Why do i always have to feel so neglected in matchups against french servers?
It’s like they don’t even care!
We do care I’ve brought cookies, not trash talk, for everyone
Best: Account Wallet, WvW Ranks, Labyrinthine Cliffs map design and aesthetics, changeable stats for Legendaries, infinite harvesting tools
Worst: SAB, WvW Bloodlust/Leagues, all of the event dungeons and minigames, Scarlet, Skyhammer PvP map, timers on all world bosses
The Bloodlust, Leagues, and world boss timers are the worst of the worst. My former server hasn’t been able to kill Jormag since that patch, struggles with the Shatterer, and is losing both PvE and WvW players (including myself) at a shocking rate. Needless to say, I’m disappointed with the majority of the Living Story updates.
Hello to the World vs World community out there! Due to some forthcoming changes to the World vs World borderlands, I’d like to introduce our server, Vabbi [EU], and provide some information about our community to those that might not know about us yet.
I’ll start by stating the truth: Due to its low population, Vabbi is one of the weakest (if not the weakest) WvW realms in Europe. There is virtually no communication between our PvE and WvW guilds. Over the past few months, a few guilds from Vabbi were presented with a difficult choice: either to leave for better WvW servers, or to stay and build a community. A few guilds left, but the ones that remained are working hard, building the fine community that we have today.
Here is what has happened in the past few months on Vabbi:
• We have quite a few experienced commanders on Vabbi, but our presence on our home BL and EB is only during the daytime and early evening hours, ending at around 1-3am BST/GMT.
• For the past few weeks, we’ve been roflstomping zergs and blobs twice our size with smart thinking and good communication, despite the fact that our primetime isn’t terribly strong. We’ve got weekly Guild Raids that can take full control of a BL/EB during reset, and the day after as well. This provides a lot of free loot bags, and an experience that many Vabbi players haven’t seen in almost a year. This is mainly due to guilds going pure PvE or even worse, leaving our server.
• We never have queues for WvW.
• We’ve got a community Teamspeak, now with dedicated Guild Channels in multiple languages, and a community site with dedicated guild forums.
• Tier 9 server – We can’t go any lower, but we’ve always tried to fight our way out. With the fall of Whiteside Ridge, we were awarded the Blue Borderlands for a week, and everyone got to finish map completions. Great success for Vabbi!
Current large WvW Guilds on Vabbi:
• Warriors Vabbi [WvW] – Russian
• Lightning Strikes Twice [LST] – English
• Only For Soldiers [OFS] – English
• Les Zélateurs De Zaun [LZZ] – French
Small Guilds & Roaming Guilds:
• Luna Eclipse [LNA] – English
• Troublesome Tea [TEA] – English
• Vabbi Dream Team [DT] – English
Neither I, nor my guild, can speak for the whole of Vabbi. But in general, our server is focused on small-scale fights and capping. It’s for the sake of trying to hold our own. On the weekends, we look for action and rarely care for PPT.
With the upcoming changes to the BLs, and the Leagues feature just around the corner, Vabbi is going to be a pushover. However, this will not stop Vabbians from playing. We will still meet every opponent on the battlefield despite being grossly outnumbered. We’ll still fight for our server. We will fight for what we know is right, and we will take what is ours, or die trying. What we don’t take now, we will always flip later.
In closing, to anyone that is thinking about coming to join our nice little server, Vabbi, we need your help! Even if it’s just for a week, you’ll be welcomed with open arms, and be given a nice farewell if you choose to leave.
We are Vabbi! We’ll meet you head-to-head!
Hoooraaah!
~Lightning Strikes Twice
“Les français”, Hybrid. Yeah it was totally “cray cray”. Our proudest moment…haha.
On that note, it looks as if WSR has recovered population-wise. Great fight, all of you
Some of us just don’t like Mario-style platformers. Is there something wrong with being a gamer who has preferences for other types of games? I think not.
I will most likely not be participating in this Living Story, because I have a strong dislike of platformers and minigames, but I’m happy for my friends who enjoy the SAB. It won’t last for long, so I’m not complaining…much.
