Here are some important facts about forums and forum etiquette:
- Please do not submit-and-post This iwll not expedite your ticket and it takes time away from others whom we can help. Tickets will be handled in the order received.
- Please do not submit multiple tickets. That absolutely will slow your resolution.
- Please update your existing ticket if you find you have additional information.
- Please do not rant, rage, or carry on. That is, don’t post to protest your suspension or termination or to try to arouse public outcry about your situation. Forum members cannot and do not know your situation, and they’re savvy enough — and have seen enough evidence in previously disproved rants — to know that “I didn’t do it” or “I was mistreated” or “I was ‘banned’ for a name that isn’t bad!” very often is not accurate at all.

- Please do not post petitions or testimonials. Your case will be carefully appraised and we will do the best we can to help, but having 10 friends vouch for you clogs the system and doesn’t add anything or change the outcome.
Having said all that:
- Please do submit a ticket. discuss these personal matters directly with Support by filing a ticket through the “Ask a Question” tab on that linked page. We want to help in any case that we can!
- Please do update us if you still need help. If you have not had an answer from Support in three days, you may post in the sticky thread Tickets for Review – 3 days and older

Hi Dyfo!
Are you in the United States? or in Europe?
As I stated above, what it sounds like then is you were never credited with advancing your own story, even if you were helping a friend advance theirs. So even though you remember getting as far as you did, your character’s story never got that far.

No problem Colly. The link isn’t related to Skill Delay but it’s just an example of a response from Gameplay Programmer Bill Freist who says he is aware of this issue and making it his priority at the moment.
Again, I’m sorry for any inconvenience this may cause but we don’t have an ETA for a fix at this time.
Is Armor Guard in your journal at all?
Is it in your quest journal?
Disabling right-click to attack/interact is certainly the safest first approach to this issue. There are two problems, though. Anytime you have camera-look and targeting on the same input, you will have conflicting behavior. There isn’t a bug that targets are randomly selected, but rather the game trying to be smart at recognizing clicks versus camera movement. Even when you think you’re perfectly clicking on a target, most of the time you’re also moving the camera a tiny, tiny bit. There is a small threshold that determines whether your tiny movement should actually be a target selection. Lowering this threshold will reduce the chances of this happening, but is one of those numbers where we need to sit on it for a while to see if it ‘feels right’. The problem could also be solved by completely separating the different functionality of selection, auto-attacking, and camera movement. However, completely splitting those is not something we’re prepared to work on at the moment as it is a much broader-reaching change. I hope this helps clear up what’s happening and what steps we’ll take to change it. Thank you again for all the feedback!

Hello Colly – Just letting you know that Skill Delay is a known issue and this has been addressed multiple times in various threads as seen here:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Eyefinity/page/3#post2088595
At this time there is no ETA for a fix but it is being looked into.
Hey,
I just bought another serial code for my account to use on my wife’s email so she can play. I bought it with PayPal, and I’m probably being impatient, but how long does it usually take to get the email with the serial code? It’s been 20 minutes so far, and I don’t know, I guess I kinda just assumed it would be a moderately instantaneous transaction.
Does anyone have any idea how long I might have to wait to get the serial code? Do they not send them past certain business hours? Do they manually accept PayPal transactions and manually send out the serial codes?
My main question is: How long does it take to receive my serial code after purchasing through PayPal?
Thanks.
I would have expected that the purchase would be processed immediately, once the PayPal transaction was approved. I note you did check your PayPal account to see that the purchase went through, and you checked the email’s junk and spam filters, just in case the email was misdirected. So you did all you needed to do, which is great.
It it not common for there to be kitten -minute delay, but I’m glad this all got sorted out and please extend our welcome to your wife — I think she’ll love Guild Wars 2!

What’s the last entry in your journal BEFORE the skip back?
My suspicion is that at some point you weren’t actually on the same story step as your friend, so you stayed on that step while you helped him/her progress. For example:
You’re on step A. Your friend is on step B. You can help them do steps B,C, and D, and they will be on E, but you’ll still be on A. Your journal won’t display A,B,C, or D, because you didn’t receive credit for completing them as part of your story.
Hopefully that makes sense.
Hello all, I’m on the case still, but want to make a quick statement. If there is any change to ecto salvaging it is not intentional.
I promise you that if we change anything involving ectos, there will be public information on it.
Some may be skeptical if they haven’t interacted with me before, and that’s ok, but as long as I’m working with the economy, information on ecto changes will be public, end of story.
The calendar actually just went up last weekend. A sticky isn’t a bad idea, though it’s getting a bit crowded up there… I’ll think of something!
Thanks for the feedback!
Ok Spiteful Talisman is fixed locally. This should appear in about 2 weeks.
Riffled Turret barrels doesn’t increase the range of Rocket turret by the way. How many times did that one appear in a patch note already as ‘fixed’?
This trait actually works with Rocket turret, however, I just discovered that the rocket it fires while traited is invisible. I checked in a fix which should hopefully appear in about 2 weeks on live.
Thanks for the detailed report,
Jon
The insecure content chrome is detecting is embedded youtube videos. Since the forums use https and youtube embedded videos are http, chrome detects them as insecure and blocks them.
That way I can simply use the event_id to immediately find the details I need, rather than parse through the list to find an integer index, and use that for the rest of my process.
Yeah, I see why you’d want to do this. As you said, if we provide a complete event list it’s a problem to present the data in your proposed format since there are duplicate keys. I think that some people solve this problem by writing a search function, rather than by transforming the data.
For the ‘names’ APIs, we probably should have implemented them the way you said. I think I just expected people to basically load these into a table, rather than query the data directly.

