My only suggestion is to add a hotkey for mounts so that you can just press a key to mount/dismount, instead of having to click the little icon in the bottom right.

Adding to this, I’m hoping there will be four hotkeys so we can quickly mount a specific mount.

And also that using these keys will allow us to switch between mounts without dismounting/remounting. Just hoping.

You could keybind the mount/dismount button doing the preview, the default was set to x.
And underneath the normal mount/dismount keybind was an option to keybind mounting raptor specifically. Though the other mounts where not there as options doing the preview, my guess is we get the option to keybind for each mount.

Map is beautiful and nice to navigate, the music is amazing as always.
The mount(s) are simply the best implemented mount I’ve ever seen! Looks, controls and animations are amazing – it feels like a mount, not a skinned speedboost.
Enemies looks amazing and are fun to fight.
Did however miss some more (and bigger) events, it often took a long time to come along events as you rode around.

I have one major issue, and that’s with unidentified gear.
1) It feels really bad to pay more than 1.5s per item.
2) If I don’t pay that price, I miss out on potential rares/exotics
Solution: split unidentified gear into masterwork, rare, and exotic versions, giving blues/greens, rares, and exotic respectively. If needed, use this to add more dynamic identification prices.

^ can’t say it any better.

HoT vs PoF

I never played gw1 or gw2 at lunch. I started gw2 as a f2p player when hot was out after a month or so. I did level to 80 as a ranger and did all core maps and tought what a cool game it was and the expansion would make it better and so i bought it.
Hot maps felt grindy with the meta events but it felt like i was playing an mmo for the first time(better then world bosses wich i stoped doing soon after) and even rewarding. Everything i did in core maps seemed nothing but a level experience since i was alone most of times and hot maps with end fractals and raids where the only thing to keep me playing every day.
Then living world 3 story came out and bringed some maps where they killed meta events instead they add the daily hearts and this annoyed me much, but it was ok since i tought they where some filler and the expansion maps will bring back the metas like in hot. Instead the POF demo map is just a big empty map with nothing to do other then daily hearts and bountys chase. Like wtf, this expansion maps will be dead in months if they are like the living story maps. And this will happen only becuase they listen to people like you who can’t put a bit of effort in nothing and wants to play a mmo alone. So yeah i liked hot becuase of the replayability the metas offered and this expansion looks blank and kitten me that i preorder the expansion before i knew the details and kitten the people like you who made this expansion look like a gw1 copy instead of an improvement. Thx for bringing the unidentified kitten, only the worst companys implement this kind of system and thx for the simplicity and nothingness i will find in the new maps.

Gw2 doesn’t sound like a game for you, or maybe you need to find a guild to play with?
Or try out some of the other game types if you dislike the pve so much.

Personally I hated the time locked metas in HoT maps, no longer letting me play when I had time to, now I had to time it to the game. But each to their own.
I really like the way they are going with the Lws 3 maps and the PoF maps. Feels a lot more like what made me play gw2 to begin with.

Seen many who are annoyed by the amount of harder mobs, but personally find it nice to get a bit more challenge in story/open world.

Out of the Shadows NPC's do nothing

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: BattleRattle.5420

BattleRattle.5420

As I was redoing out of the shadows on an alt, I noticed that the NPC’s (Rytlock, Caithe, etc.) do nothing when in combat, though all works fine with dialog etc.
As soon as the combat starts they do not fight, do not get aggro, do not take damage, do not heal the player when downed (even if you literally lay inside of them, involuntarily ended up confirming it was not a matter of distance) and do not move.
At times even the White Mantle enemies do nothing as well. Only saw this doing Justiciar Adrienne as 3 of them stood around Rytlock and did nothing unless I actually ran into them.

However I did see a few irregularities. In ‘A shadows deeds’ Caithe at one point suddenly decided to attack a little, a few pistol rounds then went back to standing still.
In ‘Confessors stronghold’ doing the first couple of vet bloodstone elementals and Justiciar Adrienne Canarch was fighting properly, but at Jade Construct he too did nothing.

