The amount of whining and entitlement is incredible. It’s truly horrible you actually have to play the game mode to get your rewards. The amount of time you need to put into the game mode to get ticket rewards is a fraction of what vets have already put in. In addition, nothing is preventing you from popping some boosters and leveling very quickly (an option not available to vets years ago).

Anet made a great decision with the pip reward system and I hope it stays. I really hope they don’t cave to the gimmie gimmie now now now people that won’t be around anyways once they get the shiny they want.

Guardian blocks can be traited to aply fire damage, to stack more fire when blocking guards can use Guardian runes as well.

This. And to trait for applying the conditions, the guardian sacrifices a lot in terms of being able to effectively fight a group. So, no, it’s not an exploit, it’s not op, it’s not hacking. It is, in the current wvw, a legitimate tactic with upsides and down.

It’s a specific counter to ac’s, but the AC will show burning if that’s what’s happening.

I think its retaliation cuz ive seen it happen to mortars, cannons etc. Either way I’m telling everyone to abuse it so anet will nerf it. Its ridiculous that anet would put those in game to help defend against blobs but the blobs just passively destroy them.

No, people are telling you exactly what’s going on and you continue to insist on not listening.

It’s sad we need to install third party programs to gain the information we should have in game. As for hostility and elitism, that exists whether there are DPS meters or not. There should be metrics for people to judge how well the members of a team are performing. If you can’t handle elitists and people being mean to you, perhaps you’re playing the wrong game.

I agree with the above posts. The links make no sense. Anet – what is the thought process and reasoning behind the linking and closing of servers? Do you pay attention to your game? Stop the arbitrary linking or open BG, JQ, and TC if you insist on forcing the arbitrary linking.

This event is quite poorly designed. We have to find ways to “work around” the sensor bug, having to be on flat ground, not being able to see the indicators or the orbs on the ground…

The AP cap is fine, but i think if all rewards/skins are to be obtainable (by anyone) ANET should add more AP opportunities to the game. For instance, start a new “daily” category with a 1-2k AP cap. The new bloodstone fen dailies might be a good place to start.

I completed this today. To kill that assassin I stood on top of the chest on the top floor and used slingshot. In addition, there are about 100 assassins now, not 90 as there were last time.

Yes, it’s great that Anet has communicated to us about the issue. I think it is a fair request though to let us queue again outside of HotM. Whether people are shooting up the division ladder too fast or just not enough people remaining in PvP due to the matchmaking, let people in queue leave the map. It does seem like Anet is taking the easy way out and saying “nope we can’t do that” rather than explore ways to make it happen.

Invest less in cringeworthy “espurts” and invest more into making the game fun. When more people like and play pvp the scene will develop itself. You’ve been forcing espurts for 4 years and you’ve always had like 5 teams competing, that should at least make you consider your strategy.

I too am dissatisfied and saddened by S2. It’s extremely sad because GW2 has a great game engine and player base and time and time again Anet mismanages anything PvP related (WvW included) by making bad decision after bad decision. My hope for the future is slowly dwindling and I fear the best days of GW2 are not ahead, but far behind us.

It doesn’t matter if you think the system is good or is bad or just don’t care. from what I am seeing on the forums and in game map chats there are more players disgruntled with the new system than players who think it’s fine.

Obviously the top players who got to the top where they should be are happy about it. lets take an arbitrary number of about 10%

Players that are not as good are stuck somewhere in the middle unable to advance. being stuck at some level unable to advance be it because your team mates are bad or simply because you are not up to par to go forth, there is no progression in this case.
lets take an arbitrary number of about 20%

and then you have the rest of the population, who is just not good, at least not on par with the game difficulty. these people will never leave amber no matter how much they try. again no progression.
lets take an arbitrary number of about 70%

so now you have the elite 10% that will be having fun and progressing. then you have the middle class who does not progress anymore… some will work and move up eventually. others will just quit. and then you have the base that will slowly bleed players.

in the end all you have is your 10% +-5% from the middle playing pvp… the rest will move on. either quit pvp all together (lets be serious, they won’t go back to unranked) or simply quit the game.

either way you are alienating a big chunk of your paying customers… who will not pay anymore. your 10%-15% of your elite will have long queues and be matched against each other just on rotation. and eventually those will also move on… with such bad press from a huge chunk of the GW2 community people won’t want to PvP thus you wont be able to replenish your pool of pvp players…

TL:DR.
doesn’t matter if the system is good or bad. You depend on your playerbase. It is in your best interest to keep the majority happy and paying.

Leagues are not a reward track. Not everyone is entitled to progress.

Not everyone is complaining due to lack of progress. I personally am complaining due to lack of competitive matches. Even when I win, most times I’m not happy because the other team never had a chance. Sure, I like to progress, but there’s no point in playing most of these matches with the current matchmaking.

