I doubt Jon was using zerker gear, so I can assume that’s not the damage you’ll be doing with a glass cannon build. The class isn’t finished either, so it’s possible the damage will be tweaked anyway.
In the POI Jon had around 1300 power and 180 crit dmg while using hammer. So my guess is that hammer 1 will do similiar damage to ranger lb 1.
Also he looked far from being OP, but some cant see anything behind marketing stuff. Its obvious they will make it look strong cus $$$
But I wasnt talking about the damage in Video, I was talking about Traits and current weapon sets alone..
The hammer Tool Tips showed a Ok damage actually, but then when swap to Mace.. the mace tool tips was 1/4 the damage with condi (meaning its a condi damage weapon set, and thats ok, every class has one).
Then no traits (of the 3 revealed to us) has any modifiers good for PvE damage.
The Revenant is complete OP to begin with…

Elite Skills on no Cool Downs!!! Wtf, where all other Classes have liek to wait freaking 180-240 seconds or so until they can use again an elite, revs just need to wait some stupid seconds until their Energy Bar is high enough again (by seeing how fast Energy refills for them…)
If ANet ever wants after the implemention of the Rev to keep a balanced game, Anet will have absolutely to reduce drastically all cooldown times from all other professions.

Stability on dodge is strong. Very strong.
Basically you can secure a healing or crucial skill usage after dodging, that’s a big deal.
Plus you don’t have to pick a trait, it’s just master minor!
The most reliable and shortest CD stability in the whole game.Not to mention they haven’t showcase the physical / offensive type of legend yet, and physical raw damage weapon like maybe 1-h sword. I don’t think Revenant will get no damage boosting trait at all.
Added note: Thief is insanely OP at launch, that Anet has to nerf it SO MANY TIMES to keep it balanced. It is considered the most broken class at the first few months of GW2 launch.

A 1-2 stab on dodge isnt OP for PvE at all… it can stop 1 CC if you really time you dodge to a boss, but at that point that will make the Game feel better for skilled players…. Mesmer Sword 2, thief sword 3, guard aegis can all be time to stop attack too.
I dont care about wvw/pvp, I already know the Rev is strong in these parts…

Im not talking Straight DPS, Im talking about The 3 traits lines we’ve seen so far and the Modifiers they can have like…
10% damage vs Condi foes, 5% more hammer damage, Mace skills recharge faster etc…
Out of the 3 trait lines that have been “shown” there isnt traits like this.

I know PvE isnt all about damage.. but honestly it is. In dungeons I want fast dps runs, When mapping I dont want to spend 45min killing heart quest guys b.c I have low dps.
Im just alittle worried it might go the way of the mesmer/necro, has alot of good/cool concepts, but in practice other classes does the same but at the same time puts of more damage.
I know not everything is revealed yet, and Will still be faithful to this amazing class until everything is open up for us to truly see.

A dungeon taking 5 minute compare to 6 minute your completely right. I do Speed clears but I dont do the crazy portal tactics and I still want to goof around with my friends. But I dont want to spend 15-20min in one that I know I can do in 7min.
This unreasonable expectation is the reason there is even a meta for this game. Faux’s attitude isn’t even extreme by this game’s standards, but as a long-time WoW player I’m amazed that it’s so prevalent. In WoW a 5 minute queue just to get into an instance was amazing. After that, with a decent group you could expect a quick 20 minute run. 45 minutes to an hour wasn’t entirely unexpected. When Cataclysm first dropped, completing a dungeon at all without swapping out members every fight was considered an accomplishment. Under the LFR system, a 45 minute run is considered pretty efficient. I remember spending 4 hours at a time in LFR trying to grind out gear when new raids dropped.
The fact that players still find a situation in which non-optimal pugs can complete runs in about 20 minutes to be unacceptable is astounding. Back in the day, I remember a MMO fan who facetiously created a browser-based game in which your character was granted gear for simply repeatedly clicking a single button as fast as possible. I’m beginning to think that even this wouldn’t satisfy some players.
This is honestly why I think that vertical gear progression is so bad for the game. In GW1 we ascended through the storyline and were instantly awarded our ultimate end-game gear. After that we could enjoy new skins and/or achievements to our hearts’ content. I spent many an hour in the Underworld and/or the deeps just happy to participate in content that required serious coordination and/or know-how simply to complete. I don’t remember anyone ever complaining that class X simply wasn’t putting out enough damage to take down boss Y in 30 seconds. We were just glad to get the horsemen down without a full wipe. On the other hand, those who were simply in it for the phat lootz had the option to spec smite monk and repeatedly solo the first portion of underworld for their ludicrous greens. They could live in their elite world of loot while the rest of us enjoyed our slow-paced albeit challenging content without being ostracized for failing to kill all bosses in under a minute. The game felt like an adventure rather than like a box to tick off the to-do list before the night’s end.
I was saying, Even if Condi was meta I’d do condi, Im the type of person that ALWAYS does BIS. When I played WoW I did.. BIS always. I went on forums I saw other rotations, I learned how to do more damage (I was always DPS I cant stand Healing/tanking).
Doesnt matter what is viable I will do Best In Slot.
My attitude isnt mean/elite etc.. Its how I play ALL games, Its how I have fun, I dont yell at other to go zerk for there Fun, Do Nomads for all I care…
But thats why I joined a Zerk dungeon guild, so I can be with pl I like to play with, Others can join w.e guild they want and play how they want.