[Request] Change 'Leave Instance' Nodes

(Couldn’t find a threat with this, but if there is one, here comes another – and I apologize for the potential rant)

So I was doing Boss Mordy on an alt, bringing a friend, we are doing good and all is fine. Then we get to Mordy himself and as I am about to ground target this lovely node decides to ask me – for the fifth time on Mordy alone – if I want to leave… just as I press for the ground target, resulting in clicking yes…
So yes, now I have to start over, because the kitten node keeps interrupting… yay.

So shortly, why in the name of the Khan-Ur can’t we just have the nice little door instead of this annoying star that is placed in the middle of it all?
Or at least make it so it only asks once, then make a door symbol instead – like when asked to change maps.

I know this is HoT related, but also thinking about future instance design. If Ls3 will have instances in small areas like in this case, please for the love of fluffy tails and big ears, do place it a little more convenient.

Kralkatorrik mind blow

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

BattleRattle.5420

You can see bits of what might be Kralkatorrik in a GW1 map in the Blood Legion Homelands. It’s a huge spiked hill ridge likely to be the spine of the dragon:

Same regarding Jormag, you can see a frozen dragon in Drakkar Lake, in the Far Shiverpeaks that might be Jormag or one of its minions:

As one who never played gw1, ty for showing. Would be awesome it the last remaining elder dragons are actually that big. Now that’s proper dragon fight I wanna have!

New playable race - good or bad idea?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

BattleRattle.5420

For a long time there has been speculations about if we will ever get a new playable race, what it could be and so on. So purely out of curiosity I wanna hear what other people think of the idea of a new playable race?

Personally I am split, on one hand a new race could be awesome and could bring a lot of interesting lore, places, etc. to the game, and for those who like fashion wars and/or role play it can be an amazing thing.
On the other hand I think it would be difficult to implement a new race into the already existing ones, depending on how it’s done of cause, considering the personal story in particular.
Also if a new race is introduced, what about the already existing toons? Of cause the character slot limit is high (64?), but maybe you don’t want to delete the toons you already have (would be my problem), don’t have the time/money for more char slots, etc.

So to ask shortly: do you think introducing a new race would be a good or bad idea?

Necro negativity - do the devs care?

in Necromancer

Posted by: BattleRattle.5420

BattleRattle.5420

I started playing GW2 in the middle of season 2, and have from the start mained necro and still do. I love necro and utterly enjoy playing it, with Reaper only making me love it even more.

However from the beginning all I heard about necro is how it’s not good enough; this was nerfed, that need a buff, another profession can do all we offer better, we have no decent this and that, and so on.
I haven’t been on the necro forum for some time, but a quick look shows there’s still the whole ‘necro being weak’ going on. I looked at some of the other profession forums, and they seem to have way less negative posts about the given profession.

So what I want to ask/know is since the necro players who frequent the forum seemingly keep pointing out all the problems with necro, it still seems like the devs never really do anything to change or alleviate the problems in some way the players find useful.
It’s like they make a lot of changes, which never really address what the players want changed.
Of cause I might be completely wrong with that assumption, and if I am, I would really like to know why necros generally are still getting so negative views and still seems to be inferior to all(?) other professions in some way or another.

Thanks for reading.

As Danikat already said, gw2 is already solo-friendly, and guilds are by definition an association of people with a common goal. To make all guild stuff available to solo is just against all it is mean to be and I am fully against that.
That being said, if you really want to ‘solo’ a guild, while you will have to put in tons of work, time and gold, you can advance your guild by yourself already. For favor, most easy missions can easily be done solo, and also many of the others.

First off, this sounds suspiciously much alike to WoW.
Personally I don’t really have a problem with the dual part, but pvp and pve are very different in function. And you can just go into pvp or a guild arena if wanted.

