What? You guys aren’t avoiding flowers and rocks in real life? Now I feel embarrassed..
All I have to say is to Necromancer + Whip is: Castlevania.
Enough said.
Some ideas: (expecting the whip to be 1 handed)
Elementalist + Whip:
<Fire
— Dragons Hit – Hits the enemy with a burning whip, enflames the enemy
— Flaming Ground Pound – Hits the ground creating a long AoE of fire
— Fire Circle – Damages everything around your character creating an AoE fire ring
+ Burning Cannon – Throws your enemy away inflicting knock down and burning damage
+ Dragons Claw – Holds the enemy tight inflicting fire damage as well as immobilizing
<Water
— ?
— Water Pitcher – does multiple hits healing yourself with each
— ?
+ Cold Ram- Transforms your whip in a ram of ice to hit and knocks them down
+ Frozen Cage – freezes your enemy on hit immobilizing him/her
<Air
— ?
— Critical Shock – attacks your enemy with 100% shocking on hit
— ?
+ ?
+ Amplifier – collects enough energy to create an explosion where your whip hits.
<Earth
— ?
— ?
— ?
+ Thrown Dirt – Throw up dirt with your whip to blind your enemies.
+ ?
Necromancer + Whip:
— Scourge – dmg and bleed target extra damage if you attack from behind
— False Penance – flog yourself to gain might and fury small chance of inflicting fear on nearby enemies
— Hangman’s Noose – channel dark energy through the whip to immobilize and damage your foe (maybe the new condie depending on its final theming)
+ Snakes Grab – Transforms the whip into a snake immobilizing and poisoning your enemies.
+ Dark Domination – Sends fear upon your enemies.

+1 Do not nerf
+1 Improve loot
Commanders don’t mean anything? You’re wrong. Commander tags mean nothing.
I bought the commander tag for wvw and for helping people in the new pve content as events gotten pretty difficult requiring a certain amount of people gathered.
Unlimited gathering tools should be…
A. …account bound
B. …cheaper than $10
I’m playing my double dagger elementalist on heal. And I must say it’s great. Everytime I switch to water I’m able to heal myself to max or almost max. The only problem is that it’s not worth it if you do not switch through the elements much.
I don’t think it’s a good idea to remove commander tag however I agree that the current state of getting commander tag is too easy. 100g? pfff. Make the people earn at least pvp rank 20, wvw rank 50 and level 80. Also make them require to either get every boss achievement or have done at least 5 different world events (succesfully).
Then you’d have your elite. This is non-sense. Commander tags don’t say anything about a commander.
I myself am commander and compared to other commanders I have actually been thanked by people for leading those people the loot-lusted-commanders aren’t leading.
The solution to balancing is making every class overpowered lawl.
I like the idea of having more skills to choose from per weapon set. Plus you could unlock them by using the weapon even more. :P
Your first video was horribly flawed, something which you refused to acknowledge in the accompanying thread. Why should I watch this one?
Because he might have improved. Different topic, different knowledge, different story.
Just give it a try.
I have a useful fix for this: change wins to matches played. Everyone will be happy.
Dwarves will not be playable, they’ve all turned to stone
Wow, hold it. No one ever said ALL turned to stone. They only said that no one knows a Dwarf that hasn’t bee turned to stone. :P There might still be some normal but who knows?
Doing various events or things for a legendary? If this would be implemented I’d definitely go through the kitten to get one.
Currently I can only dream of a legendary as crafting one is pain…
Switching between the dungeon tokens would be stupid. Instead of having to do a certain dungeon I could just do an easier dungeon.
E.g. I do 50x CoF and get my Arah armor without doing Arah?

Due to people complaining about living world titles ArenaNet isn’t going to make anyone get titles for difficult content. sighs
If the Super Adventure Box would be permanent I guess nothing speaks against it. (and I reall hope it’s going to be permanent one day..)

1. Thought on the Current Situation
—————————————————————-
1.1 Rating system
From what I’ve experienced so far, currently if you play a game you get random people – I assume – around your rating into your group and an enemy group with players with a similar rating as well. Then the rating of your team and the enemy team is calculated and compared. If you win you gain rating if you lose you.. lose rating, duh. How much you gain or lose depends on the enemy team. Also I should mention that the rating is called “skill rating”, even though it has more to do with luck than skill.