I would like this also, Ive ask for this awhile back when Ninja outfit came out.
Its an invisible number that works opposite of Magic Find.
You kill a mob, you kill it again and again, you start to generate this number, after you accumulate a lot of this number you start to get less and less items dropping.
Doing events, Killing different types of mobs will greatly help in keeping this number low.
If you see yourself getting DR do a couple things
- Zone in a different map
- Kill completely different mobs
- Do events
- Spend about 20-30min doing the above
DR doesnt really effect most players, there really isnt alot of Mob farming in gw2.

Yes, I know all of this. But someone saying “no content” needs ascended items is very different than saying some (FotM happens to be some of my favorite content in the game) requires it.
Also, not needing ascended gear until level 29? That’s 30% of your health per tick (on a 20-29 frac), and there are fractals with unavoidable agony. Just pointing out facts.
This is all beside the point though. I just don’t think people should downplay the necessity of ascended gear while saying you can play through all of the game without it. It’s simply not true.
Its 24% My bad, i was thinking 5ar got you down to 18%, But you can get 5ar with 0 Ascended. Again you can fotm without ascended gear, just not higher tiers. So technical he is right in you CAN fotm with 0 Ascended, just cant go to high of a level.
So farming if bad, using your credit card is good?

Building up a lv80 is instant now because of all the lv20 scroll and tome of knowledge. (In fact, I got like 14 of those scrolls by now, and around 480 tomes of knowledge.)If you want to try another race on different class, just buy a character slot and make a new character.
I never said I didnt have extras, i actually have 13-14 (cant remember) slots, I was tried of seeing 2-3 thieves, 2 guards, 2-3 warriors etc……

Ive deleted many characters, I love my characters, they all are Cosplay
If I cant cosplay with it I delete it. I made 1 of each class at the start of the game…
Not able to (at the time) to cosplay I have deleted many of these characters, Ive deleted level 80’s Day 1 characters and even 100% map completion characters.
One of my characters I deleted was a 3 day beta 100% world complete full bag slots 500 crafting character… why? B.c it was sylvari thief and I wanted a Human thief.
I could have made a “2nd” thief… but I had 2 of almost every class and 2 of a couple already. I was tired of having multi classes… So i deleted them all if they couldnt be how I wanted…
If I had a race change I wouldnt have done this. it really makes me sad actually… very sad… but Cosplay and sticking to my account makes me even happier.

Anyway, I’ve read/heard many-a-people opine that they enjoyed champ trains and farming as a way to zone-out and just relax after 8-12 hours at their job. Just something to do that they didn’t have to think too much about and just enjoy playing with others.
I think it’s working as intended and doesn’t need to be buffed/nerfed.

My 50+ ascended boxes says other wise, not all what I wanted, But I have at least 2 full zerk sets, 1 full celestials and 1 full condi. With 2-3 zerk/sin weapons, 2-3 soldier weapons and 11 wup wup weapons.
I mostly do them b.c I love them they are very fun to me.