We on Vabbi REALLY need a night/early early morning team. But I’m not sure you want to sink down that far, haha. At least the transfer to us would be cheap and there’s a lot of opportunities to run as a small team (my guilds always work as small teams)…since we never have enough people to field an actual zerg. If you and your team use Teamspeak or Mumble, join us right away if you decide to transfer to Vabbi; we’re always on there.
Despite the negatives, which I hope I’ve been honest about, please do consider us!
1) D/P, SB
2) 0/30/10/30/0
3) WvW, PvE
Please check all that apply.

Very happy that you’re enjoying our lovely country, Diddy, but Vabbi needs you back We are pretty much tied with WSR at the mo!
And, good luck to everyone for this matchup!
Had the pleasure of running last night with LZZ for an hour or so and sitting in on their Mumble chat They really know their stuff and are a great (and much-needed) addition to Vabbi.
Hope you plan to stay permanently!
Erm…what’s going on? It seems as if FoW has had a massive population increase in the past few days. Did something happen? We were getting steamrolled by you guys. Every time we took a tower or a camp, a FoW zerg was more than just one step ahead of us. Only saw 5 WSR players tonight, and the entire map was blue.
As a fellow Fractals-hater and WvW-er, I got the Vial of Condensed Mists Essence on the day Fractals was released and my guild managed to drag me in there to try it. Level 1, no MF gear or food. It’s not ideal, but it’s proof that the vial is available at the lowest levels just by playing it through once or twice.
It seems as if they’re planning in the future to add ways of getting ascended backpieces outside of Fractals, since there are now ascended gear vendors in WvW and WvW-specific infusions. Here’s hoping this is the case :/
I use: S/P because of the built-in evade on Pistol Whip (skill 3). You can literally just stand there and solo facetank some mobs with it (e.g. wurms in TA). P/P for situations where mobs aren’t melee-friendly, or for single target ranged dps. Shortbow for large groups of trash mobs – Cluster Bomb does decent AOE damage, and skill 5 helps you to skip them if you want, along with Shadow Refuge of course. D/P for other situations.
150 normal coffers: 0 weapon tickets, 1 risen knight mini
28 Rich coffers: 1 weapon ticket, 4 risen knight minis
Ouch. Still, I’m very happy that I finally got a ticket. My guildie and farming buddy got the holographic wings backpiece, three minis and a weapon ticket after roughly 400 normal coffers, though….
My P/P thief in zerker and cavalier gear breezed through Canach in 5 minutes flat. Didn’t get below half my health at any point during the fight. I’m really sorry to anyone that is having trouble though. My advice is just to keep your distance from any bombs whilst staying constantly on the move, and to time your dodges well. If it comes down to it, choose to get hit by Canach rather than stepping into a bomb, because he seems to do barely any damage.
Honestly, people, why do you care so much about how it looks? It’s more of a practical item rather than a cosmetic one, which is why I bought it. I’m just happy about having space in my bags for more important things, and never again worrying about “ruined plant fibres”.
I play on Mac client too, and I’ve got the same glitchy hawks problem for a while now. Hope it gets fixed soon. Will try to screenshot it and post here to provide more evidence.
Hello people,
i’m one of the few people from the Millersounds Guild YMCA, who transfered for a week to Vabbi to has a outtime from the everyday same Gaming Style on our Server.
We did’nt know what await us on Vabbi and it was incredible.
Very nice people give us a warm welcome and we talk a lot as our terrible english it allows :-)
After the few days now, we had joined, i feel very sad for Vabbi…. Everytime they has a little feeling of success, both, Blacktide and Fissure of Woe will hunt them down.
It’s creepy to see the massive attacks on Vabbi Homemap, while the other Borderlands are nearly clean.
For me as an outsider it looks like BT and FoW has an agreement to farm Karma on Vabbi and if this will be boring fighting a little bit to each other. But we have our fun, the Vabbi people don’t give up and i hope sometime they will get enough motivated players on the Maps to be an equivalent foe. Their commanders are good, but they need mor WvW player ;-)
Thanks for all the kindness and the massive fun we can have with the Vabbi guys!
