Check your Windows audio settings, if it’s set up as a multispeaker system but you only have 2 speakers, it could be trying to play the audio on speakers you don’t have. (If Windows thinks you have 4 speakers but in reality you have 2, it will be trying to use the 2 phantom speakers for some audio.) And of course, make sure that the Dialog Volume under Audio Options isn’t set too low.

Thanks for the detailed report. We’ve filed a bug on this issue.
This can happen during the process of distributing a new patch of the game. That’s what happened in this case — the world names should be ok now. Also, events should have stabilized. Any events not in the list should be considered ‘inactive’.
This bug is now fixed — events should be correctly displaying the preparation state. You may find it much easier to track the status of some events now.

Working now? 15 chars
one of them was developed in a few hours by one person, and the other was developed by a team for a few months. Comparing the two really isn’t fair.
That being said, Crab Toss isn’t for everyone. Some people enjoy those things and some people don’t. The good thing is that you aren’t forced to play crab toss to get the rewards, so you don’t have to do it if you don’t want to. I personally enjoy it, and get a bit of a kick out of grabbin’ crabs.
Different folks like different things, and that’s okay. We’re trying to build content for everyone, so everyone can be excited about something with our release.
Good feedback would be telling us about the things you didn’t like about it, and the things you did like about it. A nebulous statement of “It sucks” isn’t constructive. If you want to actually see change, you need to give clear feedback so we as developers can talk with each other about things we could change for next time. Whether its an activity, a dungeon, a boss, etc, giving us feedback about why something didn’t sit well with you is far more valuable than just telling us something didn’t sit well with you.
LIVING WORLD
Last Stand at Southsun
Help Inspector Kiel track down Canach, the villain behind the increased animal aggression and the focused attacks on Consortium settlements. Canach’s intent is to destroy the settler contracts (and punish Subdirector NOLL for his vendetta against Canach).
Players must work together to protect the settlements and the innocents within from the crazed horde’s sustained assault, ultimately allowing Inspector Kiel to destroy the records and free the settlers from their unfair commitments without harming any of the island’s residents. This sets the stage for the upcoming Dragon Bash festival to happen without settler unrest spoiling the festivities.
Open World
Note: All this open world content takes place on the Southsun Cove map.
Even if you manage to capture Canach, can you also foil his master plan? Defend the new settlers on Southsun Cove from a massive final onslaught of rampaging wildlife or die trying! And beginning June 4, a hulking monstrosity joins the fray—without your help, it will destroy the settlers and everything they’ve built!

Just thought I’d inform of a New Phishing scam email that’s about That I got this morning. It had the GW2 Logo Looked rather legit however It tried to state due to a payment not going thru that my account was getting Shut down. It also states in this email that you get a 72 hour ban. didn’t make sense but like most of these emails ( I’ve seem plenty from WoW gaming) I didn’t click no links but the link they had when hoovered had .tk at the end.
This email is plenty to put fear not just in your account closing, banned for nothing but Credit card users may wanna be aware also.
I know from reading over forums you guys don’t have a hacks or abuse section to report headers of these such emails but its prolly an Idea to consider it will end up a monster later on.
I will add this one to my sticky thread on the subject, but can you send me the exact email content via PM? Thanks.
I want to make a comment in regards to the chat filter. Ive been doing alot of digging and research on the subject and I just happen to know for a fact that Arena.net and Ncsoft have purposely developed the chat filter system to allow people to foolishly fall victom to their TOS and ban them. Its a way for them to make money and my source comes right from the horses mouth. A family who has partial ownership over arena.net. It can be considered a conpsiracy if you want to call it that but its fact that ncsoft perma bans peoples accounts over repeated offences. The chat filter is the most useless tool available to Gw2 Players since it only works 1 way. Im pretty angry over this fact and have asked for help with several outside well connected anet sources on the subject but responces have been very quiet on this topic. My guess is they want to keep it quiet and dont want people knowing. The fact theres no contract you sign when you manualy remove and unlock the chat filter is evidence enough that anet allows people to use vulger language. If your going to have a filter it needs to work both ways. And removing the filter should acknowledge that you are willfully signing an agreement that you infact wish to view vulger language and also to use it as well. If you remove the chat filter you shouldnt have the right to report vulger language in the first place, reducing the amount of reports for GMs to sort through. Ultimatly what it comes down to is $ money. GMs need tickets for their daily quota, so they go home feed their Kids and family. Have a nice cushy job and earn a descent income. But the fact that ncsoft refuses to acknowledge these details and my sources is proof enough. Its a cycle of corruption that has infested even the lead GMs of ncsoft.
