I always recommend to people when getting into investing of any kind to define your outs before you invest. Pick numbers for profit and loss and time early and stick to them.
After reading through this thread, I believe there may be a misunderstanding of icons.
The thumbs up icon is not an indicator that you have voted on a post. It is an indicator of popularity (with star, without star or no thumbs up) based on votes from all users either across the forum or within a thread (with a red underline or not)
The only indicator that you have voted for a post is that the +1 button turns gray.

Originally I was calling it the Karka Bowl, because I first conceived the game’s core concept to be about dodging rolling karka. In fact, I further thought that points would only be awarded by causing other players to meet their untimely demise by tossing the crab to them at the just right (wrong) moment. In that regard Crab Toss makes a lot of sense. But a few experiments and iterations later, it evolved into the keep-away type game it is today with a few core elements. But Crab Toss is still very appropriate, considering the game begins with the referee tossing the crab into the arena.
Major thanks goes out to Peter Fries and Scott McGough for coming up with the term Crab Toss as well the most excellent title in game: Crabgrabber, which I will wear forever.
Hi ronpierce – I’d like you to first locate and delete your local.dat file which is located in your Documents > Guild Wars 2 folder. Once this is done, reboot your computer and launch Guild Wars 2 again. After seeing the 1 file remaining message, a secondary protocol should kick in to download the file from the backup system, usually takes about 10 minutes.
If after 15 minutes or so and the download doesn’t kick in, I’d try the workaround suggested by other players which would be to change the language for the launcher (at the top right corner) and see if the download completes. You can change it back to your original language once it does and you should be able to log in and play again.

Hey guys, thanks for the question. There are a few issues and updates we want to address before we make Custom Arenas available to everyone. At this time there is no announced date for the end of the beta period. We are eager to get these out to you but we want to make sure known issues are addressed first.

I’m sure we’ll evaluate any additional bugs with multi monitor play and get those addressed in a future update. Until then, addressing the “skill lag” issues are my number 1 priority.

Phew — this was a really complicated one, but we’ve identified the issue and this account will very soon be reinstated with the GW and GW2 accounts properly linked. I’m sorry for all the confusion, and appreciate your patience while we investigated!
I haven’t been able to replicate this issue, so I need more specific info. What was your current objective? Did you find the sheath by picking up a relic, or did you pick up enough that it marked the relic for you? (If you pick up enough relics without finding the sheath, it will mark the location for you.) Which objectives (if any) were NOT marked as complete at the end? Just the final step? Or were they all marked as complete, but the story step didn’t complete?

I think it’s the case that there will always be clipping in one way or another When we pull it far enough off the back for it not to clip on heavy armors, people in light/medium armor have a large gap between their back and the item. We try to find the happy medium where we can appease as many as we can, but it’s not going to be perfect for everyone.
That being said, we are looking into these issues and trying to develop better systems for the back-slot items that will result in less clipping and less gaps. Certain armors will always be problematic, but we’re always looking into solutions for things like these

D’oh! You caught me there. Let me spruce it up some. In the coming weeks, nay months, you’ll see many changes to WvW. We should have something to announce regarding the matchmaking in the coming weeks. If you aren’t happy with those changes, I’ll be more surprised than the Imperial Japanese Army was by Marshal Georgy Zhukov at the battle of Nomonhan. I think that fits the criteria. Sort of.
I don’t know if we plan on changing the level of the omelette, but I do think that the achievement will stick around, so as soon as you do reach that level and munch on Owain’s omelette, you should be able to get it.
I can’t guarantee that Owain will always be selling omelettes in the future, but she does seem quite passionate about it, so I imagine they’ll be available for a while.