Special thanks to Jamo, who does a really great job for Vabbi! We will be a little bit sad to go back to Millersound, but home is home….
Hauka! Great seeing you here It’s Tasija (charr thief from LST & BAD guilds)
Has YMCA already left Vabbi? If so, it was lovely having you and your guild around for that short time, and we hope you decide to vacation with us again! All of you are great players and very nice people too! We do need more WvW players for sure, but I don’t think that’s going to be possible unless Anet decides to make more free server transfers.
On a similar note, I honestly don’t know what happened to the FoW + Vabbi alliance. I’ve heard several conflicting stories as to why it fell through. Oh well
Same here. I’m in Shadow Badgers on Vabbi and it’s as if the guild doesn’t exist anymore, from the looks of the guild display page. Influence, guild tags and all are missing.
Btw, hi Mox
I play a P/P thief as my main with SB as secondary weapon, and it’s nearly impossible to die, unless you’re grossly outnumbered (in WvW) or haven’t traited for enough initiative and stamina regen. If your DPS is high enough, you’ll find that you can down another Thief in WvW with just one Unload. You may not like playing this build because of lack of stealth, but I think the constant ranged damage makes up for it. Also, get used to swapping weapon set a lot. It can make a huge difference if you know when to bring out your shortbow, as skill 3 gives you a few extra evades and Cluster Bomb does great AOE.
For gear, I use a mix of Berserker and Cavalier (power/tough/crit damage). I’ve also traited for might on dodge to give an extra damage boost.
I’m not sure if this is actually a bug, but I’ve found that my camera gets stuck in a super-zoomed-in view after entering an area with a world boss, regardless of whether or not I actually take part in the event. The only way I’ve found to get my camera back to its normal view is to restart the game entirely. I’m playing on the Mac beta, and none of my Windows-using guildmates have reported experiencing the same issue.
Is there a way to manually move the camera back to its normal position? I don’t recall it being like this until two months ago or so, but I can’t give a precise date at which it started happening. It’s not exactly game-breaking, but it would be nice to know if there is a solution.
It’s the first useful item in the gem store, in my opinion, other than the appearance-changing kits. All of the other items can be found in-game or are completely useless/not aesthetically pleasing (like those quaggan backpacks, town clothes, and minipets). 10$ per pick is totally fine for the amount of convenience it gives me. Hope they make more items like it.
Like you, I played guardian (about 500 hours) before thief, and as said before, you really need to learn how to dodge. Perhaps use the shortbow until you’ve got the hang of it, because #3 skill has a built-in evade. There’s also several traits that increase your endurance, which should give you a few extra dodges in the place of Guardian’s vigour. As for your concerns about condition removal, there’s also a trait that removes conditions every 3 seconds that you’re in stealth, or something like that. Signet of Agility also cures conditions on active, and refills endurance.
Thieves are pretty squishy no matter what build you use, but the huge amount of mobility makes up for it. Get used to moving around constantly. It was a pretty steep learning curve, but I find that playing thief so much, and sticking with it, has actually made me much better at playing guardian.
You all are lucky to have some WvW guilds on your server! We only have three: Shadow Badgers (my guild), Warriors Vabbi and Fremen Sietch. Of course there are a few stragglers from other guilds, but that’s, like, one or two people here and there. We may as well merge into one guild because there are so few of us.
Well, if you ever see a female Charr P/P thief waving and bowing at you, that’s me
Heh, I created a topic about our matchup earlier this week, but couldn’t find it back either.. :/
Agree with Desova, the BT zergball is just kittening us all.. We should make a truce of some sorts: Vabbi stays away from FoW, FoW will stay away from Vabbi, and both of us will hit on BT (Vabbi east side, FoW westside – so we can have some nice battles between us in capturing the garrison and the center camps)
Would love to have a truce so we can at least have a chance of taking Blacktide down. I’ll stay away from any FoW people I see from now on
I can’t speak for Fissure, but Vabbi has so few WvW-ers that I recognise everyone that I run with, even those who aren’t in my guild. The best turnout I’ve ever seen is roughly 30-40 people at peak hours. It’s barely enough to be considered a mini-zerg. No joke, it’s that bad.