We’ve identified the problem with retaliation and are getting a fix in so that it will function as intended on all the maps. When it is fixed it will be mentioned in the release notes for that build.
To she’d some light, once a change requires text, the minimum turnaround is 4 weeks on translation alone. As for mine vs bomb one was brought to our attention first and it was tight to even get the bomb fix in that quick. Mine is fixed locally now and hoping to arrive in the next hotfix if it passes testing.
Jon
I’ll look at spiteful talisman first thing tomorrow morning. Can’t say much more than that.
Quick update.
We had a fix that appeared to solve the issue in this build but it may only be solving it for new characters. A more comprehensive fix is being worked out on our internal servers and we are working towards getting this live asap.
Hey all, just wanted to let you know I’m still working and I’ll keep you updated as soon as I have something to post.
We have a 3rd party app policy located here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/Policy-3rd-Party-Programs-Multi-Boxing-Macros/first.
This policy was written before we had APIs available, and needs to be updated to make it clear that we encourage app development and usage. We realize that in its current form it can be hard to figure out what is acceptable.
Our hope is that the new policy will make it very clear what is acceptable, so that you don’t have to worry about getting banned by using an app. The new policy is still being written, and we will update you when it’s ready.
It’s our intent to allow API-derived apps like GW2Stuff’s overlay to be used by players. From our perspective, having an overlay is just a different way of presenting content. We are not currently banning players simply for using overlays, and have no plans to do so.
Is Magister Izzmek alive? If he’s dead, the event won’t start.
I vote fix. We have a proposed change that should be coming in about 4 weeks. Wish it could be sooner but we need translation time and testing time.
We are aware. Working on a fix.
I’m confused, how did you have “Cathedral of Silence” as your active story step when the last 3 steps you did all lead up to “Kellach’s Attack”? Did you help someone else do that step, or is it possible you’re mixed up your characters?
In your journal, what does it show for your last 3 story steps? What’s your current objective? What race are you?
I’m writing this in response to a lot of suggestions posted that have a similar theme.
Some examples:
- “The WvW match detail API should return guild names, not just guild IDs.”
- “The event names API should return map IDs”
- “The recipe API should return item names, not just item IDs”
I totally understand the desire to be able to make just one API call and have it return exactly what you want. I’m going to first explain why it’s not always feasible with the current API implementation, and after that talk about some possible solutions to the problem.
While the API servers seem like a single endpoint from an external developer’s perspective, they actually consist of many backend servers that service different parts of the API. Different information is on different servers.

