The fact you need 50 for an ascended back piece and 250 to infuse it on top of it isn’t a stranger to that.
It’s only 50 if you are too lazy to farm the 1850 fractal tokens to make one.
You either grind or you spend your hard earned grinding money from Cursed Shore.
…and people will leave for another, non P2W, game.
So GW2 is now P2W? o.O
Are the items equipped? >.>
Troll is a troll.
^Pretty much this.
I am doing Fractals and I do roughly 2 per day. I have 700 tokens now. A few more days and I will have a back piece.
Maybe wave them in front of the rest of us who haven’t even got one to drop yet?
I apologise that my awesomeness got in the way.
That is rather unfortunate. What am I supposed to do with these two rings, I will never use? :\
Would something happen? I have up to 2 rings and I am willing to try but it will take a few more days of grinding.
Has anyone tired it?
Same thing happened to me.
“Incorrect Password” came up during the final stage after spending 2 hours and got kicked out of my overflow map.
I seriously hope this does NOT mean they have allowed x days between authentication from the same location.
I do NOT want that, and ArenaNet, if you’ve done this (or are thinking about it) – please make it an OPTION.
I want to be prompted for mobile authentication every time I logon, so I can see that it is activated and working, and I will be alerted if it is not. I want to know that even if account thieves somehow manage to bypass all my security, and are remote controlling my PC (or even physically sitting at my PC) – they still cannot access my account without my USB key.
^This.
I care far too much for the security of my account. Taking the extra 5 seconds to input the code ensures maximum security.
It isn’t a PVP only game but once you hit 1k hours worth of game play, you run out of things to do.
If it takes 1000 hours of game play to run out of things to do, that’s a good thing.
(Assuming you try to get your legendaries).
It took me ~200 hours to hit fully exotic’ed (2 sets) on my thief.
It isn’t a PVP only game but once you hit 1k hours worth of game play, you run out of things to do.
You can call it whatever you want.
sPVP & WvW are very good.
If you are the kind of person who likes Open World ganking… o.O
I doubt it would work in GW2.
If you don’t like PVP, this isn’t the game for you.
@Hippo,
Because it allows people to fight for a sale.
Placing a bid below the item’s vendor price should not be possible I still see many items with them like that. It needs to be fixed.
Only happens with melee attacks.
When I switch to Short Bow, I don’t have a problem.
That was a great read OP, thanks for bringing that to my attention. Definitely a depressing thing, almost makes you wish they went p2p and added more of what the game lacks.
What does P2P have to do with anything?
Only reason why I am commenting in here is to point out that inflation is not controlled by the botters.
The only game I have played in my entire life where players are willing to sell items for less then vendor price on the Auction House.
Items like Dawn and other pre-legendary exotics will always cost a large amount because it is a gamble to get it.
Considering that some people have burned over 400g trying to get them … random is random.
You can only do so much with gold. It comes to the point that the usefulness of gold is limited to what you can do with it.
You do not need the Auction House or Gold to play this game. (Well, it helps with the teleporting)
But I have geared my Thief with 2 sets of Exotics gear & weapons & accessories included without buying any materials or items. I farmed everything, it only took a few weeks.
On Topic: I hope A-Net take a serious approach to destroying hackers. Bots will always be there no matter what they do. They need to fix the teleport hack/speed hack asap.
I have done every single story for my Thief (Whisper’s Guild). Not once did I need to ask help from anyone.
Some of them were tough but they were never impossible.
Condition-based builds are not bad for PVP.
Every build in PVP has a counter.
Condition builds are based on maximising the damage you can deal to a group of people based on how well you can survive. Even if the person can remove conditions, they all have cooldowns.
In long-lasting fights, it is very hard to not get conditions.
I have tried it with Necro & a Thief and a Mesmer. Condition-based builds are fun and can be extremely painful to fight.
On a Thief, it is very easy to kill a person when you can get ~15 bleeds on a person in 3 seconds.
Working perfectly after GW2 was added to the authenticator.
Good job guys. Really appreciate the effort going into adding extra security onto this.
It does.
I sometimes keep my Oric ore in there so I know how many I collected in a zone(s).
To be honest, I would rather they use Google Authenticator then to waste their time and resources attempting to make one for themselves.
At this way, near everyone has access to it. They reduce costs and just have to fix a few things.
If you can’t understand that glass cannon builds have like 11k hp and only do that dmg to OTHER glass cannons.. Then i’d say you are out of wack
I have 17k HP and I can do ~25k with a single pistol whip, I have seen warriors and guardians say that who are spec’d to tank.
It isn’t because of Pistol Whip I am doing this damage. It’s because I know how to get Might stacks. (Or plan out how I can get as many as possible before a fight)
Should’ve read this thread before scanning the code into my already installed Google authenticator
I already had 3 Google accounts setup in it, one of them being the email adres that my GW2 account is registered with.
This email address got overwritten with the GW2 QR codes so isn’t working anymore on Google but the other 2 accounts still work.
So I agree that a “GW2” prefix to the account entry in Google authenticator would be great.
Other than that I’m very happy you chose to use Google authenticator, I already have in total 4 different authenticator android apps installed for other games so adding it to an existing one is helping reduce clutter.
^This.
This needs to be fixed ASAP.
For security purposes everything should be unique and I am surprised this hasn’t been thought of. This places my account at risk.
I would very much like to see an Open World PVP.
WvW would be disabled on this server and I like the idea of having 2 – 3 servers on “one server” fighting each other by waypoints, raid bosses, instances.
(It takes forever for a single person to reach 10k badges).
I wouldn’t mind if we donated … ~100 badges each.
