I’m hoping the design team will do what they did for humans to every other race; which is release 6 detailed faces that aren’t re-skins & silly anime hair but actually something that would fit the charr lore as far as fashion goes (which isn’t much of what we’d call fashion) 4-6 detailed completely new charr faces, horns and hairstyles. But each cosmetic makeover update is dedicated to 1 specific race. Like the next cosmetic makeover is charr, then after that it’s sylvari then asura then norn for example. Why? So they can focus better on giving us things we want as far as makeover go. I prefer that Instead of getting 3 faces and hairs for everyone at once that are “okay” that don’t fit the aesthetic of that race at all.

TL;DR – each cosmetic/ makeover update focuses on one race at a time to achieve more detailed faces & hairstyles in a larger quantity.

No, not even a little bit.

In what way has anet ignored the casuals? GW2 is by far one of the most casual friendly mmos out there. You can still do events in HoT, people will always be doing things in HoT. They will always be doing things in the Silverwastes. And guess what? They’re best completed in groups so not only is your hand held the entire time but you DO NOT have to grind! When players say HoT is not casual friendly it reminds me of someone who wants everything handed to them on a cash shop silver platter.

Is it bc casuals can’t press 1 to kill everything? I don’t get it. I considered myself a casual player & I don’t mind sticking it out for things I want.

These events are not going away, if you want prestigious gear then you have to work for it but it’s not even hard to get. You can get the ingredients to an entire ascended set in a day, minus the laurels… and that doesn’t even include pvp which is kitten due to casuals just wanting ascended gear bc anet made rewards incredibly easy to get. In practically everything in this game your hand is held. You don’t need to farm 1000 lynxs to get that 1 specific rare tanned hide. You don’t need to chop down 100000 trees to make 1 piece of armor. You don’t have to worry about low chance spawn rates of things appearing bc of kill stealing. About 90% of everything you can just buy from the TP. You don’t have to do raids! And if you want to, there is an LFG option about raids where you can input you’re a casual/ new to raids & other players can pick you up! Raids are practically the go to in this game since anet has forgotten dungeons altogether & ignored underwater exploration because it wasn’t “casual friendly”
How did anet forget the casuals?

I love the new human set of hairstyles & faces. Love, love love.
I’m okay with not having updates with the rest because I know they’ll come.

I also have a suggestion anet – Every hair/face update do 1 race at a time so there is more detail, thought & time that goes into that cosmetic & could potentially offer more options like this new update has, instead of the usual 3 faces = 3 hairstyles.

Eh, it’s not as detailed as her armor set. You can’t tell if the parts of her outfit are supposed to be feathers or fondant or…. petrified flames. It does dye pretty though, for the lack of detail it has. Every new outfit feels cheaper & cheaper in detail/ animation. Except for the recent release.

Are we playing the same game? Or have you never played Asura? Like, right out of the gate you are dealing with AI rebellion. Also we have tanks, airships and huge laser cannons to shoot dragons with.

Outfit is perfectly in line with asura aesthetics. Discussion on “lameness” of recent designs is a bit different topic, but I can easily recall people crying about clipping issues, trench coats and buttcapes, so there’s your answer why some of them are made stiff.

I meant more racially practical outfits, like the wedding attire how they’re diverse but practical to their race.

With the todays outfit release, I feel there is nothing I want cosmetically out of the gemstore except for the earliest outfits; pirate outfit being one that I own. It’s cute & practical.
Aesthetically, GW2 is leaning further away from it’s original identity it feels like to me.
From a semi-Edwardian/ Medieval fantasy clash to now a sci-fi tech savy feel that doesn’t really seem right. It could fit well, but doesn’t & it for me atleast, starts at the outfits & weapons. So yes, it’s all about cosmetics in this post.

The new outfits from Balthazar & up to now, feel cheap & tacky & as if they belong in Wildstar or some other MMO that’s sci-fi related. The details seem lackluster because the focus is on how shiny things are now. (Did I mention how stiff the outfits are? they barely move is there is any length to it, much like the newer hairstyles)

Basically, more outfits like the wedding attire that are race based &re practical to gw2’s races individually.

