I would say Warrior is the problem, and Necro is a response to that.
Warrior can deal immense amounts of damage with basically no counterplay except boon corrupt. Necro has lots of on-demand boon corrupt, so it’s a good choice in the meta. Warrior gets stability, immunity to direct damage, and like 30 seconds of resistance. The only option is to corrupt resistance and transfer back the condi bomb.
Of course, you could play Scrapper or Ele which survive with their own invulns/heals, or Mesmer or Thief, which escape, but IMO Necro is best for actually dealing with Warriors rather than just running away for 30 seconds.
30 secs you say?
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Berserker_Stancehttps://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Healing_Signet
Interesting. But go on, just one more month and you can faceroll against warrs again.
You could almost say he was lying! smh
Healing Signet —> Berserker Stance --> Healing Signet = 24seconds resistance in 29 seconds battle (including cast time).
Don’t want to be mean… but why do I have to explain warriors their class?
I use to like your builds alot. Can you post a power dungon and / or fractal build? Thanks in advance
Ya, turrets and gyros should use owners stats and also trigger owners traits, runes and sigils.
Make an open spectator mode for legendary matches. Legends love prestige and lower player can learn from them.
I… just compared.. those numbers with a close game of mine… and I am speachless.
I guess I now understand why ppl call scrapper OP.
I see more Elixir X, but also Mortar. I prefer Mortar. Stealth Gyro isn’t bad, but it’s use is limited to revive and stomping.
There is a good reason I rarely see Stealth Gyro in legendary.
I have no experience with action camera. But apart from that, functional gyro is not minor. It is game changing, at least in sPvP. Furthermore, it is a free ticket to legendary. But nvm. seems like I am alone with that oppinion.
Well, functional gyro is a game changer in SPvP. Unfortunately most scrapper don’t know how to revive allies with it.
You lost 3 games because of bad team mates. How many did you won because enemie had bad team mates? Well your perception seems very biased.
Precision is only worth for bunker down. IP procs fine with dire since it anyway has a longer cooldown. And the minor bleed trait provides anyway only a very few bleeds due to the short duration.
Imo trailblazer’s plus dire trinkets is best choice for WvW.
It’s more a problem with humanity which does zebra thinking: instead of accepting that all characters are a dynamic mix of roles, humanity tries to break down every class and determine one or two roles for every class. This isn’t bad because it simplifies the coordination but engineer does not fit into this grid.
But engineer isn’t useless, it’s just if you apply this one strategy of simplification (zebra thinking) it seems a bit useless.
Are you sure super elixir does not work? Maybe it is because you are full health and you dont receive any heal due to that. Last time I played with MDS I had the feeling it works with super elixir.
looks to me like that build will have pretty easy perma swiftness as long as you fight a thing once in a while.
if youre gonna be running map completions, just drop alchemy for tools or inventions so you dont have to depend on occasional combat for swiftness. any other open world play prolly includes lots of random fighting.
I understand, thanks.
What about the sigil of concentration instead of the runes?
Wahoo!
Build for general Open World:

So we don’t need more movement speed out of combat? Just wondering why to give it up?
I find Leadership to be the absolute top for open world, definitly. I used to go with Strength but oh boy Leadership boosts your quickness uptime to be almost permanent. Normally I use elixier U aswell, that combined with our lil’ quickness trait.
It’s also amazing how long other boons like swiftness, protection, regeneration last. Healing Mist of the Elixier gun alone is perma regen. I love it.
But you can achive the same result with sigil of concentration. It would be better to drop the 5% damage sigil for concentration and keep the 5% bonus of strength runes?!

IWhile rune of defender or durability are mandatory for WvW you won’t run them in PvE.
I like defender runes and durability runes. Which ones are better for solo/small group roaming in WvW?
Both do have their advantages.
Rune of the defender has an incredible additional heal (4k+) which is – hands down – better than all the boni of durability on paper.
But you are forced to time your hammer#4 and you should not use it in the beginning of a fight to waste that heal.
Unfortunately hammer#4 inflicts 10x invlunerability which is nice to start bursting. Not being allowed to start with that skill is definitly a disadvantage.
The regeneration due to blocking is actually 2 seconds, not 1 second as stated. It also has no cooldown. You can easily reach 100% uptime of regeneration, but to be honest: engineer has anyway good sources of regeneration. It’s not that big.
Rune of durability on the other hand grants tougthness which maradeur gear is lacking of. Also the 4th bonus is group wide. That makes durability definitly the better choice for small groups.
Crying for balance, lets nerf something not even seen past ruby!
Broken is not equal overpowered and changing is not equal nerfing. What is wrong with you kids today?
I like pvp. Different tastes.
Insulting Anet will help for sure.
I’d like it much more if their would be an indicator like speedy kits if functional gyro is ready.
Your link is broken.
-Can’t do much else but spam 3
That’s why it is broken. Broken does not mean it’s overwpowered. But pressing 3 the whole game and beeing 95% of the time invulnerable is broken.
I use this awesome open world build (credits to Xyonon):
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/engineer/Build-for-open-world/first#post6098548
It’s the second build listed in the post.
Edit: sorry wrong build. Here it is!