There were no changes to make any creatures harder than they previously were in the patch on Tuesday, and the damage on Veterans and Champions in the events using the new event scaling should be significantly closer to what was intended.
We’re still looking at the difficulty of these events, and may make more changes in the future. If anybody has played any of the events using the new scaling since the patch, feedback is definitely welcome.
Glad to see the Faren love. Sorry he’s not everybody’s cup of tea, but he’s one of our favorites to write (and a fave of the voice actor Yuri Lowenthal, who supplies Faren’s dulcet tones).
Lady Kasmeer is a brand new character who is making her extended cameo debut in the Secret of Southsun. We will see more of her in future releases (or, I should say, we’ll spend more time with her but see less of her, as she won’t always be wearing her beach gear).

I had the same issue a week ago and after chucking a hissy fit , I found that if I rest my account , (you need the serial code or game code that came with your product ) it let me change my password and then I was able to remove the authenticor without the need for the two authenticator codes. I’ll find the link

I am unclear how you think an update — a “patch” — would take away items. I’ll certainly ask about this, but I just can’t see how that would be possible. Whenever we have an issue, like the issue with the karka chests, we have to code the changes to give the missing items to people. So looking at that, we’d have to code to take away items, and that just doesn’t seem possible to me.
I’m not a dev, I’ll be the first to admit it.
And I am sorry that this happened. But while I cannot say why it happened, I don’t think it’s related to a build. What are your ticket numbers? It may be helpful for me to see the history on the ticket.
The forums were offline during the outage. But it appears you could load the website, right? (Not a cached form, but the real deal?) Back in the day, we have a “Network Updates” page, and that was used as you described. I’ll ask the Web Team if they think that may be something we want for the future. It’s up to them, but I understand the request and am sure they’ll be happy to listen to the suggestion.
We try to keep our players informed via a variety of means available to use. The forums were down when the game was down, so that option was not available, but with SmartAssists and an announcement on the support page, and with social media messaging (you do not need an account to view those) we did our best to keep everyone informed.
We have not released the patch yet, so as you can see, the bonfires are not in the game.
As I said in this post the return of the bonfires has been delayed a bit.

Yes. Please be sure you remove the items you wish to keep so they are in the bank and not on the character itself, because we cannot replace items that you delete in error through this process.
When you log in, you will be prompted to change your character name. if this is your first offense, you can do so immediately. And yes, a character with a name related to defecation is offensive.

Comparing a game that is nearly 10 years old with a game that is not even 10 months old is sorta unfair.
(But I can tell you that we had full-account restorations before some much-older games, so that’s cool!)
The point is, for any game, tools are developed and expanded over time, and we acquire the ability to provide more help to players as new tools are created. We also add features that are designed to prevent user errors such as yours. For instance, in the early days of Guild Wars, you could delete a character with just one button. Noting that players were doing so in error, we added a confirmation system, and ultimately required the player to type out the full name and confirm, so a sort of double-confirmation system.
As the game matures, more tools will become available for CS, and more in-game systems will be added. I’m sorry that your user-error situation cannot be addressed at the present time, but I believe we will be able to offer greater levels of help for instances such as these in the future.
Have there been any issues since the 5-14 update?
She has been downtuned since launch, so it’s possible the Wiki is just out of date. She’s currently at L10, and I know that the duration of her poison attack was reduced significantly several updates ago.

False positives for botting are extremely rare, but they do happen once in a blue moon. Since you’ve submitted a ticket, that’s the way to go. This obviously is not a major problem or we would have had hundreds or thousands of tickets — we do not — and dozens upon dozens of forum posts — which we also do not.
Please await assistance from the team. If you need help after three days — and tickets are generally answered within hours — please use the thread above to let me know.
Delete all characters move to any server you like that isn’t full for free. Problem solved. Even put nice items and money you want into your bank for an added bonus of keeping them.
Perhaps reading the other 400 posts of he same thing here might have got you playing even faster!

so if i delete all characters i can change servers for Free? i wasted 50 gold then ._. LOL
I don’t think you wasted your gold, because you were able to keep all your characters intact. There’s a tradeoff and it’s especially helpful for new players, who don’t have a lot to lose. But deleting characters with achievements and special soulbound items isn’t worth saving the gold, in my opinion, so continuing players are ahead to use gems, which as pointed out above can be earned in the game.
