Character's face changed after today's patch

So, I specifically bought a Total Makeover Kit a while ago to give the kind of blind, prophetic look to my Guardian. After the addition of faces today, it has changed. I checked the female human version of this face and it still is there. My norn, who is a mimic of my human, still has the same look going on.

I’m really quite bummed out about this and do hope a hotfix reintroduces the original face my character had in the game again.

Thanks for doing this thread! I was wondering what the potential of a power/healing build would be? Would it be even worth it? I just started a ranger as my main alt or even possibly my new main depending how much I enjoy the new specialization. My main is a Guardian, but never really could get a good mix between power/healing as one think would fit the theme of a Guardian, but I digress. I do a lot of WVW roaming, Fractals, and open world events.

I think this is an unfair and not entirely accurate statement. Two of the three original founders left shortly after Guild Wars 2 was even teased in 2007 (remember the PCGamer magazine) and before that, they were more involved with other NCSoft entities.

MMOs will always have a grind. Where is all the complaints about the ridiculous grind we had in Guild Wars 1? Title reputation grinds? Now, I am no Colin Johanson fan, but he made a real legitimate point in a recent interview. To paraphrase, he talked about having such limited time and resources to implement all the Guild Wars: Prophecies quests and story line with like a week before launch. Guild Wars launched. People ruthlessly criticized the game, et cetera. Guild Wars 2 launched and GW1 instantly became the best game ever?

To the @OP, I participated in the beta events and I am almost certain hearts existed during those beta weekends. I am not entirely sure when you played during 2012 but they’ve definitely been implemented since launch.

I’m not really experiencing many load in problems like others have stated (seventeen seconds to load in the heart of Lion’s Arch). I am still experiencing really high ping issues, it’s not a fault of my ISP and never experienced it with the 32-bit client.

Also, here is a picture of specs and my graphic settings, seems to be doing well, outside of Eternal Battlegrounds, no real issue in the Borderlands, et cetera.

I was experiencing some stuttering and high ping, I set my refresh rate to 60hz in the settings and the performance was much better, but still had some graphic, lag, and other to be expected issues.

My pings are averaging about 41 right now.

Hmm, interesting. I am not sure what is causing it, it’s not an issue of my ISP but my ping seems to shoot up between 300-700 when I launch the 64-bit client, whereas the 32-bit I would have a consistent 20-40 ping

I do see that we’re missing a Windowed Full Screen mode, which I think contributes to the issue of not being able to use F1-F4 if they’re bound to other actions outside of GW2 (at least how this is how it worked for me with the 32-bit client).

I noticed some graphical bugs, where I would lay down my guardian’s symbol and rotate the camera, and the symbol will disappear (continued to do the damage).

I echo the rigidness of how it currently is but I am sure that will be fixed. I am finally so excited to finally play with some settings higher than LOW!!

Forgot to mention – is anyone else having insanely high ping?

Wow. Talk about serious cherry picking and forgetfulness. Your perception is clearly your reality. I am in serious doubt you even play Guardian by the way you reply.

Explain to me how shield or even focus, after you even stated that “torch is already mandatory for power builds,” and yet moments later have the gull to even deny that torch will be a must use for a condition based build since it’s the only offhand weapon that applies any condition, will see any use in PvE if this elite specialization will be a condition based specialization?

I said torch is mandatory for DPS builds. You seem to forget that torch is a pretty good power weapon, too, and does more damage than shield and focus even on power stats. Yet, shield and focus are seeing use.

And that’s because shield is used for cc and projectile hate, not damage. Focus has good damage, too, but more importantly it offers some survivability at the same time.

So, the two weapons will be used for the same reasons regardless of what axe does, in the same modes they are used now. Also, firebrands are not forced to use axe to begin with.

I expected this response. No real answer to my question about how shield or focus would see more play time over torch in a condition based specialization. To your point of Firebrands not being forced to use axe to begin with, how would scepter, greatsword, hammer, or any of the other weapons be able to compete with no condition damage tied to them as opposed to the axe that you are so inclined to be condition? Here is your quote to accommodate you: “I have no doubt axe is condi, all our weapons are pure power, how could it be anything else?”

I acknowledged that torch is mandatory for optimal dps for POWER builds (see my quote below). Hell, you could not even address my original quip about how poorly torch is designed. Have you ever used it? How is the accuracy of torch 4? How many times do you use torch 5?

Sure, torch is required for optimization, but have you ever played a Power build in PvP/WvW with torch? No, because it’s not designed well, (my point in my original post) which you do not address, instead you point out something that is so blatantly obvious to anyone who mains Guardian.

My recommendations are to prevent gameplay that forces players to play one way. You clearly do not care to read before making posts so innately ridiculous.

I hope the “initiative” bar has nothing to do with the tomes. I am not completely sold on the idea of axe being a condition weapon or Firebrand/Purifier as a condition based specialization for Guardian yet, as it would completely render shield and focus as useless and force us to use torch in our offhand (which is arguably our most poorly designed weapon IMO). But to kind of compromise between power and condition, here is my idea:

I would like to see the initiative bar act in reverse as it does for thief. For example, a successful auto attack (number 1) would generate one initiative. Once you generate the six or so initiative your number 2 and 3 attack) would also afflict torment onto the target (the stacks should be at fairly substantial, maybe one stack per initiative). Once this occurs, your initiative bar is reset and your chain starts over. I think this would offer good synergy with other traitlines, namely Zeal/Radiance for the passive burning applications based off symbols, while maintaining some power damage.

