[Suggestion] Idea: Solution to "trenchcoats"

It certainly would be nice to have more options that aren’t trenchcoats. I just have lost hope that Anet will do it. It’s been an ongoing request from the community for years.

My advice would be to look at sites like Metabattle and other places for advice and builds, look into a few pieces of ascended gear, and as much as I hate to say it, get better. Legendaries do not give the advantage that you seem to think they do and are in no way needed for any area of game play. You are coming back to a game that has changed a lot in the last couple of years and trying to be competitive with people who have likely remained current on gameplay, builds, and tactics.

Pink Aurora?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Auralae.7482

Auralae.7482

Why are people saying its pink? It’s a light purple glow, I looked at it on all 3 of my monitors and it’s purple mixed with white. It even has some blue in it, but I’m not seeing any pink.

The orbs look pinkish white, but overall they look more white then pink.

Because people perceive color differently, whether through learned labels, experience, emotion, or actual eye structures.

Less emphasis on mega guilds and group content. More content for solo and groups under 5.

It’s a MMO bro. Sounds like you’re seeking content typically found in single-player RPGs.

Not a “bro,” dude but thanks. I’m also aware of what an MMO is. I’ve been playing them since UO and every single one has had plenty of content for groups under 5 and guilds that aren’t 100+, so get a new line because that one is long played out.

On a positive note, the vast majority of content in GW2 is just fine for solo or small group play.

Can you give an example of content designed exclusively for guilds with over 100 members?

Where did I ever say that there is content designed exclusively for guilds with over 100 members? Where did I ever say there was no content for solo or small group play?

What I said is that I personally would like the next expansion to have more content for solo, small group, and that is friendly toward small guilds rather than the focus seen in HoT that seemed to have content designed to encourage larger guilds, groups of more than 5 and activities that seem less friendly to players who need to afk or play in shorter time blocks. That doesn’t mean I want those things at the exclusion of content geared toward 5+ or larger guilds or that I believe Anet designs exclusive content for large groups. It simply means that I’d like the next expansion to have more new content for what I mentioned than when compared to HoT, which seemed to be more of an xpac for those interested in larger group content and greater time investment.

I’m glad. It saved me money because I would have bought some on sale. Those are one of the things I actually break out real money for instead of gold to gem conversion. However, it’s not worth full price to me. I’ve only bought them when they were 30% off or more.

Auralae.7482

OP’s question was valid. First, it was originally in the general discussion forum. Quite a few people who have no interest in HoT aren’t hanging out in the HoT forum reading “401 pages of HoT feedback.” Second, with HoT being out for a very long time, people who haven’t purchased likely have reasons beyond just “needlessly complaining” about whatever thing they didn’t like or didn’t get. With a new expansion on the horizon, knowing why players have held out on not purchasing the content after 1.5 years is helpful. Lastly, as a long time regular poster, you should know that these forums are nothing BUT rehashing the same topics endlessly.

Less emphasis on mega guilds and group content. More content for solo and groups under 5. I don’t care if it’s challenging, but I don’t want it to require a group of 5+ or a large guild or to be huge long chains or fights that require long periods of time with no ability to break.

More story/lore.

Ability to save build templates and gear set ups.

More armor skins that are available in game and not through gem shop.

Make crafting more worthwhile.

I mostly play alone and in varying spurts. I also need the ability to afk or log out frequently and without notice. I also tend to stop playing the game for months on end when RL gets busy. I have no interest in raids or involved guild stuff (did that plenty in WoW). I am at a place in my life where extremely casual is all I have to devote to games. I don’t tend to like heavy armor classes, so revenant didn’t hold much interest for me. In short, I just never saw enough content in HoT to justify the price for me.

I might eventually buy it when it’s 50% off again or maybe I’ll wait until the next expansion. I’m at the point where $25 is probably worth it to explore elite specs and to run around in HoT zones with my family on those few times when we have the ability to play together. Since HoT, I’ve put money into Anet’s pockets with buying gems here or there, so it’s not an issue of money. It’s just that $50 has never seemed worth it for the content that’s of interest to me.

Confirmed: We play our game.

Personally, I play every day after work and on weekend, too. (I did a lot of Toypocalypse over the holidays — man I love that as much as Dragon’s Nest in Guild Wars!) Anyway, when I’m online I see many of my fellow Anet folks online, too! We’re an active bunch.

