Feel free to make a suggestion thread for files you want to see in that API. The initial set is just a relatively random set that I picked as a proof of concept.
But make no mistake. If you didn’t make your Gold from the Queen’s Gauntlet, or Champion farming, you’ll be left behind in terms of wealth. That’s why it’ll be interesting to see how Anet responds to this.
This is incredibly hyperbolous. In the last week, the median player earned less than 3 gold in the new content (that’s discounting all players who earned less than 1 gold).
Hello everyone,
It sounds like we’re very much on the same page with a lot of general ideas for the sylvari. Heck, I’ve had concepts drawn up for long hair, flowers and dreads since before ship that I’d love to see. Even palm trees were on that hen scratching sheet. And more. ;}
So long as we’re talking philosophy (because as I mentioned before in the previous disclaimer, these are not promises or schedules: this is a wish list, right?), there are a couple things I though you might like discussed.
In most cases, I personally agree with minimizing the line between male and female styles. In my opinion, males can wear flowers just as much as females can wear spikes. The styles we shipped with were a combination of retrofitting earlier sylvari art direction and creating styles to flesh out the race. If when we shipped we had males and females wear the same styles, we wouldn’t be as able to create varied silhouettes. Creating variety can be more important than hair equality when you have a limited amount of time to build a full race. At ship, of course. :}
Having said that, I do think as an artist there are some styles and concepts that work better on one gender over another. Just because a male can wear a flower, it doesn’t have to be the same design as the female. I believe in tailoring to characters, not being shackled to principles for principle’s sake.
Oh, I wanted to mention that I love love LOVE all the drawings that you guys are doing and would love to see more! But just so you know: mosses, dandelion puffs and other soft forms (pine needles, too) are difficult to create when you only have access to load alpha — as are cascades of flowers or complex blossoms due to poly count. There are certain restrictions in place for creating a hair or face for the game. That’s not to say it’s impossible, however, but it may be impractical.
For the question of hairstyles pulling a lot of skin color, that’s because the first dye channel blends with the skin in order to create the ‘growing from’ look. If I use the skin tone to work with it, the hair feels more complex than just one color shade. This can change from hairstyle to hairstyle, of course. There’s a need for both. But if you have a bark body, I don’t have the channels to give you a color for leaves and a color for flowers. I have to pick one.
I’ve noticed for faces, most requests are at the end of the spectrum… folks seem to want pretty or creature, not as much in between. Interesting. Out of curiosity, why not? The race was designed to live in the in between. Any thoughts? :}
If you guys have the stamina, keep posting sketches! It’s so awesome seeing them and they are inspiring! I’d join you in drawing if I didn’t think it’d be picked up by some article and reported as an official release. ;P Ah well, I can live vicariously through all of you! Art it up, guys!

As devs, we’re always watching the meta and trying to make sure we don’t “force” the meta in one direction or another. Metas are always driven by player perception, so our goal is to provide the players with multiple viable choices, and let them decide how they want to approach the game.
Perception of balance is key in how players approach the game, so our goal right now is to open up more options through balance without completely taking away the condition “meta” option.

@ MMR: We’re working on a fix for the grouping issue you point out in picture 1. This fix should also help to alleviate some of the queue issue as well.
@ Class diversity: I’ve also seen games (referring to your pics) with a ton of Rangers, or a ton of Thieves, or too many Warriors, or a ton of bunker Guardians. In your pic of the top players, you see 6 of the 8 classes. The community also seems to feel that Warriors are in a good place right now in PvP. That’s 7 classes. You could make a case that Mesmers have a hard time in a hard condition meta, and I think a lot of people would agree with you. They have counters to conditions, but a lot of players don’t like to run those in standard Mesmer setups.
@ Balance: Perception of balance is always changing, so we’ll continue to try to make sure all classes have good options!