Yea, like all the mindless chest farm zergs… 111111 all the way to zerg kill any mobs in the way and spend crests that you get in abundance on those bandit keys. 1100 gold without selling any of the exotics, t6 mats, etc. is pretty good given the absolutely inane/banale task the OP has undergone.
I think the actual achievement here and take-away from this thread was opening nearly 14K champ bags in 10 hours!

Invis in gw2 doesnt really do anything besides let a player take a breather.
Warrior has Invul to damage/condis
Ele has many types of full Invuls
Ranger again and Invul
Mesmer/Thief can stealth/evade
Necro has 2 health pools
Engi has MANY tools/tricks, blocks/invul/invis (but all short and spread out)
Guard has many blocks and an Invul
IMO stealth is the least of the problems, Invul while doing damage imo is worst, a Warrior Poping 2 stances with take 0 damage and not able to add condis for 4-6sec While attacking you.
What does stealth do again??? Oh… lets you walk away and get 1 free unseen attack.. that still can be blocked/stop while you still get get hit……

I dont feel its to good, it is very good, I feel anet is trying to get the community to play together more and do the events. Its a step in the right direction and will need to be balanced more, but over all its doing well for now.
With HoT coming out, many players may not be getting our current materials/working on current weapons/armor/legendary skins and we may see a raise in prices of the old items. (not being farmed) or it my be the opposite we dont know just yet.
but I feel atm it isnt to good, and many players will move away from it.
How did it ruin it? many classes can go invis, You still can hurt them, CC them and kill them.
If they are invis they arnt attacking you, its easy to know where they are going aswel..
I love when Thieves SR, I know for 4 sec they are not moving away from that SMALL aoe spot, I just load aoes there and most of the time they are downed.
Mesmers going invis I know they are trying to get away and are hurt, or trying to get off a Clone, if they are hurt I push more pressure, if they using it for offensive I just dodge/block/place cc’s down.
Rangers…. dont need to go invis, if they do I know I will be shot out within seconds… and just prepare my dodge/block.

But playing normally is dependent on the person, My normally is dungeon/fotm tours I make 30g a day without trying to make gold, it just what I play. If I try to make gold there are times I make 60-70g a day.
I made 900g in 5 days last week, I bought the Emperor title, some gem store items and that Pact Fleet Pack.
My point is Normal play isnt the problem, the Problem is some parts of the game has almost no rewards where other parts have to much rewards.