Easy to blanace:
let evade not count for capping/ decapping like stealth, elixir S etc.
easy to balance, let blocks, protection, reflects, heals etc. not count for capping/decapping
I agree that skills like Obsidian Flesh, Mist Form, Renewed Focus, Disortion, etc. should not count towards capping / decapping like it is already for Elixir S. Also evade (for all classes should not count.
Are you new to game lol? They already don’t affect capping.
No it’s just some time ago since I played those classes. So, why should evade count then?
How to balance this without making it totally useless?

inb4 Chaith comes and asks for scrapper buffs~
Kitten off
ask for nerfs to your forehead
I think engineer is actually pretty balanced. Apart from those issues all classes have like no build diversity or elite specialications much strong then core specialisations.
It’s a matter of timing and watching your opponent. If you’re not observant you’re going to get wrecked. Again, it’s a matter of skill.
Usually evading should be a matter of timing and watching you opponent. That’s what is called skill. Perma evading without thinking about when to evade and then calling it an issue of l2p… seriously that is kittened.
It’s broken. And totally boring to fight against.
I am in the same boat but have the viper armor already+ maradeur also, going for zerker atm. The problem with sharing Zerker/Maradeur for PvE and WvW are the runes and sigils. While rune of defender or durability are mandatory for WvW you won’t run them in PvE.
However, condi is alot more fun in fractals imo and also alot more easier for you and your group. It is definitly worth it and fun to play (my opinion).
for raids it depends on which boss. Sometimes power scrapper outperformance condi and sometimes the other way around. If you main engineer you should be able to play both.
Tl;dr: go for it. The full armor, not just trinkets.
I saw my functional gyro pushed away by a downed guardian when I wasn’t running Final Salvo trait. Noticed that it gets the stabi from Final Salvo what made me think it is not interruptable.
But it is. And I belief it can also be destroyed by AoE. But not sure about that.
I found out that mortar kit does quit well against warrior, thief and revenant with that blind and freeze.

Not being able to join with one or a a few friends like it was in GW1 is not up-to-date. In gw1 you joined alone or 5. Come on.
So, I am impossible
Maybe the war went low mid and the best thing he was able to do was: leave.
I saw Sabull playing this build yesterday on the ESL stream:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vdAQFASnUUBtbhVXBGpC0ehlJjS8ZKgAIc7Smwi+vz79G-TJBFABts/ABXAAxLDAwDAAA
Must say: I start loving mortar after playing a few rounds with it. Overall it has more damage and also more surviveability but less CC (no blast gyro) and no stealth (stealth gyro) compared with the meta.
What do you guys think?

I recommend updating gear at least every 10 level. It’s just more smooth and fun to level with mighty gear
Doesnt change the fact you are trying to use condition damage stats without conditions.
Since it seems like you put alot of effort into this, I am sorry to say that I don’t like your build.
Why? You are losing maradeurs crit chance and crit damage just to get a part of the crit chance back by swapping the awesome inventions trait line with firearms. Still dealing less direct damage due to the missing ferocity but gaining some condition damage – without conditions. Sure you have 5 stacks of burning with 50% uptime and some bleed from auto attack of EG… come on you know it better! That’s never worth any point in condition damage.
However, you lose alot of sustian by dropping the invention trait line with bunker down (which also provides a solid point damage with the mines…), a second emergency heal and alot of regeneration plus a conditions cleanse for you and your allies.
Additional you are swapping out bulwark gyro for rocket boots – to give your team less chances to win team fights! But at least you are able to escape when your mates are dying?
I used to run this build alot while roaming:
I really like the rune much more then durability: the 6ths bonus heals for more then 4k! And there are alot blocks available to trigger it every 30sec:
- Hammer #4
- Tool Kit #4
- Aegis after heal skill (4th bonus).
Also the 2cnd bonus acutally gives 2sec regeneration (not 1s as listed) and has no internal cooldown. Which ends up in perma regeneration. Plus the sigil of blood and rapid regeneration (also a small synergy with speedy kits trait and tool kit = super speed) the sustain of the build is crazy even without bunker down.
Flamethrower is actually a power weapon. But the burn is also used in condition builds! However, bombs and grenades are awesome hybrid weapons. Means you can run either power or condition or even both mixed with those kits.
People are pointing out offhand pistol will become terrible due to this change. Don’t you see that’s because main hand pistol at the current state sacks as hell? Blowtorch is the only reason why people even use p/p. That’s a kinda sad thing!
It stacks per type of boon. Means: doesn’t matter if 1 or 25 might. Same for stacks of stability
Uhm I tested this in sPvP some days ago and acid bomb removes a condi when trained.
Could you check? It’s not consistent with my own results.
Checked it and I am wrong: acid bomb does not remove a condition.
Please speak for yourself. You might end up frustrated and confused, but lets be real here. To think all new players are mentally deficient is a bad way to go about setting precedence for “balance”.
It’s not about new players beeing mentally deicient (why that offense?), it’s about making a system much more complex for people who play multiple classes and multiple modes. Alot of people here are just playing one class and only PvE. They don’t see this issue and I just wanted to point it out.
Balance should be done around the high end of every mode of play. Yes, this increases the “burden of knowledge” but that ultimately creates a healthier state as people have more information as a whole.
“Druid is now only dealing 19k dps instead of 20k, letz kick them all from our raid group” is a really childish attitude. I am not sure if Anet should balance something around this attitude…