TL-DR, designers seem out of touch with GW2 aesthetic. More practical/ racial outfits, no more cheaply sci-fi tech ones.

I would like more armor sets that are race based. I also would like better outfits. No more “fantastical” outfits. They look cheap & make no sense.
I’d love more steampunk outfits; bustles, stockings, cropped jackets, corsets & fancy mens wear.
I hate the way the design team animates glowing objects. It has a weird lighting & is stiff. Am I wearing cardboard or silk? Sorry anet, I can’t tell with over half of your outfits.

I’d like an outfit/armor design contest. I’ve always been more… practical when it came to playing classes like a mage, rouge or warrior. I don’t wear skimpy armor for a battle mage, it makes no sense to me. A Mesmer maybe, they come off enchantress type as do necromancers. Warriors shouldn’t be showing skin imo but to each their own. I’d pay for more practical styled outfits.
I feel like with a contest we could atleast vote & maybe anetwould see “hey, we’d make more with more practical wear vs designing a rainbow donkey mask.”

What OP said x10000. But I don’t think race should affect builds. It should feel more personal pve wise. It would bolster the RP community a lot.
It felt more personal in Gw1 when you met the norn for the 1st time. It sucks that your faith/school/life quotes have nothing to do with anything whatsoever. Why pick what god blessed you? It doesn’t affect a thing. Why pick your motto as a sylvari? It has no meaning since it doesn’t even tie into anything except that you’re a sylvari.
Like picking spirit of the raven over the others as a norn. You’d think it meant something but it doesn’t & that’s why I don’t play norn, there is nothing exceptional about them.
Charr have the best of both worlds, you pick your companion & your legion & both make a difference.
GW2 has certainly lost all aesthetics it once had that made it unique in the beginning.

So we’ve gotten another addition to the silly hat collection. I’m talking about the aurene hat. Would you buy it if you haven’t? Do you like items like these?

I don’t, I feel they take away from the aesthetic of the game. that’s just me though.
I feel if they’re going to release hats, I’d pay for musketeer type items/helms/ hoods with hairstyles. Outfits that aren’t some robotic freak of nature.

You’re exactly right, I don’t report people for most trash talking since I’ve caught myself doing it. It’s just the toxicity has made pvp not worth attempting anymore.

Guild wars 2 has lost that aesthetic for me. I could get behind the aspect of guild wars 2 at 1st. It was like a gw1 renaissance & I had tons of freedom. I loved the Edwardian fantasy theme But with heart of thorns & everything with it- it’s the same bones but a new, ugly face. I get on for a few hours to pvp then get off.

I pvp more than anything; with anything competitive you will have your buckets of salty players & know-it-alls. I just did a match where someone from the enemy team bullied my team into submission. What do I mean? Telling them to not even leave the gate, just to stay inside that if my team left, they would purposely make it difficult. I just shrugged, I’ve dealt with players like this & won. The enemy team destroyed us, then one of the players admitted to boosting their friend (one of the players was high platinum most likely or higher) & we were gold.
Then there was a point that I was chased non-stop by 4 players & called many colorful names from my team and theirs. They had 2 stunlock warriors (hammer/ shield) 2 engis and 1 guard. We had a necro, ranger, 2 guards and an Ele.
This was ranked, high gold tier for me and my friend. Then my team stopped leaving the gate except me & the ele (this was at 250+ point we were 100ish) my team gave up.
I’m not a great pvper but I try. My team trash talked our ele bc she couldn’t carry, reported me & her bc we were on a team together & “purposely fed & match manipulated”
Honestly, I’ve had it with the pvp community. Some of you are amazing & great.
Pvp is the only thing I enjoyed in a competitive spirit but it’s a joke now. Ive gotten death threats, kitten threats, hacking threats; players telling me my isp & they’re going to find me (I just shrugged it off & reported knowing nothing would be done bc it was once in awhile) but what the hell is wrong with half of this community? I’ve contemplated uninstalling & moving on which is easy. I just wanted to vent! Thanks for listening

canach is the only GW2 npc left that I like, other than caithe. Taimi, Rox & a few others that aren’t human sounds like they ARE their character. Not like they’re reading from a script like braham or Eir. Not to mention the human & norn character voices that sounds like they reluctantly are reading from a script like “Oh, so 1 more take? groan. fine”

why is she barefoot & have the most basic look but a fancy dress?