Its sad, for a game that has half naked women that can strip down nearly naked, and weapons and art that reveal the most intimate parts of a woman ncsoft has declared its still just a game for younger teens. This is just insane. If Anet isnt willing to make the filter work both ways then its just showing that the cycle of corruption will continue on and on.
That is ludicrously ridiculous. Absolutely, provably, horribly wrong. You should be ashamed of yourself for entertaining such a notion and for posting it on this forum or in any way alluding to this nonsense.
I don’t know of any company that would act in the reprehensible manner you describe and certainly not a company of ArenaNet’s and NCSOFT’s stature. The $50 here and the $50 there that would be gained from exercising the components of this Tinfoil Hat Theory of the Day would not be not worth a thing compared to the loss of reputation that would occur if we were to act in this manner. Not to mention the bitter taste of unfairness that we — gamers like you — would feel if this was any policy or any process at all or in any way.
You don’t remove the filter, you simply choose not to use it. You do not own the right to determine what others will see, and the filter cannot ever be perfect, hence the actions that our GM Team will be forced to take on those who breach the RoC and the rules of commonly accepted game behavior.
We value every player and every customer. We do not suspend or terminate accounts lightly. We do our darnedest to work with individuals who have been suspended and even terminated, going the extra mile to give a second chance or to work with a person who has made an error in judgment. The suspension system is a model of balance and fairness. It is even set up to give second chances automatically. We do not conspire to ban people unjustly. We never, ever will.
(edited by Gaile Gray.6029)
May I ask why? I have submitted a ticket on this and am unaware of doing ANYTHING to breach the code of conduct. I have read over it multiple times and have only responded in kind to people who attempt to troll me or Gates of Madness.
What warrants this?
No one in the forums can tell you why your account was suspended. The only way to learn the answer to this is to contact Support and discuss the matter with them.

And as for the dev code vs live code: they should test both. It’s of no use now if they test againkittenture code and not the current live code. It shouldn’t be that hard to boot a server with the currently running live code as a snapshot and then run test by test.
Sorry if it wasn’t clear, we do test both, which is part of what takes a while for stuff to get live. =)
But yeah, we do miss stuff sometimes, and we’re constantly working to update that pipeline to make it better, automation is certainly one part of that.
It’s just players have a different definition for “down the road” and “in the future”, just like “rare chance”. Causes a lot of misunderstandings. Also most players aren’t software developers, it can take months from idea to implementation that doesn’t break something like the economy, profession balance, etc.
True enough, we also try to avoid putting timelines on anything due to the volatility that comes with live development, and if we’re ever wrong folks tend to not respond terribly well to it.
One of the fun things about live MMO development: all the steps that things have to go through to make it live. Generally a feature needs to be done 2+ weeks before it can go live, so it can get locked down and separated from everything else in development to be tested in isolation with the live game to verify it doesn’t function different in a server filled with development code vs. what’s going to go live. Before this lock down, the feature needs to be done with core development about 1-2 weeks earlier to allow downstream teams like localization, editing, and audio to have time to complete their work after the content teams are complete so content isn’t changing out from under them. And if any VO is used in the feature, all the recorded text needs to be completed 4+ weeks earlier than that to allow all of our localization VO partners to get all the correct staff in studio to record all the VO to match the english recording after the first batch of VO is recorded.
Most of this year we’ve been having a release once every month, which means if a feature has a lot of issues during testing and we need to make a lot of updates and pukitten back, it could be multiple months until it gets into the next one due to all the lead time required before something ships in game. The amount of steps required to get something live is pretty staggering, I just covered some of the high level steps above but there are a lot more than this.
