Deffinitly the black panther(er is it jaguar?), It does the most burst damage from what I’ve seen, I’ve even had it hit for a little above 9k with the help of utility skills and its F2 ability. It’s F2 ability makes it go invisible WHILE doing massive strikes on the enemy, absolutely great for ambushes!

On a side note, if you can get all lightning strikes to hit, the drake that shoots lightning from its mouth can also do some heavy burst.

Man, GW2 really dissapoints with their armor designs.

The only well designed armor is the t3 cultural in my opinion.

In which armor type (light, med, heavy)? For which race?

Either way, I think you’re on crack. There are several armors, across all 3 tiers that I personally love. I’m always game for more variety, but I think you’re not giving them enough of a chance if you’re that narrow.

Most of the t3 cultural for all races and types I like, besides that, there is only about 1 set I like per armor type.

Out of all the mmos I have played (warhammer online, aion, rift, tera, swtor) GW2 has some of the worst designs. GW2 just doesn’t have a lot of cool factor, a lot of designs are thick puffy dresses, trench coats and lady gaga/clown/jester masks and attire.

Chance to stack vulnerability on axe, bloodlust on focus. That combo will allow you to keep up on average 18 stacks of vulnerability, I’ve hit 25 stacks on multiple occasions as well.

The way I see it, why not take advantage of vulnerability stacking when axe auto attack stacks it, and so does focus. A constant 18-25% incomming damage is a big deal.

Anyone rocking a storm build?

Staff and glyph aoe is too random with long cooldowns. d/d is better controlled/reliable aoe, although riskier. I prefer s/d right now since it has superior single target burst but also moderate aoe.

IMO this game doesnt really have many opportunities to just nuke an area over and over since mobs and players are so mobile. I find it faster to kill single targets than to hope random falling fireballs will kill(or even hit at all) every target in an area. Plus it enhances my fun to pick out the weakest targets to exploit.

Ya I can’t picture the stormancer build being viable for solo pve or pvp but I can picture it doing well in wvw and dungeons.

A level 50 AoE/Storm build for PvE. Glyph traits, boon synergy, big Staff AoE, and vigor on crit because you’ll need the dodges AoEing packs of mobs . The lesser elemental glyph provides some aggro-distraction, and fire and water elementals have AoE snare abilities for those packs of mobs you’ll be murdering. The conjured bow and greatsword both have “storms”.

If you wanted to take it past level 60 (there are more effective options from my research so far, but to each his own), you could grab 30 in Fire for Persisting Flames and the conjure trait, or get Evasive Arcana (more AoE) and have some points to play with.

Cool stuff, ya I totally forgot the ice bow storm, thanks for posting.

Swoop damage bugged(greatsword)

in Ranger

Posted by: Edenwolf.6328

Edenwolf.6328

Ok so my main is a zerker guardian but for the past couple of weeks I’ve been enjoying my time with a ranger, using longbow and greatsword in pvp. After extensive play with the greatsword, it dawned apon me that something didn’t feel right, swoop was doing much less damage then the tooltip stated. So I started doing tests, compairing swoop to maul, and swoop to guardian abilities with similar tooltip values. To start the test I made sure that both guard and ranger did not have any stat or damage % boosts, however I used empower on guardian to make orb of light have similar tooltip values as swoop.

Here are the stats for my Ranger:
Attack: 3299
Crit damage: 62%

Guardian:
Attack: 3109
Crit damage: 62%

Here are the tooltip values for the Guardian attacks I’ll be testing with:
Mace auto attack chain 3: 1078
Staff orb of light(with 12 stacks of might): 1220

Ranger:
Swoop: 1242
Maul(excluding bleeding): 976

Here are my results, I made sure to demonstrate the highest attack out of many tries. As you can see, mace auto attack having close to 200 less tooltip damage, does significantly more then swoop. Staff orb of light with slightly less tooltip value does even more, swoop should have been hitting for similar values. Even maul with close to 300 less tooltip value still does a conciderable amount more, maul seems to be working, as it is in line with mace auto attack results.

With ranger having better attack, and swoop having the highest tooltip value of all the attacks, does the least amount of damage.

First of all, where did you get these numbers (I stopped reading when you blew my mind with your values). 5k on guardian third chain?! 3k on ranger third chain?! Both are wildly absurd. I’ve had 25 stacks of might, 50% crit damage (spvp) and hit a crit for maybe a 2.7k with guard third chain. 8k on whirling wrath? Plausible I guess if you have Unscathed Contender and your opponent is mentally ill.

Ive definitely crit for that high on both attacks, full zerker mode. Ya its rare but I’m just stating how high ive seen them hit for, I’ll try to get some screenshots tonight and post build.