Nice videos
Heh heh, I wonder if we’ve ever fought each other in-game…I’m on Vabbi. It’s nice seeing our servers represented here for once on the forums. Blacktide is absolutely crushing both of us though.
+1 for Cyrillic
It would make my Russian guildies’ lives so much easier. And, even as a non-native speaker of the language, translit is much harder for me to understand for some reason.
As a female gamer myself, I haven’t ever encountered the problem you’re describing in GW2. And, I use TeamSpeak all the time, so it’s not as if my guildies don’t know that I’m a girl. There are only three female members including myself in my guild, but we have never felt disrespected by anyone. In fact, one of us is a guild officer.
I actually find “gender tropes” to be quite humourous at times. If you take the jokes in stride and aren’t so combative, people will have nothing to make fun of you for.
Loosen up a bit, don’t act so defensive about your gender, and find yourself a sense of humour (or a more mature crowd to play with).
My little gunslinger Charr.
I’m having pretty significant clipping issues around the waist area, to the point where it looks like there’s a hole in my charr’s waist from most angles. And, my double pistols are floating far off of my character’s hips. Neither issue was present until the 26 March patch.
Race: Charr
Sex: Female
Class: Thief
Equipment: Bladechipped Mask (Karma vendor) from Iron Marches, Order of Whispers shoulders, Charr cultural T3 chest armour, Charr cultural T1 gloves, Exotic Duelist’s trousers, Charr cultural T2 boots
Weapons: Venomstriker & Ruinmaker pistols
Photo 1 is of the clipping waist issue, photo 2 is the floating pistols from front view, and photo 3 is of floating pistols from back view.
I saw a ranger bear pet named Beer in WvW the other night. Shouldn’t have laughed as hard as I did.
Kodan are a bit too similar to the Norn. And, since they’re polar bears, there would be no variety between players in terms of appearances. I think that leaves them out of the running. I’m betting on the Tengu being the next playable race. I absolutely love their design, so it would be brilliant if this turns out to be true.
The horns are incredible. Would love to put those on my Charr Guardian, here’s hoping they make them available.
Everything else is just so wrong. I thought it was a photoshopped early April Fools’ joke before seeing it elsewhere on the GW2 website. Unless they change her design before the patch, I’m going to avoid her like the plague, because “anime eyes” and the bad taxidermy look may be contagious…
Female GS Charrdian here, and proud of it, too
Come to think of it, though, I don’t think I’ve ever seen another “fluffy tail” on my server…
Finally I can play with my Bengal Kitten.
She says hello to you all with her meowing.
How cute! I love bengals Hello to her too!
Trading Post was bugged; it won’t let me buy anything. Logged out to try and resolve the problem, and can’t get back in. It’s a shame this has to happen during my spring vacation
Server is Vabbi (EU), location is France.
It was my first AC run a few nights ago and I must say, I’ve never had less fun in a dungeon before. We were all level 80 full exotic except for one player, but I’ve never had a bigger repair bill in 500+ hours of playing. Spider Queen was ridiculous with her poison and immobilise super combo, and Ghost Eater kept getting stuck/bugged. One of our group disconnected at the end of the run and got absolutely nothing for her efforts. All in all, it must have taken us at least 2 and a half hours, and no one got anything other than greens and blues. Totally not running this dungeon again, even if someone pays me.