Hi Aquataine – I know it sounds like a pretty obvious step, but I think it’s good to start with the basics. Have you tried deleting the local.dat file and then repairing the client? Beyond this I’d like for you to create a support ticket so that we can better assist you one on one and see what’s going on here.
If you are asking about using Guild Wars 2 music in videos about Guild Wars 2, and if all other use conforms to our Content Terms of Use (linked above), then you should be fine. Hi hasggar – Could you please post your system specs to this thread? This is generally the result of a system not meeting the minimum requirements.
SeVeN – You have a lot of running background processes enabled. I’d recommend disabling any security software that you have (as a test, not a permanent solution) or trying an Msconfig to disable all non-Microsoft start-up apps in one go.
Posting to complain about a process within a few minutes of submitting a ticket is not appropriate. Best to see the ticket resolved and fully understand the facts of the case before posting. A submit-and-post can be perceived — although I do not in this particular case — as nothing more than a “rant.” Again, I do not perceive the OP to be ranting, but I am making provably effective suggestions for the best way for us to work together on these individual issues.
Rest assured that I’m making substantive suggestions for improving things on every side. And you also can be sure I am pursuing — have in fact already pursued — internal information about the processes and an assessment of how we can reduce false positives.
In addition to that, I’m inquiring about turn-around times, because we have been answering tickets more promptly in recent months, and I want to make sure that — despite an internal issue with tickets that caused some delays — we get back to fast responses as soon as we can!

You can gift items from the Gemstore by clicking the present button next to the standard purchasing buttons.
The trading post is a set of offers. When you state to sell or buy something you state you’re willing to trade or buy at that price. Economically, I see no fault with the current system and how well it functions, I see no market failures and no effect on velocity of trading.
That being said, is the argument that undercutting is negative because it’s inconvenient and the value people are undercutting as a % is inconsequential?
Or is the argument that undercutting is a side effect of some other issue?
Or both or neither?
You can install the game on multiple computers and play an account on any/all of those systems. You will need a unique serial code for each game account. So you could have one installation on your computer and four people could use that installed copy, but they would each need to log in using a unique log-in or account name (which is an e-mail address) and a password for that individual account, as well.

Yeah, the same thing happened to me. I traded gold with 2 other guildies, using the guild bank to transfer between us. One guildie loaned 175 gold, I loaned 25 gold and the 3rd loaned nothing, only borrowed the 200 from us. I got a ban and they didn’t. It took 27 hours to get unbanned, most of which was waitng for them to contact me. Once they contacted me, they resolved it in minutes. I guess once they actually looked they could see the gold entering and leaving the account within a few minutes span. It did make me wonder why they couldn’t see this before they banned me.
We try like crazy to avoid these, but sometimes one slips through the cracks. As you noted, we are able to verify the details and get you back on your account, but we’ll continue to see how we can avoid these altogether.

Gaile, I sent you a PM. I don’t think I am supposed to post other people’s display name in forum.
I have looked up the account in question, and the ticket. Apparently, this post was made immediately upon submission of the ticket. I certainly can understand that you’d want a very prompt response, but to submit a ticket and post on the forums immediately afterwards is just not appropriate. Our means of follow up is here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/Tickets-for-Review-3-days-and-older-merged/first#post48339
It has been 24 hours now, and I wish that you had received a response more quickly than this. The team is backed up (we had some issues with the ticketing system, darn it!) but I think your husband will hear soon.
Thank you for understanding the process that we request, and thank you, also, for patience as the team reviews the ticket.

Again, thanks for listening and reporting!
It sounds like you’re still on the lead up steps to the final choice. Before choosing a permanent order, you’re given a series of branching story steps to give you a chance of trying out the different orders. Each branch offers a choice between two order missions.
It would be very helpful to have the display names of the accounts impacted by this. I mean those whose accounts were mentioned here as having been terminated in the last day or two, specifically.
Thank you.

