It is, essentially, another WvW map. You can still fight each other, it will behave exactly like the JP used to, except you will be removed from EB so someone who wants to come in to fight for objectives will not be kept from playing by someone running the JP.

I take it this means you will be removing Jumping Puzzles from WvW aswell… you know, people jumping around not doing WvW… Just to “earn” badges without actually having to fight or contribute. Taking up slots.

Now that would have a far greater impact of removing deadweigth players from WvW than removing crafting stations, while being a far smaller bother to your actual WvW community.

I wonder if we can even do that… :P The EB JP is coming out for the May 14th release.

Get More Out of WvW
We’re improving the way we award World XP to World vs. World players! Now you’ll gain rewards for a much wider range of activities in the Mists – everything from destroying siege weapons, repairing walls, escort missions, and more.

The End of Culling
We wiped out culling in World vs. World, and now we’re doing the same in the Living World. By removing the limit on the number of characters you can see, we’re increasing the epic feel of exploring through a fully-populated world.

Quick follow up note, sorry about this one folks. Both of the release notes above are still in testing and are NOT including in the May 14th release. Consider this a spoiler for things that are coming soon as they are ready and signed off on.

However, one release highlight wasn’t listed that should be, so bonus info for you to make up for the wrong notes going out → In WvW the jumping puzzle in Eternal Battlegrounds will be split out into its own map, so those folks who wish to play there aren’t counting against the population cap for EB. This means more people can play in the EB jumping puzzle, and more people can play in EB as well with the populations separated.

We’re working out the kinks of doing a more frequent update, sorry again about the confusion!

Hey folks,

It seems we inadvertently outed (some of) our plans for WvW with the above linked page. While we are looking to extend World XP changes for WvW in a later content patch, it still needs some tweaking and therefore isn’t ready to be introduced in this one.

We can however officially let you know we are moving the jumping puzzle for EB into it’s own map, as this has been a much requested feature for our beloved siege fairing community.

You don’t like too bad. This is wvw its a form of pvp not some place for all the carebear pve players to hang out

Make a well thought out post on the WvW forums, first two replies shows you exactly why most casual PvE players don’t want to enter WvW.

I think my favorite part of this whole thread , (Which I’d intended to ignore, but it just got so many comments…) is that I actually do actively participate in World vs World. I was just posting on behalf of people who would prefer not to, and also prefer not to post on the forums.

In any case, thank you for the support.

Regardless of the tenor of this thread, we are trying to make this better for both PvE and WvW focused players. Hopefully the changes we have incoming will make a difference.

Outfitter? You mean the NPCs selling PVP weapons/armor? If so, did you check just south of the home-point spawn location on Red BL – they were the last time I saw them (this was on Sanctum of Rall’s borderlands a few weeks ago).

I do wish banks were more accessible in WvW, but those are one of the few useful perks from upgrading personnel at a Keep. That said, IIRC, the banks were removed because people were queuing up for WvW just to access their bank, causing longer queue times.

That’s also what was the impetus for removing the crafting stations. The more time people spend in the maps not playing WvW, the longer the queues are.

Each map has an allocation per server. So, using non-real numbers, EB can have 30 total players on it, 10 per server. If server A has ten people, they will queue regardless of how many Servers B and C have.

For some reason, one of the guards isn’t visible. At the platform at the bottom of the stairs, though, where he should be, you can still “F Knock Out” the guard. There’s no visible marker for it, but if you’re in the right spot you’ll be able to complete that step and progress normally.

What’s your current story step? If it’s meeting the strike team, note that the NPC you need to talk to is down in the hold of the ship, so his story marker is obscured a bit by the ship itself. Speaking to him and selecting the dialogue marked by the story star will direct you to go up on the deck, where a cutscene will play out.

Let me address your concern there. It is not the fact that a server dominates so handily, it is the fact it happens for weeks on end, and the Glicko system you use does not allow for shifts in population like we are seeing happen in T1 fast enough. A simple 1up 1 down system would, I believe suit everyone, in any tier, in any region, and definately avoid any stale matchups as servers would be more mobile.