If today’s daily categories were any indicator of things to come, I can’t say I’m too excited. Mystic Toilet usage and whatever “Keg Brawl” is? Honestly? What if I’m not keen on risking my hard-earned gold on RNG? Mystic Forging shouldn’t be on the daily list. Other folks and devs have stated multiple times that if you don’t want to play certain content, then you have the option not to. What they seem to be failing to mention (or realise) is that it’s at the expense of becoming completely obsolete stat-wise, which in turn, locks you out from new content. As much as I love my guildmates, I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t be so keen on taking me into Fractals or dungeons if I weren’t geared out in Exotic and Ascended pieces – not to mention that I wouldn’t let them, because I’d be a burden on the group.
Not even going to go into how I feel about Ectos becoming yet another currency.
On one hand, I’m quite happy with GW2 and the wealth of content that we’ve gotten for 50 euros. On the other hand, the diversity of content and its implementation is becoming a bit schizophrenic and grindy. After this patch, I’m worried about the direction of the game for the first time.
That’s odd. Ok, maybe your authenticator isn’t working at all. There’s a thread especially for problems with the authenticator here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/Authenticator-Questions-Concerns-merged/page/7
Really wish I could help you further, but this is way out of my knowledge. Guess you’ll have to wait for a mod to see this, or for an update on your support ticket. Sorry
Well, first off, sorry to hear that this has happened to you. As far as I know, mobile authenticator is working, so I assume that yours has memorised your IP address and is not asking for your mobile code due to that.
Sounds like you should qualify for an account rollback under these circumstances if you ask for it using your support ticket.
You and your father sound wonderful, Eosin. Hope I’ll run into you two sometime in-game! I sympathise with your situation, as I’m living in the EU and my parents are in the States, and they’re around the same age as yours. My mother appears to live on the internet and has been a PC gamer since PC gaming existed, but my father needs help with everything from antivirus to email. I receive emails at all hours of the day from him, asking if a random .exe file is ok to approve… I didn’t consider getting Mum into GW2, but it sounds like it might be a nice idea. She’ll never get any work done if she starts playing, that’s for sure
Either way, I hope you’re able to sort out your father’s account issues as quickly as possible. Poor guy, it sounds like he somehow set off a false alarm for botting, or had his account hacked. I guess the only course of action would be to help him write an email explaining what he was doing on the day he got banned, and contesting the charge – that worked for me when I got swept into the bot net by accident. It’s a tough situation, but I’m sure Anet will be able to see that it’s not his fault. Good luck!
Thanks Gaile, Michael and LeCreaux. Gaile, I did nothing to retaliate and did not “egg the person on”, so I suppose things should sort themselves out.
I have a quick question for any moderator or other player who happens to know the answer to this: Today, I was approached by a certain player who was asking for gold. He/she was pretty persistent, so after being followed around in-game, I gave them a bit of silver just to get rid of them. They continued to talk with me via direct message, in which they asked for my real name (which I did not give an answer to, obviously) and then said something extremely offensive in highly inappropriate language, which I don’t feel the need to state here. I tried my best to stay pleasant with the person throughout this unpleasant exchange, for fear of being falsely reported, as I have already been banned once on a false charge that I had to contest and do not wish to go through that process again.
Needless to say, I reported and blocked them in-game, but should I submit a ticket through the support section in addition to this? Also, I am concerned that I will be banned if the chat logs are not read carefully. I have proof that I am not the offender through screenshots of the conversation.
Please feel free to move this topic if it’s not in the right section. Thanks in advance.
Same problem here, but the game was up and running just fine this morning. Vabbi (EU) server.
I prefer open world by far. No pressure, non-linear play, and many more choices of things to do (DEs, general exploration, jumping puzzles, beautiful scenery, etc). Dungeons make for a nice variety once in a while, though, if you can find a good group to run with.
I put in a support ticket last night at 23h (CET – France), and received the chest when I logged in this morning at around 10h. I suggest that anyone who hasn’t received the compensation yet and actually attended the event send in support tickets, it seems to speed up the process somewhat.
Everyone is going to think that we are completely daft, but I have to admit that the same exact thing happened to me when I first started playing. Unfortunately, I don’t think that there’s a way of getting the money back from the deleted letters.
When you look at buildings on your way to work and see possible jumping puzzles instead of your office.