Why GS weak in comparison to Gaurd/War/Mes

in Ranger

Posted by: Edenwolf.6328

Edenwolf.6328

I have a guardian as my main and would like to roll ranger but there are a couple things stopping me, my main concern is how bad greatsword damage is. It really boggles my mind that my zerker gaurd auto attack chain 3 skill can hit for 5k in pvp and my zerker ranger auto hits for 3k max, concidering ranger has significantly lower base damage on the skill(about 1000 on guard and 600-700 on ranger). On top of this, my guard GS splits utility and dps much like ranger, yet my guard has a burst skill that can crit for 8k, where maul only crits for measly 4k at best.

Warrior has heavy armor with highest health pool, guardian with heavy armor and easy uptime on protection in zerker build(and other defensive buffs) and ranger only has medium armor and medium health pool(with no protection in pure zerker build). Ranger, a class that seems to have the makings of a pure dps class(dps coupled trait lines, crit/crit damage and an attack haste utility) has a greatsword that has significantly worse damage then that of any greatsword wielding class.

I just cant justify as to why the damage is so kittening terrible. I’d like to see it at least brought up to guardian lvl damage.

Are you going for a legendary?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I want the legendary weapons simply because of how they look, they are the most epic looking weapons I have seen in any mmo to date, so much detail and fx(a few in peticular). Im talking my time and making most of my money on playing the trading post so I can actually enjoy the game.

Im currently working on the juggernaut, have been since January when I got the colossus in the mystic forge. Eventually I’ll be working on sunrise and flameseeker prophecies, I likely wont be starting them until the precursor is easier to get.

I’m currently working on getting as many t6 mats and molten lodestones as I can take befor giving up and spending my cash. I’m averaging 100 of each t6 mat, have exchanged about 10 charged lodestones for 40 molten(60 in total now) on trading post and have already made 77 clovers.

Upcoming changes to stealth (SoTG)

in Thief

Posted by: Edenwolf.6328

Edenwolf.6328

Tbh I’m actually looking forward to these changes with some degree of expectation.
I see what they are doing and agree with it (I’m a thief myself and play with 30 in Shadow Arts). They mentioned how they want the thief to be the MOST mobile profession in game and take back that role from the ele (that has it all… mobility/dmg/bunker/healing).

BUT (there is always a but) although im exited about the upcoming changes I’m kind of afraid the “compensation” for losing stealthiness and in some degree survivability my be not enough since it it a company policy to not do drastic changes and tweak things little by little.

Punishing stealth builds by triggering Revealed every time one gets out of stealth (not only wen attacking wile in stealth) IS in fact a drastic change.

Will the “compensation” for such nerf be also drastic? or simply small tweaks here and there and we will only see some kind of compensation for this nerf after the next 3-4 patches considering the little by little policy?

Sounds to me like they may have to spec a little into survivability if they want to last longer like every other class. Being able to spec glass cannon and hide in stealth on command is a little too powerful IMO.

Ive been hit for 8k by mug out in wvw, this is just crazy on top of the other hits. 8k mug, 8k cloak and dagger, 8k+ backstab all in 1.5 seconds = anyone dead. Yes I know cloak and dagger recieved a nerf, but out in wvw I still get hit by the occasional 8k surprisingly. IMO mug should only be critting for 3k max, 8k is just silly.

I always have a hard time figuring why people make comments like this about the burst combo… 8k+8k+8k… I’ve heard 10k+10k+10k too, both from victims of the combo and even from thieves themselves exaggerating about how hard they hit someone.

To start, the abilities don’t hit for the same damage. Backstab hits substantially harder than the others. Mug and C&D both hit for about the same as the middle damage tier on Heartseeker – basically a medium direct damage quantity. It just doesn’t make sense to claim that they all crit and all did roughly the same damage.

Second… Even for backstab to crit for 8k, you have to either hit a nearly paper thin target (little or no toughness), have damage cooldown (signet) and buffs, or have gear with an obscene amount of crit multiplier – or some combination of all that. To have the other two abilities both crit for that much (and backstab obviously for even more because it hits harder) you pretty much need celestial alignment.

It’s enough to complain about the combo with realistic numbers. Something like 4k Mug crit + 7.2k Backstab crit + 1.8k C&D non-crit (no particular order) on a decently built character. 13k in nearly an instant is worth complaining about.

I know they dont have same base values and no the numbers arnt exact, but those numbers are what they all AT LEAST hit me for within the 8000 range. It was more like 8.04, 8.3 and 8.9k. Its not impossible with variables like might stacking and assassin signent, I should mention he was running around with a friend and yes I instantly checked my combat log.

On another note, Mug is also supposedly being nerfed. While I never use the burst build that incorporates it, what’s the point of having the trait at all if the damage is non-significant? Instead of doing damage at all, it should be something like a short knockback that steals one boon. That sounds more “Mug”-ish to me, and it can be incorporated in to multiple builds as it’s not for one cheesy burst that was the complaint the devs themselves had about the trait.

