This is intentional for performance reasons. We’ve been very clear on the limitations of the in-game spectator mode and how it is not a global observer mode. An observer mode that allows thousands of live viewers is much more difficult and complicated technology. What we have will still go a long way in fostering community building, learning, and shoutcasting.
From sPvP team member Steve:
Hey guys,
The way reserved slots work is after a certain point only players on the member list can join. So if you have a 5v5 arena with 4 spectator slots, and no spectators allowed, then once the server population hits 6/10 only members can join. Or if it’s all member slots then only members can join.
Also, owners can always join their own arenas, even if it’s full. That’s a good candidate for a question on our FAQ.
We’re also aware that we have a bug where the server population isn’t showing up correctly right now. The good news is we have a fix in the works and it should be going out soon.
-Steve Bikun
Thanks for the feedback guys, we’ll be watching threads like this as we go to make adjustments/additions to spectator mode!
And you did a great job yesterday Blu!
Braham also revives any dead players after you kill the first of the final bosses and progress to phase 2 ;p
Thanks for the reports guys, we believe you are right, that this is related to the instance owner being gone. We are working on a fix that should be included in a (near) future build.
What is your ticket number?
You were not banned. You were suspended. You did something wrong, it was reported or observed, and you were given a time out.
Solution: Don’t do that sort of thing again.
The NPCs all share the same AI. There’s no AI difference between Rytlock, Rox, or Magg (CoF) aside from the skills that they use. For story mode dungeons we do beef up the NPCs a bit with their skills since it is supposed to be an easier experience meant to tell a story while providing at least a non trivial encounter for a group of 5 players in a PuG. We are always working on our AI to make them better though.
Easier content appeals to a wider audience. When we released GW2, we got similar feedback about our story dungeons that the MF dungeon is getting now. Nearly everyone could do them, it was easy for a PuG, and people really enjoyed them.
Of course when they stepped into explorable that was a different experience, since we built our explorable dungeons to directly challenge a coordinated 5 man group. Harder content has a less broad appeal initially due to its requirement of player knowledge, skills, gear, etc etc, it is just fundamentally harder and more work. Some people like that, some people don’t, and in MMOs players tend to follow “The path of least resistance” so encouraging them to play the more difficult content has to be matched with higher rewards.
There are always lessons to be learned though. Dungeons are by no means perfect, and getting to see what other teams build always strengthens your design in the end. MF has a great end boss and an interesting army, and lessons can be learned from some of the different things they did. I’d love an explorable version of their dungeon as well
It’s a good story mode dungeon. I’ve pugged it once and played with guildies, and I had a good time of it. I’m glad to hear the MF dungeon is getting some love – the folks who worked on it put a lot of effort into it, and there’s some really neat stuff in there for players to enjoy
The ICD is on the caster, however on AoE regen application it applies AoE regen, then does an AoE cleanse, then applies the ICD. Make sense?
Thank you for letting me know. I’m sure this will be resolved soon.
I recently spent between $300 and $400 dollars on gems so I could level one of each profession to 80 and exotic gear them. And I was REALLY enjoying the game. Then today’s update went through and destroyed my UI on my triple monitor Eyefinity setup. Based on one of the dev’s responses, it doesn’t seem like they are going to do anything to fix it either.
So my question is, since you don’t seem to care about your repeat paying customers, how can I get all my money back? Or did ANet just trick me out of a bunch of money and then laugh in my face when I told them they broke something? There is about 50 posts of people affected on the Tech Support forums too.
But for those players with single monitors or Nvidia Surround setups, you won’t be experiencing this problem. It only seems to be happening to AMD Eyefinity users. It worked fine (for the most part) then the Dev’s broke it in this latest update and claim its working the way it’s supposed to. Which translates to, “Oh well, you’re a small minority so we don’t care if you’re upset so we’re not fixing it.”
Pretty much what they did was take all the UI elements (Chat window, Ability Bars, Mini-Map, etc) and squish them all together in the center of the screen so you can’t see what the heck is even going on. Anyway, I digress. I just purchased all these gems within the past couple weeks. So how can I get all my wasted money back since they don’t care if I am unable to play the game now?
Thanks.
I cannot locate the dev’s response, but I’ll see if I can find it. I want to say that I’m not sure why you’re posting in Account Issues when (1) no one here can actually help you (and yet Support can), and (2) you have a technical issue and should post your questions/concerns in the Tech Support forum.
I like how people assume Anet doesn’t care, or won’t do anything. If it’s a problem that just appeared, Anet probably doesn’t know what to do about it yet. Anet does fix bugs and has fixed bugs for many people.
But bugs because the game crashes on “your” machine, or other problems that come with a new patch are new bugs and Anet has to analyze and check into them before they actually can do anything about it.
It’s not like Anet introduced a bug intentionally, so they don’t know where it is or what caused it. You can bet they’ll be working on it, but yeah…sometime bugs take time to track down.
Anyone who’s ever worked in software development will back me up. A hundred coders working on a program make it hard to tell who did what and when.
Sure it sucks, I get that. But saying that they won’t do anything because they haven’t done something less than a day after a bug was reported is just not realistic.
Anet hasn’t spoken a word since the launch, that’s like 8 months and counting. Assuming is hardly a fair word to describe our (the people who crash on win 32 bits) discontent. In the end our fix is buying windows 64 bits? Hah. Good for them if they manage to fix it, but I’m not holding my breath.
There’s only one problem with your response to me. Anet has helped a whole lot of people who crash in that time. We’ve seen posts of it before. Two people like that are in my guild. They had crashes and Anet fixed them. What they didn’t fix was YOUR crash.
Are you working with customer service directly?
Yes, that IS the question. And contacting Support IS the way we can best help address this issue and, if possible and appropriate, fix the problem. (By “appropriate” I mean we can’t offer to give a system problem on your side, naturally. And the use of three monitors seems an edge case, but hey, that’s just me and TS can tell you much more.)

