We should also ban non competitive classes from WvW as well. I mean whats worse than getting stomped by that enemy zerg with ascended gear? Getting stomped over and over again because some people don’t understand classes like ranger have no value in WvW.

These need to go, they are making it extremely difficult to get some dungeons like Arah and CoE done because often nobody is there to complete the event, or keep the dungeon from falling into enemy hands.

Usually you just force your group to take care of the event, but with more people using the lfgsite it is impossible for many groups to do the dungeon opening events because groups are made up of people on many different servers. This leaves many groups with nothing to do but wait and hope someone opens up the dungeon.

These events just need to go, they were fun at release when there were hordes of people to do them and to keep the dungeons open, but how they are just an impassable obstacle for many groups that prevents them from even entering a dungeon.

It’s already been stated but a ranger without a pet is like a mesmer without clones. You are free to want but you want, but if ranger pet is such a problem you should just reroll as something else.

Bads are going to create arbitrary stupid rules of who can who cannot join instances regardless of what is useful in dungeons.

I mean who in the right mind says no to necromancers? Necros are one of the best aoe damage classes in the game thanks to epidemic.

Just be glad that they have declared their stupidity to you in their “only classes x or y” statements and put as great a distance between yourself and their incompetence as possible.

Thief seems just… really really boring for PvE. 99% of the time you are just spamming cluster bomb or pistol whip over and over.

Simply leveling one was painful for me, I can’t imagine trying to do something like a HotW boss without falling asleep as a thief.

The problem with portal bombing is that it makes mesmer god tier in WvW and forces almost every mesmer in a decent WvW guild to use portal.

People are openly talking about the need for more mesmers and more portals in my guild at times.

No other class can have the huge impact on the battlefield that mesmers can atm.

Put it this way, if you have a lvl 80 geared character of any other class and a lvl 80 geared mesmer, what possible reason could you have to bring the other class?

I’m pretty sure only the “host” ie the person who first attempts to enter the dungeon must have completed story mode. I did a run of TA explorable a couple days ago with a guildie who claimed that he had not run TA story.

Everything went fine they entered the dungeon with no problems and completed it.

Pathing and targeting issues are the only real problem with pets for necros. They have fairly short cooldowns, that you can make shorter via a toughness talent and theres another toughness talent that allows you to benefit from their deaths with a fairly long lasting poison dot.

I just wish they gave us points for death shroud, unless I’m mistaken only Flesh golem seems to do that.

My problem with mesmer portal is I enjoy playing both my mesmer and my necromancer. But at the moment there is no real reason to bring my necromancer over my mesmer.

Really even if I level up another class theres just no ability out there that is strong enough to compete with portal.

Its not about portal being “uncounterable” or “Unfair”, its the face that portal pretty clearly outclasses every other utility slot in the game in terms of the options it opens up for a player in WvW.

Either it needs to be nerfed or we need to see engineers with bombs strong enough to take down walls in short order, ect.

The problem with thieves and mesmers is rendering, often they are intended to be visible yet their models haven’t loaded yet for the enemy, so they get 1-2 extra seconds of invisibility that they can even use to attack with.

This is double with mesmer clones as many moves that create a clone and move or invisible the mesmer have a delay on the enemy screens for both the clone and the real mesmer to show up.

Minions can be fun in PvP if you use that AoE retaliation buff combo. Everyone runs in GRR IMA AOE THOSE WEAK MINIONS, and promptly explodes.

The problem with glass cannon melee necros is necromancers lack any real access to stability.

There’s really not much a necromancer can do against a class with multiple stuns/knockdowns. And if they are a glass cannon build once you knock them down they aren’t getting back up.

Mesmer portal is stupid powerful in WvW. You have to scour every nook and cranny of a keep or a tower to hunt for mesmers or they will just teleport their whole server back into the place without having to bother to seiging it. With towers it’s not such a big deal but the outer wall on some of these keeps gives mesmers quite a few areas to hide. The abilty of mesmers to get whole groups past gates and walls makes it the single most powerful profession in WvW bar none.

Honestly everyone seems to be picking up on this “clever” tactic and pretty soon everyone who enjoys WvW will be rolling a mesmer because of how powerful portal is. Eventually majority of our time in WvW will be spend hunting a class that can go invisible for long periods of time in the hopes of preventing them from bypassing the very mechanics that make WvW special. May as well just rename WvW “Mesmer Hide and Seek Match”.

Mesmer portal is working as intended but its working far too well, I hope it can be adjusted in a way that still makes the ability unique and interesting without leaving it in the overpowered state its in.