The inspect player thing though, I personally like not to have. It can encourage a lot of problems with players demanding you to have specific gear and so on (many have explained this much better then I can on other threads).
Furthermore what if I don’t want you to know what gear I have? I might be fine with telling others if they ask, but I would not like for others to be able to just ‘inspect’ me without me knowing it (know it’s stupid, but that’s how I feel).
As a note, there is a site called gw2efficiency.com which allows you to share your information with others.

Charr – More subdued, practical styles. Like, seriously, enough with the enourmous spiked hairstyles that look like you got your head stuck in a light socket. Functional, pulled-back hair with simple metal or bone adornments. Maybe a pulled-back and braided mane for males. Maybe a hairstyle where the hair is wrapped around the horns to keep it out of the way, though that may be difficult to design considering the different horn styles. Maybe a style using feathers as adornments, since it would still fit the tribal style. Heck, maybe they could use something like devourer tails as adornments as well.

This. Enough said.

Only One Chapter?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: BattleRattle.5420

BattleRattle.5420

Playing devil’s advocate but I think the reason they are releasing season 3 slower this time is to dedicate more resources to the next expansion. Hopefully that means the next expac will be bigger and better than HoT, but we’ll see.

So basically, we have to buy more story, they ain’t giving it to us for free. The Living Story is more like Amazon letting you read a chapter in a book to see if you want to buy it.

It has already been explained, if you log in while the chapter is running, you get it for free, forever unlocked on your account – no matter what type of account you have (f2p or HoT), but it requires HoT to be played.

The only change i would want to Legendary weapons is to have them have some sort of surprise dialogue when interacting with certain NPC’s (Such as Moda The Quick giving you Kudos for bearing The Nevermore if you have that skin unlocked. or perhaps NPC’s in Rata Sum remarking on HOPE at random intervals. things that have some relevance to the NPC’s.) Obviously not all Legendaries will have this perk, but it would be a nice Cosmetic addition to give recognition for your achievement.

That is an awesome idea. What I wouldn’t give to have something like that, even if it’s only yourself who can hear / see it.

As most others, I agree they shouldn’t have a dmg boost. Legendaries have never been about better stats, it’s simply a QoL thing for those of us who care for that.
But to give them some non-combat special thing (as said by Heraldusluminare) could be awesome. Just some nifty little thing that just looks cool or let you show of how much time/gold you’ve wasted, not any advantage in combat.

New lines of weapons can have extra nifty functions like teleporting you to home cities or whatever, but it really shouldn’t allow players to be any more efficient than they are in combat.

New Font/Larger Nameplates

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: BattleRattle.5420

BattleRattle.5420

Hello

Could you maybe take into consideration to make a new ingame Font/Option to change it? I really, really dont like and it makes a good looking Game look ugly.

And also a option to change the Size of the Nameplates would be nice, its really hard to navigate when there are alot of Enemys on the Screen.

Thank you

Whatever or not you like it is a personal taste. There’s a lot of thought in what font they use when and how, and a change based on personal taste will most likely never happen.
To be able to change font’s however, well I don’t see the harm nor any problem in that, but as season 3 is about to begin I doubt it will be at the top of the to-do list in the near future.

Zhaitan – World Boss Event

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: BattleRattle.5420

BattleRattle.5420

If it were made an actual open world event, it wouldn’t differentiate much from the Mouth of Mord meta fight. You defeat him in story just as well as you had Zhaitan.

Just the meta boss fight for the core game is missing it’s boss fight. They could/should also look into adding the Marionette as a boss fight for Lornar’s Pass as a timer event. Many people liked that fight as well.

The Mouth of Modremoth is a manifestation of his hunger, not Modremoth himself, like Tequatl, it is still there after it’s maker is dead as it is a creature in it’s own right.
However, MoM event/boss was made to fit in the HoT story – meaning the current story at the time it came out. To add Zhaitan himself or suddenly add a a new minion of his is impossible since he cannot make anymore minions since he is dead and have been for a very long time – at least in pve, could be possible as a fractal.

