I will chime in. I have tried every combo in wvwvw and I always come back to gs/staff. But gs/sw+x is also very good. But yes, imo gs is mandatory. 90% of my encounters end up with me chasing runners and firing a beam into someones back. Every kitten skill on the gs is amazing. air/fire on gs and doom/hydro on staff is a nice setup.

Finally a reasonable solution! Add to that: a **dstar like “Sprint” (50%?) hotkey that gives around baseline X seconds of sprint with a full charge and slow recharge.

Pretty much take the max condition damage you can get on a necro, and add 380, from the scepter trait and the signet.

There was a thread about 5 months ago speculating about a 10 second cooldown added to DE. I seriously doubt they would ever do that.

Who doesn’t regardless of class? But playing like a pro isn’t going to happen overnight. Players like Yishis and others are the result of thousands of hours of PVP in their respective class. They are always adapting and refining their play style, build, tactics, equipment, key binds, etc. They know from experience the advantages/disadvantages of not only every class but every build within each class. Yishis is really outstanding because he also educates the community and gives tips on how to maximize your odds against 1vX.

So, pick a weapon set, pick a solid build, start working your way up to full exotics and ascended gear. In w3 always use your food and oils and stacks. Level up to 80 using whatever means you want. In between levels get into SPVP and get stomped over and over learning the basics. Seriously, just go get rolled over and over again.

Eventually you will see that you are winning most engagements. Start working on the ones you aren’t. Soon 1v1 are no problem, start working on 1v2 and up.

Start getting your feet went in w3. Run with the zerg and engage peeps on the outside of the main groups. If you run into trouble get back to your group. Keep doing this until you find you don’t need your zerg/group for support. just keep practicing.

Then when you finally feel like you have mastered your build ANET will nerf it. ADAPT. Don’t cry about it. Don’t chase flavors of the month.

Seriously, that class/soul was one of the best in mmo history. and yes ss was freaking incredible, but it also roots and snared and AOE (8) lol. also Haunting Pain which was the reverse – you had to move to survive. don’t forget Traitorous Influence. so awesome.

I don’t think any of us are having problems with most thieves. It’s the pro thieves where all of the suggestions in this thread fall apart. I am also gs/staff and it will not work, you will just delay the stomp slightly. Best I can get is using scepter/sword sword/torch. as much block and stealth you can get and it will still be a nasty fight.

Mine as well.

I use Osicat’s Shatter Cat Mist build 0/20/20/0/30 most of the time to emphasize defense on staff and use GS instead of sw/focus and with Far Reaching Manipulations and Master of Manipulation for mobility. Sure you are slower than sw/focus, but nobody will get away from you with a 24 second blink and GS. If you wish to go more offensive GS, use his standard 20/20/0/0/30.

Anyone tested this one yet? I can think of a couple builds that if you got lucky could chain stun the kitten out of someone. And with interrupt traits could be lol.

no they want it to be nerfed, because a glamour mesmer can destroy a thief very quickly as all the thieves are used to is spamming 1111,2,2,111111111,2222,6 when they meet a glam mesmers it goes more like 2,2 ouch ouch ouch 11112,down……

then they might as well nerf pyros blocking phantasm build also because that hilariously wrecks thieves as well. block block down….

lol even my wife who is the worst pvper in the history of mmos knows to stop pressing buttons when she sees a confustion stack. Confusion in its current state makes this game better.

so someone mentioned in a diff thread about spite line condi duration not stacking with hemo – that it (the game) would use the higher of the 2 (in this case the 30% from the spite line). is this, in face, true? if so then i guess swapping to chill on blind would be better way to go?

We had to also abandon this frac last night. The only way to stop the debuff was to log out to desktop and go back in. Then when you re-enter the frac, you would insta die and then your group could res you. But, eventually we all had the debuff and had to give up. Very frustrating.

First, thanks for your excellent contribution and dedication to the class. Because of your work and others in this thread, I think many of us have increased our skills tremendously. But for those of us who wish to go further, could you perhaps share or give some hints on your physical setup like keyboard/mice? Practice is, of course, the ultimate but I sometimes feel I could be doing combos much better with a more optimized key binding.

Right now I have a slightly modified binding: default layout with q,e,r,c as utility 1,2,3,elite and heal,swap,dodge on mouse. this is doing okay but travel time to shatters is a little long. I have been considering shaking things up with a naga hex to remove travel time.

Do you or anyone in here have any advice on physical bindings and setups to minimize combo and rotation times?