I like the dancing on podiums. I feel like they weren’t trying to fix anything, it’s to add an odd and more competitive aesthetic to the winner circle of pvp. That’s just me though.

I’ve tried it, I want to like it but it’s as you say. It’s a bruiser build. IMO it’s not a step to the direction those of us who want ele diversity in pvp. It’s great if you want to mess around but you need a communicative team for this to work as intended.

I want 2 things for male toons- codpieces and skimpy armor. Unless they tuck, there’d be something and not just board flat. I’m a female player and I want this. I don’t dress my toons in skimpy armor just because I don’t. I try to put a little piece of me to each of my chars and all are female. The only one who shows the most skin is my ele; she wears the gw1 necro top from the gem store. So there’s abit of chest and cleavage.

The outfits we have been getting are ugly and stiff. They lack the quality of the outfits released within the 1st 2/3 years (before the wedding attire & dresses or Balthazar outfit were released, we had outfits you could mix and match)

I’d also love more renaissance styles outfits. No more futuristic sci-fi. I’d even take a Victorian theme for the next year.

I actually like the llamas just because I was obsessed with mini pets in gw1 & still am in gw2, although they hold not the same vanity as gw1 did.

Do I pvp for the llamas? Absolutely not.
Do I appreciate them as a final reward? No.
Do I think they should even be offered as a reward? Sure, but not as incentive to PvP ranked

I had someone trash talking, well several people; trash talking everyone who was gold & below. Mind you, I trolled in my placements as a P/P thief & I AFK’d alot so I got placed in low silver. I have since worked my way to gold (almost mid) And the rants did bother me some, Not everyone who is in gold is a PvE scrub. No, I’m not the best @ pvp but I do play for the competitive spirit. Do I wish I was better? Absolutely!

I don’t think there really should be rewards in PvP that are PvE based.

There should be PvP only rewards & WvW only rewards & PvE Only rewards that are prestigious & you know that player spent hundreds/thousands of hours @ that gamemode. I know we have things like this already, but it’s all jumbled.

i main ele, get my butt handed to me bc none of my teammates focus targets, they cant dodge of out aoe and hit like feathers. So its been a great run so far
at this point im trolling with a p/p thief and still losing matches, but getting top stats each time, i just want ascneded tickets, its not about the pretty medal anymore.

Solo Queueing as ele isn’t optimal because you can’t actively communicate when you use your skills in certain situations, I.e. using earth 5 to stomp when a mesmers got it, spraying out heals but your necros in shroud, or rev/thief tping around. Ele performs better in a coordinated duo, or premade team in unranked. You do barely any damage and your sustain got hammered, in 1v1s you are cooked or stalemate. Your only role is support and utility.

I am an ele main and still believe its viable, although not alone in a soloQ This season I am duoing with an excellent condi necro, and in coms together we coordinate things really well and win almost every fight. Placed somewhere in high platinum. You need a trustworthy team or partner to make it work, otherwise queue as a engi, ranger, mesmer or thief in soloQ.

Also on the subject of your 10 games, some timezones work better than others, and you can avoid good players who keep ending up on the opposite team and kicking your ass by waiting for them to go in a match. If you’re having a bad time like 3 losses in a row, just stop and have a break, and come back later.

The placement isn’t impossible to escape, you can slowly climb up from wherever it puts you if the game’s MMR thinks you deserve it.

Yeah :/ I worked my way into mid gold actually but now am on a losing streak, my partner had played her guard which she’s phenomenal at but then decided to switch to her mesmer which she’s out of practice with so I’ve lost 16 games in a row (some without her) & I’m down back to silver. I’ve honestly given up- I’ve taken 5-15 minute breaks and even a few hour breaks and I still lose. I don’t know who I’ve kittened off but it was someone.

Hello! My skill rating gain after matches goes from 20 & has dropped down to 10 @ some instances; what is it that I’m not doing? I stomp, res, cap, get buffs, heal (im an ele) but sometimes when I play her, I’ll get 15 SR or 10 SR.

What if non of the actually skilled players, are even playing GW2’s Ranked leagues now?

Would that not mean that, the player base that is currently for the most part. Are bad players who can not or will not figure out how to PvP, or just players afking their matches for rewards, or gold from someone else.

There is seriously a lot of glaring issues with GW2’s Ranked PvP atm. That just chases away, a lot of actually good legit no cheating PvPers from this game. Aside from the balance issues.

I am no different of course, I’d really like more sexy dresses for my male asura main character. Since you know tiers are doing what they are designed to do keep players as segregated as possible.

matchmaking is a joke this season. Not sure what changes Anet made, but seriously laughable. I was in gold and got teammates who were obviously in bronze, didn’t know rotations, or their class.

Offering these rewards in unranked is lowering the requirements of having to gain ranks to get rewards, it is like saying “oh you can get legendary armor by playing an easy mode” and frankly I don’t see how people will be more motivated to win in unranked….other than that it also is pretty unfair because in unranked, players can put up a full 5 man party against pure randoms. You can twist it all around but that doesn’t change the fact that you are asking to get top tier rewards in an easy way for a game mode that doesn’t require tiers of gear in the first place.

mainly because some of us want to climb the tier ladder? unranked isn’t normally taken as seriously. I personally think ascended should be taken out entirely. That’s just me though.

Any other ele puts your team at a disadvantage. If you play non-support ele, switch to any build that is appropriate for the meta.

If you’re losing matches with p/p thief, it’s because you’re playing a garbage p/p thief. Switch to something better.

The thing is, I’ve mained ele since launch. Ele was my baby, I don’t know what I’m doing wrong anymore.

Hi! I’m new to PvP and just did my first ranked placement with an ele (d/d, W/E/T, non-auramancer). I won 6/10 of my placement matches and was placed into gold 1. I’m not sure how good/bad that is, but I’m hearing that’s pretty average? I guess I can’t complain about that for a first attempt.

Just a thought. If you can’t rely on your team, maybe you’d be better off playing something off-meta with better personal survival and a bit of offense to apply some pressure yourself without having to rely on teammates as much?

Auras are great team support and healing, but if you’re just by yourself in outnumbered fights because your teammates can’t stay alive even with support, why not drop some auras and beef up your defenses with more selfish utilities? You could perhaps make it easier on your team if you’re able to tie up 2 or more enemy players for a time without dying. It works for me…sometimes!

He’s not claiming you don’t know ele, I had to do the same thing on my Druid/ranger, my team was so busy eating paint chips I ended up switching to an extremely selfish bunker build, walking onto far or mid and just pulling as many people from the enemy team as possible and trying to weather the storm to turn the rest of the game into a 4v3 or lower in the hopes the idiots I was pared with could figure it out when they’ve got an advantage.

I actually switched to a d/d condi-ish ele & i love it. I have much better results but my teams are squirreling jerks who won’t cap. That’s what makes me lose. Support tempest will get out CCd, support tempest will get out anythng if your team is incompetent.

I am all for you playing your own build, I even play vanilla d/d & it does wonders compared to brainmushed tempest. I’ve played ele since launch & have seen the ups and downs. Anet can’t decide what to do with ele, so they keep punching healbot into a corner.

I am playing my warrior in this season, if there is an ele on our team I usually request they stick with me whether they’re damage or support- my concern is keeping us both alive. It’s only because I know how it feels to be THAT ele.

I had a match earlier the person kept spamming to me “KYS/ kill yourself/ go kittening die” and all other colorful words. I do NOT take this sort of toxicity lightly & always file a ticket.