1.2 Playing with a friend
At the moment you can queue solo or with a friend. If you queue with a friend and his rating is lower than yours, this can have a massive influence on your rating. If you’re silver/gold division and your friend is bronze division and you play a match with 3 bad players vs 5 better players at some point you can’t balance it out yourself. If you’re able to win the match you get a tiny bit of rating plus, if you lose the match you lose a ton of rating.
1.3 Queuing possibilities
Talking about queuing. As I mentioned you can queue ranked solo or with a partner and with up to 5 people on unranked. This information will be used later on, that’s why I mentioned it.
2. Suggestion
—————————————————————-
2.1 New Rating System
I’ve taken quite a lot of thoughts on this topic, since when I’m making my own game that has a ranking system it should be as good as possible. Now what I would do is:
I would divide the rating system into 2 factors.
2.1.1 Player Skill
The first factor is the actual player skill that determines how well you play your class and how well you know the other classes. It represents the pure skill level of a person, obviously. This should be influenced by top stats like damage or healing but also by your KDR and revives.
2.1.2 Strategy
The second factor is the strategy.
Even if you get a high KDR or if you deal most damage or heal the most you can still lose by fighting off point or failing to reach the match goal (gaining 500 points via conquest – as in capturing and holding points). So the other factor should be determined by your offense stat, defense stat and your match win/lose as well as how you won or lost (as in your points compared to the enemy team)
2.2 Ratio
Player Skill and Strategy should have a ratio where if 4 people are afk and you’re good enough against your enemies you lose no rating. However winning a match or losing a match should still give a big boost. So I’d say Player Skill to Strategy should be 50:50 and win to (top) stats should be 66:33.
Player Skill: 50%
win/lose: 33%
(top) stats: 17%
2.3 Group queuing
I’m going to use the inspiration from games like Heroes of the Storm here.
So yeah without much to explain.. Heroes of the Storm solves this by having a team queue and a not team queue for ranked. Something similar could be implemented as well. The problem currently is that you can enjoy ranked games but you cannot share that joy with others due to the limitations of the queue. People previously complained about fighting random vs a 5 man group. Separate queues would solve this. Now I don’t know the limitations of Guild Wars 2 nor of it’s engine and Heroes of the Storm is a MOBA that focuses on PvP but I see no other choice to solve this than to have the current queue and a queue for 3+ or maybe 1-2, 3-4, 5. I know this would require an extra leaderboards for each but if it’s possible why not. I assume it would take a few design choices and some server space since the basic system for it is already implemented.
3. Thanks
—————————————————————-
Thanks for reading through this elaborate suggestion. I really enjoy Guild Wars 2 and PvP, however the matchmaking system is a real enemy of mine. I keep getting groups according to my ranking with players that I can definitely see they aren’t as good as me. There are more and less obvious matches. Oh and by the way I do get 1-2 amazing matches here and there, where I actually have to focus to beat the enemy/enemies but it’s too rare for me to enjoy. I really love your game ArenaNet and I hope you’ll continue working on it and polishing it to touch a big audience from PvP to WvW to PvE players, including casual and hardcore.
Thanks.

Important things to keep in mind for characters to get full potential:
- is a potential story possible to be made up?
- is there a capital city for them?
- does the capital city have potential for a race?
- do character models match?
- who is the potential enemy?
- how is the race effected by the dragons?
EXAMPLES:
Charr
- Yes – Yes – Yes – Yes – Ascalons – Dragon attacked the land
Asura
- Yes – Yes – Yes – Yes – Inquestur – Dragons absorb magic
Sylvari
- Yes – Yes – Yes – Yes – Nightmare – Zhaitans undead army corrupts the nature
Norn
- Yes – Yes – Yes – Yes – Svanir – Jormag corrupts the population
Human
- Yes – Yes – Yes – Yes – Bandits – The queen is in danger
Kodan
- Yes – Yes – Yes – Yes – Jormag – Their land was taken by Jormag
Dwarfs
- Yes – Yes – Yes – Yes – Destroyer – Have been fighting Primordius
Tengu
- Unknown – Yes – Yes – Yes – Unknown – Unknown
Centaurs
- No – Yes – No – No – Other tribes – None
Hylek
- Yes – No – No – No – Other tribes – Tribes get sacrificed and turn into the undead.
Skritt
- Yes – Yes – No – Yes – Destroyer, Curses, other tribes – Skritt find destroyer eggs underground.
hum
I just read that it’s unblockable. I’ve seen other guardians block it with F3 lol.