Hi guys, just want to let you all know that hackers are abundant, and that my account was stolen not 5 days ago…Luckily i had the proper information, and ArenaNet was able to give me back my account. I want to say THANK YOU to all the support team working on the game, and to the little booka who stole my account, i am deleting the lvl 22 asura i found that you created after i got my account back. Stay away!
I am glad the team could help you… and yes, I admit it, I’m especially glad because I am utterly charmed by your display name! I’m sure you did it, but be sure to change your password to lock down your security.

Oh don’t feel back for not knowing that. Sometimes, a player will write to say “Uhhh, why do I have this stuff on my account?” and we find that the account — while still accessible by the legitimate players — is being used as a mule or delivery account by an RMT company. So it doesn’t hurt to ask, and look here: nice players were able to help you out with the info you needed. ~beams~

One more thought, if I may:
If the appeal process seems overly detailed, or if you feel a bit resentful of the amount of info that we require before restoring an account or reviewing a case of alleged botting or RMT activity, know this: We must and will take extreme care with each player’s account. We will ask questions, and ask more questions, if need be, to ensure that you are the account holder, or that you’re the victim of an account compromise and we safely can turn the account over to you. You. Not the person who gained your credentials through a third party and is pretending to own your account. You, the person who bought the account, who played it, and who cares about it as something more than a bunch of stuff to steal.
If the alternative to answering questions, up to and including the brand of your kitchen sink is that the bad guys gain access to your account, you would not want it any other way!

We are always sorry when someone is caught in a “false positive.” But I want to explain that in order to take out thousands — and it has been thousands — of botters, cheaters, and gold sellers, we need to review data and make decisions that may, occasionally, result in an innocent person getting caught in the net. This is something we deeply regret, and this is something we work to address on a daily basis, by reviewing the instances where a block is placed in error, reviewing the data around it, and adjusting the parameters by which an innocent player is blocked.
I feel we need to do two things: We need to reduce the “false positives” to as close to zero as humanly possible. And we need to address the legitimate appeals as quickly as possible. The first will never be 100%, but we can and should strive to get as close to 100% as possible. The second should be a focus, but quite frankly, virtually everyone whose account is actioned (suspended, terminated, “banned,” or what have you) will submit an appeal. Some of the most vociferous appeals are from those who are absolutely and positively cheaters, exploiters, botters, or gold sellers. But because we feel that everyone deserves a review, and because we show each player respect in investigating the situation to affirm the action on the account (or reverse it, in cases of error) the number of tickets can be high, and the turnaround time can be longer than we — or you! — would like.
There’s no way to “pre-screen” tickets. Each person deserves “his/her day in court” and that means that if XX% of those who appeal are guilty — and I’d call that percentage very close to 99% — and even if the action on their account is upheld, that appeal and that review stalls the review of the innocent player.
Let me talk to the team and see what we can do about addressing both situations: The false-positives and delays in addressing appeals. We want to do the very best we can for every legitimate player, while we want to serve the legitimate player by removing the cheaters, the exploiters, the botters, the scammers, and the other unsavory individuals who negatively impact your gaming experience.

I’ll be locking this thread now, as it’s way off topic.
I removed his ability to use champion level skills (like the Locust Shield) which should make him a lot easier. I don’t have an ETA for when it will appear in an update, but it’s in the queue.
Since this thread has drifted widely off topic, was barely on topic for this forum to begin with and contains a lot of unfair an unnecessary bashing of the WvW team, I’ll be shutting it down now.
I’ve downgraded the Plaguebringer to a veteran, so that should stop it from using Locust Shield among other abilities. When the champion plaguebringer was upgraded to make it better for open world content, it was assumed to be facing multiple players. I don’t have an ETA for when the change will go live, but it’s in the queue for inclusion in a future update.

