’. As I mentioned in my post on the PvP forums earlier today, previewing something on Friday and releasing it on the next Tuesday would give us an incredibly small amount of time to react to feedback – and that wouldn’t be fair to you.
Basically the question is – is there any way at all that a guild bank can move servers with you?
In a nutshell, as explained above, no. The guild bank will stay on the world on which it was created.

Yes, you are correct. Here’s the difference in names:
Account name = log-in game = user name = An email address at account creation and used to log in to the account. Your account name can be changed through a support ticket.
Display name = A rather generic (in most cases) alias that identifies you in the game and on the forums but protects your e-mail address/user/account/log-in name. Hey guys,
You must participate in the marionette encounter in order to progress to the step where you go to LA. You do not have to WIN the fight, only participate. Once you participated that step should go away.
(edited by Paul Belz.7351)
In order to complete these achievements you have to succeed the Warden event (the entire event up on the platforms) without being hit by the Marionette. If you are hit, you don’t get it. If you fail the event, you don’t get it. Stay sharp and break that chain and you’ll have it.

Just to be clear, the “region lock” applies only to registration, it does not apply to the world on which a player participates in the game. So as the kind players explained above, your friend can purchase anywhere, register, and then select a game world.

Snip.
The sooner we talk about the changes the longer we have to react to feedback, as we’re always approaching deadlines. We mentioned that the changes wouldn’t be going in until the feature build, but I suppose that not everyone is familiar with that terminology quite yet. As I mentioned in a previous post, we’ll work on being more clear when discussing our plans.
Sorry for the delay, was typing.
The first ‘feature build’ as we’re calling it, won’t go live until the current Living World story arc wraps up. The next feature build will contain substantial PvP updates, the balance items we talked about on Friday, and hopefully even more things that we aren’t ready to talk about yet.
The scope of the balance changes going in is massive. Honestly, putting all of the changes we talked about on Friday straight into the game today would have been extremely kneejerk, and I’m sure many of you would agree that some of the changes needed additional eyes on them before they hit live. We want the time to go through the feedback and make adjustments, and we’re already doing that.
I’m sorry if we gave you the impression that there would be a balance update today – that was not our intent.

Herosandwich, our billing provider is really careful about taxes, making sure they collect when legally appropriate and that they not collect when not required by law.
So if sales tax is being charged in any state or region, I feel confident that the charge is correct, even if previously a player did not have a sales tax charge on their bill. However, it’s good to ask the question, and I hope this info puts your mind at ease about the charge.

All of the friendly soldiers can be revived, and they auto-revive after each wave, so their bodies don’t vanish if they’re defeated.
Don’t worry when it starts it is going to kick you out.

No. I don’t think so. Also, the invite bug should be fixed now.

@zilcho.7624: Are you taking into consideration the rating reset that happened about a month ago?
1) It could be that your MMR was reset higher than it was before. This should settle quickly because your deviation and volatility were also reset.
2) Playing during off-peak hours, especially while your deviation/volatility were high, could have caused your MMR to settle somewhere higher or lower than it should be.
Of course, this is just speculation. I will keep an eye on your account and see if I learn more.

Hey, everybody. Please note this (added, as well, to the post: A Note About Phishing):
Important Update as of January 2014
In the past we have said we would not send warnings or notifications about support actions. However, as of January 2014, we are sending some e-mails that warn a player of a chat violation or that notify a player and his/her account has been suspended for a chat violation. (Note GW2 Rules of Conduct) This system will help players avoid a suspension by making better in-game choices. It also will help suspended players learn what they did to earn that suspension so that they can avoid further impact on their account.
Please note:
- These notification and warning e-mails from Customer Support will never contain live or active links.
- The e-mails instead will refer you (without a link) to our Support System for assistance so you can control accessing the ticket system.
- At this point, warnings and notifications are only for chat violations.
If you are not sure about the legitimacy of an e-mail, please never hesitate to ask through a ticket or on this forum. However, the easiest way for you to check on this is to look for a link. If you see a live link in an Customer Support-oriented e-mail that you did not request, it’s not from us and you should delete that e-mail as probable phishing.
And remember, the warnings and notifications are sent only as a courtesy. You’re safe to delete all such mails, and may do so if you’re more comfortable taking that step.

Thanks for the feedback, Countless. The whole reason we put the changes out ahead of time is so we can hear the arguments for and against the changes. If we didn’t care about feedback we’d just ninja the changes in on patch day.
Roy has another post over on the balance forums on the same topic. For those that haven’t ventured over, this type of post/feedback would be best suited over there.
i may be wrong but surely its simpler to log on your test character and deposit the items into your storage as they share across all characters. storage can be located in any major city or starting area and are labeled as banks on the map.
perhaps im missing something about this issue but if not then that seems like the best option, rather than having support go and delete characters and shuffle things around
~cheers
I believe you’re right! I mis-read and thought the first character had been deleted with the items. Yes, the chest and items are initially account bound. If you use the skins, then they become character- (or soul-) bound. But you can open the chest and retrieve the items with any character, even your second. Just be sure that when you use the skin, you choose wisely.

As to terminology, yes, it can be confusing. Here’s the skinny:
Account name = log-in game = user name = An email address at account creation and used to log in to the account. Your account name can be changed through a support ticket.
Display name = A rather generic (in most cases) alias that identifies you in the game and on the forums but protects your e-mail address/user/account/log-in name. After all, Fred@ThisEmailProvider.com is part of your account credentials. No one can or should be able to hack or assume your identity using LittleFreddyFooFoo.1234.
I have put in a request to make a change to our interface that would greatly aid this situation, but UI changes take time. I will check on that request this weke.

TSLlol.4879 – I did not find a ticket from you in the system. If you need to do so, you can simply e-mail support at Support@GuildWars2.com. We want to get you the help you need.
wrobel — I’m sorry if you found your ticket language confusing, but please keep this in mind: Anyone could write in from a second e-mail account and say “I own the account named Fred@ThisEmailProvider.com, please change it to [new name].” Yes anyone could attempt that. If we simply said “Oh, sure, here ya go” that person writing may or may not actually be the account holder, and we could be allowing someone to get hacked through our own support system.
We ask questions because that is the way to ensure we are helping the real account holder, and doing what, and only what, the account holder desires. I think the inconvenience of answering those questions would pale when compared to the knowledge that we’re taking care to use appropriate security measures for your account.