Anyways as it’s been said: You can dodge the intial throw. If I put a rope on your tummy and pull when you try to dodge or w/e you do, you’ll be pulled as well.
Also there are some exceptions even in PvE of things that are not dodge-able (not talking about instant kill attacks).
By the way if you get hit by it as a thief your best bet would be to grow distance. It has a limited distance. Also I think stun breaks might be able to cancel the pull.
You may be right, only an official poll would sttle the score. In the mean time I keep in mind that 80% of all Guild Wars 2 Lands are completely empty. I played other mmo’s where mounts were a big hit. Even those who initially opposed them fount them cool later on.
Another thing to keep in mind is that 92% of all statistics are made up.
Mounts wouldn’t really change this though. Since you can already go easily to every single area in the game that you have already visited by using Waypoints.
Really? The most important Waypoints are always contested. By important I mean lands like Harati Hinterlands – see it for a clear example.
No one wants to port right into an army of aggressive enemies, plus there’s always a waypoint on the map that’s not contested. I don’t understand why people bother walking so much. Most classes have speed buffs or signs or even swappable traits.
Plus you get to see the landscape find some resources to collect can kill some enemies on your way find some events etc. etc.
But I guess this is just my opinion.
When you play ranked matches you get pips.
3 pips for a lost match
10 pips for a won match
+1 pip extra if you have 1 or multiple top stats
and bonus pips if you’re in platinum or legendary division.
Once you get a certain amount of pips you get a chest reward.
At the end of the chest rewards you get Ascended Shards of Glory.
With those and the normal shards of glory you can buy ascended gear from the ascended league vendor who stands in the heart of the mists next to the league vendor.
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/PvP_League
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ascended_League_Vendor
Of course it works. You can put the skin on a weapon that is not yet soulbound give the weapon to your mesmer and use a trasmutation stone to combine the skin of the first weapon with the stats of the second.
I agree that either the amount of T6 decreased or the amount of stat bonus increased.
I agree that the FoTM “reward-system” is a total flop. The only thing it’s worth is to determine whether or not you drop certain types of essence, fractal weapons, pristine fractal relics, rings and infused rings.
Have you ever seen a dog dodge out of a leash?
Just going to repost this.
You never had a dog? I saw that multiple times with multiple dogs. Most of the time when there was a bath, doctor or kitten* in heat involved
*why does it show the corect english word for female dog as ‘kitten’?
Sensitive censorship.
I don’t see anything wrong with the reaction time. If you do not react fast, you can still cancel out the pull or go ranged. Or you start your invul (on war) overload (on ele) reaper form (on necro) etc. Stability might block it too I suppose.
Base Tanks:
Warrior (max health + heavy armor)
Guardian (heavy armor + much healing)
Necromancer (max health)
Support/Utility:
Guardian
Warrior
Mystic feeling:
Guardian
I guess Guardian matches well when sorting out the above said way.
The titles are achievements the rest is a pure mix of tasks and achievements.
You can’t call it tasks nor achievements. However now a days there are many achievements that are easy to achieve. (Look at the Flash Game Achievements Unlocked)
Maybe they’re all necromancers. x3
The problem about the concept is… that if there were no players online Lions Arch would fall. I beg you. Lions Arch’s strongest people fall after 5 undead servants.
Undead or not they’re servants.
I don’t really like the idea of flying mounts. You would have to restrict it a lot to keep jumping puzzles the way they are.
Although…
By a maessage similar to the water boundary nonsense
“A strong wind is blowing you back if you fly further”
What do you mean by “nonsense”. The explanation from the water made sense. Only the teleportation seemed weird.
You could also give the user the ability to modify the color of the cursor.
This would give the user the ability to use their favorite color as well as let them take care of the visibility themselves.
Without further a do: agreed.
Without needing to read after half: +1
I have always gotten the same loot from fractals. Sometimes less good sometimes better. I never did a fractal above 30. I either got cores or rares. Sometimes exotics. I always have some unlucky runs and some lucky runs but it never kept getting worse. Many people say cores aren’t worth it but I think they’re a great reward (depending on which cores). However when I compare those runs how long they take with what I get:
(<10 – 30min; <20 1h30m; <30 2h30m; <30 3h)
It’s just like the reward for jumping puzzles. Not worth it.
Dolyak thief finisher: Throat cuts the player with a dolyak.
Uuuuuhh… what?
Reminds me to the Necro’s ability to get 10 might and 12 second bleed and give your opponent 42 seconds bleed.