Casual players cannot do a dungeon in 4 minutes, not even SE P1. Not to mention fractals.
They don’t play the tp, don’t use buy orders and either sell to the highest bidder, or undercut by a random amount.By “normal” I meant “normal playing experience for the vast majority of the playerbase”.
PS: Sorry but the part about some aspects being too rewarding is a bit confusing to me. I don’t understand what it is that you think is too rewarding, and what isn’t…
That is why I said it the way I did.
At a casual pov SW is AMAZING good really really good, thats why I was saying Champ bags are well balanced, any player can go in goof around for an hour or 2 with NO worries and NO thought as to what is needed, there is no difficulty at all. For the reward that is being given out, its very good.
Now where reality kicks in – WvW/JP/Mapping/PvP
These are some of the worst ways to make money in the game, they are fully more so for fun.
- WvW – There is almost no rewards besides karma, very little coin, a few champs bags here and there and some play kills. Many commanders/players say they actually lose money playing in wvw
- PvP – Pvp now days can make a good amount of materials/tokens from Tracks, there is a cap of 10g per day in pvp (its very hard to reach this cap without playing Ranked/unrank games for a few hours with a full team). With the adding of pvp tracks, hardcore pvp players can now make some coin/mats and get dungeons tokens/weapons/armors. Its no where near as good as the real thing, but for passively playing pvp its a very good start.
- Mapping (not event farming, but Completing World %) – Doing the 10+ hearts, Pois, Vistas etc.. has very little to no rewards at all. This is in need of help, MANY players dont like mapping as is and with almost no reward it feels pointless
- Jumping Puzzles – You can actually get some things in JP’s like Silver doubloons, ascended mats etc… not a good way to make money, but the couple blues/green and sometimes rare is nice reward for completely a Juzzle, JP’s IMO need a Special loot table just for them, some type of JP only weapons/armor set.
Orr event farming and Eotm
Doing event to event to event to get karma/coin/champ bags and loot bags can be very rewarding, Orr temples is very common for this, and eotm champ/event farming as well.
- Orr/temples – So much loot bags, Heavy Moldy bags drop many t5/t6 materials, t5 more common and at 2-3s, t6 less common but at 30-50s, doing 1 full temple even chain can give 20-50 loot bags (depending on amount of scaling, if in a group and if using a loot stick or not). With doing a few karma events as well, you get a ok amount of coin this way.
- Eotm (Edge of the Mysts) – Do you like running in circles with 20 other players? DO you like doing 20-30 events per hour? Thats what it is, You basically just do events, over and over again, the same 10 events over and over, you get 300-600 karma, 1-3 sivler per event and 2-3 champions per 10 events (depending on if you skip small events or not) This is a really good way to level a character and get kitten materials if needed, also good for karma. This is a good farm for players needing karma, materials, and skill points. BUT SW farming is basically this farm but better atm, I would do SW farming over Eotm farming
Mob Farming
Mob farming is killing just open world NCPs over over and over again to get a certain type of loot drop, Karka in SSC for Powerful Blood is a prime example. Its very slow and boring.
World bosses
World bosses are mostly well balanced, things like Triple Wurm and some LONG meta events could use a boost, but mostly give a couple champ bags and a large chest with a guaranteed daily Rare or 2, Teq, Evolved Wurm and Karka giving much more loot/gold than basic world bosses, they are VERY easy farm-able and can auto pilot through them, the rewards are well balanced.
What is gw2 about? Why that matters how we farm
The biggest this now is that Anet wants players to play as a Community, they want big/long/dynamic events, they dont want 1 person running in circles killing the same mob 100x, they have said this over and over again, its not the game type the want. Doing mega events with the community should be the most rewarding content in game…. is it? I say its very close to being so.
Take a look at SW, with the Chests (need other players help for shovels), the bosses/events that needs to be successful and the Meta event at the end. I feel its a very good rewarding event.
World bosses are also very successful in giving out loot based on community effort.
Conclusion TL:DR
When looking at SW farming, Champ farming, Dungeons, World Bosses and other parts of the game, looking at the rewards of the game as a whole Champ Bags are well balanced and if you do many parts of the game you can make a lot of gold and be rewarded to players than have time to do so.

I wanted to talk about something.
Champ bags, game rewards and what makes a reward balance or not balanced for gw2
Champion Loot bags IMO are extremely well balanced (atm) they will always be nerfed and buff slightly depending on events, game changes etc… when ever there is a change champ bags might go through 1-3 nerfs/buff depending on how the changes effects the game, we are seeing champ bags get nerf a few times, but just b.c something came out really rewarding doesnt make it OK for the game. Anet didnt know how players would repawn and they adjusted the loot to fit it accordingly.
Why do I feel Champ Loot is well balanced?
- Champs are everyone! – every map (but starters) have many champs, Dungeons have many champs. You can farm 60+ champ bags an hour easily.
- They give many items – blues, greens, rares, exotics, coin Ascended mats and Skill Points.
- They are easy to kill – Champions are harder mobs, but still kinda easy to deal with, a group of 1-3 newer players could take down a champ in a minute or 2, where veteran players are able to kill in 30sec to 1 minute, then you have very skilled players that can take some down in 10sec.
- Reward = Content – Champs are easy to kill “mostly” when looking at normal mobs, elites or vets in comparison the look is a nice step up instead of 1-2 items dropping and are rarely something worth wild, champ bags always have at least something of worth in them (this is comparing to none champ mobs). A couple blues/greens with a mat and some coin is very nice when you look at how easy/fast/scale of the mob.
- There is no Quick Rich Scheme – Champs arnt get rich quick like many players want them to be, the truth is, they are everywhere and easily farm-able, MMO games like wow and gw2 cant be compared to games of Diablo, wow/gw2 are meant to be play for a long time, meant to put you into the world and make you feel like your a part of the world, Hack and slash are more so for fast play fun games.
Now lets look at other parts of the game
Dungeons - The money marker of the game
The average pug dungeons can be from 7-15minutes, dungeon running groups can be from 5-10minute, this is dependent on what dungeon you run, AC compare to SE or CoE will vary in time.
Dungeons give mostly 1g – 1.5g with a bonus of 26s. if we say the average run is 8min.
If your doing average runs of 8min (none dungeon expert runners, mostly LFG ones) and you need about 2minutes of breaks between 1 dungeon to another (20-30sec between 2 paths and then another 20-30sec to zone to other dungeon and find a group, yes Im being very generous on times) Your looking at 10minutes. That is 10-11g per hours
Dungeons also have champion bags in them normally 3-4, some a couple paths have 5. So that is another 2g in champ bags per hour (not talking about getting lucky with a 1-2g drop out of bags, just common items). over all a 12-13g per hour in dungeons
- The difference with Dungeons and Champ farming/SW farming is that You can only get good rewards once per path per day
- If you do 3-4 hrs of dungeon, thats all normal LFG paths (AC123, TA u/f, SE1/3, CoF 1/2, Hotw 1, Arah 3 and maybe CM) you run out of that amazing money making gold.
- SW farm at 7g per hour for 5 hours – 35g
- Dungeons at 12g per hr for 3 hrs – 36g
- then dungeon for 2 hours more at 2g per hour (just repeating done dungeons not farming champ bags but completing the dungeon) – 4g
Your only making 5g a day more than SW farming (If you doing LFG and not a set dungeon team trying to go as fast as can).
In comparison SW is almost equal to Dungeons for gold per hour at a more casual Play, and Dungeons are consider one of the best farming methods atm.
If your a Full casual and do slow dungeons then SW farm would be better for you

