I have a different request.

I somehow managed to hook my girlfriend to the game (she has only played Diablo 3 and LOTRO), and bought her HoT so she doesn’t run around as F2P (physical copy as she likes to keep the boxes around, should arrive soon)

I would really like to gift her a copper salvage-o-matic (she saw mine and now she is drooling about it), but right now I lack the RL money, gems, or golds to get it. I have around 80g to my name, I blame my heavy alt addiction that prevent me from playing my level 80 characters (so far, only necromancers, and not geared) so I can’t seem to get enough money together to get the needed gems. I plan on gifting her aswell the collection expansion (to hold 500 items instead of 250) and that will leave me completely broke

I would like to ask (and I know it’s a lot to ask) for some charity (either in form of some golds to purchase it, or much better, just the item itself) to get her the copper salvage-o-matic. Her GW2 id is QueenZherg.3647

I’m sorry but this is the one class that i don’t trust meta battle for. Use it as a guideline, but more optimal builds exist.

Links to those builds would probably be much more useful to the original poster — who clearly isn’t in the market for theorycrafting their own — than just the assertion.

I’m interested in that also, just to see what the differences are.

No, but grabbing the fractal build and swapping in movement speed or something is the easy way to get there. The difference between general “open world” builds and fractal builds tends to be how much utility is assumed and/or how much group support it focuses on.

You won’t miss much running one, and also, you won’t really find many “open world” guides out there — the answer is “anything works, so use whatever”. Hence grab the fractal build, and tune it a little to what you miss.

(For example, I run the condition reaper build, save for subbing in the sigil of the locust for move speed, rather than blood is power.)

I’ll do that then! I wasn’t sure which kind of builds would be a good starter, so I will check the Fractal ones, and pick one as base.

Hi all,

I used my 80 boost on a new necromancer (this would be my third…and my first one doing the map completion). I got a full Rabid set, and all skills/traits unlocked (except for reaper ones).

I would love to run a minions build and start working towards 100% map completion. I only do PvE, and rarely do dungeons/raids. 99% of my time is solo open world PvE

What spec could I use? What should I aim to once I unlock Reaper? Getting new gear is ok (not gonna happen in 1 day, but I’ll work on it if needed).

I came back 2 weeks ago after a loong rest, levelling a ranger now, but I’m missing some necro action

I refuse to drop a cent onto GW2 until the trait system is reworked. Will check again in some weeks

Meh, I just realized I posted this in the wrong forums, can a mod move it to the bugs forums, please?

Since the patch, I can’t change the A3/A4 skills on my level 23 engineer. I am stuck with what is there (Rocket turret and Rifle turret). I click the little arrow, I see all the utilities I have bought, but when I select a new one, they dont swap

Any idea how to fix it? I can change healing skill or A2 skill fine

I wonder what would be the best setup for levelling. I’m currently trying bomb kit and flamethrower (turrets for events), I didnt like the grenade kit. What would be the best utilities for levelling? Also, which heal? I tried first aid kit but it seemed weird and difficult to use

You can reuse the name inmediatly, but I would suggest do not deleting it, and just having some kind of surname added to your name character (for example, if you first char is called ABCD, make the new one ABCD II or somehting)

If you delete it, you will lose that char for anniversary purposes, is the char time that counts, not the account time

I think I will go with wells and siphons, something like this:

With celerity runes so I can slot 2-3 wells, plus golem and either well of blood or consume conditions.

Gear I have got mostly berserker, but some runes with toughness/vitality as well. Not sure about what runes to use in my weapones, 5% damage/7% crit?

Is berserker only enough to survive? Or is it worth to invest in some Soldier or Knight pieces?

My build is some piece of crap I did with the few traits I got while levelling, and really not worth sharing :P I’ll check the guides and see what I find, and then I’ll start farming the traits

I’m going dagger/warhorn- staff (aoe god at events), and for utilities im using well of suffering, spectral armor (swiftness), and signet of locust, golem as elite

Where can I get the gear? Crafted? Bazar? Karma?

So I just hit 80 on my necro (my first char), and I have very little idea of what to do now. I plan on finishing my personal story and explore maps, no PvP, maybe some dungeon runs but nothing hardcore

What gear should I get? I have some money from lucky drops and around 150k karma.

I was thinking on a Guardian (so heavy armour), but if Medium armour provides good results, I might make it a Thief.