Same goes for the Marionette, it would simply break the story / timeline. Scarlet is dead, so the one who made and controlled it is gone. That said, I started playing GW2 in the middle of season 2, so never tried it, and I would love to have a possibility to try it in some way, be it a fractal or some other way. Though that will most likely never happen.

This sounds really interesting and has some very interesting ideas for new fights. However I think that making it a fight against Zhaitan breaks the story way to much as he is already dead. Even if it was a minion of his, it would still brake story.

He’s not really dead if you are in any of the maps even after killing him. He’s really only dead in the instance where you kill him. I know that sounds crazy but that’s how it is lol. Time has stopped so to speak on all those maps to the point before he was dead. Go to Orr and the mobs will say random stuff about him. It’s the same for Mordy as well even after you kill him.

Heck I can go to Eir’s house and even speak to her when she is supposedly dead!

I agree a world boss fight for Zhiatan could be fun and finally put to rest people’s comment’s on how lame he was as a boss.

Though the maps are frozen in time, I believe it’s to give lvling players a feel of the world being alive. However, story-wise Zhaitan, Scarlet and Modremoth are now dead.
From the gw2 wiki (https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Tequatl_the_Sunless):
“_ArenaNet confirmed that “Tequatl’s evolution is an aftereffect of the death of Zhaitan. The magic used to create Tequatl is no longer being controlled by Zhaitan, but it still exists within Tequatl. Therefore, like many uncontrolled magics, it is experiencing an evolution and it is shaping itself.”_"

Zhaitan – World Boss Event

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

BattleRattle.5420

This sounds really interesting and has some very interesting ideas for new fights. However I think that making it a fight against Zhaitan breaks the story way to much as he is already dead. Even if it was a minion of his, it would still brake story.
That said making this a world boss fight for another dragon would be very interesting.

There are however a few things that caught my eye:

  • Defeating a Champion Assaulter will reward players with a bonus loot chest for the sub-event.
This could in worst case scenario encourage players to fail the pre-champ event on purpose for the loot. I think it would be better to give the extra reward chest if you successfully prevent the champ event to encourage people to try and prevent it.
  • Dead players can not return to the fight until they are rezzed by players that are out of combat. WvW rules of reviving should be used for this encounter.
This is pve content, not wvw, to suddenly change how the rules will most likely only be confusing especially for those who have never done wvw. Besides, it just doesn’t seem fitting to restrict rezzing as such, and could possibly only make it too hard or frustrating for what good is.
  • “Rewards are issued as ongoing loot similar to world vs world ticks. Contribution levels for a given airship are increased per tick based on that airships ability to land shots on Zhaitan."
Interesting idea, but to restrict it per ship – I read this as each ships players get loot depending on how their ship is doing – can be very dangerous depending on how groups are divided to the ships. I can easy imagine some groups raging about newer players failing so they get less rewards. I think all ships should add to a single progress bar, so even if you are on 5 loosing ships in a row, you don’t waste your time and get no loot.

I’m not all into builds and how they work as much as others, but I like how the current system is much easier and more simple to use. The old system and in parts what you suggest here can become really complicated, and maybe too complicated for some to get a hang on compared to the current one.

Personally I like it as it is now, easy to unlock and way more manageable then the old one. True I would at times like to be able to unlock the skills in the order I see fit, but it’s not really anything I mind as such.
However I do think it would be nice to have some more variation possibilities in the builds – and for the vanilla builds to be more usable as some are still really fun to play, though not as useful. Maybe something like a 4’th line – though I’m not into builds and how it works on the system and balance, so no clue if it would be a viable way to do it.

Really like your elite ideas, really interesting concepts. Have you ever made/thought of an e-spec that focuses on minons? (sorry for breaking topic)
What I first fell for in necros was the minions and the thought of having this little unstoppable army, and I would absolutely love an e-spec that give the minions some more love – and maybe some new minions like the Aatxe (they look so freaking awesome), and if you have/will make one I would love to read it.