There’s a key to be mapped for instantly turning your character and camera by 180°
….
Hmmm…
You don’t leave the guild however you might run into problem with guild missions.
Ranger had a lot of fixes I heard. Like pets not pulling enemies anymore except you “tell your pet” to attack.
Also a pet is always welcome as it can heal others during fight.
Engineer can make a lot of support towers and stuff.
I’d definitive take a ranger over engineer but that’s personal opinion.
These new dailies have to be removed. They’re impossible to get in a certain time or expect you to have the luck to get the correct team
Tuesday: 4 of 5 matches won
Wednesday: 1 of 3 matches won
Thursday: 0 of 3 matches won
Friday: 0 of 3 matches won
Saturday: 0 of 3 matches won
Seriously. yoloQ dailies is the worst dailies ever made. Actually yoloQ is the worst ever made.
Make the daily all tournaments or only team tournaments. Because in team tournaments you can actually talk to your guildies or friends about a different strategy and they listen.
This sounds much better than other suggestions on personal story repetition.
How about a “skip dungeon” button that immediately gives you the achievements and rewards for clearing the dungeon?
“Congratulation for visiting the dungeon. Here are your tokens and rares!”
Agreed. It’s really annoying that the clothes change on fall damage.
The explanation of water is more plausible than “for no obvious reason there is a barrier you can not pass” if you ask me. And how do people know there is a no landing zone where JP’s are? They’d probably believe it’s a bug.
Definitely not. No, to both.
I agree with balancing but the downed state needs to stay.
The downed state makes PvP, WvW and PvE unique giving you a last chance instead of dying instantly.
It’s one of the reasons I like Guild Wars 2 so much.
However as I said it needs balancing not removal.
Excellent idea, I subscribe! I play at least 20 dungeon runs every day and not having an option to skip all cinematic it is painful…
You can all click “skip” in each scene. Since you’re invincible during a scene it might seem a bit annoying but I honestly think it’s not a big thing that requires a big change. Except the “skip all story scenes” button would be no work for the devs.
I’m still waiting for this. We put in our points and then realize the what we chose didn’t have enough effect or we planned to skill another character that way and want to change the first characters skills.
Plus if it might ever happen that you have to reset skills it’s not needed anymore.
1. If with ranged dots ranged traps are okay, I’d advise necromancer. It’s currently the top class when it comes to dots.
2. There is no in-game group finder for dungeons. But you can freely ask in the map chat and sure find a lot of people. Else you can login as guest on other servers and ask where. If that’s not enough there is an online page called lfggw2 (http://gw2lfg.com/lfgs/new) So no worries.
Usually the most played dungeons are citadel of flames and fractals.
It would greatly help to kind of estimate your waiting time or know how many come before you.
“Making people pay makes sure people don’t switch their crafts all the time”… I really don’t understand what gameplay benefit ensuring this does not happen has? Will me cycling through every one of my crafts to check recipes etc affect your play style in any way? If you can answer that question with reason, then fair enough and I will put my hands up and admit I was wrong, but I find it doubtful you will find a problem with that.
I can’t answer your question but to guess the developers want people to actually be concerned about what they’re going to do. Make them think over their actions.
In the end only the developers themselves know what they thought than implementing.
If they don’t want to remove this price you have to pay my suggestion would always come in favor:
Make the player only pay if they actually want to learn new recipes and not just use those they already know. Make them pay for actually learning and being taught and not doing things they already can. In the end that’s exactly the NPC’s you require to talk to to switch are talking about.
You already have two active disciplines, so you’ll need to deactivate one first. You won’t lose your progress, but reactivating it will cost more than learning a new discipline.
“…but reactivating it will cost more than learning…”
>>I don’t want to learn anything I wanna craft things which recipes I already know why should I pay for it then?<<
Too be honest I never had money problems in WvW at all. I have half full exotic equipt and the payment for repair gets weight out very well by the money I get from events.
Well I guess it’s because I don’t walk alone but with the zerg..
Finally I can get rid of them instead of destroying them. Thank you lord for making a person suggest this.
I read somewhere that soulbound items become account bound when you place them in the bank and the delete the character, so that seems to work for at least some items (like starter gear?) but I haven’t tried it myself.
Nah it doesn’t. It is still soulbound to your deleted character. I’ve done it before. Nothing left to do but destroy it, or leave it there for posterity or whatever.
Some soulbound items can be recycled or sold… still better than destroying.
