Why kill her?
When Anet finally decide to finish all this nonsense, put her in a cage and allow players throw rotten eggs at her.
I smell a mini-game idea.
I imagine a crab toss-que game where scarlet is the succulent crab and players are the karka. >:D all the other living story baddies are the players trying to catch scarlet. As players we just wanna roll them all flat.
That’s probably because no one knows for sure, and probably only devs are able to answer that question and they probably don’t lurk around the forums 24/7. Haha.
This incoming patch has confused me so much (it’s nice to be wrong – I like being wrong to help me understand what’s going on and don’t mind admitting being wrong)
So if I understand correctly:
“Only Infused items get the agony resistance infusion slot (currently we only have infused rings/backpieces). "
- Ascended / Legendary weapons accept the current “fine infusion” (2 per dual handed weapon) and this is not a agony resistance infusion slot (it’s defence, attack or omni and will stay that way). So this would stay the same.Rings/Backpieces have the (infused) +5 AR built in stat converted to a new “agony infusion slot”. This is the new upgradable slot with more AR via fractal agony infusion drops.
Fine infusions are still best in class remain so for the other types of infusion slots (omni, defence, attack).
Yes this is correct. ^^
Just to add on to GoldenTruth’s explanation, as well as some examples:
Now:
Infused rings/back:
- inherent +5 AR
- offensive/defensive infusion slot which you can place versatile AR (the one that cost 75 fractal relics), or the fine infusions OP described.
After:
Infused rings/back:
- agony resistance infusion slot – which is the only slot you can place +X agony resistance infusions, or omni-versatile stat infusions
- offensive/defensive infusion slot which you can place versatile AR (the one that cost 75 fractal relics), or the fine infusions OP described.
Now:
Ascended amulets/accessories/weapons:
- offensive/defensive/utility(amulets only) slot – which you can place versatile AR (the one that cost 75 fractal relics), or the fine infusions OP described.
After:
Ascended amulets/accessories/weapons:
- No Change since they do not have the infused version yet.
Hope this clears things up.

I don’t think AR is the main point here though. Only certain mobs (usually bosses) have agony attacks and those can be avoided if you learn to read their attacks. What the OP was pointing out is that even the normal Aetherblade and molten mobs hurt a lot more than usual and that merely increasing their numbers/health pool/damage is not going to increase the variety/fun in fighting them.
It will just be a lot more irritating.
As ZilentNight has very kindly plotted the graphs to show us the ridiculous amounts of gold we have to spend if all we rely on is +1 infusions, due to the exponential behaviours of the formula, I really think the devs have some alternatives to that. It’s really hard to miss out on that kind of information and I have faith in the developers that they definitely have seen that and made plans for it.
Neither am I a fractal runner, (I’m secretly happy my main’s fotm level is just 33) but on the contrary this release gets me excited as the main reason I resented doing fractals was the bad rewards:time ratio. Now they are adding gold into the daily chest, along with easier fracs at the start, and higher chances of getting a fractal weapon, this is exactly the kind of update I need to get back into the fractals.
((Awesome video, Red! I don’t know where this thread is going, but I’m having the most RPG fun I’ve had in years! Thanks for the ah-HA’s and chuckles everyone!))
This video is really gold. The syncs, “up the stairs” the scream “monster!” from the little girl. the music. Wow.
Just wow. Great job to everyone in this thread. Please keep this up!~
or rather “8 lights achievement difficult?”
I usually do her in the Asuran one as well but after others recommendation I went to sylvari… Which I didn’t get the achievement. =/ guess back to Asuran for me. Thanks!
Which arena did u do her on?
I believe thief is the easiest to do this achievement. I specifically crafted a thief and geared it just for this achievement.. But even then it took me dozens of tries to get used to the thief and get that one time I managed to kill her…. And the achievement didn’t count. T.T
Justinprocrew on YouTube has a really nice guide on using thief to get this achievement. Things not stated are your personal skill on using thief, personal skill on mechanics of the fight, and some elements of luck in p2…
So I didn’t miscount after all? Hmm sucks to know that if it is really bugging out. Hopefully they have a way of tracking if you ave completed it. Really getting on my nerves trying to get the achievement after 100+ tries

He probably means SAB.
Hi guys, just wanna ask around if anyone has gotten this achievement on their Ranger. I managed to get the mini but has yet to complete this achievement. It keeps nagging at the back of my OCD mind and I would really like to complete this before QG ends..
Anyone has successfully done it and mind sharing your traits/gear and strategy? =)
Love it. U missed out pigs. Hahahha. Personally I’ve never used them too. But I’ve read that they are pretty hard to master. Should be good fun. =)
Sigil of agony does nothing for shortbow because of how the game rounds condition duration.
