A lot of times, people resell, give away, pass along, or trade their accounts. This creates issues with establishing who is the owner, and of course it’s a breach of the User Agreement as well. We are very, very interested in getting the real account owner back on his or her account. It’s very rare for this to happen, but it does happen, and sometimes for reasons that are not clear to the people involved.
From reading a bunch of tickets about the account, it was created in one country, played from another very far away, and you’re writing from a third. The names associated with the account don’t match, and there are other things that just don’t look right about this, which might be explained by the fact that you were given a used account (which is disallowed by the User Agreement.) When that account went into disputed ownership it was closed in 2007. Linking GW to GW2 was not at all related to the account being closed. It was closed six years ago.
We have unlinked the GW account from your GW2 account. If you purchase a new GW account you can acquire HoM rewards that will be available in GW2. (But I caution you to purchase only a new account, not used, given, traded, or resold.)

Hi Frostedblaze – It looks like you have quite a bit of packet loss en route to our game servers. Because of this, I’d recommend getting into contact with your ISP to see if they can help you out. Aside from this, you can try a proxy service to see if this improves your connection at all. Keep in mind though that the use of proxies are not supported, though they’re certainly allowed for player use.
Lastly, I might also suggest Msconfig to cut down on some of your background apps. If anything this should improve performance for you at least a little.

Hi Dahakaxx – Generally system reboots are hardware related. I would check to make sure your PSU is functioning properly, make sure to run a memory test, and watch your temps. If you’ve ruled all of this out, the more information that you’re able to provide in regards to this issue (error messages, exact behavior of the reboot, etc.) the better and more quickly we’ll be able to help you out.

Did you receive the miniature in your mail? If not, try cleaning out your inbox. If you did receive it, you might have done “Deposit All Collectibles” at some point, which will send minpets to the collectibles tab in your bank unless you keep them in an invisible bag.

Look under Options and see if you have Fast Cast Ground Targeting turned on, if you do it will try to fire at your mouse cursor, which might not be at a valid location. Try turning it off.

We’re investigating this, but it’s proving to be very difficult to reproduce. (As noted in this thread, the bug comes and goes.) In order to hone in on the cause of the issue, we would like to know if players who have lost the commander tag can still make squads and use the commander tools?

There will indeed be a new asura gate linking Lion’s Arch to the new resort on Southsun Cove.
I agree that it seems possible to travel to Southsun from other areas when you’re looking at the map, but we’ve never had support for travel to other zones by swimming across the sea. In the context of the game world, I believe there are some pretty nasty things out in the deep water that would make it difficult to swim that far.
Not to sound too negative (or disrespectful), but all I get from that last sentence is that there might be some NPC changes and possibly monster changes/spawns. We know the crab tossing game is going to be temporary, which means probably any other stuff like it (such as the end dungeon of F&F) will also be temporary. I’m still really disappointed by how F&F was handled, so much so that I can’t really even look forward to any new content, since nothing (worthwhile, at least to me) seems to be permanent.

Nah, it’s cool. No disrespect for stating your opinion about things. I don’t want to spoil things, but I have been working near exclusively on the content that is going to be a more permanent fixture of the island. It is significantly more than NPCs and some spawns. When a precedent has been established, it’s okay to be skeptical/doubtful, and it’s okay to voice those things. I do hope you’ll enjoy the permanent content I’ve been working on, and it changes your opinion

The Southsun Shore stuff will not be like the previous Flame and Frost stuff in regards to how time-spanning it was. We’re a separate team than that one, and we have been working on this content while you all were playing F&F content.
Our story will last a month and then be over with, and as a result is more condensed. We’ve been listening to the feedback on F&F, and tried our hardest to adjust where possible. So our temporary content will last just the month, but we are making some permanent changes to the island that will persist after the living story bit is over.
Correction: The original given date for the end of the Flame and Frost epilogue was incorrect. The epilogue will actually conclude on Tuesday May 14 with the release of the Secret of Southsun update.
Ok we found a good repro case. It has to do with how death shroud and downed used to interact. I will get someone on it today and try and get a fix to you all asap.
This video is actually great. Thank you. I see that you have 1/3rd the health. This is not happening to my necromancer on live nor am I seeing it on test. Is this only happening when downleveled?

WvW Match resets are not the same thing as new builds. We’ll have some updates to arrow carts to share with you when the next build comes through.

