It was stated in the patch notes that it has been temporarily disabled.
For me it depends on the toon. Arachnaphobia looks awesome with my Sylvari ranger, but the Wintersday shortbow looks better with my female human.
You do realize there’s a lot of time left in the event.
Take Halloween as an example… people flipped and freaked out on several issues, but by the end it turned out that if they had waited it out, they would have been happy.
While I don’t mind grouping with younger players, heck… more often than not they play better than I do. But please… please please, for the love of god, if you don’t have time to form a group without at leas a 30 minute window to finish… please don’t advertise and form a group for dungeons or any other content that requires a significant amount of time to complete.
Twice tonight I got into a group that was running fractals, and both times players dropped due to parent aggro and left a few of us hanging.
I don’t mind rushing to finish. But when we’re on fractal 2 of 3, and we’re on an even numbere’d fractal level, the last thing I want to hear is a couple players say “We only have 30 minutes left, mom is about to kick us off.”
Wow…Anet have no idea how expensive vanilla beans and chocolate bars are now…
Thank you for the recipes :P
Chocolate bars aplenty to be found in bloodtide coast (pirates must have a sweet tooth, as they often seem to be carrying them around in their bags). Then a quick hop, skip, and a jump into sparkfly fen, and vanilla beans galore (not to mention Metrica and Caledon newbie zones).
They’re easy to get without having to pay for them.
I would’t classify it as a bug. The items do say unique. Unique items, by design, are an “only 1 equipped at a time” item.
Anybody that advertises “LFG except for <insert any class here>” isn’t worth grouping with.
The only time it may be a reasonable requirement is because the group is already stacked (read, at least 2) in that class. Otherwise, it’s just players who don’t understand the game very well, in which case you wouldn’t want to be in their group to begin with.
Every class in the game is more than suitable.
Vanilla Beans are easy to get now. They drop 3-5 at a time, and harvested in newbie zones (or alternatively lvl 65 zones). Easy Peasey.
Anybody else having an issue trying to dye the hats? I have the festive hat, and the one that comes with the outfit. Dying any other piece sticks, but the hat doesn’t seem to stick the new dye.

it would help but as is… knowone is able to download anything…. as the Connection Error(s) detected. Retrying… keeps showing up.
so even if they did it on a seperate day i dont think this would change much.
I think the OP’s point is that logins surge around the launch of major events.
So you end up with a larger population trying to login and slamming the download server – not to mention trying to download even larger patches.
Precisely my point. The download servers are going to get slammed regardless. But the smaller the download, the sooner the download can be completed opening bandwidth for others still waiting.
I’m actually very happy with the changes. All I ever thought was needed was increased arrow speed, and more hits from pets, and even then I was hoping for a 15%-20% increase. 30% makes me very happy.

I understand how it probably seems convenient to push major patches alongside content updates. But does anybody else agree that patches should be deployed separately (ie.. day before or day after content updates).
The first day of events and/or content updates, everybody and their whole family of gamers are all trying to download the content at the same time.
To me… it would make sense to separate them so as to cut down on the size of the download that everybody is trying to get at the same time.
2nd bullet point. Dart. Which skill is that? Devourers white attacks?
It’s your #3 spear attack.
I dont know, but after the last event debacle…this one isnt off to a promising start.
I don’t know what debacle you are talking about, but maybe they are just triple-checking everything to be sure it’s smooth before opening the flood gates today?
I believe he’s referring to the patch hitting sometime after 11pm PST. Which basically deployed with minutes to spare to technically fall under the promised date.
Sure the prices go down, so it’s cheaper to buy. But at the same time, profit from selling is down. The only people who make money selling are the bots because they have mountains of product to sell at a rock bottom price. Those of us who actually play the game are now sitting on small amounts of worthless product.
The patch that came with the Halloween update showed up around 11pm PST. We could potentially be looking at another 13 hours.
Most bots have gone into hiding, but they’re there. You typically see them underwater now (especially around Lost Shores) so as to not be so noticeable with their teleporting.