I’m sorry, it sounds like you want a reward track, not a competitive ladder. A competitive ladder means you have to earn your way up. A reward track plops out rewards just for playing.

I said nothing about a reward track. A competitive ladder has …well… competition. The majority of games being played are not competitive, they are complete blowouts where one team has no chance of winning. How is this competitive then? Are you going to tell people to wait for the divisions to balance out? How long should people wait? As the OP stated he is frustrated because of loss after loss in his division. And someone told him he’s where he belongs. What’s the point of even continuing to play now?

I understand your frustration, however some of us can’t believe since that’s all we do. Like you, I am fearful of the long term effect of this season. On the first day, all of my guild members were in the pvp lobby. These days I am seeing 1 or 2, which worry me. Idk how Anet thought it d be okay for pro to farm low mmr players.

I know right? And what do you tell the low mmr players? Keep your chin up and keep at it? Keep smashing your face against a broken system?

Yes, I would rather have this. I too saw stupid stuff in diamond rank last season, but this season there’s no point to even playing most matches.

Unhappy/Confused about Matchmaking

I’ll explain the lopsided games.

“Beginning with Season 2, matchmaking for Ranked matches will use your placement in your current league division as your primary matchmaking consideration and pair you against players who are placed in the same point range as you, regardless of the skill level (MMR) of the other people in that point range."

This is what they said how the season 2 MM system will work.

So actually to clarify something and please correct me if I’m misreading. The way the system currently works is it only considers MMR on your own team and not the full 10 players. So let’s say there’s 10 people queuing within an acceptable division range, 5 players are around 800 MMR and the other 5 are around 1000 MMR. Due to the fact that the system only considers making a team of 5 of similar MMR players at a time, the 5 800 MMR players will be put on one team and the 5 1000 MMR players will be on the other team. So what you get is high skilled players on 1 team and less skilled players on the other. Of course the result is the 800 MMR team getting stomped.

The result is you will never get a balanced team vs. balanced team like a team of 2 1500 MMR players + 3 800 MMR players vs. 2 1500 MMR players + 3 800 MMR players.

But with all said, I prefer the balanced team vs balanced team setup more.

The thing is eventually the teams will end up balanced. Or atleast so close it won’t matter. As different teams will progress at different rates. The 800mmr people SHOULD start fighting other 800mmr (or close) becuase they will be the only ones in range.

Eventually it will work out yes you are correct. As the 800 MMR people will be the only ones in the suitable division range so 800 MMR vs 800 MMR games will happen. The question is how long will that take though and if it takes too long is this system worth it as you’ll be playing lopsided games for a while. Another thing I’m wondering about is the decreasing player population amplifying this as well.

These are all good explanations (and questions) :]

So those that are happy with the new matchmaking because you’re winning so many games – are you happy with the pvp matches in general? Are they competitive and keeping you interested in pvp?

For those that are losing or not making progress – are you happy with the new matchmaking? How long do you plan on playing and how much effort are you planning on putting forth this season?

I really don’t think this matchmaking is good, but I see some insisting that it’s going to work “long term.”

1. The amount of bugs that came with HoT and the time it took to fix some of them.
2. The PvP meta
3. The PvP match making for people who solo queue
4. The new WvW borderlands
5. The ridiculous prices of guild hall upgrades, scribing, and other new things
6. The way raid content has divided me from many of my in-game friends. I personally like the raid content, but many of my friends did not for various reasons. I would like to have seen tiered raid difficulty with corresponding rewards.
7. Lack of “interesting” open world content with good replay value. Adding tons of collections does not keep my interest.
8. The lack of hope for the quality of future content. Much of what was introduced in HoT, in my opinion, changed the direction of GW2 for the worse. It digressed from the core content that I enjoyed. While I can’t speak for other people, I haven’t met many people that disagree with this view.

But you are well aware of the fact you can get matched with players that suck. You’re aware that people are queuing to tank their MMR. You’re well aware that the game studio doesn’t give two kittens about their PvP product, and yet you chose to queue for a ranked match. Why then would you queue at all if, despite your awareness of the situation, you know these things happen?

I know a lot of negative feedback has already been posted, but I’d like to share my negative experience. I lost 2 pips in ruby tier 2 when a member of our team left/dc’d and we were left 4v5 for most of the match.

At a very minimum this league system is discouraging and I’m not sure why it was implemented the way it was. Throw in the current balance issues and it’s really quite awful. Please revise this system.

No, this system wasn’t very well thought out at all. The idea of a tournament is great, I was really excited for it. Unfortunately it was horribly implemented.

Anything we can do besides useless reporting of team members for throwing matches? Just had two teammates throw a match to try and get their daily number of matches in. Seems there’s no end to the frustration encountered in this tournament.