Axe autoattack would be three chains, first chain single hit, second chain two hits, third chain would one hit and our symbol that pulses quickness to five targets. Melee range.
Axe 2-3 would operate as 900 range. Preferably offering some sort of piercing or cc to help Guardians in that department

There’s exactly 0 chance the initiative bar is tied to the axe, they have never tied a new profession mechanic to the new weapon.

I have no doubt axe is condi, all our weapons are pure power, how could it be anything else? As for the off-hand, focus and shield are not used for damage anyway, but for their utility, and will continue to be used for the same reason. Torch is already mandatory for power DPS builds.

Please read my post one more time. I never stated the initiative bar should be tied to axe only. My post was to find that median between power and condition damage, which proves that it should not be a weapon based purely off of condition damage. Why in the world would we get one condition based weapon out of the 10 we currently can use? If it is solely based off conditions, that will completely force players who enjoy optimization to play one way, killing off the fairly decent build diversity we have right now.

Also, I stated that attacks 1-3 should be tied to it, implying all weapons. (see bold) This would introduced unused skills in rotation, namely PVE where skills like Zealot’s Defense or Leap of Faith see no time in any proper rotation.

A thought occurred to me … since I play both Edge of the Mists and The Mist War … does all of this only apply to The Mist War, or does it apply to Edge of the Mists also?

Skirmishes are only part of The Mist War and not part of EoTM. Because of that pips cannot be earned while in EoTM. However, vendors for both the backpack and skirmish rewards will be in EoTM in case of queues.

EOTM will be dead come Tuesday. Pretty unfortunate.

This is what I am afraid of. Torch offhand. I honestly don’t know why this isn’t more of a concern. If it is a condition based spec, ANET will have effectively made focus and shield completely useless and force us to use the most poorly designed weapon we have.

I have not been able to find anything related to this issue, forgive me if I have overlooked.

I have been having a constant issue within the past three months where my client crashes the entire computer. I have thought it was a ram issue, reseated the memory, PRAM reset, replaced the memory, and the issue still persists. The computer freezes for about a second or two, then goes completely black and reboots. There is not an error message either. It usually happens twice a day when loading or tabbed out looking at websites.

I know a new Mac client is on the horizon, but it makes it very hard to play the game. I also play the game on the lowest settings across the board to try to eliminate the amount of crashes.

Specs below:
3.5 GHZ Intel Core i7
16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
GeForce GTX 780M 4GB
Computer is up to date on all macOS updates.

If anyone has any recommendations or would like me to perform some sort of additional diagnostic, please let me know! I’m completely out of ideas.

You can go to the other race’s starter areas (there are portals in Divinity’s Reach, or you should have one waypoint in each starter zone). Once you get a couple levels there, you can proceed through Kryta… It will also be helpful in map completion, too.

I’ve been having this issue where my Mac goes completely black and restarts. Ran a diagnostic and it’s not a hardware issue. Any suggestions? Seems to happen at least once a day while playing GW2

4. The weakest symbol in the game with the weakest boon and you get rooted while casting and the highest cd of all symbols. Nice!
I would like to make it ground targeting in a 600 – 900 radius and leaps the guardian to the aimed location when casted. This would give the GS a unique symbol skill, no other weapon has and a role as a mobility melee weapon.

I like this a lot!

I think sword/shield would be better over greatsword. It should not only net more power damage, but more symbol up-time (more burning) and provide you with that additional attempt to block with shield 4 to provide more synergy with Amplified Wrath. If you go sword/shield, I’d probably also would take Right Hand Strength to allow a symbol every eight seconds rather than ten. For Virtues, I’d also probably run Master of Consecrations over Unscathed Contender. Also, it’s probably personal preference, I like the condition removal much more in Absolution Resolution than I do the functionality of Virtuous Solace (if you play this in WvW/PVP, all opposing players need is a stability to walk in and ruin your day).

Looks like a neat build regardless. I am sure there would be much better criticism as I am still fairly new to GW2 as a whole.

I opened a ticket about this to try and shed some more light on the issue… This was what they suggested…

Thank you for the update.

I would like you to stop any applications that may be automatically starting in the background when you turn on your computer. When you remove these applications from the startup list, you may want to make note of them so you can manually re-add them in the future if you wish. Doing this will help us determine if another program is interfering with your ability to run Guild Wars 2.

Please do the following:

On the Finder menu bar, click Go > Applications > System Preferences.
Under the System header open “Accounts.”
Choose your account on the left.
Click the “Login Items” button on the right.
Select any items in the list and click the minus button below the list one at a time until the list is empty.
On the Finder menu bar, click Go > Computer.
Open your Hard Drive.
Click System > Library > and Startup Items.
Remove any applications that are listed here.
Once all items are removed from both locations please restart your computer and try the game again. If the issue persists, please let us know.

Just crashed at shaman

I have been getting the same exact crash prompts for the past two days. It really makes it unplayable because it happens from anywhere from two minutes within logging in the game to thirty minutes. Rough.