Just do a charge back :-)
That is absolutely the worst possible option. If someone does a charge back, we have no option but to permanently terminate the account. This means that people who did a charge-back in a knee-jerk reaction to a game change, and then later wanted to come back, lost everything.
We help with refunds, and our policies are not harsh. But please never suggest that a charge back is the reputable or respectful way to deal with any company as a first option. Final option for some companies? Perhaps. For us, it’s not necessary and it’s entirely self-defeating.
I know that this change has upset quite a few folk, we obviously want your feedback but I cannot allow a petition to start on the forum.
Please feel free to continue to use the following post for your feedback:

Hello everyone!
If you are currently unable to patch the final file, try restarting the client and allowing it to run for at least 10 minutes. At this point, the backup system should kick in and push the final file through to your system; if you receive the “Connection failure…retrying” message, don’t worry: this is the backup measure, and should download the last file after a few minutes.
If you continue to have trouble downloading the file, please contact support at https://en.support.guildwars2.com/.
Thank you for your patience!

Looking at the script, things looked fine. We’ll have to dig into it more.
Regardless of current functionality, it’s still something we’re looking at down the road as we continue to improve traits for all professions.
Join Random will put you on either the Red team or the Blue team, not spectator. However, there’s an issue where the join team buttons aren’t greying out properly when the teams are full. So I suspect that’s what happened to you. You began the match as a spectator, clicked Join Random, but both teams were full, so the UI just closed, without moving you off the spectator team.
Thanks for the feedback and support! Glad you all enjoy the encounter
With all due respect, balancing content like a story instance is completely different than balancing an enhanced jumping puzzle like Super Adventure Box, so for us it just wasn’t feasible to consider doing an “easy” and “hard” mode in this particular case.
Instead we focused our time and energy into making a really unique, polished and hopefully memorable encounter that enables any group of five to complete in roughly an hour. I understand that there are players who will simply object philosophically to this direction, and wish that all the content we create to be solo-friendly, but our company has always been focused around building an online world that encourages our players to play our game together.
For those of you who have taken the plunge and shut down one of the Molten Facilities, thank you so much for giving it a try and giving us your feedback. Hope to see you on the front lines!
to clarify, you should get the achievement when you receive the dungeon completion UI
I don’t want to make any promises but it should be fine if you do it again.
The boss chest is not affected by which boss is killed last. It’s purely your choice as the players.
Hey Heiltdo – The first thing I would recommend would be to update to SP1. Additionally, , it appears that you do not have a valid installation of Direct X. This could be due to corruption or you may just not have it installed. Either way we should update this.
This is what we are seeing currently from your Game Advisor report that you provided:
================
= Installed DirectX
================
– x86
– x64
d3dxof.dll – 6.1.7600.16385
The first link will provide you with the June 2010 redistributable which will force Windows to update Direct X. I provided this link below:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109 (download and run this first)
Once installed, please use the following link to install all material post June 2010 for Direct X. Again this link is provided below:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35 (download and run this 2nd)
Hope this helps!
Spec mode is working as of this post. Live build fixed it.
A build is coming. PvP/WvW goes down automatically when we are preparing to put out a new build.
We are not planning on adding a new currency to handle Ascended items in WvW.
So we can use badge of honors. Any info when i can buy these items?
ASAP.
Please ask your friend to contact Support and the team will help him. He can read through the Knowledge Base on that link, and you can submit a ticket via the “Ask a Question” tab on that page.