Without going into specifics as we are still testing out some of the changes, we are looking to address the problems with our implementation of Glicko, especially the fact that matchups are not varying enough to provide accurate ranking data.

Is there any plan for any temporary solution while you are working on this? If not is there any ETA or an approximation of when we will see any changes? Our servers are still losing players as we speak, and we of course would like to bring back some good news to give people hope again.

The things we are working in should be going live in the next few weeks, if all goes well on the testing front. Thus temporary solutions are not worth the time they would take. I can’t give a definite timeline, because things can change, but hopefully you will see changes by the end of the month.

So, the key problem here is that the thing that people most want is for other people to see their titles. If other people don’t want to see them, at least for gameplay reasons, it’s not really fair to force them to. I agree that it would be better with an option flag but we just didn’t have the time to implement that at the moment. It’s very likely we’ll get one in when we have the time, but for now we felt it was most appropriate to remove them.

We are trying to do some things to make the matchups move around more and should have more detailed information in the near future. However, one thing to remember is that if there is one server that is defeating everyone so handily, changing the matchup is just going to let that server beat up on different people. Which is probably better, so long as those people don’t get stuck there too. Regardless, we know this is a problem and we are working on it.

Some fun ideas in here, we’re also actively discussing ways on how we’d best like to alleviate having to make players choose between having better stats, or using magic find. It’s not a choice that’s great for game play and there isn’t really anything that fun about it, even more so when group composition is taken into account. Ideally we’d also like to keep the ability to slowly build your magic find over time, but doing this at the cost of using better stats isn’t the right way to do that.

No ETA on any changes here, just want to point out we agree there is an issue here that goes against what we want Gw2 to be, and is something we want to address.

  • Fixed an issue where certain parts of the Molten Facility dungeon would not trigger after the dungeon’s instance creator logged out or left the map.
  • After an entire party has been defeated, party members should no longer be forced back into the boss arena until entering of their own free will.
  • Fixed the transformation sequence visuals for the final bosses of the Molten Facility dungeon.

We ended up making a “molten” species for these enemies, so that they can share loot drops and other behind the scenes stuff.

Unfortunately, this means they are technically not part of the flame legion or dredge family, and your potions will not help you.

I’d like to shed some light on our thinking with this AC change as well as tell you all what we are doing right now to balance it.

Firstly, when siege weapons were originally created, they had the intent of being really good at some things and not so good at others. The arrow cart is intended to be the anti-personal siege weapon. It is intended that arrow carts are all about controlling an area through damage. If you remain in the area that is being hit by the arrow cart, you will die. You can however, move out of the space and/or find a new way to attack the intended target. That being said, they are not intended to be so good against other siege weapons and we are in the process of addressing that right now. We are also addressing their range when upgraded to be more in line with the range of ballistas.

Secondly, this change is going to require new tactics and those tactics include things like using ballista and catapults to destroy arrow carts. With that in mind, we’ve been looking more closely at the numbers of all the siege weapons and there are definitely some changes that need to be made to bring them in line with their intent. We are going to take a holistic pass at siege weapons in the coming months and drop a rebalance of all of them to get them to more closely align with what they should be doing.

Finally, the feedback you all provide is a very useful part of this whole process. WvW is a living, breathing game type and any changes we make have numerous consequences that don’t become fully visible until everyone starts interacting with them and devising new strategies. Our goal is to provide a complex combat space that rewards skill, tactics, and ingenuity and while we haven’t fully achieved that goal yet, I like to think we are getting there.

Indeed, it was a bug that the timer didn’t work all the time and we’ve addressed that. We are going to evaluate these times now that the timer does in fact work and it is very possible that we will make some changes to them. That being said, the main reason for the timer is the fact that we have to have the siege cap because of technical reasons and this helps to force siege to recycle if it isn’t being used.