As others have pointed out, for tracking or chat recording or other purposes, we don’t need bots. As the saying goes, “We have the technology.” (Bonus points for knowing the source. )

I have seen Gaile Gray play a million times She is often seen in LA near the MF. Just chillin… :p I remember around halloween this past year i was chatting to her, and I told her something like pretty please make some cute butterfly crystal looking weapons to go with my fab butterfly wings, and presto not even a few weeks later they were there in the BlackLions Specialist Weapons and I was so thrilled to see them in display I was like yaaaaiiii Gaile listened to me :p (that or they had already had an idea such as the one i gave her…) still that was the best day ever

Yep. I’ve chatted with Gaile in LA as well.

Everyone’s opinion has value.

I simply believe that our rules against harassment encompass this sort of situation, where there’s no legitimate reason to shout spoilers in game and that the only motivation would seem to be a desire to cause distress to others. That would seems to make such activities reportable offenses that our CS agents will analyze and react to, as appropriate. (And let’s be clear, this was not a conversation, this was merely one person trying his/her best to spoil the movie for as many players a possible. Some sort of warped sense of power, perhaps? Who knows??)

As we have always said, players are welcome to report questionable chat or comments about which they have concerns. And as Elden Arnaas mentioned, each situation will be reviewed and acted upon, or not, after an analysis by the team.

As to timing, with theatres sold out for days and day, even those with a heavy devotion to the film series may simply not have been able to see it yet. What’s a good shelf date for “No spoilers, please?” (And remember, I’m talking only the very current spoiler, not the ending of Anna Karenina. ) I’m willing to ask CS, and I’d like to have opinions here. Maybe one week? Two weeks? What do you think?

I don’t think any time period because I think it’s silly to try and have a policy against spoilers for a movie, book, or show on the basis that it might cause distress to someone. I think that if someone is going to be so traumatized by knowing what will happen that their day is truly ruined, then they should take appropriate precautions, such as turning off chats or not getting on the internet or talking to people.

Now, if someone is obviously and intentionally spamming, harassing, or griefing, then that falls under the ToS and why should there be a time limit on that?

Edited because I can’t grammar before coffee.

The people arguing against this not being rude, making this more difficult than it needs be, and diluting the obvious in my opinion are the exact kind of people likely to do such a thing.

It is just as easy to whisper, party up for a private chat, whatever…Stop feigning helplessness.

You really shouldn’t make assumptions.

I haven’t seen the movie. Might get around to seeing it. Haven’t had it spoiled in GW2, in spite of being in LA and DR quite a bit since it came out. Wouldn’t care much if it did get spoiled. It’s just a movie. Tbh, I think it’s a little ridiculous how upset people get over it, calling for reporting, bans and denouncing the hope “for the entire community” because they read something that spoiled a surprise. In some cases, yes, it’s intentionally rude. However, there’s plenty of rudeness that goes on. It happens. Move on. It’s silly to try and make some sort of reportable policy for someone spoiling a particular movie because it’s popular and people have a vested interest in it.

Spamming is against the ToS and there’s a report feature there for it. In that case, report and get over it.

Not 100%, but sometimes I just wish bad bad things regarding some people in games.

So a guy is in LA spamming Star Wars spoilers. Nice.

PS: I’ve seen it already but C’MON!

Report it. Please!!

Why on earth is this reportable? So does this mean that no one can talk about any book, movie, or show that other people might not have seen because someone might get upset that it was spoiled? Or is it just new things? Or just a certain degree of popularity? Is there some special rubric to determine what is a reportable spoiler or not? Seriously, what makes someone talking about the new Star Wars movie a reportable offense?

I ask that you read my comments above to understand. I think I addressed your questions (before you posted them) with a reference to the immediacy of this situation.

And as I made clear, it’s my opinion that I’ve stated, while seeking input from Customer Support. From what I’m told, this person isn’t engaging in a conversation, isn’t interacting with others. He or she has chosen to stand in the heart of Tyria posting spoilers. And to me, that seems antagonistic towards other players.

You may disagree. Heck, Customer Support may disagree. But I feel that there is nothing that our community gains with such actions, and there is something that they lose so I encourage players to allow CS to make the final decision.

I was typing my question when you typed your response. I have read your response. Can’t say I agree, but everyone has their opinions and mine is worth little.

re: Why on earth is this reportable? – The OP, Gaile, and most of the other posters in this merged thread are talking about people deliberately spamming spoilers in map chat. (for the purpose of griefing) Not someone who accidentally types in local or map chat instead of whisper or party chat.
Like Gaile said, CS will make individual judgements per report.

