Thanks for reporting this, guys. I’ve escalated this up to the web team.
Do you have a son or daughter? I promise you that in school they have already learned more swears, curses, and obscenities than you can think of off the top of your head.
That may be true – but they didn’t learn it from the Guild Wars 2 forums, that’s one of the points here.
It’s an inappropriate slang word. It was filtered disregarding the empty spaces, surely to prevent a circumvention (no pun intended).
Please understand that it’s not possible to make an exception here.
Greetings
Most of us can figure out what a word was when it was written just by reading the context and the amount of filtered letters, and if we can do that anyways then there is no reason to try and protect us from bad words because we already know them. And use them. A lot.
Yes, it’s true that filtered words still may be obvious in context. If the use of a kittened word is identified as an insult or as off-topic, it will be moderated anyway.
But most importantly, the filtered words shouldn’t be shown on this forum.
Basically, users may feel even more insulted when they see which kind of insult has been used – “kitten” is much less aggressive, isn’t it?
Another thing is, imagine you’re constantly confronted with inappropriate language all over the forums – or you’re a new user who will be disturbed by the forums because of the use of such words.
This topic has been discussed several times now, but always ends up under lots of other threads…
Greetings
As they say, “Your mileage may vary” but I know a lot of players who connect from Israel and they say their gameplay experience is just fine. Most commonly they connect to the EU data center, because it’s closer to Israel, but some play on a US server with few issues. It’s really more a factor of your ISP and your system.

Guys, I’ve been working to help players for a long, long time. (12 years with ArenaNet alone.) And I’ve seen some situations that just blew my socks off, that I never would have expected, where family members get into huge tussles over ownership of a game account, or when couples, even married couples, write us to appeal for a resolution to a shared account situation.
I’m not trying to scare you — I’m telling you the truth. I wouldn’t share my account with my husband, my best friend, or Mother Theresa.

This is for new accounts.
Don’t forget, those who purchased previously had other opportunities: Beta access, Head-start access, digital items, the post-trial offer, event participation, etc. With each promotion there are different incentives.

To clarify, there’s no cinematic. But you can see it happen.
If I were a charr, I’d be looking at that airship with a lot of envy. Who knows, maybe someday we’ll see a competition.
The transition of the airship departing and arriving is at 10 AM PST each day , but all of the actual content is available at-will, all day long.
Thanks Navi.
And as far as the toys go, I think you’ll all be pleasantly surprised.
While I understand the potential for disappointment as a fan of the original game, I also believe Guild Wars has room for both old and new traditions. We seized the opportunity to appeal to the classic Guild Wars fan with Halloween, so it feels right to me that Wintersday will cover some new ground.
It also makes a lot of sense given the fact that not only have the human gods been missing for some time, humanity itself is rather beaten back to a relatively smaller corner of Tyria. So I hope you’ll reserve your judgement until you see what the new version of Wintersday is all about.
We tried our best to leave in some surprise without leaving the majority of players feeling lost and unaware of what activities are available for Wintersday (as was very much the case with Halloween). There’s one major missing piece of information that I’m sort of surprised no one has taken note of, which is exactly what toys the toymaker will be making.

Ok sorry now I’m totally confused. “Story mode” is usually used to referred to the dungeon, so I’ll ask again—did you complete “Victory or Death”? Do you have a current story step in the upper right corner?
Ah, ok, I asked the forum mods to move this to the dungeon forum then, since it’s not strictly a “story” issue. (Confusing, I know, but the story step and story mode of the dungeon are totally unrelated.)
I’m sorry, but I don’t understand what you mean by “last quest on camp”. Did you complete the Arah dungeon story mode, or did you complete “Victory or Death” (the last story step)?
Is the final story step complete? Note that the Zhaitan dungeon “story mode” and the actual story step are different, so it’s possible you completed the dungeoun but not the story step.
So, using the video as a guide, were you able to get past it? Occasionally (as in the video) the first step isn’t firing off, but I’ve never seen any others fail.
The gadget bugs are known issues, not sure when a fix will go in since it’s not something I can personally fix. CS has no ability to roll back/change your story step. Normally, logging out while in a story instance will cause you to appear in the open world zone on relogging, so that part sounds correct, but I’ve never heard of any story step just completing itself arbitrarily.
Hey folks!
Here’s the update. I talked with folks about the discrepancy between the defensive Simple Infusion and Versatile Simple Infusion cost differences and application, and we all came to the conclusion that a more fair vendor solution is the following:
-Remove the Simple Infusion for defensive slots from the vendor (currently costs 75 tokens)
-Lower the cost of the Versatile Simple Infusion to 75 tokens (from 225).
Since the versatile can fill both the defensive/offensive slots, we found this to be the least confusing resolution to the problem. There won’t be any refunds (to my knowledge) to the people who bought the Versatile Simple Infusion for 225 tokens.
I really hope that once a city got a visit, the toys / events / activities stay there until the end of the holidayevent. Otherwise I would have to log in everyday which I won’t be able to. I’d miss tons of fun events :-(
This reminds me of the one-time Karka-event, I hope this time it’s different :-/
If you miss any of the days in a specific city, you can re-play that days event all over again once Tixx arrives in Lion’s Arch. He will let you do this the entire time he is in Lion’s Arch, from his arrival there until the Wintersday event comes to an end.
strange. if I click the link I just get the lidl info that was there before?

