My wife and I had been following flax and iron ore permanent nodes on the TP for some time, waiting for them to drop further… they were the only ones we didn’t have. They’ve been steady for awhile. This morning we did a frantic sell to get the money for the buy price and bought them before the price started to rise. Since they are already going up, I’m glad we noticed that they are not included anymore.
Does anyone know if Teleport to Friend has also been removed?
And I am one of the ones not happy about the removal of boosters. I have always found them very useful and I will not buy them from the trading post. If the conversion dust still drops, I will consider that an extra slap.

Power creep entered the game years ago with the introduction of Ascended gear, something that was advertised to not happen.
I am not willing to do the multiloot because it just plain is, at this stage, neverending no fun which means that I am pretty much locked out of the economy. My purchasing power is absolute garbage.
I am currently trying to find any way to get enough money out of something other than the multiloot to be able to purchase anything near what I did pre multiloot. Before John Smith’s announcement, I occasionally held hope that they would do something like make only the instance you won in lootable, or something otherwise intelligent.
Then I remembered the trait debacle and remembered which company I’m dealing with. John Smith’s comment confirmed that, something that didn’t really surprise me. Disappoint, yes, surprise, no. Like everything, I have no choice but to accept it and try to find other ways to make money.

(the ones for completing the meta in Ember Bay)
From someone who hates huge, gaudy shoulders and has so few I like to choose from, THANK YOU.
More of that size, please.
I stay with one new class for awhile before even setting “foot” on another because my memory is bad enough that I will dump all I have learned on the new class. I also have more than one of my favorite classes because I like more than one race.
As for ascended, you can swap weapons with all that can use them and gear with all of that weight class. If I think I am going to use a piece of gear only on characters that use condi, I make that gear some version of condi.
If I am going to swap them between different damage types, I just make it zerk since it will work on everything, just not as well as condi on condi builds.
I wish we could buy shared weapon slots and shared gathering tool slots.
As someone who has every dye in the game, and has for years, I hope they add an alternative to the dye pack unless the dye pack will include future dyes.
They could have a “pick one” for things that people can max out on. Dyes, minis, etc. For me, the “other” could be 5 teleport to friends, a free makeover kit, or one of those account wide bag slots.
First, THANK YOU ANET for the QoL improvements this update.
The big QoL improvement I would now like to see is reducing light spam, either on a slider or “lowest/ low/ med/ high” scale with “lowest” being barely visible. First, I can’t see anything. Second, the lag with the light spam., oh the lag.
… be able to purchase a stack, half a stack, or type in a number at the various venders (like troll whistles).
… account wide gathering tools slots, purchased like the bank slots.
… an open all option for bags
… saving builds to switch between on the fly. How it is now is a great improvement but a one or two click option would be great.
Have to give Anet a bit “attaboy”! My sincerest thanks.
This is a good step in the direction of renewing my faith in Anet. Keep it up.
M-m-m-manifesto?? I don’t care one whit about the legendaries, what I heard was “manifesto.” As in you are steering the boat in the general direction of the Manifesto??
I have one thing to say to this:
BOOYAH! and Thank you!
I’ve been thinking about it and changed my mind to a degree.
I am very happy with the announcement that they are bringing the game back towards the living world. Now, whether or not that will happen is very much up in the air. I have been noodling around in vanilla waiting for one of two things to happen: getting bored again and leave or they change things back towards what I want.
My initial thought on hearing the news was “woot!” and it still pretty much is. However, in addition to this I think they should finish the legendaries because this is going to drive even more players away. A lot of players left because of the direction of HoT and now they are going to lose more.
So, my opinion is somewhat changed: “woot” for going back in the direction of living world, but they really should finish what they started. If I had a say, I would say to stop working on the next expansion, put the devs working on it on finishing the legendaries, fixing the existing bugs and unfinished content, working on the living world. Make this expansion close to the equivalent of the core game in content and scope.
As far as the Manifesto, the Living World was a core aspect of it. That is what I was referencing. Yes, I know it was tossed but getting that part back will help for me.
When Colin left, I was pretty sure it wasn’t for as nice a reason as he said. These changes kind of prove it.
(edited by Gregori.5807)
Living world. Don’t give a tinker’s kitten about legendaries or raids for that matter. The only thing I care about legendaries is that this change is going to drive more people from the game. I think they should have finished them for that reason while steering the game back towards living world.
I did enough to become very sick of HoT and have been noodling about in Vanilla waiting for either me to get tired of repeating Vanilla content again or the game to change in a direction I liked. I held almost zero hope of the latter but from what Mike O’Brian said, the game will be changing in the direction I want. Whether or not it does is still to be seen.
However, I have some hope now.