And then at what point is it not reportable? A week from now? A month from now? After a user poll has determined that 90% of GW2 players currently playing have seen the movie? It’s a nebulous thing that’s motivated solely because some people have a vested interest in omg STAR WARS and it’s not made clear in the ToS that certain movies at certain times are reportable offenses if intentionally spoiled.

Slippery slope imo.

Prices are going down because it’s the weekend and more casual players are doing holiday activities and selling the drinks, along with some who fall for people trying to manipulate the market. Drinks still sell very quickly above 9 silver each, which is only a little less than what they were selling for on Tuesday and right in line with what they were selling for on Wednesday.

It feels absolutely great having spent so many hours on a class, just to play a healer in the end.

I agree with this sarcasm.

I played a Ranger for three years. Haven’t played her since HoT. I play Mesmer now. I would love to go back to Ranger, but I don’t want to main a healer.

Just because the Ranger HAS a healing skill doesn’t mean you have to use it, I’m not, I think it’s moronic to give a ranged/pet class a healing skill with little relevance to the role the class has played since the beginning: the Druid should have been given to the Ele, seeing as how that class already had a healing variant.

It actually annoyed me the main class I play’s Elite skill is utterly useless for the playstyle that attracted me to it in the first place and why it has by far the most HPs of any of the level 80s I had when HOT launched.

I would have been so happy if the druid/healing elite had been given to the ele.

As a veteran player, you get to pay the same price as a free to play player unless you wanted to pre-purchase, then it was same price and a character slot.

On a good note, HoT is on sale some places and will continue to go on sale more frequently. If you wait long enough, it will be worth the price for the content it offers someone who already bought the game.

I block the occasional I get.

A thing to note, they whisper people using mapchat. 2 of us were chatting and with 5sec of each other we both said something about just getting golds seller whisper. Not suggesting you not use map chat but when you can/is appropriate use a less public chat. To whisper you they need to be close to target you or right click your map chat.

Since HoT, particularly in the past 2 weeks, I’ve had quite a few gold spam whispers. I never had a single one prior to that. They hang out in the pvp lobby and whisper people using the bank, trade post, afk at the portal, etc. I’ve never once said anything in map chat there. It’s the only place I’ve seen gold sellers other than an occasional mapchat spam in Lion’s Arch.

It’s a pain, but I always report for gold selling on the first whisper, then report for spamming on the second whisper and block.

OP claims to make 50g/hr in another post. I tend to think that’s an exaggeration. It’s also going to be a lot less once people read this post. More people will do it and flood the market, dropping prices.

You can think whatever you like, don’t believe me? try yourself and then post. I’m posting because I did it and I’m just trying to help people how to get gold faster than farming events.
I don’t care if prices dropped, I have 4 sets of ascended and 5 legendary, I’m not greedy.

I said that I thought your prior claim of 50g per hour was an exaggeration. Your posts in this thread that clarified you were using time gated materials not counted in the gathering count you mentioned and that it was really more like 30g per hour. So, in other words, an exaggeration.

It’s also not incorrect to point out that if more people do it, the price will go down. Not once did I say you were being greedy, but pointing out what happens when more people add to the supply. Nor did I condemn you for trying to help others, but simply answer someone’s question based on claims in your post history and that I was skeptical that people would be able to earn the 50g/hr you previously claimed in another thread.

I have no desire to “try for myself” because I have enough gold to do what I want in game and have no urge to do timed farming runs.

Verdict? HoT any good / worth the money?

Depends on your goals and what you enjoy.

So the real question to now be asked…

IS THERE A SECRET TEQUATL PARTICIPATION METER?

No. There’s not. It was coincidence. It’s rare when I don’t get gold participation on a battery phase or main event, and it hasn’t helped me see an ascended or hoard.

Let me point out an example that ground my gears today.

For quite some time there have been a number of posts on this forum about the problems with Legendaries requiring failed events and the toxic chat that is resulting from that. Today, I happen to find out that a month ago there was a post on reddit by an ANet employee discussing this situation and asking for examples of failed events being required for a Legendary.

I’ve been reading the forums for quite some time. I don’t recall even ONE red post addressing the questions on any one of these threads here that have been going on for days, if not weeks.