Realistic buffs for the necromancer?

Edenwolf.6328

Ok so spam staff 1 and DS 1, thats a mighty strong long range power option :P

If you want direct damage, Life Blast with piercing / vulnerability stacking (and with might stacking, if you’re into that) is a legitimate ranged strategy. The major caveat is just keeping your life force above 50%. At that point, it outdamages the staff and axe auto-attack. (Ranged power options) It even out-damages the dagger chain if you’re hitting more than one target.

I appreciate what your trying to do but spamming 1 skill being DS 1 is neither fun, reliable(only useful above 50%) or long range(long range being a minimum of 1200 ft.

Please spare me with the “dont like it, play x class,” I’m just pointing out my opinion on what buffs I would like to see for the class that would complete my experience.

Realistic buffs for the necromancer?

Edenwolf.6328

Not every skill is 1200 range on items such as a scepter for guardian… for example orb of Wrath is 1,200 but Chains of Light is 900. Wave of Wrath on the staff for guardian is 600… so some skills have 1,200 but not every single one of them.

Utility =/= damaging abilities in the case I believe he is trying to describe. A utility that he is looking is condition removal, applying boons, healing, etc…. not doing damage such as applying bleed or a direct damage. For necros, the abilities on a staff have more utility along with the damage that the marks do… Mark of Blood not only bleeds the target but can apply a regen to allies. Putrid mark transfers conditions from allies to foes. Reapers mark fears.. etc. They all also have a combo field activator that does further abilities.

I made sure to point out skill on other weapons that have secondary effects that benefit group situations, not just deal damage. I feel that one must include forms of cc as well when talking about utility.

Would you say staff ele brings more support to a group or a support spec dagger ele?

DS 1=900 range power weapon.

Nice try, but no. Its funny atcually, its like necros are against having a ranged power option.

Every class is limited to a single 1200 range weapon without traits and a single 900 range weapon. All staves are utility weapons on every class, and for most classes the 900 range is a scepter . In our case we also have a 600 range weapon (axe/focus).

If you are confused as to how a 600 is ranged than let me direct you to basic math. When something is next to you we call it melee, if something is farther away from next to you it’s considered ranged. Since melee is considered anything within 200, and axe is at 600. Basic math says 600>200 therefore 600 axe = range power weapon. Since DS 1 > 600 therefore DS 1 = ranged

I’m sorry if you failed to read the rest of the thread, but I said long ranged power option.

Most of everything you said is also false, there is no rule that every class can have only 1 1200 range option, in fact, rangers have 2 1200 ranged weapons, and technically so does guardian. About the bit on staves being utility only, ele staffs deal heavy aoe dps, and to say necro staff is utility only is false, its a key compontent in dealing aoe condition damage. You should probly refer to basic class mechanics/abilitys and then edit your false information.

I will reiterate the part you missed (Every class is limited to a single 1200 range weapon without traits). Everything the ele is does is heavy aoe and it is well known that the staff is really their utility weapon. Your failure to understand this is not on me. The staff can be used in power builds as well as condition builds, because it’s key component is that it provides a lot of utility (condition removal, fear, chill, regen).

What you fail to see is that every weapon has utility, equal to, greater, or lesser than staves. Ele is a prime example, their mechanic is versatility in any shape or form, all their weapons and attunements bring different types of utility, not at all limited to staff. In Ele’s case, their weapon choice dictates at what range they would like to play from.

Ranger, guardian and mesmer have 2 1200 ranged weapons untraited. This right here allows ANY class to have 2 1200 ranged options without breaking the mold.

Just a few examples of none staff related utility:

Guardian Mace/shield- Great group utility here, equal to that of staff.

Necro scepter- Condition damage, poison and aoe cripple.

Guardian hammer- Lots of crowd control, high damage, aoe protection buff.

Ele- daggers can give many aura’s, when traited those aura’s are shared to all those around. Dagger also brings heavy cc and plentiful strong healing skills to heal allies. I would say a support dagger ele brings even more ulility to the group then a staff ele.

I’m not saying staves don’t have any utility, I’m just pointing out that they, like most other weapons, share utility and dps based skills.

I’m sorry if you failed to read the rest of the thread, but I said long ranged power option.

Ignoring what bas and bhawb have already said, you know, there is this thing every necro should carry, its a big stick, you use it to smack people, from 1410 range, with giant black claws that home for 1200 range and then fly straight for another 210 (distance to middle of a mark then range of ranger greatsword attack from the middle of it). If you really dont want to use DS, but still have long range and do direct damage, use it, since you wont get another option.
Weapons that might happen in terms of effects is aoe control/projectile reflection offhand and melee cleave.

Ok so spam staff 1 and DS 1, thats a mighty strong long range power option :P

We dont need any more ranged options. Just need melee cleave or a massive overhaul of the axe auto attack.

Deffinitly need a long ranged power option.