Welcome to the wonderful world of being an early adopter.
Sometimes you get a bonus, sometimes you don’t. But one thing for sure is, as an early adopter you will always pay more simply to be “first”.
The wizard hat is a cosmetic item. It doesn’t grant any advantage. It’s not game breaking. It’s no big deal.
On the flip side… people who buy late and get the wizard hat also do not have the event items that were only obtainable at those times (well, at least until next year when the events roll around again).
You don’t always adjust your price to that specific item. Sometimes a seller will look at other similar items with similar (but not exact) stats.
For all you know, when somebody undercut the current lowest price of that specific greatswoard by a substantial margin, it may simply be because he/she looked at what other greatswords of similar quality were selling at, and priced accordingly.
My guess is… that seller wanted to ensure his item was the first item in the list when a buyer searched for greatswords of that rarity and level, then sorted the list by price.
More often than not, most players will submit their search, then sort the search by price. And then they’ll pick the first one they’re happy with as cheaply as they can get. Most players don’t bother zeroing in on specific types until they start shopping for exotics. When shopping for rares or less, most players just shop for their primary stat, and hope for the best, but allow price to be a major factor.

I’ve been stockpiling ingredients I’m guessing will be used… Mint, Cinnamon, Chocolate, and Snow Truffles.
I dunno that that’d be a sound idea. If a server is running low, then steps should be taken to increase that servers population. Allowing players to selectively go to the overflow instead would just decrease the population of that server even more.
Given that MF is only used for monster drops… I don’t really know why people would run MF gear in dungeons. It’s not like you kill enough mobs for the law of averages to even kick in in your favor with MF gear.
That being said… I don’t begrudge anybody wearing MF gear in a dungeon. It’s not like dungeons are really so difficult with a full party that cutting back on one stat in favor of MF would really make a difference.
Dungeons are more about playing the mechanics. Stats are secondary to that.
In my experience in numerous MMO’s… 99.9999% of the time, it’s somebody in your guild who you’ve mistakenly assumed that they positively wouldn’t have done it, when in reality, that’s exactly what happened.
I didnt see in the patch notes that you guys nerfed the ecto chance.
That’s because they didn’t.
Orr is only frustrating when you first hit 79/80 and entering the zones for the first time. After you hit 80, sure it’s a bit of a struggle, but once you get geared up, it’s not all that difficult to get around.
I have a few 80’s of varying classes and I can run all through Orr without breaking a sweat. Do I sometimes get locked into an encounter I’d hoped not to? Sure, but nowhere near as often as I used to. And when I do it’s short work to get out of it.
When you’re geared in Greens/Yellows, yeah, it can be a kick in the shorts. But if you’re still struggling after you’re predominately geared in Exotics… well then you’ve got a problem beyond game mechanics.
When you’re wandering around in the highest tier maps, and expect to get around with less than highest tier equipment, you should probably rethink what you expect from game design.
I’m relatively confident that it’ll change after the event is over and there’s no longer any sidekicking to 80 in the zone.
Really? I find this to be the easiest of the fractals.
You don’t need to kill much if anything. The traps are easy to spot. And there’s a timer.
During this weekend event yes, everyone will be scaled to level 80 for the dungeon. After the event ends, you will need to be 80 to do it.
Nope, the Fractals will always be scaleable to 80.
You can do the Fractals at any level. It will scale you up to 80 when you enter. Although you won’t have the advantage lvl 80s with their traits have.
Seriously… how many times does the event have to send me the same mail about Zomorros and other content?
From your Wiki page:
Gem Store: 250 gems each or 10 Units for 1800 Gems.
Mystic Forge: using one of the following recipes
3 island skins (e.g. shoulders), 1 passion flower, 1 passion fruit, and 1 karka shell
A set of mask or shoulder skins (1 light, 1 medium, one heavy) and 1 karka shell. Can we agree that even the Mystic Forge recipes for the chest contain items FROM the chest itself?