The titles display for your selected target and your party members. Otherwise they are not displayed in WvW. We felt it would be a cleaner experience that way. In terms of a checkbox, we’ll look into that. It was much simpler to remove them than to provide more detailed options and we felt it was worth it to do so.

The 4 hits do not always happen if the IZerker is far away from the target it might only get 1 strike in because the animation generates 4 attacks. Saying it only hit a static target 3 times doesn’t really tell the whole story. Hundred blades or whirrlwind on great sword are similar. Each attack has a size and facing and timing and those things determine if a hit occurs.

Thanks for the update Jon, but I would urge you to check up on the iZerker again as multiple people have confirmed that something went wrong with it after the 26th of february patch.

So I would really appreciate it if you could check it out again because there’s definitely something not working as intended. And even if this behaviour was intentional (like with the Ranger SB ‘animation fix’) we would also appreciate it if you just come out and tell us instead of making stuff up as your customers are going to find out anyway (like with the Ranger SB ‘animation fix’).

As far as we know something did go wrong. We can’t reliably get it to display all of he damage floaters, but we have tried to test if the damage is lower or it just doesn’t hit and we have never seen that error I our debug setup which shows attack areas. I may try and make a bad pic tomorrow to show what I mean.

Colin will there ever be a part of Fractals that allow us to play a recap of old content?
Stuff like that would be a win-win for those who want Fractals and others who long to play older stuff as well.

When I said we could update or change an existing dungeon, updating fractals in the future is one of the options that’s fully possible yes. And of course since fractals lets us experience moments trapped in time….it’s entirely possible some content may make its way there as part of a living world update.

We’re trying something very unique and different with Gw2, and a lot of it plays back on the original ideas and concepts we had for the game all these years we’re trying to build towards and accomplish. It’s important to us to continue to try new things, looking at ways of evolving and innovating what a live game can be. In many cases, we’re learning right along with you guys how all of this is going to work for a live game, and constantly adjusting as we see the outcomes and find ways to innovate on what a true online world experience can be.

Living World is above all, the attempt to really give the sense the world is constantly changing and evolving. That there is events and content that change the world in the short term (like our current events) and events that can occur or change for the long term, which is what we’re slowly building towards in the future with Living World content.

Living world absolutely does not mean nothing but content that comes in and leaves again a few weeks later, and though so far that’s primarily what you’ve seen, it’s not all we will do in the future. The intent is living world provides us with a story and narrative experience, sort of like your favorite TV show, to constantly update and change the world and provide unique and exciting rewards on a regular basis.

We might have events that occur and came back again with a few modifications in the future. We may have events that occur and then find new homes permanently down the road. We may have bosses from a storyline that continue on forever as guild bounty hunts when a story completes. Living world also allows us the opportunity to upgrade and make parts of our existing game better permanently, a living world narrative could allow us to rebuild and change an existing zone or dungeon, or could destroy one entirely.

Our goal is to get to a point where on a regular basis, the world around you is not only changing in the short term through our normal event system, it’s changing and evolving permanently through our living world releases as well. What you’ve seen so far is primarily some tests and warmup stuff while we in the background organize the company to support this exciting future for our game, the future for living world is filled with endless possibilities.

Hi there Kyllaa – Sorry it’s taken me so long to reply to your thread. I was able to reproduce a crash on my own system following the steps that you outlined. While I didn’t experience a full system crash I did experience a client crash and so we’re going to be investigating this issue a little further. I appreciate you bringing this issue to our attention and in such detail!

The item itself actually says Able to mine all metals, so it is quite unlikely that they would be unable to mine any possible higher tier.

I see, I’d still like a dev comment on this just to ensure.

On a second thought though, I think it’s unlikely they’ll release new node tiers because then they’d have to add new armor/weapon/etc tiers into the game and they promissed ascended would be the last of them.

You won’t get a dev response confirming, the response you will get is “We have no plans do add higher tiers right now, nor are we working on it. We cannot guarantee we will never add tiers, but it is currently not being worked on or considered.”

This sums it up pretty well:
