Well I came back to GW2 and bought the PoF expansion because it looks like it might be fun to play with the new elite specializations. When I last played regularly everyone had the first raid wing on farm status, and The Eternal title was being sold for as little as five gold. Anyways, I started doing Season 3 in order to unlock the new maps and I gotta say, why isn’t there a way to skip the protracted dialog. I’m bored to tears at the way the dialog is presented. It’s like the writers are punishing me for not really caring about plot or characters. What happened to being able to skip the stupid story scenes and just play the game.

This issue may only be reproducible under certain other factors. I’m definitely seeing this issue when the Sigil of Malice is slotted on an ascended Viper’s scepter. However, I have a warrior with an ascended mace where the duration of the mace offhand vulnerability is working as expected. Could this mean that Sigil of Malice is only bugged on weapons with the new expertise stat?

[Solved] Superior Sigil of Malice issue

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Cheby Shev.4671

Cheby Shev.4671

Superior Sigil of Malice does nothing. It should give 10% condition duration.

You can reproduce this issue by taking a naked level 80 necromancer (without the Curses traits) into a level 80 zone like northern Frostgorge Sound and use the Blood is Power utility skill on a random Dolyak. The base duration of the skill is 30s, and with the expected 10% duration increase from Sigil of Malice, the skill should apply a 33s bleed, which is easy to check against the base duration.

Please fix, these sigils are very expensive and cannot be replaced without wasting a lot of gold.

Aquatic Ruins Dolphins Make AR = 0

My necromancer ran into this bug a couple nights ago on Fractal 61 Aquatic Ruins (Dark Path). He currently has 115 AR underwater (136 on land). All the AR infusions are the new +7 purchased from the new vendor along with crafted +10/+11 infusions. I did not have a consumable agony infusion. The trinkets alone have 94 AR, more than enough, so it wasn’t armor damage (armor wasn’t broken anyways). I was the second to last party member alive, the boss was almost dead (less than 20%), when I got hit with 19k agony damage in a one shot immediate death that bypassed downed state. While dead, I pointed out to the party that my UI showed zero AR, and they suggested this was because we were dead (it was not). The last player died and after we revived I bailed, the party wanted to continue, and "just use ranged attacks", but I’ve already completed 61 for the achievement. I don’t recall having a problem before, so I don’t know if this bug was just introduced, or what. My necromancer hopes they physically beat and torture the developer(s) who broke this fractal---there’s just not enough developer abuse these days, and all these bugs are a clear sign that more whippings and mutilations are needed.

Have you tried headshot lately? Get yourself tied up to one of those Chak Bracers and see how frustrating that little 0.25s daze is against their defiance bar.

It’s really ironic when you think about it, but what I learned from playing Warrior was how to swap weapons and utilities for every encounter.

From the individual perspective Mallyx/Shiro underwater isn’t any worse than Glint/Shiro. However, you won’t be buffing your party so much. I’d recommend at least one change to your traits. Assuming you have the Devastation/Invocation/Herald lines, underwater is a good time to take Fierce Infusion to generate a little extra fury from activating your heal skills. I swap legends on cool down just like with Glint/Shiro, but instead of activating facets, just pop the elite Embrace the Darkness to get a 10% boost to all your stats. Finally, put a strength sigil on your spear to help with might stacks. As for swapping weapons and weapon swapping sigils, not even going to bother, I’ve just got the one ascended spear and unless the drop rate on ascended weapon chests drastically increases, there’s simply no budget for any more ascended spears.

Lately, while doing the fractal progression, I’ve started running sword offhand. I really like having a cheap readily available block. I prefer sword block to shield block because it’s got a much lower CD (now only 12s), costs half as much energy (10), and doesn’t root you in the wrong place. I’m finding that saving dodge rolls with sword block has good synergy with several of the fractal instabilities too. Sword block can help keep you out of combat when running past trash mobs. I’m aware that the shield block has a nice heal, but I’d argue that you won’t need that heal since you’ll have double the blocks using offhand sword. I know there’s a lot of shield-head posts here on the forums trash talking offhand sword, but it might be time to give it another look.

I’m not a fan of self-inflicted conditions. It sucks having to use two skills just to get one skill’s full intended effects. Self-inflicted conditions are difficult to balance because they need to be super powerful to justify the risk, but then everyone complains about they are too powerful in the hands of good players.

I’m disappointed in condi-rev and all the items noted in this thread make me angry at the developers. Where the hell are the bug fixes? It’s like no one is working on this class at all. Underwater skills are a mess, condition builds are a mess. You can bet they will nerf the sword auto-attack sooner or later, they always nerf something when their stats show everyone using it.

Rotation Notes

Pure DPS Rotation

  • Glint + Shiro – Activate all facets except elite -> Elemental Blast -> Assassin Stance -> Enchanted Daggers -> Impossible Odds -> Sword Auto -> Dragon Stance -> Activate all facets except elite -> Sword Auto until Quickness runs out -> Unrelenting Assault -> Frigid Blitz -> Sword Auto -> Elemental Blast -> Assassin Stance -> Impossible Odds -> Sword Auto -> repeat Glint and Shiro off cooldown

I’ve spent a couple days puzzling over this, and trying to work out the rotation. I’m a bit slow, so let’s pretend that I don’t fully understand all the mechanics, or how they necessarily work. Actually, we don’t even have to pretend.

At the moment, I’m using the Glint/Shiro combo, with hammer and sword/axe. I’ve been trying really hard to follow the above rotation in order to understand what’s going on, and why. One thing that isn’t specified and I had issues with trying to work around is, you don’t specifically mention the F2 facet.. am I correct in assuming that when you say “activate all facets”, that includes the F2 one? And if so, do I ever blast it, or just leave it alone? I’ve been having troubles with it when swapping to Shiro and attempting to use Impossible Odds.. because Impossible Odds is unavailable with the F2 still active. So I’ve just been ignoring F2 altogether and don’t even activate it in the rotation. Again, let me know what I’m doing wrong, there.

So what I’ve been able to gather, and you allude to it in your rotation notes but not clearly enough for me, is the only reason we are in Shiro is to use the heal, Impossible Odds, and autoattack.. and that’s it. Right? What isn’t clear is what is the trigger that makes me swap back to Dragon Stance.. is it when Impossible Odds runs out?

Then, when you say “activate all facets except elite”, again, does that include the F2 facet? If so, I’m not sure I understand what you mean in your notes by letting it run out for some sort of cooldown avoidance. What exact mechanic are we striving for there?

Can you provide a bit more description about what exactly is going on during this rotation?

Thank you.

Yes, activate the F2 facet (Facet of Nature) after switching to Glint. This gives you 50% extra boon duration for the boons you are pumping out while in Glint. Now, don’t swap back to Shiro until you run out of energy in Glint; running out of energy forces the automatic deactivation of Facet of Nature. Energy drain is the only way to deactivate Facet of Nature without triggering the CD. You cannot, due to mechanics of the class I guess, activate Impossible Odds in Shiro if Facet of Nature is still active.

You must have missed this post:

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/revenant/Guide-DPS-Revenant-for-PVE/

The Herald rotation alternates between boon stacking and bursting. The hardest part of the rotation is pushing 5 buttons as fast as possible after swapping to Glint. You activate every Facet except the ultimate to set up an intentional energy drain, necessary to automatically deactivate Facet of Nature before swapping back to Shiro. As Obal’s guide explains several times, energy drain is the only way to deactivate Facet of Nature without triggering the CD. Think of Infuse Light as a super-block skill that usually restores you to full health. I’m not using the other active utilities that much, although using Elemental Blast at the end of the Glint rotation would add some DPS. Also, be sure to take the time to activate Enchanted Daggers in Shiro, as it provides a lot of sustain and a DPS increase .

Obal, thanks for the guidance. I hadn’t been using Facet of Nature except to irregularly pop One with Nature, but now the whole energy depletion and legend swapping is coming together nicely. I like how you can play this rotation without ever having to look to your skill bar for CDs. You have Herald’s ground effect to indicate when you can swap to Shiro, and you have the obvious loss of quickness to indicate when you should swap back to Glint.

although id never kick a warrior for running another dps build, i can understand wanting a PS warr, the whole perma 25 group might thing is pretty great

meh herald stacks might better anyway tbh.

I have an ascended viper set thats literally doing nothing on my rev, because I tried making a condi rev and it sucks. might put it on my war

I had full ascended Sinister gear ready for my Revenant at launch, but I’ve given up on using it, since the power DPS is so superior. I’ve just about given up on the Warrior condi build too, even with yesterday’s changes. I’m considering changing the stats to Berserker’s in the Mystic Forge so my Warrior and Revenant don’t have to share armors.

I’m going with sinister revenant for launch. Mace/Axe/Shield felt very good during BWE3. It’s definitely not your corner stacking dungeon build circa 2013, but I got five other classes for that. This build is meant to see action against the new AI programmed to move out of player AOEs. Depending on whether you need blinds or might, lead with Unyielding Anguish (UA) or Searing Fissure (SF) and blast these with Echoing Eruption (EE). Auto-attack and watch the mob move out of your AOEs. Then put down more AOEs and blast EE again. When your ready to swap to Glint, use any remaining energy by activating the Mallyx elite. Keep auto-attacking while swapping to Glint and work in that Elemental Blast (EB) AOE. Get off Chaotic Release and One with Nature and swap back to Mallyx when it comes off cool-down. Axe offhand, along with the other Glint Facets, bring powerful counters to the varied mob mechanics seen in beta, and the shield offhand brings terrific sustain.

Hey everyone, I have an update regarding the availability of raids.

Due to the issues we experienced yesterday with the Enhance Squad UI and with further internal discussion, we have made the very difficult decision to keep raids turned off for the remainder of the beta weekend.

We are continuing to investigate the issues and also looking into options that would allow us to get more testing on these features before we release.

We thank you for your patience and understanding.

I suspect that the game systems are being rushed to meet the deadline. I’m wondering if there any discussion of perhaps postponing the first raid a few weeks to a month? It would give the players time to experience the other new content and master their new specializations. It would give the team more the time to test and polish the raids. Hopefully, you aren’t polishing a turrd.

Ascended Gear to be Required for Raids

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Cheby Shev.4671

Cheby Shev.4671

I recently returned to this game after a year and a half break. When I last played, Ascended armor had just been released, but the ferocity change was incoming and many people were advocating patience to see what would be the right stats after that change. At that point in the game, all I was doing was repeating the same content every day in order to farm materials for Ascended gear.

The content wasn’t especially fun and it took all of the three hours I had available to play on any given day. It consisted of several world bosses for the Dragonite ore and Ectoplasm (i.e. salvaging rares), assorted P1 dungeon speed runs for the Empyreal Shards and Gold, some Champion farming for the Bloodstone Dust (used to be overabundant), and an awful lot of gathering. I could only produce about one Dragonite Ingot (100 ore) and one Empyreal Star (100 shards) per day, and it was breaking my bank to keep up with the daily time gate on making Lumps of Mithrillium and Globs of Elder Spirit Residue.

At this pace, I was able to create about one Ascended weapon per week. Ascended gear was soul bound back then. Well, it’s exactly the same routine now that I’ve returned, only now I’m grinding for three Ascended armor sets for my five level 80 characters to share. I really want to finish this gear grind (gear grind: the one I’m describing here, not the one found in any other game) someday, so I can focus more on using the gear than producing the gear. If additional non-zerker’s gear sets really are required for Raids, it’s going to be a lot longer before that time comes.

I’d like everyone to imagine a weekly leader board for content xyz. The top 50 fastest completion times each week in NA and top 50 in EU each get a legendary chest with some very desirable account bound item (rng-based). You can get on the leader board once for each of your characters, so each of your characters have the chance to get a weekly chest. That’s the environment I spent last year competing in. I never ran any PUGs, my guild ran everyone through the weekly with each of their max level characters so we could get multiple chests each week. The runs were highly optimized, and the guild competed for the fastest weekly time, earning number one many times, and holding the overall record on a few occasions. As a member of a raiding guild, I did what I was told, ran the gear and skills I was told to run, played the way I was told to play, and I think we succeeded because of that organization. We did not share our strategies or builds. We did not look for, or generally use exploits; but honestly, we did try an exploit this one time, because everyone knew about it, and it was just too funny not to try it. Bamm! 1 million damage, for the lols. Even though this was a trinity game, we were so optimized that under certain metas (the meta changed with balance patches) we were running some content with only one non-dps player out of 12 spots. This player was doing both tanking and healing. It was always a question of how to go faster, that was the entire point, and there was just no such thing as PHIW. In GW2, if you do the same content every week, or every day, in order to farm gold and materials, you appreciate an optimized group, even if there isn’t a leader board.

On the one hand, Colin likes to remind everyone that Guild Wars 2 doesn’t have a gear grind, that (after Ascended armor that is) there are no plans to raise the level cap, or create new tiers of gear. However, at almost the same time, the development team is smugly promising that the so-called Zerker meta in PvE won’t cut it in the new content and will be unsuitable. Look, we players didn’t make stupid AI and encounters that are optimized by gear with these stats. So isn’t this just a veiled gear grind, since all my Ascended Berserker’s / Assassin’s gear will be obsolete?

You know you can change the stats on your Berserker gear right? Just use this Mystic Forge recipe:

So you don’t have to grind to get an entirely new armor set. All you have to do is get the runes again because they will get destroyed in this process.

Listen, the issue is not that we don’t know how to stop auto-attacking. This is about Autotargeting. We like Autotargeting most of the time, but need to be able to turn it off more easily in order to make use of various skills for mobility. When Autotargeting is enabled, your mobility skills will move you toward the nearest target, rather than in the direction you intend. What you have to do now, without a keybind, is keep the options window open all the time and off to the side, kind of like what many people do with their inventory, so that you can check and uncheck the Autotargeting setting, as needed. If would be great if ArenaNet would just add an optional keybind to toggle this setting, that’s all. Thanks

- Phalanx Strength moved from Tactics to Strength. Right now, if you are a warrior who wants to do group pve content, you are required to take both Strength and Tactics. This cripples build diversity and group eligibility. Berserker is very unlikely to see play because of this, and if it does somehow see play over Arms (for example) you are still extremely restricted in what you can do with the class because your other two traitlines are locked in already.

If you move PS to grandmaster Strength then you can’t take Berserker’s Power and we are back to poop tier DPS.

Just a thought, move BP to the Berserker GM trait, there’s your foregone conclusion.