The cost of two sets of gear (MF & Berserker sets) cost me a total of 11s when one set is broken and the other set is damaged.
I have never exceeded 11s in repair costs. (/2 = 5.5s per set)
If you cannot get 5.5s after dying ~10 times. You need to start playing with other players.
I am sure limitations can be placed on players who want to revoke their vote.
I was thinking of something a long the lines of transferring your vote.
It’s an option you can purchase that costs 1g. You have to purchase it to vote for a commander and you cannot get a refund on that gold. However, you do get your vote refunded and allow you to vote for another commander. At least this way … having commander can be taken a bit more seriously.
In the two servers I have played on for WvW, I have noticed that the commander title provides far too much power to players who do not deserve it. (I understand that it is not my place to judge the worthiness of a player or of their efforts into getting that title legitimately.)
When I first saw the commander title, I expected it to be some sort of petition-based title in which players voted for that person to lead them. A person who would follow the important strategic requirements to ensure your server has the best possible chance at enjoying WvW.
I was disappointed to find out that there were no prerequisites (apart from the 100gold) to obtain the title and that anyone who wanted an ego boost (rather then people who genuinely wanted to lead their server into maximum enjoyment).
I am not saying that only the best can be commanders.
My suggestion is the following:
Allow for a petition-based commander system (removing the current system and refunding 100g to everyone who was one).
How? You might ask? The way that struck my mind after someone brought it up in Map chat.
Allow 100 people to choose one commander and pay 1g each. A single player can only have 1 commander (no more). So in order for your server to have another one, you will need another 100 players who will be willing to accept you as their commander and donate 1g each.
Can a person change their mind about their commander? Yes! They can, you just revoke your vote and the commander loses his title. A commander must always have 100 players “vouching” for him otherwise he loses it.
What happens when a player moves to another server? (Or the Commander moves to another server?)
The commander loses his title (and the players get their 1g back).
A few of you might want to ask a few questions, such as, why do I think that this idea is better then the current system? Well, for one it’s important for the community (mini-server-based communities) have someone they trust and respect as their leader. This allows people to ensure that when you have that wonderful blue crown on the map. They are doing their BEST to satisfy the server they are on.
I do not see any real negatives towards this idea. As this game rotates around the PvP environment, it is safe to say that if we want to ensure everyone is happy. They need to should have the choice.
Goat.
The same thing applies to most stealth based builds….if – as a thief – I can draw 4-6 people away trying to chase me down (which has happened numerous times in WvWvW) instead of playing the objective, I’ve just created a pretty good advantage for my side.
^This.
There are many instances in which I can push a group back a good portion by forcing the front of the enemy to follow me closer to their gate.
And just shadow stepping back.
People keep forgetting that a lot of our skills are melee-based. We have to be close to hurt people (the most). Even with PP it isn’t easy to hurt a group and get smashed by long-range-casters/rangers.
A thief has the ability to scare the group into thinking they will die if they do not attack him.
Skritt or Quaggan please.
Quaggan.
The skill point is also bugged on my server.

Am I the only one who has yet to hit the DR range?
As someone who jumps from zone to zone farming dragons and events and gathering as much as possible. I have yet to hit the DR Karma or drop rate range.
I have followed the zerg in SoD several times and I didn’t even hit the DR range.
Am I missing something?
From what I have read,
Yes, there is an ignore terrain hack. (No Clip like in Quake etc.)
I thought you could purchase more from the Item Shop?
Maybe it’s just you.
When I ran Story Mode when I first got the mail, I was doing reasonably okay. Nobody in our team was above 55.
Calavera,
I am going to say that isn’t entirely easy. Especially since if your prices are too high, it takes one person to undercut you to make you lose a lot of money.
If you are the sole person who makes such an item, you can make some good money. Otherwise the 1g – 1.5g grinds from Dynamic Events & Mobs is pretty much good enough to get you far.
Well grinding, I get roughly 1g – 1.5g per hour. (Excluding Globs & 400 mats)
Guild Wars 2 is far from being a slayer of any genre.
People who enjoy it will play it.
I personally play it because of the PVP. The PVE is a grind. (Just like any other MMO)
P.S. Diablo 3 is a perfectly good dungeon crawler.
Nvidia 660 ti, intel i5 2320 3 ghz, I think I should be getting better performance

I have a 660TI and I am not experiencing any issues.
Have you tried updating to the latest Nvidia drivers? If I remember right, there was a recent important update for 6XX series.
2nd time today this has happened. It happened while I was zerging through Claw of Jormag. (ASUS Maximus V Formula Mobo (which has Creative sound on it)).
There is some UI scaling already in and you can move your mini map around (as well as resize). It isn’t a load of customization but it is there.
Yes but it doesn’t make things small enough.
(It also breaks the Auction House’s text when set on Small)
There was a massive thread about it about 10 days ago, one of the Anet team posted tto the above effect.
Link? I would like to read that thread.
I am rather disappointed that we are being forced to play the game in a single way. I personally enjoy a very slim and clean UI, where I cannot see anything except for my mini-map.
It would be nice if UI scaling could be implemented at least.
Yes, now onto my second point, where did an ANet official/gm state this?
I am not talking about an application that runs outside of the game client.
I.E. Runes of Magic’s add-ons or World of Warcraft’s add-ons. (Which run within the game client and have access to a set of commands, functions or the API allowed by the game developers)
Please try not to confuse bots with Add-ons, I am talking about allowing the ability to change the UI or customisability of the map, in-game timers etc.
And where did ANet say this?
You misunderstood.
I was talking about ANet implementing an Add-on API and supporting the development of Add-ons.
Have there been any news concerning ANet implementing some sort of add-on support(like many other games) to Guild Wars 2?