Sure, you can get those ingredients from the chest itself. But they’re also world drops once the event goes live. So you don’t need to buy chests to get the mats to make them in the forge. And along your same line of logic, get world drops, craft the chests in the forge, and get materials back to make more chests, all without having to spend a single gem on them.
You can also get chests from the Mystic Forge. You don’t have to buy them.
…a Trident is ranged?… i have never tried one basically coz the very thought of a humungous fork being ranged never occured to me…
Ill try and let you know.
As to not knowing to the kite problem, mesmers kite. At least its what i do, on land. In water, all of a sudden the vertical and the horizontal come into play. You agro more mobs than youre aiming for just coz youre kiting into their agro zone. With limited movement abilities and used to ranged combat, a 360 melee inviroment is a bad place to be,
I find it to be quite the opposite. If anything, I find that it gives you exponentially more options of where and which direction you can move to kite, or flee towards if you get in a jam.
Ranger: short bow is fine, longbow’s not. trap only at my location can’t throw it at the mobs? Just wish I can have more AoE skill on longbow.
Have you not seen the ability to use Ground Targeting with Ranger traps?
Are you using a ranged weapon under water? IMHO Mesmer is one of the most versatile of all the classes under water.
If you could reliably get those rare items within 16 chests, then they wouldn’t be rare. Had you opened a few hundred and not found any, then it’d be time to get concerned.
I find MF useful, especially for farming.
You have to remember, MF isn’t only about rares, it affects greens (and probably blues) as well. Doing a Plinx run and having bags full of greens to vendor is a good thing.
You talk as if crafting were usefull right now.
You can almost buy an crafted exotic armor for the same amount that it cost building it. And the price difference wont compensate the lost money to get to 400.
Crafting, right now, is plain useless.
I crafted my latest 80 toon’s complete armor set for less than 1 gold. I’d say it’s useful.
I’d bet dollars to donuts that the ascended armor will require an exotic armor piece as one of the ingredients thrown into the mystic forge. So crafting exotics won’t take a hit.
I can’t speak for cooking (because I already have all the Halloween recipes with my chef), but with my other crafting professions I still see candy corn show up in the discovery tab. So I’d say that’s an indicator that they’re still there to be discovered.
IMHO, the cost of mats is more influenced by the abundance of bots that flood the TP with obscene amounts of product. Kill the bots and gold sellers, and the price of mats will adjust accordingly.
You didn’t actually lose all the influence/upgrades/etc… they’re still there. Just tied to the world you accumulated them in. There was no destruction on behalf of Anet. The mechanic has been known from the beginning.
My guess is that somebody in your guild with access to the guild bank created an alt, raided the guild bank, then deleted said alt.
In my past experiences with other MMO’s, when the guild bank suddenly turns up empty, somebody in the guild isn’t being honest. Usually followed up with an excuse accusing a family sibling of logging in on their account.
For those who are missing an achievement, did you also participate for at least one round in Reaper’s Rumble and the Lunatic instance?
More town clothing would be nice.
I’d also like to see town clothes craftable. Clothes that can be made by professions that already make armors. Equip-able items akin the the Witch’s Broom for brawls made by professions that make weapons. And potions with different effects for artificers.
well i think these games are only available once per year during festive seasons.
Nah, it’ll be more than once per year. There’ll be a Thanks Giving and Christmas event, St. Patty’s day, Easter, April Fool’s, Talk Like a Pirate day, etc…
I had to participate and finish at least one round of the 2 pvp games in the mad king’s realm to get the 4th achievement. Win or lose didn’t matte, and just popping in and back out didn’t give credit either. I had to participate.
and some of u alls a hole comments arnt helpin out. u heard when u were a little kid, if u cant say somethin nice dont say anything at all.
Irony?
The crafting mats that have already been harvested/collected will stay. But you won’t be able to get new mats unless you buy them from somebody who saved some.
You won’t be able to buy the recipes anymore, but if they can still be discovered if you have the mats.
All halloween quests/instances/mini dungeons/etc… will be gone. So no you won’t be able to run the scavenger hunt until next year.