Sharpening stone isn’t competitive.
Extra pet condition dmg isn’t competitive.
30% more pet dmg on crit in TPvP is better than 30% faster.
Last I checked ‘natural healing’ in the beastmaster tree ticked for less than regen every 2-3s.
Greatsword with rabid isn’t competitive.
A bird tends to be better than lynx (a little more towards preferance though).
Signet of the wild is great in really tanky more healing power specced setups.
Yours is missing a few things to really fit in that place.
From wiki:
Please Note: as for all condition damage, it applies on every second a specific condition lasted. fractional durations do not get benefit and is wasted.
From what I understand from this, it means that if I have a 1 sec condition duration, it will only proc once. If I have a 1.2s condition, it will proc only once a sec, until it is applied 5 times, which brings the duration up to 6s (the next whole number) so since Sigil of agony totals up to 1.55s, (based on a theoretical 1s duration) every 2nd application of bleed will bring up to 3.1s instead of 2s right? If that’s the case I still believe it helps. Anyone please correct me if I’m wrong though. And crossfire applies a 3sec bleed actually.
For sharpening stone, it’s more of adding on to bleeds. If you feel it’s not competitive do you have any suggestions to make it better? =)
I feel that extra pet condition damage synergies better with the build. If its not competitive, maybe I would suggest vigorous renewal? O.o but that would be a defensive trait right? And thus even less competitive lols. Would you suggest anything else?
30% pet dmg on crit would definitely be helpful, as long as the pets catch up on the enemies… Which they fall behind on if they can’t catch them as effectively with the 30% movement increase actually.
Natural healing (according to wiki) heals 133 every 2s in combat.
Greatsword is here simply because I prefer it over sword =) I love the defensive utilities it brings and the swoop or block wins over sword in my opinion. =) so.. It’s not really meant to be competitive haha.
I use felines exclusively mainly because of the trait Rending Attacks..
As I explained, signet of the wild helps with surviving on the field, and it’s a plus point because I don’t need to care about it =P would you suggest anything else to replace it?
Sorry if I sound defensive haha, but these are choices I make because I felt it makes sense. Lols. That said, if you dislike this build maybe it’s not for you, or maybe you can give some suggestions to make it better? =)
They sell for 7-8g each. And you can get 200 tokens from running all 3 paths.. Which, depending on the team should take you around 1hr 45mins and above.
I don’t know why but I can’t seem to edit my original post.. But anyway, here is the skill calculator link.
Hmm, yea I didn’t do the math but yea, 1 bleed every 2 seconds do sound right. I’ll try it out tonight! Sounds pretty good to me. =)
Thanks! Do try it out and let me know how it feels! =)
Hi all! I would like to share my pvp build here for discussion. =) I really enjoy this build as I feel I can fight/survive rather well. Without further ado, here is the build:
Traits:
0/10/30/0/30
10 – Skirmishing
- Agility Training – Pets move 30% faster.
30 – Wilderness Survival
- Expertise Training – Pets deal extra condition damage.
- Oakheart Salve – Gain regeneration for 5s when you suffer from bleeding, poison or burning. This can only trigger once every 20 seconds.
- Empathic Bond – Pets periodically take conditions from you.
30 – Beastmastery
- Speed Training – Pets recharge their skills 10% faster.
- Rending Attacks – Drake, feline, devourer, and shark pets bleed on critical hit with their basic attacks.
- Natural Healing – Your pets have natural health regeneration.
Runes:
- 2 Superior Runes of the Afflicted – +28 Condition Damage, +15% Bleed duration
- 2 Superior Runes of the Centaur – +28 Power, +15% Bleed duration
- 2 Superior Runes of the Krait – +28 Condition Damage, +15% Bleed duration
Trinkets:
- Rabid Amulet with Rabid Jewel
Weapons:
- Shortbow with Sigil of Superior Agony (Increased Inflicted Bleeding Duration: 10%)
- Greatsword with Sigil of Superior Geomancy (Bleeding upon Swap)
Utilities (slots 6-10):
- Troll Unguent – You and your pet regenerate health over time.
- Sharpening Stone – Bleed foes with your next five attacks.
- Signet of Renewal – Passive: Cures a condition every ten seconds. (Stun Breaker)
- Signet of the Wild – Passive: Grants health regeneration to you and your pet.
- Entangle – Entangle your foe. They are immobile until the vines are destroyed.
Pets:
- Lynx – Rending Pounce (Leap at a foe and make them bleed.)