Hey FireBat – Thanks for the update! Let’s start simple; I would like for you to navigate to Documents\Guild Wars 2 and delete the local.dat file. Next, please try the following to repair your Guild Wars 2 installation:
1. Navigate to your Guild Wars 2 installation folder.
2. Right-click on “GW2.exe” and select “Create Shortcut.”
3. Rename this shortcut to “Guild Wars 2 Repair.”
4. Right-click on this shortcut and select “Properties.”
5. Edit the “Target” line to include -repair at the end.
Note: Please make sure -repair is outside of the quotes
Correctly Formatted Example: “C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe” -repair
Incorrectly Formatted Example: “C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe -repair”
6. Once completed, click “Ok” to save your changes.
If you get an error trying to save, your target line may not have the correct format. Please try step 5 again.
7. Right-click “Guild Wars 2 Repair” and select “Run as Administrator.”
Allow the repair to run and once completed, “Right-click” “GW2.exe” or your Guild Wars 2 Shortcut and select “Run as Administrator.”
Once completed, please try starting Guild Wars 2 again.
The AoE limit is due to technical limitations.

Alright moving along – I would like to rule out the possibility that there is another program interfering with the game connection. To do this, we use a Windows command called “MSCONFIG.”
Please note, this command will not uninstall any applications from your computer. All MSCONFIG does is prevent these applications from automatically starting when Windows boots up.
To do this:
1. Press and hold the Windows key and then hit the R key. This should bring up the Run dialog box.
2. Type “MSCONFIG” without the quotes, and click “OK.” This should open the System Configuration Utility.
3. Click on the “Services” tab and check the “Hide All Microsoft Services” check box near the bottom, then click the “Disable All” button. (You MUST click “Hide all Microsoft Services”)
4. Next go to the “Startup” tab and click the “Disable All” button.
5. Once these items are all disabled, click the “OK” button and you will get a prompt to restart your computer. Please restart your computer.
6. Once you return to Windows, please try connecting to the game again.
To reverse these settings, simply run MSCONFIG again and click “Normal Startup” on the first window labeled “General.”
Note: If you need a specific application to run with Windows but still want to use MSCONFIG, just follow the above instructions and on step 4, re-check any application you feel needs to start with Windows. Examples would be wireless connection software, mouse or keyboard applications or even security applications. Please note that security applications can often be a contributing factor to such issues. If you haven’t done so already, please also disable any Anti-virus, Firewall or other security applications for testing purposes. While we do not recommend running your machine without a security application, should disabling the software help resolve your issue we can reinstall it and work to configure the application so it doesn’t cause this issue.

For any of you still experiencing this issue, I would recommend creating a technical support ticket so that we can further investigate this issue. The thread below should detail how to do so:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/How-to-Submit-a-Technical-Support-Ticket-2/first#post3957
Hi Paribo – As others have stated, I’d highly recommend creating a technical support ticket so that we can better assist you one on one if forum posts haven’t helped you resolve this issue in the past.
We genuinely want to get the game working for you if possible and I’d hate to see you resort to a refund request if you really want to play.
Whichever you’re requesting – technical support assistance or request for a refund, a support ticket would be the best way to go. The thread below should give you more info in regards to contacting support:

Blurred Frenzy will still allow points to be captured, though it’s an invuln skill. It’s likely that Blurred Frenzy will change to Evasion in the future (as the skill’s description actually says), instead of invulnerability.
(edited by Karl McLain.5604)
The trait (Scope) actually does work, but it’s just not noticeable (+10% crit chance while standing still, where you have to be standing still when the attack hits) at all and doesn’t update the hero panel. We’d definitely like to make this trait more usable and visual in the future, as it’s pretty bad in its current state.
It’s live now. Have fun playing.
Hey Heiltdo – Since the client crashed during installation the bandwidth may still be used but since the installation was interrupted it is likely you’ll have to start from the beginning though I’m curious as to what could be causing your installer to crash out.
And so, I’d like to collect a Game Advisor report from you. You can download the Game Advisor application at the link below:
http://us.ncsoft.com/gameadvisor/
Please note that you will be automatically prompted to install Game Advisor upon clicking the link. Once you’ve generated the report, you can attach it to this thread by clicking “More posting & formatting options…”
Thanks for the heads-up.
Could you please provide information on the status of these NPCs in the following areas:
Are the markers (collector icon that looks like a bowl, located on the map/above the NPC’s head) just missing or are the NPCs missing?
Are some NPCs (whether marked or not) there, and others missing, or are they all gone?
What World are you on?