He made 1100g from 6 weeks of intensive farming.
Of course a thousand gold is a lot, but let’s put things into context. He spent a lot of time doing this.Also, through normal playing most players don’t come even close to having that many bags of loot. So you gotta look it that way too: if I play normally, what are my chances of getting some nice loot?
I think that a lot of players that complain about loot, do so because they feel that playing “normally” is not rewarding in terms of loot.
While poor loot is something that right now doesn’t bother me that much (I think I never posted in threads about unrewarding loot), I can understand these players’ point of view.How many hours did it take to open them all and sort everything out?

But not all players have disposable income (students, young adults, etc). Moreover, the parallel is bit flawed because playing is something people do in their free time, working has timetables: you can’t phone your boss at 3am and say “hey boss, imma work 1hour now, send me 15€, kthanks gnite”.![]()
So “time is better spent working rather than farming” is not an absolute rule, because the time you spend farming cannot be always converted in time spent working.Some people can find farming relaxing or fun: in that case it makes sense to do it.
But playing normally is dependent on the person, My normally is dungeon/fotm tours I make 30g a day without trying to make gold, it just what I play. If I try to make gold there are times I make 60-70g a day.
I made 900g in 5 days last week, I bought the Emperor title, some gem store items and that Pact Fleet Pack.
My point is Normal play isnt the problem, the Problem is some parts of the game has almost no rewards where other parts have to much rewards.
Champ farming “wasnt” meant to be a amazing rewarding way to play, the game is based around doing alittle bit of everything.
Champ bags was a way to make you feel like you got something for fighting a harder opponent and it does that really well. You shouldnt be given a Gold for a 10sec kill.
Dungeons are 4-10min long and give 1-1.5g on average, there are ways to Kill 1 c hamp per 1 minute, if you got a gold per champ kill that be insane. that would be 60g per hour.
At that point Legendarys would be 8-10k gold instead of 2-4k BUT, it would de-value SO many other things in the game, like Cult gear, commander tags (even more so than now) etc….
I feel champ bags are in a Perfect spot, they are rewarding for killing a more difficualt mob, and that reward does fit the challenge of the fight, I feel Champ bags are the most well balanced loot in gw2.
1 ascended and 58 exotics and still anet dithers on the RNG thread. Most unrewarding western mmo ever.

You guys are speculating if it is still worth to farm the bags. Before I opened them, I had had around 200g (had earned almost 300g and had got over 500 globs of ectoplasm in these 6 weeks without opening a single bag). Now I’ve got nearly 1300g thanks to the bags – and I still didn’t sell t6 materials, half of the globs and most of the cores and lodestones. IMO this is a good profit for 6 weeks.
It’s hard to say how many bags per hour I farmed because it depends on how I was farming. I’m not sure how many I get from doing Vinewrath twice a day, I farmed tons of bandit chests though and with a good group I’m able to open 100 of them per hour.
As a farmer I can say: there might be better way to farm gold, but I find chestfarm extremely fun to do. It’s just one more way to play the game.
2-8 hours a day, I will assume you took 2 days off.
5hrs per day average, 5 days a week for 6 weeks (30days) would be 150 hrs
You say you made about 1100g profit (You said you was at 200g and now your close to 1300g).
You made 7.3g per hour
Its not the fastest way to get gold, but If you are having fun then it is the best way