- Jaguar – Stalk (Gain stealth.)
Explanation:
This build revolves around a single concept: Bleeding.
From the runes and sigil of agony, all bleeding duration are increased by 55%, and bleeding comes from multiple avenues:
- Crossfire (Shortbow auto attack)
- Sigil of Geomancy when swapping to GS for melee
- Maul (Greatsword #2)
- Sharpening Stone utility (next 5 attacks bleed)
- Entangle (immobilize and bleeding roll into one)
- Feline’s Maul ability (Slash a foe multiple times and make them bleed.)
- Lynx’s Rending Pounce
- BM traited pet’s Rending Attacks (bleed on crit)
Heal:
Taking Troll Unguent over Healing Spring is because the main condition removals come from 2 passive avenues: Signet of Renewal and Empathic Bond, and if need be, Signet of Renewal active acts as an instant condition cleanser as well as a stun breaker. Thus Troll Unguent with irremovable healing and highest heal is superior in this case.
Traits:
Agility Training over Sharpened Edges because Sharpened Edges apply only 1 stack of bleeding for 1 second (albeit buffed to 1.55s) proccing on 66% chance (wiki) as well as only apply on critical hits (which this build has 37%) is simply inferior to the 30% movement speed buff. And pets (cats in this case) do require that extra movement speed to catch up on enemies. (you can test this easily on the moving golem in HoTM)
Speed Training is simply because most of the time when I’m deeply concentrated on the dueling (dodging, healing, apply bleeds, utilities etc.) I simply forget to activate F2 many times. (I know. You can say that I’m simply unskilled, but this is what I observed) Due to this negligence, I simply prefer to let my cats run wild. And with Speed Training, Agility Training and 30 points in BM, my pets hardly need my attention. For those of you who prefer more micromanaging of your pets, Commanding Voice or Mighty Swap are great alternatives too.
With 300 healing power from 30 in BM, Signet of the Wild gives 80 passive heal per sec and as you might notice by now, I’m incredibly lazy. (2 passive condition removals, ignoring dear Lynx and Jag) the passive healing is more than welcome an addition to my utility belt. The only thing I need to worry in battles are focusing on weapon attacks, dodging, and that Sharpening Stone utility which I only need to use every 45s. Of course, Entangle as an elite has such a great synergy with this build that Rampage as One is simply ignored. (I also notice I hardly use RaO as compared to Entangle when I’m in a tight spot)
Of course, as per all builds, this build is very suitable and comfortable for me to use, and I think the main thing in finding the right build for you is that sweet spot where you like what you use and can survive well in it. (You can see why I dislike trapper build. 2 or 3 traps to use every 16-20 secs is O.O complicated. Also, GC (glass cannon) builds has such low survivability I find myself trying to survive more than dealing damage. A dead ranger deals no damage >.>)
Feel free to trial and error with this build to your liking, and I hope you enjoy this build bleeding people as much as I do! =)
Cheers!
Eisteria
I think the mindset is kind of wrong here. 5 zerker warriors out-dps 5 zerker of ANY profession. But I doubt you would see people posting at guardian forums stating that zerker guardians lose to warriors.
In PvE, the main thing in playing a dungeon is probably the team dynamics and individual player skills. 5 of the same class is definitely less effective than a mix of classes in the same dungeon. A skilled ranger can definitely outlast/out-dps a new warrior. Likewise, an experienced guardian/engineer can heal/res the party efficiently.
But in most cases, you are unlikely to have that perfect set-up. You could be playing with a pug group, or guiding guildmates, playing with friends etc. The importance here, in my opinion, would be to play your class most effectively, whichever class that may be.
Hmm. I never really thought about reaching 100% with oil and curry.. I need to try this out! Yea, the ruby orbs vs scholar or ranger remains I guess. I just threw ruby orbs into mine before I reached a decision! =D
It sometimes happen to me too, although I attributed it to lag. I’m not sure if its the same thing as you guys. My solution is to simply quickness-stomp as usual, then wait until I see the actual stomp complete before moving away.
The argument for this would be that in order to reach anywhere close to 100% crit, you would sacrifice a lot of power in exchange of precision, in addition to spamming fury all the time. Which I believe to be overall less consistent (and much more trouble) than having consistent high damage with berserker.
Of course I’ve not done any damage calculation of whether the consistent crit damage from precision outdo the damage output from power, but for simplicity’s sake I simply changed all my Rampager over to berserker.
He could have flipped 10 venoms. No surprise there.
Also, u might notice that sometimes when bouncing multiple times on a single shroom, there are some bounces where your character crouches and then a single bounce where your character doesn’t crouch. Those bounce that don’t crouch are usually those that made me fail.
I suggest waiting a few bounces until the non-crouch appears, then make ur jump after a single crouch bounce afterwards.
Hi, I would like to suggest having an Achievements sub forum as I was thinking of checking out the forums for a place to read/discuss about various types of achievements, or even suggestions people have on doing which monthly and stuff, or perhaps what are some things people do that newer players might not know of. But I kind of notice the achievement stuff are all over the place, like some people post which monthly to do in “Flame and Frost”.
With a leader board coming up on Achievement points, I think the addition of this sub forum will direct all various types of achievement discussions in one place. It will be easier on the players to seek out relevant information.
Thanks for reading!
We are always looking for new Singaporeans to join our community! =) you can drop me a PM or a mail in game!
Either of the methods will see you input months of gameplay into it, given that you don’t play the TP and do the content regularly. That said, I do enjoy the journey I undertook to go after a legendary. I’ve started playing in dec, and set my goals on the dreamer. As of right now, around 700+ hours in, I’m almost there with 3 gifts and lacking the precursor. Playing the game normally will net you the materials here and there as well, although, as many has pointed out, it’s usually much faster farming for gold and buying the materials yourself. I do feel that crafting it is still cheaper than buying it from TP, even if you bought the precursor off the market.
Just wanna add on that I use a variation of this build, namely: 20/5/15/0/30
Main difference is this – 20 Marksmanship – cripple to foes , piercing arrows.
I run the exact same WS and BM traits. (W/O the GS cd though.. I miss the swiftness from weapon swap too much)
I use SB/GS too and that’s really my favourite weapon sets for WvW.
The only thing is I kind of believe SB’s overall dmg increases by many folds with piercing arrow traits. And in Zerg vs Zerg situations, I feel that this trait pays off more in the long run.
@Atroras: Full MF set, alright, I tend to work solo, but I dont really have issues dieing unless im running though an army of mobs (even then I usually come out alive without lag), Rampager, alright, that gives me something to think about.
Yea, I forgot to mention that Rampager has condition damage as well, which works well if you intend to use traps. =) another choice to see if you’ll like your stats is to try out different builds in PvP. The trinkets and runes there are free to experiment n (albeit different from PvE) but its a good gauge for the play style.
And yes! Always keep a separate MF set just for farming. It’s much more efficient for farming. Then run dungeons/fractals/WvW in your main set.
Working towards dreamer!!
Lacking as of right now: 235 crystalline dust (approx 50g) and lover (approx ???)
Can’t decide if I wanna gamble or save up… If saving then that’s an additional 480g..
On the other hand, seems like quite a few crystal desert people is gonna have their rainbow unicorns too! Looking forward ^^
I think if you are considering a MF set at all, you are better off having a full MF set just for farming. In which case even masterwork items work just as well, since cursed shores farming etc you don’t really need to deal as much dmg as long as you are in a party. As for more general armor for PvE and WvW, you can consider Rampager for the high crit and innate power and precision. Personally I’m using Berserker after using Rampager for a long time as I wanted higher damage for the same survivability.
Well even though weapon skills are not static, it can be argued that legendaries are not static as well. I would think that the main reason you want to use a legendary is that you like using the (current?) weapon skills and you use it often. Hardly worth it if you hardly use dagger and craft an incinerator to walk around LA with right? O.o
Looking for fellow Singaporeans! As long as you are one, you can join us! No age, race, religion limit so feel free to have fun and join us! Whisper me or drop me a mail in game! =)
I always feel that cursed shores drop rather regularly as compared to dungeons or fractals, though I don’t usually farm there as it bores me into land of sleepiness.
Ory-chal kitten
Ory-kal kitten
Oreh-chal kitten
Oreh-kal kitten
OchocincoHow do you personally pronounce it? I’ve heard countless variations and would like to hear yours as well.
Totally laughing at how the last 3 letters become kittens. Lol.
In a video game that prints money you have to have a drain somewhere that destroys money. If some of the money created cannot be destroyed then it will simply accumulate to infinity. People trading with each other are not destroying money; they’re simply moving money from one pocket to another.
There has to be mechanisms that destroys some of the money being created in order for the money to preserve value. In an economy that fails; the people lose faith in the value of the money and the result of that is they end up creating their own money.
I’m sorry if I’m misunderstanding your post, but that is wrong. People trading through the TP are destroying money through the tax.
You misunderstood my post. People trading with each other in the absence of a tax are simply moving money around.
Which is why tax is needed right?