Hi YellowSnow,
Are you getting a specific error code at all?
Hello again!
As I feared, it looks like you’re getting “out of memory” error crashes:
- Crash <—*
Out of Memory: DxBuffer (type:static) (pool:9) (size:1207616),
App: Gw2.exe
While we do have some suggestions for helping players work around this issue, ultimately we need you to understand that this is a limitation of 32-bit Operating Systems and not actually of Guild Wars 2. The main issue here is simply memory limitations inherent in 32-bit Operating Systems, which you can actually see below in your Game Advisor report:
Memory: 3072 MB RAM
Available OS Memory: 3072 MB RAM
According to our report, you have upwards of 4.GB of RAM but due to how 32-bit operating system work, you can only use 3.5GB total. The problem comes in the form of the additional video memory your graphics card has:
Display Memory: 2159 MB
Dedicated Memory: 879 MB
Shared Memory: 1279 MB
This is where it gets a little complex but the short version is that the additional memory can push your total available memory into negative numbers resulting in crashes or simply, “out of memory errors.” Some players have resolved this by upgrading to 64-bit operating systems and others have simply removed physical RAM from the system to bring the memory totals closer to values intended for that revision of Windows (32-bit). Obviously removing RAM from your PC is not an ideal solution but I wanted to give you all the information we have found regarding these issues. You can read more about this issue from Microsoft here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929605 but the important part is listed below:
“For example, if you have a video card that has 256 MB of onboard memory, that memory must be mapped within the first 4 GB of address space. If 4 GB of system memory is already installed, part of that address space must be reserved by the graphics memory mapping. Graphics memory mapping overwrites a part of the system memory. These conditions reduce the total amount of system memory that is available to the operating system.”
One solution presented by players being affected by this is to change the “Maximum pre-rendered frames” in the Nvidia control panel. To do this:
1. Right-click on your desktop and select “Nvidia Control Panel.”
2. Select "Manage 3D Settings.
3. Scroll down until you find “Maximum pre-rendered frames” and change it from “Use the 3D application settings” to “1.”
Once completed, click “Apply” to save your changes and try Guild Wars 2 again.
Beyond this, I’d recommend turning down some of your in-game graphics settings.
Sorry I couldn’t have better news for you.
Thanks for getting in touch. Looks like Facebook flagged your image link as spam–you should be fine now.
Hey Idis,
You might try the steps listed in this sticky post here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/mac/Basic-Mac-Beta-Client-Troubleshooting
it should resolve the issue you’re experiencing. Let me know if it does not.
Hi Lord Erik – Glad to hear that the issue was resolved for you! More than likely, as Kyllaa mentioned, you may simply be lacking a space in your Target line for the repair option.
SuddenFool – Whatever issue your’e experiencing, I’d recommend creating a new thread being as detailed as possible in regards to your issue or creating a technical support ticket.

Posted by: Ashley Segovia.8276
Hi AzureDragon – Since you’ve got some CRC errors in the crash log my first suggestion would have been a Disk Check. Since you’ve already tried this, I’m curious to know if you’re over-clocking any of your hardware. Is this the case?
Hi Billaboong – You can absolutely download the patch from a faster network.
Hi Soccerspeed,
The local.dat has all local information for the client, in-game settings, for example. Usually deleting this file and following with a repair is a good first step for client crash issues.
In your case, with the specific error message that you’re getting, this sounds like your issue may be your GPU drivers. Could you please provide your system specs, maybe even a DxDiag?
Hey guys -
The instructions below will change the way Guild Wars 2 connects on your network. In short, this will force all data inbound and outbound to use port 80. Since port 80 is a very common port, it usually has the least amount of issues with transmission of data. To do this:
1. Locate the file “GW2.exe” and right-click it, selecting “Create Shortcut.”
2. Rename this shortcut to “Guild Wars 2 Port Test.”
3. Right-click on this shortcut and select “Properties.”
4. Edit the “Target” line to include /clientport 80 at the end.
Note: Please make sure /clientport 80 is outside of the quotes
Correctly Formatted Example: “C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe” /clientport 80
Incorrectly Formatted Example: “C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe /clientport 80”
5. Once completed, click “Ok” to save your changes.
If you get an error trying to save, your target line may not have the correct format. Please try step 4 again.
6. Double click “Guild Wars 2 Port Test” and try connecting again.
Let me know if this helps!