Lets use the WvW / guild name feature request as an example. There is a WvW server, and a guild server. The WvW server holds all the WvW information, which includes references to guilds (guild IDs). The WvW server does not report any information about guilds, their names, emblems, etc. because it is not authoritative for that information — the guild server is.
At the scale of Guild Wars 2, no single server can hold all the information about the game. Instead, the information is distributed amongst many different servers. In fact, there is not just one guild server, there are many guild servers. And likewise there are many WvW servers. It’s very difficult to keep the same information in-sync between all these different servers reliably, so it’s much easier for the servers to hold references to the information, and then ask the authoritative server for details if details are needed.
So if we wanted to show guild names as part of the WvW match results, the WvW API server has to query the guild server for that information. Then we’d have to decide on a retention policy for that information — theoretically guild names can change. Should we send the query each time a WvW API request comes in, or should we try to cache the information on the WvW API server? Either way, it adds a significant amount of complexity to the WvW API server.
That leads to the next problem, which is deciding which information to include. First, there was a request for guild name and guild tag — but there’s also been a request for guild emblems to be included. So should we include those in the WvW match results too? What if somebody doesn’t want the guild emblems, they only want the guild name or guild ID because they already have downloaded information about the guild before? Should they be forced to waste bandwidth and time processing information they already got before?
By the way, objective names and details have the same problem — the WvW API server only knows about objective IDs, not objective names. The objective names are defined in our game localization files. We have another server that parses the localization files, called the Content server. When you ask for objective names, you’re actually querying the Content servers for that data.
Hopefully you can see the pattern here. The point is it’s much simpler (for us) to write API servers to return just the information they know, and for you to connect the information from the different APIs together. The simpler it is for us to write APIs, the more APIs we can create for you.
As I said before, I completely understand the desire to make a single API call and get everything you want. There are some attempts at solutions to this problem. YQL ( http://developer.yahoo.com/yql/ ) is an example. YQL is a SQL-like query language that can join and filter the results of different web APIs together. So you could write something like this in YQL:
“SELECT objective_id, match_id, guild_name FROM gw2_wvw JOIN gw2_guilds ON (gw2_wvw.guild_id = gw2_guilds.guild_id) WHERE gw2_wvw.world_id = 1001”
Facebook offers similar functionality to their data using a similar system called FQL.
I consider these types of interfaces to be a new layer on top of our existing API servers. They’re nice to have, but their only functional advantage is that they make the APIs easier to use and reduce the number of API calls made.
We’re currently focused on creating new APIs, because new APIs will enable new cool applications. Maybe once we have lots of cool APIs, we can spend some time on these nice API wrapper layers.
I hope this was helpful. Thanks for reading!
The answer to this is still pretty much the same. We really want to make sure that these features are polished before they are fully out of beta. As you can see from the patch notes, we got a good chunk of changes in.
With a new build on June 11th. Many of the changes to Southsun Cove, including the upcoming meta event, will remain indefinitely.
Hey Daemonne, welcome to PvP! You’re coming in at an interesting time for us. There’s a lot of events happening in the way of competitive PvP, which you can find on our Facebook Calendar. Among some of the entries on there, you will see Blu’s minigames. These minigames are a lot of fun, and are more casual-friendly (more information here).
If you’re looking to get into PvP, starting with some friends in a Custom Arena, or participating in the minigames is a great way to go!
That is confusing. Good general point and sorry about that.
We’ll work on making this more clear for everyone that $ quotes are USD $’s.

Hi Fafnir – Do you happen to have any security software currently enabled? This is generally the biggest cause of this error message.
Hi there – Could you please provide some more information in regards to the crash? Are you getting any specific error messages? Is this happening when you launch, change maps, WvW, etc.? Additionally, could you please provide your system specs? The more information that you’re able to provide the better and much more quickly we’ll be able to help you out.
Sigils don’t activate if the target is worth 0 experience. So ambient animals, target dummies, etc. won’t work.
Just a quick update, I want to be thorough, so it will be a couple more hours before I have anything to say.
Hi Lushly – I’d like you to first locate and delete your local.dat file which is located in your Documents > Guild Wars 2 folder. Once this is done, reboot your computer and launch Guild Wars 2 again. After seeing the 1 file remaining message, a secondary protocol should kick in to download the file from the backup system. This usually takes about 10 minutes.
If after 15 minutes or so this does not resolve the issue, I would like you to change the language for the launcher (top right corner) to French, English, or German to see if the download completes. Once the download completes, you should be able to change the launcher back to your original language and log in and play again.
Hi Homonavn – Are you getting any particular crash error when you try to patch? While other players may also be experiencing this issue, this doesn’t appear to be heavily widespread as we’ve received very few reports in regards to this particular problem. That being said, I’d like to collect a Game Advisor report so I can look into why you might be experiencing this crash. You can download the Game Advisor application at the link below:
http://us.ncsoft.com/gameadvisor/
Please note that you will be automatically prompted to install Game Advisor upon clicking the link. Once you’ve generated the report, you can attach it to this thread by clicking “More posting & formatting options…”
are you matching the proper mine defuse skill to the appropriate mine? An icon over the mine should match the icon of the defuse skill.
Your current quest step is “Check your mail.”
Hello everyone, I’ll look into this and get back to you.
Nope I still have this problem. Often it shows me as offline on guild list and friend list and when I try to party someone it shows me as offline and the party members can’t see me as on the map and minimap. Also when I invite people to a party and they join the party, on their screens it still shows them the party invite and the option to either accept or reject the invite even after they’ve joined the party. Many times people are not able to enter the instance that I am in(dungeon) either. This is incredibly frustrating and ruining my in-game experience and from what I’ve heard it has been happening to a lot of people. Please fix it.
Thank you for providing these details. Have you submitted a ticket? If so, may I have the 12-digit number for that ticket? I’d like to follow up on a couple of levels, so that information would be very helpful.
One quick short-term solution is: Log out of the game completely and log back in. But as Moeh says, that’s not exactly how things are supposed to work, so we’ll investigate and repair.