If you ever wonder why the results are so poor, consider just how many bags he was collecting per hour- even assuming 8 hours farming every single one of those days in the six weeks, it’s over 41 bags per hour, or one every 1.5 MINUTES. If he averaged 4 hours every day, then you are up to one bag every 45 seconds.
When you can farm this many bags it’s no wonder the actual loot will be nerfed to hell.
Don’t blame Anet, blame the farmers for forcing ANet to nerf drop rates in order to preserve the economy. It’s a shame that rampant farmers so badly affect the more casual players, maybe they should look at ways to nerf drops just for the farmers or put a hard cap on the number of bags you can get per hour/day.
Anyone work out the total gold value of all the drops (including the X silver per bag?)..doesn’t seem such a bad return.
But you can make 12g per hour doing dungeons, 10g with pugs (this is just raw gold, not counting champ bags or tokens, in night of dungeons after 2 hours sometimes Im 25g other times Im at about 40g with lucky drops).
Is 41 champs bags worth 10g I dont think so.
Honestly, I never really understood all the hype with SAB.
What is the big deal, anyway? It’s a cute little Mini game within the big game.

Its like everything. I rate RP’ing but I love dungeons and fotms, Some HSTE fotms, others hate dungeons and then there are many that think they are “Meh”
Why I Love SAB.
- Its very fun – I can have a no stress fun free time, I can play solo and at my own speed, i can take it slow or go fast. I dont have to relay on other players
- Its easy or hard – It has easy mode and Hard mode, something that alot of the game is missing. I can go into the main game mode to teach players have fun or just goof off, or I can go on Tribulation and have a really hard “BUT” great fun time, with trail and error, or even watch a video and learn how to beat it and time trial my self.
- Its completely different – All games get stale, SaB still has the active combat/dodge mechanics but in a different form to bring the game into a new light of entertainment.
- Funny – Not all the time does a game need to be 100% serious, it has amazing fun/funny atmosphere for all players
- I grew up with platform games – The old Sonic/Mario/Donkey Kong games had its own style of fun play and enjoyment, having those aspects in gw2 is really exciting and important to many players.
There are more reasons but I felt these are the best reasons….
I honestly dont need more levels for a long time. If we could just get SAB to be in game at all times. I would just love to play levels 1-2 and collect the skins again.

The problems with condi is all classes apply it even when not traited for it, so a zerk warrior will put on 5-9 bleeds EASILY.
You have 5 players in a team with out traiting for trying to do condi most mobs will have near max condi up keep most fights.
So a condi player wont do damage b.c others use up the stacks (each condi can only he a number of stack, bleeds = 25, poison/burn=1 etc…).
This is even worst in open world Zerg type pve content, like the new Meta boss Vine.
If you have 5 out of 15 players full condi Only 1 if ANY at all does any condi damage to a boss.
How to fix: A list of a few things to really help
- Take away all passive condi applying minion traits, Add more Major condi traits that you MUST trait for.
- Give Condi Modifiers (+5% condi damage)
- Only have 1 player apply 1 of any type of condi, 1 bleed, 1 confusion, 1 poison etc..
* But each player (Up to 25 players) can have 1 stack of each condi on said opponenet.
* Make condi harder to apply and laster longer/deal more damage, But not to hard to apply MANY condis due to wvw/pvp condi removal skills But make some Condis much easier to apply. (Example. Warriors sword auto attack will each put Its bleed stack on for 3 sec (each additional hit will add Time to the bleed for up to 5 stacks giving a 15sec bleed, that does in a condi build 400-500 damage a tick, but the Adrenaline skill is unblockable and gives 10sec bleed + immob).
Example of a Necro Secpter skills: Auto = bleeds (like wariors) Number 2 is AoE poison for 10sec.
By giving each play able to apply 1 stack (every class should have 3 at minum damaging condi’s) You can balance the wvw/pvp better and have the same bandwidth we are using now.