I have lost a multitude of ranked games this season, things I’ve experienced so far:
People who have map chat/team chat turned off
AFKs
My team zerging, then complaining that the 1 person isn’t capping
1 or 2 people telling everyone not to worry about home, and the team listens
Not targeting
Did I mention AFKs?
Throwers – admitting to throwing
Players admitting to not having a clue, they just want the ascended tickets.
It makes me so toxic & hate your pvp.

So, please anet. Allow ascended rewards in unranked as well.

I was low platinum last season, I had started silver & worked my way up
This season I ranked low gold with a thief for placings; Now that I play to win, it’s loss after loss & I’m now mid silver. It’s not about the rewards, I Play for competition.
& my sr keeps jumping from 1000 to 1500. It’s currently 1099.

I’ve never really been excited for any of the new outfits, I haven’t even purchased them since they look “off” I’ve seen alot of requests for a bathing suit outfit, specifically a racial diverse outfit (Which I’d buy more of, racial diverse outfits)
With it being summer, bathing suits would fit the season.

Below, I have a screen of kasmeer in her bathing suit, I love her little sandals! Noone has time for that foot fungus. Some outfit ideas along with bathing suits could be mermaid themed? Seashell top, kelp skirt with ankle and wrist cuffs that have attached fins?

Support ele is still very strong. If you play support ele and can’t win matches, try something easier.

Any other ele puts your team at a disadvantage. If you play non-support ele, switch to any build that is appropriate for the meta.

If you’re losing matches with p/p thief, it’s because you’re playing a garbage p/p thief. Switch to something better.

The thing is, I’ve mained ele since launch. Ele was my baby, I don’t know what I’m doing wrong anymore.

like ppl told me you are probably bad ele. if you cant heal your team or support them its your fault. kidding

i also play support rev and lost due to afk, ppl not playing hard or playing lik its hotjoin AA not dodging not reading chat, not doing any rotation and moving 4 ppl to mid.

it force you to play something else.

i change to support ele and i got better result

i started to play with friend and i started to win cause the random effect got smaller.

i decided to just enjoy it and try my best. that’s all you can do.

You’re exactly right, I’ve played ele since the 1st day of gw2 (i didnt play it much in gw1) So, I’ve seen the good bad & ugly with ele. I was one of the top eles in my server at one point & would train other eles for pvp & wvw (i came from devonas rest so being the best doesnt mean much tbh) I’m probably out of practice but I also pug alot in spvp so any team based fights where I try to help crashes and burns half of the time.

i main ele, get my butt handed to me bc none of my teammates focus targets, they cant dodge of out aoe and hit like feathers. So its been a great run so far
at this point im trolling with a p/p thief and still losing matches, but getting top stats each time, i just want ascneded tickets, its not about the pretty medal anymore.

I play support ele. I don’t feel like a healbot.

I get lots of dead rangers. When i fight against rangers i keep my reflects up like 80%. Lot’s of suicidal rangers.

I also focus on cleaning up the stomps after a necro downs 3 people at once. It’s rewarding because i know i helped keep him alive. His DPS is my DPS.

I also hold the point. If i’m fighting a thief or mesmer, i can actually Cap the point without even killing them. I wait till they wander off point, then use a knockdown or or immob to keep them off point.

But my favorite thing is jumping into the middle of a team fight in progress and filling up my screen with green numbers.

I can understand that, I guess I’ve played ele so long healbot feels like brain mush

Me too, but it’s not my first time. I have been playing condi ele for more than 2 years and I’m currently in Platinum. I will never play such a boring meta build that focuses only on healing. That is not what the ele was designed to do.

Where is the build diversity we were promised?

I certainly feel that way. There is no real build diversity. If you play dps you need a healing babysitter, if you play support you need a team with enough sustain and damage to even help.

I’ve been experimenting with a condi build for ele, it’s more fun than healbot but I’m still tweaking, what sigils do you use for weapons?

My guild has won 15vs 30+ groups bc we know they’re unskilled pvers. Eventually they give up & stay out of the bl which is meh bc we like bag farming.

My tip if you plan on sticking to wvw because you enjoy it over pve? Join teamspeak & a guild recruiting for wvw (they usually have builds designed for their raids) use food & invest in ascended gear for wvw infusions.