Yeah I’m about to just stop playing necromancer in pvp, our minions just stand around while we die, we have absolutely no stability. Hammer warriors are so much fun to fight, you can dodge all your want your still going to end up lying down most of the fight as a necromancer. The only really viable spvp 8v8 build we seem to have is to spam wells on the enemy team and hope they aren’t smart enough to move out of them.

As far as im aware the add-ons for the Superior Runes of Sanvir are;

+25 Toughness
+20% Frozen Duration
+50 Toughness
-50% Frozen Duration

Just tested them and yea it doesn’t increase the duration of chill anymore, meaning the 4th add-on is indeed 50% less Chill duration taken.

Yeah I misread the rune, I thought I must be missing something because it seemed too obvious.

I really like this build and the theme it goes for, I just wish this build was more practical. Half of my opponents in spvp seem to be thieves and chills cooldown increase doesn’t effect them much since they use initiative rather than cooldowns for their moves.

Different classes are different. Necromancer can shift conditions from allies on to enemies with a weapon attack, alot of classes can’t do that even with utilities.

Combos are ment to be in group play rather than just one guy making and using his own combo finishers anyway.

WvWvW will eventually die unless these are attended to.

Only thing I agree with is hacking, everything else is a L2P issue.

Fights run 24 hours and thats not changing.

Upgrading is something you should be spreading the costs out to the entire guild, if your guild is unwilling to share the costs of a keep or tower, then don’t claim it.

Zerg mentality is a player issue, people will l2p or they won’t.

Because when your a minion necro in 8v8 who focuses on casting aoe retaliation on you and your pets, people don’t even try to fight you after a couple of rounds.

So to answer the OP I like taking one of the “weaker” classes and using it to butcher “scary” rogues and warriors. Feels good man.

Seriously, if your on a server thats losing you might want to try, I dunno, a battering ram?

I’m on Anvil Rock and I keep hoping we will organize and make a comeback one of these days, but if people are going to try to take towers by slamming their face into a gate for 15 minutes until the enemy comes and chases them off its not going to work.

Is WvW simply too complicated for the majority of MMO players? Build seige, take tower, doesn’t really seem like rocket science but nobody wants to do it on my server.

A big part of GW2s problem is pvp is complicated and most of the players don’t really understand it yet.

You complain about thieves going stealth to down enemies, but there is another class that is much worse.

Elementalists can simply go mist form to either down an enemy or raise an ally, in this form they are basically immune to all damage except conditions previously applied to them.

So if an elementalist wants you dead and your downed theres basically nothing anyone can do about it.

I know this because I play elementalist in pvp, a class that everyone says is “terrible” in pvp, but seems to be rather powerful if you know what your doing.

I had a warrior run up and whirlwind me, only instead of zipping past me he seemed to simply stick to me and hit me with 100% of the damage. Killing me in about 1 second.

Not sure if it was a hack or a bug but yeah lots of shady stuff seems to happen in WvW.

But I will agree that Moa destroying all your pets and being able to counter other elites like Lichform is pretty OP, and this is coming from someone who has a lvl 65 mesmer.

I’m starting to think Moa should let players keep their utility skills at least, if that makes it UP then the mesmer will have to start using Time Warp, like they should be in the first place.

Conjured Weapons Useless?

Some of them are useful some of them aren’t. The Hammer is great for pve because of how quickly it blinds with its attack. You can take out a group of enemies in melee without taking any damage with it.

The Elite is also pretty powerful. But I have yet to find a use for the other three. I mean maybe the axe or bow would be useful for a MH dagger ele just for a backup ranged weapon, but thats about it.

And WTF is up with that shield, theres no reason you could ever have to use up all the charges on that weapon because the attacks are just so weak. I mean you could use it for the invul but then you would have to drop that shield like a rock. =P

I keep seeing people shouting around that they are a “tank speced warrior” when they are lfg for dungeons.

What exactly are they trying to accomplish by building a difficult to kill character at the expense of damage?

I mean they have no way to hold aggro so their teammates are going to die just as fast, they can’t tank FOR their group members.

I guess they could focus running around healing downed teammates, but you don’t really need to be tank speced to do that, I mean if you and your target are being buried under a mound of attacks or aoes getting your ally up is going to be near impossible anyway.

So why not just bring a balanced spec instead of trying to force the trinity into a game where it does not belong? I mean is dodging really so hard that they need tank spec just not to die ever 3-4 seconds?

Dungeons are challenging, so alot of people are still focusing on leveling and learning the games mechanics instead of throwing themselves into dungeons for cosmetic gear that they aren’t even aware of yet.
