if it wasn’t clear that it was going to return someday.. you know like how chaos skins just returned and aetherized skins? you buy a skin because you want it, if you like the look of it then good for you, you should be buying skins because they fit a theme of your character, if it was worth 3000g to you then, then nothing changed now.

Hello, long time thief player with thousands of hours play, both in pvp and pve. I wanted to talk about the thief and its meta, what DD brought to thief, what it could have been and why dodges might have been a bad idea.

1st thief is an amazing fun class, the play style is completely different than any other, the ability to spam skills, go in and out of fights is very unique, many players dont agree with this play style, but thats why there are warriors and guards for them

But its hard to balance for PvE/PvP due to its uniqueness. but there is a way!

The best new mechanic that no one is talking about or added detail to.

Physical Skill, Impact Strike!
This skill is very unquie and has some of the highest potential in a skill Ive seen in ALL gw2 history.

Why? b.c of its 1>2>3 Combo, this was something GW1 did for the assassin alot, it was a good mechanic in gw1, but in gw2 its AMAZING. It is Amazing for 1 reason Balancing PvP and PvE is hard to balance we all know and we know PvP is balanced before PvE.

Having more Skill with 1>2>3 (or 1>2 and even 1>2>3>4) is so easy to balance, here is why, In PvP getting 2 hits, 3 hits and 4hits in a row with 1 skill is hard to do, with blinds, blocks, dodges, player moveing, teleporting, traits proc’ing, invuls etc.. etc.. its almost impossible without a good set up to pull off 3-4 hit combos for a Skill WITH and Animation, BUT in PvE its not.

In PvE you can have 3-4 hit combos from 1 skill hit almost everytime, But not so much in pvp.

Skill Ideas

Weak Spots: 1>2>3 3rd hit puts Debuff on the Mob, Increasing all sources of damage by 15% for 10sec.

Shinning Blade: 1>2>3 Throw Reflectiing Shurikens, if all hits for the next 5sec, your crits deal 50% more damage and Blinds target for 5sec

Fake out: 1>2, 1st hit Blinds target 5sec, 2hit teleports behind giving Reveal Debuff and striking for Huge damage

Fatality 1>2>3>4, A brutal set of hits if all connects it removes the Break bar (or daze 3sec), granting 5 allies Quickness for 5sec

These are just small ideas. I feel that the 1>2>3 mechanic could really add more to the thief, giving it a better balance in PvP and PvE, making it more useful and wanted but at the same time not forcing players to Need it or want it.

Im sitting on 6 atm, I made Carcharias, killing all the sharks from around the different areas got them for me, I 1st thought I needed them for Carcharias but you dont.

1) Make Toughness Slightly higher
2) Lower HP at least by 35%
3) Give bosses slightly more Sustain damage
4) Daily 51-75

Before you get made that I say more Toughness, But with less HP and some sustain damage, this will open up options for Condi builds and even some healing within the party (or better game play).

Atm the Bosses are just to boring and long, it is highly discouraging.

Any word on Map completion Bug yet?

There is not always a daily, today 51-100 want the daily (and this is the most important one to do but we cant do it).

There is no point to do Higher levels now (once you get the AP for doing them one time). You will just do the easiest levels in that tier;
1-20) 2, 10, 20
21-50) 21, 30, 32, 40
51-100) 56, 57, 60, 67, 70

Also why is it 51-100? and not 51-75 and 76-100 like to match the Fotm AP????

The bosses HP is just WAY to high, you will just sit there pounding them over and over and over and over and over again. It REALLY!!!!!! Pushes Zerker meta even harder now more than every!!!

Granted I made something like 700g from fotm now (but I sold my ALL my Fotm rewards that even includes the 1 time reward for doing lv 1-20, 21-50, 51-75). And I sold the boxes and AR you get FROM DAY ONE of the patch, AR was 10s+ easily, within a few weeks it will be less than 3s for one, and I will never have access to those One time rewards ever again.

Reality is, you aren’t going to power grind everything on day one. It’s good to have some longer term goals to keep the interest going.

Unlocking the merchants is most of the work for collections, such as the mistward gear.

This has nothing to do with power grinding at all, Im not talking about finishing it in 1-2weeks Im talking about withing the next 6months or more, I never said all in 1 day/week/month.

Im talking about there is a Limited amount of Mastery Points in Hot, that will require you to do things either you will NOT be able to do, do them over 100, or even over 1000x just to get.

Not if you some other things tho, like the Collections.

After looking at how to get all the Mastery’s and how many is needed to max out Mastery’s.

You will need to find almost everyone, do all the Story AP and get silver/gold in almost every adventure just to make it.

Honestly I dont want to get gold in many of those adventures, they are fun but redoing it 100+ times to mean is terrible.

Im fine with needed skill and time, but I know many casual players will never max out mastery’s due to Not being able to get Mastery Points.

It just seems there are not enough in the game for most players, I personally will be able max them out, but many of my friends will never without giving there account info out to another player that can.

What are your thoughts on this?

Rewards are only from “dailies” and NOT from the actually fotm now.

So if a daily is 51-100 you can do the 3 easiest Dailies and get rewarded the Same for doing lv 98-100 (other than some +1’s and a few relic’s, mind you that no one see thoses as rewards b.c you get them all the time).

After the 1st time you do “Higher” levels there is NO reason to do them again other than if a daily says “Do a level 87”.

I Like the ALOT of things about these new fotms, but the daily system need to add sometype of scale to give bonus chances of Tonics/boxes/fotm weapons for completing higher tiers.

Suggestion Have another Daily for level 85+

I wanted a Karka Dungeon in SSC but we all know that aint happening never.

A thief can Remove D in seconds on command during anypart of the fight and can use stealth on command, also thief can have more blinds.

Stuff like CM, Arah and some Fotms thief is better, but Engi is also better in many places.

This isnt “What class is better Thief or Engi” its all situational.

Just like Guardian Vs Mesmer, you dont always need a guard, Mesmer is better sometimes.

If I cant win I just disengage and leave.

I stealth to a weak player blow them up and spike, then move to the next.

I tried Dire when it was Pop
I tried perp when it was Pop
I tried Valk d/d when it was Pop
I tried S/D when it was Pop

And Zerk D/P just feels right to me.

Sometimes you just have to play what is fun and feels good to you.

OP, I don’t think you understand magic find. It’s not more likely to give you a precusor, at least not directly. It’s just more likely to give you a rare or higher drop. The only way to test it would be to count the drops from kills over a long period of time on characters of vastly different mf levels.

And remember even a pile of vile or putrid essence is still counted as a rare. I believe the real thing with magic find is that, by not affecting bags and chests (except in PvP) it has a very small affect on our overall wealth.

lets just say a T6 mat to drop is 0.5%, with 300% MF thats only a 1.5% now

Not much when you look at it like that, so yeah it does seem like it is fake, also with many of the new events NOT giving us mob kill drops it may feel even worst.

*Note: the 0.5% is a made up number based off what I feel T6 drops are in open world from mob kills only, I pulled this number out my kitten .

The best part about the cap is for sure that it isnt FORCE for you to do for years over and over again until the game ends.

If there was no cap, it would be mandatory for players to continue to do till the game dies otherwise you wont be on LB, not needing to do ANY other AP, like WvW, PvP, Collections etc..

I just Hope we get LARGE AP rewards for Completed “sets” of AP like all PvP titles gain bonus 100 AP, or 20 Collections gain 100ap etc… this would encourage players to do more than dailies and pvp.

We can only hope! But I doubt it…..

It will only come out when they give us a new race to play, and that be like 3yrs from now.