Hey there thanks for the Game Advisor report! I’m concerned about the space left on your hard drive. It looks like you’ve only got about 10 GB left which could be creating some issues installing. While the latest update doesn’t exceed this, it may be too little space available for the update to successfully install.
The first thing I would recommend doing would be to free up some space on your hard drive and to try again.
Hi Heiltdo – The Guild Wars 2 download application will resume file downloads. However, there seems to be a bit of confusion as to how it does that. When the download is stopped for any reason, you need to close and restart the launcher. When you do this, the application will scan the already downloaded files to make sure they are intact. Once the files are scanned, the download continues. The confusion comes from how the “scan” appears in the launcher. When this process is taking place it will look like it is downloading the files again, complete with “download speeds.” However, if you notice the download speed, it should be much faster than your Internet connection. This is because the launcher isn’t actually downloading the files from the Internet but is instead, scanning the files inside the GW2.dat file. Once the scan completes, the download resumes and your actual bandwidth is used. Please note that in order for the launcher to begin the update where it left off, you must exit out of the launcher properly. If the launcher was closed due to a power outage or drop in internet service, it will not save the progress and will start again from the beginning.

Hey there FireBat – I would like to make sure there are no other programs conflicting with your game by using a Windows command called MSCONFIG.
Please note, this command will not uninstall any applications from your computer. All MSCONFIG does is prevent these applications from automatically starting when Windows boots up. If you have any security software, such as anti-virus or firewall applications, you’ll have to manually disable/uninstall those. While we do not recommend running your machine without a security application, should disabling the software help resolve your issue we can reinstall it and work to configure the application so it doesn’t cause this issue.
1. Click the bottom left of the screen to bring up the Start menu
2. Type MSCONFIG and hit the Enter key. This should open the System Configuration Utility.
3. Click on the Services tab and check the Hide All Microsoft Services checkbox near the bottom then click the Disable All button.
4. Next go to the Startup tab and click the link to go to Task Manager and disable all items.
5. Once these items are all disabled, click the OK button and you will get a prompt to restart your computer. Please restart your computer.
6. Once you return to Windows, please try connecting to the game again.
To reverse these settings, simply run MSCONFIG again and click Normal Startup on the first window labeled General.
Note: If you need a specific application to run with Windows but still want to use MSCONFIG, just follow the above instructions and on step 4, re-check any application you feel needs to start with Windows. Examples would be wireless connection software or mouse/keyboard applications.
NOTE: For anyone else wanting to try these steps, these are for Windows 8 specifically.
Hi baram – There’s a few things that could be causing this. First, I noticed that you do not have Windows updated to Service Pack 1. The latest revision of drivers from AMD.com now require Microsoft Service Pack 1 to be installed on your computer and it appears your PC does not have this installed. You can review those new requirements here: http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/AMDCatalystSoftwareSuiteVersion123ReleaseNotes.aspx
Specifically: (From AMD.com)
Notes.
When installing the AMD Catalyst driver for Windows operating system, the user must be logged on as Administrator or have Administrator rights to complete the installation of the AMD Catalyst driver.
The Catalyst driver requires Windows 7 Service Pack 1 to be installed.
In order to install this update, please visit www.windowsupdate.com and select all updates labeled “Important” or “Critical.” While not required, you may also want to review any updates under the label “Hardware.” Once installed, you may also need to reinstall your AMD drivers as they were installed without this update being present.
Let me know if this helps. If not we can move on to the next step as there are multiple resolutions for this particular issue.
Refer to my response here:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Eyefinity/first#post1931540
If the UI is on the wrong screen, make sure your center screen is setup as your primary display. I believe this is set in the Windows resolution settings or the Eyefinity setup wizard.
Regarding the switch to “cram” the UI on the center screen:
This is how the UI has always functioned on Nvidia Surround. We never had support for AMD graphics until now, so now they both function the same, using the same code.
If there are issues with the current functionality like the UI not scaling correctly at different sizes, we’ll look into it.