It’s things like that that made me feel that reddit is ANet’s true official forum. No matter what they say.

It’s really quite sad how much of the dissatisfaction and negativity on the forums could be reduced with more posts and interaction from Anet. I think that most people posting here want to love the game and keep playing and supporting it. Instead, the lack of response and interaction just makes it worse, then people come to the official forums and all they see are pages of posts expressing concerns and nothing but crickets from those who might have the ability to make them at least feel like Anet has heard the concerns.

It’s cruel RNG. Most of the days that I get on, I do a Teq run. There are more than a few times that I do it twice a day on different characters. I couldn’t begin to count how many I’ve done. It’s just an event I enjoy. All the achievements were long-ago accomplished.

However, the rarest loot I’ve gotten to date from it was a Shard of the Deep and a couple of Benthic Aquabreathers. Definitely no hoard or ascended chests. Just lots of spoons and runes. I do have a mini Teq, but that’s only because my husband, who has done maybe 20 or 30 Teq runs total took pity on me and gave me one of the multiple Teq minis that he’s gotten. Did I mention he’s also gotten 2 ascended chests? My son, who’s done even fewer Teq runs has gotten 2 ascended weapon drops.

I love Teq, but the Sunless hates me. Around our house, I call him Teh-koodle-poodle. Maybe that’s why he hates me.

Most people on FORUM are not happy with HoT. People that are happy with the game are playing it rather than posting on forum.

Plenty of people can’t play the game for some reason or another, such as being in a location where they don’t have access to the game, but can be on the forums. Furthermore, it takes all of a few minutes to post on a forum and doing so doesn’t mean you aren’t playing or enjoying portions of the game. For example, know what I do when I’m waiting on Tequatl or the daily boss to spawn? I tab over to the forums because defenses are organized and I don’t have any desire to sit and read the mapchat.

Yes. Me.

That stuff is on The Internet and as such needs to be taken with a pinch of salt. That same site was quoted numerous times in the Neverwinter forums as “evidence” of how rubbish the company was, or had become. You didn’t have to be a genius to spot the bogus entries that were made by players rather than (ex-)employees.

Think about what would motivate someone to post a review of their (ex-)employer on a website and about the category of person who would do so.
I’m not saying it is all sweetness and light at ANet. I am saying that there is no way a review site like that is ever going to give a balanced view of a company.

(Hands up anyone who thinks that this GW forum gives a true representation of player sentiment as a whole…)

While it should be taken in perspective, I will say that my experience with Glassdoor reviews and companies in my area, particularly in the tech sector, is that the reviews paint a fairly accurate snapshot of corporate culture, problems in specific departments, benefits, and leadership at a specific point in time.

For each disgruntled person who leaves a scathing review, there’s usually an HR person posting or asking someone in the company to post a positive one. Yes, it happens all the time. A lot of HR departments are VERY aware of their Glassdoor rating. Now, do the scathing reviews or highlighted problems mean that a company is failing at its product or service? Nope. Does it mean that’s how the company is at the current time? Nope. Does it mean it’s a bad company to work for? Not that either.

If you look over enough Glassdoor reviews, you will also notice very similar themes with a majority of companies, particularly if looking in the same industry and location or if looking at a company that has gone through any leadership or ownership changes.

In general though, my experience is that the Glassdoor reviews aren’t a good indicator of current employee productivity & satisfaction, product quality, or company success.

Sorry that it’s been so frustrating for you. The best advice I can give, and I know it’s probably not going to help you feel any less frustrated, is to just try and enjoy the Tequatl fight instead of focusing on the hindrance. It’s a fun fight for decent rewards, and if you do it enough, the whirlpools happen.

He makes some good points, but seriously, the guilt trips and manipulation are not necessary.

Agree. The tone of the post was incredibly patronizing.

The visual noise is overwhelming. I think it should look more like this:

Add me in to the list of those unhappy elementalists who dislike the reductions. I mostly play ele and mesmer. I happen to LIKE the flashy effects and visual clues. If it’s causing issues for people, put in a slider or make it an option,

I do Teq frequently and still see the pools spawn often at 75% and sometimes after first burn. I tend to pop onto the map 10 min before the fight or less. You just need to know where to be. As mentioned, in front of the turrets is a good place, as is near the little island by his foot. Try manning north boats or north hills defense team, which might help you see them.

There are some things about bugs for Predator in this thread with a dev reply. Not sure what they’ve actually fixed yet.