You can still get secret contact until the southsun patch if you have already picked up your crypto-translator.
The victory phase has begun and will continue until the southsun cove patch. Be sure to interact with a victory bonfire in hoelbrak, the black citadel or lions arch to complete “A Rallying Flame”.
As mentioned in the guide it is mostly conversations, though if you’re curious, you should check out Cragstead and the hatchery. Also the Bonfire gives you a pretty good buff.
We recently added some randomness to the start locations, so that if a party enters at once, they aren’t stacked up on top of each other. I’ll double check that instance, one edge of the area it can spawn you in is probably too close to the prop.

Because we have talked before.. I know you loved that chess analogy. Gw2 has hardly changed so i would say even then and now the same applies.
You have the pieces and they all work great but your board has holes in it. Not to mention you seem to want to tear it in half. Then add some fuel and set it on fire.
My point I was trying to clarify was that a tactical maneuver (strategic withdraw) is very helpful and useful tool against any situation in which you are not in the state of winning. I wasn’t making a comment on the thieves balance nor am I trying to get into a debate on the subject now but merely trying to teach and explain an extremely useful tactic when playing WvW.
and I would have gone for a Go analogy there :P

A bit of background on why a book and not just new slash commands.
Basically Eivene guessed most of it.
1) visual controls are just better than selling a bunch of slash commands with no tangible way to learn them and being limited by typing speed and accuracy.
2) We added the invite functionality.
3) It’s extendable … If it’s popular and we add more dances, more books don’t require a lot of command memorization.
Hopefully that clears some things up.

Vets at tower: Looks like we changed how the defend event is trigger, it now only triggers on attacking the door or walls for keeps and towers, and any guard for all camps. Sorry for the confusion clearly I’ve been doing it wrong sense that was changed.
Thieves: The main thing I wanted to get across with thieves was not meant to be a commentary on balance but just on how you spend your time. There are many builds set up to be defensive and with good evasion and positioning you can run a group around in circles no matter what profession you are. If you let 1-2 people run your group around in circles and get a lucky kill here or there your letting the enemy tie you up when you could move on to another objective.

Update: the skills and balance team are going to take a crack at this and other sigil/rune bugs, so they can decide on a case by case basis whether the tooltip or the effect needs to be updated. (And we’re working on a system that will base the tooltip on the mechanical effects, so we don’t have to make sure they match up by hand.) Thanks all!
As Colin mentioned in another thread, we’re investigating a bug that’s causing scaled up creatures to deal more damage than intended. (Originally they were capped to scale for 10 players, we’ve been boosting the scale caps on some events to handle many more players, but this is boosting their damage way too much.) I don’t have an ETA for that. I’m also looking at Jonez in particular, right now he’s using default creature stats, so I’d like to make him a lot tougher. Again, I don’t have an ETA yet, sorry!

I’ve passed this on to our localization team for a future update. (Sorry, I don’t have an ETA on when this will get fixed.) It might seem like a 5s fix, but it’s really not, since the fix has to be made in all language files. Fortunately it’s a number change, so no additional translations are needed.

The combat log certainly needs some upgrades. It’s something we’ve already looked into. While such an upgrade isn’t technically difficult, it is time consuming. Upgrading the combat log with more information means we uncover lots of things that may not have been explained anywhere, and need to be updated with new descriptions.

Hi Reiizm – I remember you posting a few days ago in regards to this issue. I take it a clean installation of your video card drivers drivers didn’t resolve the issue for you. Would you mind posting a Game Advisor report to the thread so we can take a look? If you don’t feel comfortable posting this information, I’d recommend creating a technical support ticket so we can better assist you one on one.
If you reply back with your ticket number I can take a look at your issue personally and make sure this gets looked into asap.

Hi Vinz – Thanks for the Game Advisor report!
So, a couple of things. I noticed this in your list of running processes:
*SearchProtect, C:\Users\Vinz\AppData\Roaming\SearchProtect\bin\cltmng.exe
To me, this screams bad news bears, but it could be nothing. Though the fact that it’s running from your AppData folder raises some cause for concern. I see that you have AVG and I’d make sure to run a thorough search and clean out your system in case this is malware or spyware.
Secondly, it’s also possible that AVG could be interfering with the game connection. As a temporary troubleshooting step I’d recommend disabling it or configuring the application to allow Guild Wars 2.
Lastly, and this is unrelated to the error but seemed worth mentioning, I would update your Windows to Service Pack 1, and get the latest video card drivers for your system as they’re about a year old. If anything, this should at least improve performance for you in game once you’re able to get back in.