I’m going Dagger/Warhorn + Staff.

D/Wh provides high single target DPS and speed buff. Staff is amazing for tagging mobs during events or just mark-bomb 5-10 mobs and then DS#4 them to death

I’m using Well of Suffering as my only utility skill. The other 2 are the signet of speed and spectral walk (for speed bost while travelling). Speed travelling is the most important thing to me, since is where I spent most of the time. Golem as elite, because it’s a permanent DPS boost (at least, when he attacks).

Level 46 so far, having great fun and feeling pretty strong overall. Good ST and great AoE.

For traits I’m using blood magic and spite (self-healing)

I don’t find anything particularly challenging right now (I’m level 17 so no traits and other stuff), I was just looking for tips and pointers in the good direction, which you provided I have start using more and more the dagger tho, and its an improvement unless I have to AoE, where staff spam + DS#4 is just pure awesomeness.

I also tried well of suffering instead of the power signet, I’m undecided between the both of them, so I want my 3rd skill slot NOW xD

I can’t find a semi up-to-date levelling guide. I’m using Staff/Dagge-Warhorn for levelling (although I use the Staff 95% of the time), with consume conditions, signet of speed, and signet of +power (sorry I don’t remember the names)

What do you recommend? I’m only doing PvE, (filling maps and doing events), and I have no interest in PvP

Please note that im not a PvP player, I only play PvE, and most of the time is just open world questing/roaming/DE (playing solo, no dungeons/fractals)

I returned from a long break a few days ago and I’ve been levelling a few classes to 7-15 to have a look at them. I have found the thief quite powerful and interesting so I have a question:

Can I get some kind of perma-stealth? In order to be able to easily skip moves (for example exploring caves or trying to reach nodes/PoIs/map completion/whatever). I played a burglar on LOTRO and loved this

I’m level 15 right now, using Sword/Pistol or Dagger/Pistol (dagger seems more bursty, but sword gives me cleave), and shortbow (helps to me to tag mobs in events)

How is the thief at higher levels? Is it easy to tag mobs in DEs for loot/farming?

As I said, this is jut for open world PvE, events, etc. Necromancer is not an option since I already levelled one on launch, and I want to try a different class.

I’m mostly deciding now between Ele and Thief. Guess I will try both during a week or so. I dont like Ranger-type classes, and I’m not really fond of plate-wearers. I used to play Burglar and RK in Lotro and I guess Ele and Thief will be the most similar.

I bought GW2 on launch, but stopped playing after 3 months since all my friends left the game. I want to start again, but nowadays I dont have a lot of time to commit to group play, so I plan on playing solo most of the time.

The thing is, i love everything about GW2 except the boring PvE end game. I love the WvW, the PvP, the mechanics and just the world in general. I would hate to leave the game because to me it could have been so much more. Right now i’m bored as hell while waiting for the WvW to reset since theres nth left for me to do in pve.

Play one game for one thing, other game for the other? Thats what I do

Hi, I’m reaching 80 (75 now) with my noob necromancer, and I was wondering…which salvage kit should I use and when? Do you use anything else than the lowest one for blues/greens? The yellow one for yellows?

I know that this class has a lot of bugs, a lot things that are UP or make no sense

Regardless, is the most fun class I have tried. I have played most of the class up to level 15/20, and I always come back to my necro (which now is my higgest char at level 50)

I used a minion build until level 30 or so. It was great when the minions are alive and hitting, not so great when they start dying due to some aoe or just stand still. I switched to a well setup and im having greart fun with it. I know other classes can do the same in less time, but hell, I have STYLE

Some questions. At level 40 I got a full power blue armor set (I wanted to buy a new set at 50 but seems the next set is for level 55, will wait a bit :P)

Not sure how to gear/trait anyway. How much important is crit/toughness?

As my traits, im going Blood Magic (Bloodthirst and Well recharge) and Death Magic (greater marks and staff mastery). Not sure which trait tree to start now. Suggestions?

Im going Staff/Dagger+WH. Using Well of Blood, Well of Suffering, Well of Corruption, and for my last skill im switching beetween Signet of the Locust (general travellig), BiP (inside places where I only fight one or two mobs at a time), and Epidemic/Poison cloud for events (depends on my mood :P ) Is this okey or would you change anything?