There are also NPCs from all the other 4 races that show up later, though unless you did their story branch, you won’t recognize them.
No worries.
Have fun, I love that step. (“I hate you guys.”)
Pressing 1 does nothing?
Hi there,
Very funny and original way to create a thread I have to say
However, as this discussion has no real goal except complaining about the thief, I will now close it.
Thank you!
What happens when you take a drink? Going by the screenshot, it’s all working correctly.
I just looked at this story step and didn’t see any issues. If I’m reading your post correctly, you can’t see any of the effects when the consoles fire. What do you mean by “I see one, but never two”? Do some of the effects appear? What happens if you use the center console first?
Hello everyone.
We have proceed to clean the thread up, since it was quickly derailing into a pool of negativity and showing very poor personal exchanges. This does not bring anything good to the thread and all the people involved in the match-up and the discussion, as you may understand.
Please, bear in mind that although a little bit of competitiveness in WvW is good and can be challenging, we are all here mainly to have fun and enjoy the battles. Shows of bad sportsmanship will not be permitted and will be subsequently moderated. If the discussion does follow again the same level of negativity, we will proceed to close the thread.
Thanks for your collaboration.
To clarify: character death on disconnect is a WvW only change.
ArenaNet Gameplay Programmer
Wintersday is coming and along with all the other goodies there will be a few updates to WvW. Some of these changes are the result of forum feedback while others are part of our longer term plans for WvW. Here’s a quick preview of what WvW will get for Wintersday:
Advance notification of new builds (updated 12/14 – see below)
In order to allow WvW players to make good decions about siege placement, assault timing, etc. we’re adding a new build pre-announcement. This will be in the form of a message broadcast to all players some time before the current build expires. Because this notification is tied to one of the final steps in our build process, and those final steps take a variable amount of time, we won’t be able to say exactly when the current build will expire. Instead, the message will provide a window of time in which the new build will become available.
Update 12/14: This feature is still coming but due to some unforeseen technical difficulties it won’t be ready in time for the Wintersday build. We’re working to resolve the remaining issues and will turn on the new build advance notification system as soon as it’s ready.
Alt+F4 is no escape
If someone that you’re fighting disconnects during combat (via Alt+F4, killing the client process, etc.) their character will be instantly killed, death penalties will be applied, and XP & loot will be handed out as usual.
No more insta-build walls & gates
Destroyed walls and gates will now rebuild when they reach 10% health rather than on the very first repair. This means that when attackers down a wall or gate defenders won’t be able to instantly rebuild it. Walls and gates which are destroyed can still be damaged if they have any health.
Breakout events
We’ve added a new event type to WvW called Breakout events which trigger when one or more teams have been pushed completely out of a map. They’re designed both to help players break out of severly camped portal keeps and to provide assistance in establishing a foothold in each map. Here’s what designer Matt Witter has to say about them:
Break Out Events are special WvW events that will happen when a team has lost control of all defensive structures, not counting supply camps. An NPC commander will appear in the team’s start area and an event will start that prompts players to gather around. Once enough players are in the commander’s presence he will summon his trusty dolyak to give all allies in the area full supply. He will then lead the charge to the nearby objective and give players protection and assist with building siege to assault the objective with. Those benefits, along with a defensive boon that he applies to all nearby allies, makes the attacking players a force to be reckoned with. Defenders will have their work cut out for them, as once the gate or wall piece is destroyed the commander will move to the tower lord inside and attack anyone in his path.
These changes are just a small part of what the WvW team has been up to lately. As you may have already heard, we’re hard at work on some larger updates that we plan to deliver in February. We’re not quite ready to talk about the details yet but as February gets closer we’ll start to reveal more of our secrets.
Happy Wintersday and we’ll see you on the battlefield!

Perfect, since the question has been answered, we proceed to close the thread. Thanks for your quick contributions!
I agree with you. I made the mistake of counting my knowledge crystals with my fractal tokens and getting excited to buy my capacitor. I’ll try to get the ball rolling on this if it isn’t already
Workaround: No player should move until the story owner has loaded in, let them move forward to trigger the cutscene with Romke. The issue is that a secondary player can trigger the cutscene before the story owner is present, so they never get the signal that the story should proceed.
Should be fixed in the next content update.
I haven’t had an issue with this story step, so without seeing exactly what you’re doing I can’t offer any advice. I’m 99% certain it’s not bugged, though.
We are glad to hear that, Bibi. To the rest of you, thank you very much for your contributions
.
Closing the thread in 3, 2,1…
Hello to everyone.
Since the question has been answered, we proceed to close the thread. Thanks to all for your contributions!
You’d better be careful with such statements, this can easily result in an excrement storm considering the latest mesmer “bugfixes”.
True enough. I don’t do skill balancing, I do content work, so I can’t speak for the system designers who do that stuff. But having shown this off to them and made them aware of it, they just saw it as good play, not about an OP skill. So I don’t think there are any nerfs coming to mesmers due to this video, or to warriors about the Lupicus video.
This thread is getting way off topic, so I’m going to lock it down.
As the Smooth Penguin and Carbine have pointed out, our discussions are at an end. Your issue is fraud. Someone used a fraudulent credit card to purchase the game. We were never paid for the code, and we are in no way obligated to allow you to play on account that has not been properly purchased. Nor will any court, in any country, require us to provide you with a free game.
We are not willing to release the account to you, even if you add a new legitimate code. That was made clear in the communications from Support.
As you were told, this matter is closed.

Perfect, since the question has been solved, we proceed to close the thread.
If you asked for a refund your account would be permanently closed. There is a lot of cost involved in the refund process, and we cannot sustain someone going through that process more than once, so refunded accounts are no longer usable.
If you want to use your serial code, please start a new account.

In any debate about names, about “Should that or should that not be flagged” I remind folks that we have players from all around the world: different cultures, languages, ages, genders. And that means that we take care in name situation, particularly because players see names without choice — they are not filtered by an individual’s settings (unlike language in chat).
We don’t react immediately on a name report (unless it’s obviously bad) but instead review to see if it truly needs to be blocked. I think we’re pretty lenient and yet respectful of our community and of keeping the game pleasant for everyone.