We’ve actually been re-working this pipeline a bit lately in the background to try and speed it up (thus 2 releases in a row with 2 weeks separating instead of 4) but it still makes it really hard for us to give exact dates. A little peak behind the curtain how development works, there are around 300 folks working at ArenaNet, but a lot of them have nothing to do with building the feature, and instead provide all the support required to get that feature live. It’s why very few live games do frequent updates to their products, but we’re trying to find innovative ways to buck that trend and update more frequently.
Down the road, we’ll also be adding a reward structure to total achievement points, and we’ll be looking at revamping portions of existing UI to help players understand all the different kinds of content they can play and the types of rewards available. Once we have that framework in place, we’ll be able to really expand on the content accessible through the achievements system and provide you with even more new and exciting ways to play the game.
This feature is still in development and will be added to the game, yes. No ETA since it hasn’t been signed off testing wise yet, but it’s absolutely still something you’ll be seeing this year. This is part of an over-all project to update reward systems across the game, you’ve seen some of the stuff already (daily/monthly overhaul), rewards for giant boss chests in the open world, etc. Some arrives next week release (rewards for WvW ranks) and the rest will arrive over the course of 2013.
As a reminder, what we’re working on high level strategy wise can be found here:
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/colin-johanson-on-guild-wars-2-in-the-months-ahead/
We’ll update this blog post in a few months with our status so far and the plans for later in 2013. (edited to clarify we’ll update the blog)

Heya, I only just posted my first ticket as the way the support was laid out it looked like it was only for account issues such as hacked accounts or technical issues such as “I can’t log in”. On the advice from someone on the forum earlier I put in a ticket, but I wasn’t aware this was the way I was supposed to go about it. Number is 130527-000248. I put in 4 bug reports over the last 2 months, but I’m assuming there’s no number for those. I also posted lots here:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Total-Make-over-Kit-Sylvari-Glow-Merged/page/5
Thanks for any help you can provide, I really didn’t think that the support panel was for anything but serious log-in issues.
I am sure you’ll be helped very soon, and I’ll keep my eye out for that. Thanks!
They should be back in the next update. They were removed on accident.
This was the Sylvari glow bug, where everyone who used a hair makeover kit in a specific time frame lost their glow. Most of the people got their glow back after an update, and a few more paid for total makeover kits to fix theirs. I still have no glow, and can’t afford to pay £3.50 to fix a bug. I broke it by using a permanent hair kit in the wrong timeframe, and am loathe to pay money for a total kit to fix what could have been caused by a gem store item in the first place. Thanks.
We’ve been helping players directly with this, in some cases.
If you have presented this information in a ticket, please provide me the 12-digit ticket number and I can take a look at this on Tuesday. I can’t do so today because of the holiday weekend. From what you’ve said here, I feel sure we can help you, if I’m understanding the details properly.
Kim, it sounds as if a group of players acted unkindly, and I am sorry for that. I want to say there are many ways to play the game and I’m sure you (and your daughter) will find the way you like best. Sometimes a group gets very concerned about the makeup of their party, and there are times when they kick a player from their group. It happens to all of us, and I just consider “Well, it’s their loss.”
If they acted inappropriately, Support should hear about it. If they were merely acting selfishly or unkindly — without harassment or offensive chat — then just “move on” and enjoy the game on your terms. There are a lot of nice, helpful players out there!
Ok, I’m just getting concerned that I am being ignored, as the last dev post on this bug stated it had been fixed, and I have not had a fix in 2 months :s
If I am understanding the situation, you reported a bug and it was fixed. You’re wondering why the issue related to your account/character/something wasn’t retroactively fixed when the bug was addressed, is that right?
Usually, when a bug is fixed, there is no retroactive correction of the issues related to that bug. For instance, if a quest was broken, there’s no way to go back and give credit to everyone who finished the quest. These matters are so specific to an individual account, I’d suggest that you update your ticket and ask about this, if you would be so kind.
(edited by Gaile Gray.6029)
I don’t believe they respond individually to bug reports, except maybe to some threads in the Bug Report forum. But, they do appreciate your reports. =)
Correct. We read the Bug Forums and cull the information there on a daily basis. However, we do not have time to respond to each individual report. In many cases, several players will report the same thing, so trying to answer each thread would be very time-consuming and somewhat redundant. I’m sure you’ll agree that dev time is best spent resolving the issues rather than discussing them.
The same is somewhat the same with bugs that are reported via a ticket. Support will forward reports, but they do not generally get into a back-and-forth discussion about the report issue but instead thank the player for the report and make sure it’s routed properly.
Thanks for understanding. And of course please do feel free to submit reports in the future; they are of great help to us!
We think that Warriors need more sustain in sPvP. You’ll see this reflected in upcoming balance changes.
Traits are huge in this, and just like you saw trait reworks recently for Warrior, we’ll be doing more trait changes to help to this end.
It’s Sunday, but I still wanted to jump in here to let you guys know we’re not ignoring you!
Finally an answer
That may be the start of the Warrior “new era” :P
Everyone here hope for some nice improvements in next 2 patches.
And if you need ideas, GW2 forums are full of them
We read the forums a lot more than you know. Karl/Peters and I actually print out threads sometimes and bring them to balance meetings.
We’re not ignoring any of the classes, I’m sorry if people feel that way. We simply don’t have time to personally post in all threads, on all our sub-forums.
I logged in this afternoon to find out that someone’s already logged into my account again. Had to change passwords for the account and the support account, as well as reinstating the authenticator. My scanners detected no malware, viruses, or anything else that may compromise my account information. So what gives? I’m an intelligent adult and I know how complicated I need to make my passwords.
Yes, I’ve already put in another ticket. I’m just annoyed that I’d have to get my account restored again, unless it was only a 1 time thing. I’m already losing interest in this game because of the first hacked attempt. Starting from semi-scratch, after a year’s play, isn’t what I want.
Something is obviously compromised on your system or within your email. (Yes, I know it does not show up, but that seems clear and I assure you there isn’t a compromise within the GW2 systems.)
Please update your ticket and ask for help from our Technical Support Team. They have tools and tips for securing things and they’ll be happy to help you.
The comments from these forum members are accurate. The issue can determine turn-around time, but normally a player is helped in well under 24 hours. Since this post was made last night, and not updated today, I have a feeling this one has already been resolved.
Real fast, it’s Sunday, so I’ll keep this quick:
Yes, Warrior needs more help in PvP, but is already strong in PvE. Due to that you may see some new splits happening between the gametypes as far as balance goes, and you may also see new traits to help Warriors find a way into team comps.
The temporary suspension is your warning. Do it again and your suspended for life.
No no, that’s not accurate.
The first name censor normally is given without a suspension (except in truly heinous cases). The player is required to rename the char but does not (usually) serve a timeout.
Inverted — I’m assuming if you got a suspension you’ve already been blocked in the past for an offensive name and you are continuing to try to use offensive names. When your suspension expires, choose a new name. Do not try to be cute, or clever, or engage in an attempted work-around of the system. Choose wisely.
Does the Launcher not give you any other message other than an error code?
Yes, the launcher gives a message and not simply a number. Something like “…for offensive chat” or “for the use of an offensive name” or “for harassing (or scamming) another player.” And the only place to learn more about your individual situation is through a ticket to support.
Whatever makes you think your suspension came from unreported private chat? We do not block for private chat, unless someone reports it. This is to prevent a hostile person from using whispers to harass someone else, so naturally we’ll take a look in the case of a report. But to throw around wild accusation like this? I want to know precisely why you believe this to be true, and the 12-digit incident number, because if you are innocent of wrongdoing, I’m sure you have already submitted an appeal. Right?
I’m locking the thread until I have this information from you via PM. If we made an error, we will reverse it. But if we did not, then all these pixels are totally unwarranted.
Trash talking comes with EVERY PvP game and anyone that doesn’t like it should either: A.) go play something else, B.) grow a pair, or C.) block and move on. And if ANet is really serious about turning this game into an eSport (lol) they will have to change “teh rules” because the type of player they’re attempting to attract probably kitten-talks their own mom.
Bottom line is maturity goes both ways. People are quick to tell others to “act like an adult” and not taunt others, but forget that they themselves could just not get kitten over words in a godkitten video game.
Read above. You couldn’t be more wrong.
So I received a 3 day ban. My client turned grey and got a message similar to
“Your account has been lock due to misbehavior”The only time i talk via in game is when im talking smack to the enemy team in wvw. I add to my party and tell them they suck at the game. lol it’s what pvp is all about. I can understand a 1 day ban to make the carebears happy. But 3 days?! lol. thats just silly. I got banned because i hurt some lonely low-life’s feelings and he could report me for making him feel even more inadequate rofl.
Its not my fault these people have insecurity issues and try to solve them by reporting every “mean” person on the game rofl.
Why is there even a report option for that?! THEY CHOSE TO JOIN MY PARTY. lol its not like i made them join my party. THEY CHOSE TO GET PICKED ON. honestly, what WvW’er can say that 95% of the time when they get invited to a party, that they don’t get bashed on? lol
So it’s my fault for that persons stupidity in joining my party, getting bashed so bad he cried and reported me. LOL good things ANet takes such good care of the care bears. gotta keep dem gem store purchases up.
On another note: You guys tried to fix the talking cross server in wvw, but you didnt think about not allowing cross server party invites INSIDE WvW? lol. Is it really too hard to disable party invites INSIDE WvW? rofl. But its my fault that someone got his wittle feewings hurt and cried to mommy. rofl
ALSO, I saw someone else post that they received a ban and have no idea why. I figure its because of the excessive trash talking i do. But i also didnt receive an email or notification, so good thing i was online when the ban happened.
Anyways, a word to you softskinned carebears. If you continuously get owned or run from someone, and they invite you to their party, I WOULD NOT JOIN THE PARTY. ROFL. Just a heads up to you spineless pvp’ers that havent a clue to what you’re doing in wvw.
Trash talking is what PvP is all about. And to ban someone because you guys can’t prevent it, its just plain STUPID. So i’ll prolly be heading over to Darkfall where carebears quit after their first death.
I’ll prolly be back to see whats up with this new update. Gotta get dem skins. lolol
But after this, i refuse to buy anymore gems from you guys, i’m not mad, just dissappointed that the carebears got the best of me. lol. see you guys in 3 days.
Noobs.
Yes, it’s your fault. Not the “carebear” who reported you or the person whose “stupidity” prompted a report, or the “spineless” player who unwittingly joined your group. We are gamers — we understand (and tolerate reasonable) trash talking. What we do *not( tolerate is excessive language, hate speech, or crudity beyond that normally understood and accepted by the community at large. And that community includes PvPers of the highest caliber who trash talk from here to Christmas but keep themselves in check enough to not cross the line.
No one is suspended because of a report; no one is suspended because of a dozen reports. Players are suspended for the poor choices that they make. Period.

When we are first building our maps we go completely for aesthetics. Then we slowly pull them back to make the map realistically run on min spec machines. This is how most developers work. Sometimes things get ‘scrapped’, sometimes the props are changed pretty radically in the optimization process. Sometimes that means we get to make things looks better because we can pack more stuff where needed. And sometimes it means we can’t. It’s all part of the joys and frustrations of working in an evolving medium.
Those were all in the game during development, and evolved with time.
Hey guys this issue should now be resolved. You should now be able to pick a server and log in and play!
Hey guys we’re currently looking into this issue. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause but please just hang tight!
Thanks for the feedback. Top three lists like this have always been a really constructive way to get an overview of what players are looking for. We look forward to hearing your thoughts. Thanks again for posting!
No changes have been made to retaliation that I know of. Note that several updates ago PvP/WvW and PvE damage were split, could that be the difference you’re seeing?
There were an excessive number of bots at that location on several servers, so the spawns during the event (only) had their loot reduced. No changes were made to any creature outside the event, including wraiths in other locations. We tried to find the simplest, safest change possible. I hope that answers the question, but I really don’t want to get into a debate about “What is farming?” or “Does farming hurt the economy?” or “Economy? It’s a game, who cares?”
(edited by Jeffrey Vaughn.1793)
Sorry, I didn’t mean to sound like a politician. : )
Specifically, no changes were made to any content files. So no new downloads were needed, the maintenance update was just that.
Since my question wasnt answered and extremely time sensitive to play with my friends on the same home server I want to get this issue cleared with and done with ASAP. So to sadly repeat
I apologize for making new threads but it would be a faster process if you didnt keep it in a locked thread sop I can continue to ask questions.
Now I understand this is frustrating and this is equally frustrating for both parties. As I am unable to get a refund for my gems nor able to go back to my old server unless I pay more gems which will waste the 35 dollars I spent on the gems. Now, I appreciate that your also feeling it. But please bear with me.
Is there any way for all of now without having to wait to be on the same home servers?
You have now posted three or four threads. Please read THIS POST to understand that you are being answered, that the information is available if you will use the Search Engine above, and that we will not continue to tolerate repeated posts about an issue that has been asked and answered, repeatedly.
I point you to the original thread — https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/Changing-Servers-2/first#post2082170 — into which you numerous additional thread have been added. I feel sure you will find all the answers there, or with the use of the Search Engine.
Locked on request of the OP.
I’ve stated this is several other threads now, but the maintenance update and the event change are totally unrelated, they just happened on the same day.
They are now argueing that they had no characters while transferring servers and unable to do so do they have to wait a full week to transfer as well?
Please stop making new threads about this question. You can find ALL the information you need about this with a simple use of the search engine.
Yes, they must wait one week. The standard 7-day “cool down” period applies.
Gaile, I’d like to also address Thedenofsin.
The term “Third Party Software” covers both software and/or components (i.e. hardware). Here’s the copy/pasta of the section this comes from:
“15. THIRD PARTY TECHNOLOGY
You acknowledge that (i) the Game may contain other software or components that are either owned by a third party or in the public domain, and (ii) NCSOFT has no proprietary interest in such software or components (collectively and each, the “Third Party Software”), and as such, cannot grant you a license to use such Third-Party Software.”
Thank you, SP, that’s very helpful of you and provides a different level of response that will assist with understanding this issue.
Since the topic was locked I would like help for my friends to switch servers since they are new players. You said they would need to delete there characters and they are free to change servers?
You can transfer to any server that is not Full free of charge, if you delete all your characters. Be sure to put all non-soulbound items in the bank, as the bank will transfer with you. Best of luck on your new server. =)
This is correct.
As I stated in another thread, despite the suspicious timing, the update did NOT contain any content changes. The changes to the Lyssa Temple event are totally unrelated.
Well I told my friends to do just this but they were unable to because they had tr pay gems. Now they started playing and now im kittened over. I spent 1600-800 gems of real life cash money and now I cant properly enjoy the full experience. Can you please help me?
I’ve already responded. We are not able to replace your gems. There are several means to change servers, and I’m really very sorry that you made an error, but this simply is not something we’re able to give you gems to do again.

Gail; Today I recieved an e-mail from what appears to be Guild Wars 2 support however something does not feel right about it. All the included links refer to “de.support.guildwars2.com.account.verification.loing.entvasss.gulldwars2.pw/.” Yes that is “gulldwars2.” Would you like me to forward it to you with the header information in a seperate text?
Here is the part of the e-mail that set off alarms first: “Once your account is complete certification, we will check your account. Once verified, you will receive in the near future in the game mailed mystery gift. If you do not complete the verification we will limit risk account or close the account” There was no period at the end.
Ken /|\
Of course that’s a fake. Note misspelling. Note horrible grammer. And the process makes no sense. Delete and ignore. Do NOT click links. And no, thanks, I don’t need to see the header information, although if you want to copy (without clicking links) the full body of the email and provide it here, I can add it to my phishing archives. Please do NOT include the links in the copy, if you do paste it here.

Mechanical = non-human interaction. And since we’ve stated that one action per one key use per player, and if it’s not a human that is doing the interacting, that seems cheat-ish to me.
Yes, there was a bug, and I just learned that it was addressed about one hour ago. Can you test and see if things are working properly for you now?
Thanks!