Mastery points should never have been a thing in the first place. ANet pulled the trick of hiding progression behind specific content with traits 1.5. I’m seeing some of the same people who complained about this approach with traits supporting it with masteries. Apparently it’s OK if it’s account progression rather than character progression. To me, it’s a bigger steaming pile because a lot of the points are behind things like mini-games, silly achievements in story missions or lengthy/expensive collections.
Yes!!
I am not fussing about it because the trait issue taught me how far I will get.
There are a number of reasons to complain.
I used to complain because I cared about the game and something was happening that bothered me and/ or I believed would harm the game. An example of that was the trait debacle.
I was hot and heavy in it for most of its long duration. Gaile and others came in to asking us to keep making “suggestions” or telling us the devs were listening. At the end we learned that, indeed, it was just a hamster wheel; they had decided on a direction and nothing we said mattered.
I don’t bother complaining anymore. It doesn’t do any good and, frankly, I don’t care as much after the trait issue.
I dislike HoT, mostly because of too little open world PvE content for an expansion, timers timers timers, grindiness (masteries!), gating (especially gated exploration), the lack of the quirky humor and strangeness of vanilla, changes to vanilla (except gliding… love that), etc. I am not interested in raids or PvP and knew that when I purchased HoT so nothing to complain about there. I enjoy the general difficulty in HoT, enjoy specializations, and the platforming is something I really like. In fact, I would like more JPs in HoT.
I was expecting open world PvE in HoT to be a hyperthyroid SW, which I enjoy. Instead its a hyperthyroid Dry Top, which has limited playability.
However, after the trait mess, I don’t believe anything I have to say matters. So, this is my first HoT complaint post and probably my last.
So I will wait to see if they move the game back in a direction I like while replaying vanilla until I get bored again and sometimes going into HoT to explore. When I get bored with it again, I’ll check back every now and then to see if things have changed in a direction I like.
No, I’m not uninstalling or quitting the game. No, you can’t have my stuff.
(edited by Gregori.5807)
What it says in the title.
I know gliding is generally disabled in vanilla JPs but I have found it randomly disabled in other areas. No, I don’t remember where. It might be that I was on the edge of a JP.
Anyway, how about something like a dot on the UI where gliding is disabled, say, on either side of the endurance bar over the skill bar?
I hope they make more Jumping Puzzles.
I enjoy the idea of vertical zones… So much fun.
Makes me feel like exploration is meaningful, dangerous and adventurous.Sorry you dont feel that way OP.
Me too. Lots of things I don’t like about HoT, the verticality is not one of these. JPs were one of the first things that made me fall in love with the game. I started out far below average and vary between average and pretty good now depending on the day.
(edited by Gregori.5807)
Nope.
There are a lot of things I am unhappy about with HoT but, when I prepurchased, I thought it through and decided that, if the art is as good as vanilla, its worth $50 to run around in. And it is… the art is unbelievable.
If art hadn’t been my main criteria, I would probably be regretting it.

Better communication between the Anet team and players.
I thought that was pretty awesome.
But a guard? I’d peg him as rolling an engie or ele. He’d either go straight science(ish) or absolute magic.
Between my wife and I, we have probably spent about $1000, including HoT. We don’t really keep track of which of our accounts get what.
We’re good with that.
At the very least they will have to talk to NCSoft before making any marketing changes. I don’t think Anet has as much of a say in marketing decisions as people think. From what I have heard of NCSoft, they sound rather ruthless.
So, it would have to go through two companies, one out for money only. That would take more time than going through Anet alone.
(edited by Gregori.5807)
If they added daily JP as an extra thing to do I would be very happy. I am a JP addict. Basically, increase the number of tasks offered. I do JPs simply for the fun of them.
If they replaced one of the tasks with a daily JP I wouldn’t like it. I go through times when I am lazy, tired, or whatnot and want to take the easiest route to my daily. Right now my ideal lazy times dailies are gatherer, vista viewer, world boss (if its up when I am on), mystic forger, WvW (to fill up my daily). I would like my lazy daily to remain as it is and have JPs as a cherry on top.
(edited by Gregori.5807)
I would still buy the game. I would prefer there to be more than one zone (in your hypothetical situation) but it wouldn’t be a deal breaker. But then I am a JP addict and the thought of HoT kind of makes me salivate.
Even 1 zone will be 3 biomes per zone: canopy, ground, underground.
I have not been in this beta but I heard that there is no update before playing.
In vanilla beta, we had frequent updates in the betas and a huge update before Head Start. They are probably updating HoT in their normal updates and they will provide you with a beta character slot. I would think you won’t have to update before each beta… just log in.

Another difference is that anyone could buy vanilla GW2 for $10 during the sales. I bought a farming account.
In this case, veterans get only part of the offered purchase no matter what they do if they don’t want to lose all progress. The core game is lost, unlike with the sales.
Trait debacle says “hi”.
I imagine you’re referring to the NPE? They’re implementing an overhaul next
Nope. The trait debacle predated the NPE by some time. Here are two threads about it, the first one closed after 83 pages and the new one opened: Trait thread 1 Trait thread 2
As for traits, like next week right? Pretty sure there was a news entry about it. Oh you can complain they took a long time, fair enough, but you can’t complain they just ignored players.
The trait thing has been ongoing since April 15th, 2013, with the amongst the most obvious deflection and loudest ignore I have seen in the forum. Don’t believe me? Read those threads.
I am glad that the traits will be redone after all this time. However, I will never forget what that fight taught me.
I apply this lesson to everything in the game. When I read the current fuss, I just shake my head and think “and this has worked so well in the past.”
(edited by Gregori.5807)
To make sure this doesn’t get completely lost, for those of you who are concerned that the players are not being listened to on the HoT pricing structure issue:
Hey all,
We understand that there are many opinions and suggestions about the game versions and the pre-purchase program. We will continue to read your thoughts and thank you for sharing them.
Edit to add: We will share your input with the team.From this post by Gaile.
We have been heard and we are not being ignored.
Hope this puts a few minds at ease!
Trait debacle says “hi”.
However, maybe there is a loud enough uproar to make them act. I’ll buy HoT but am waiting to see if the deal is made more palatable first.
I turn 53 this month and my wife, who also plays, is 51.
My wife started computer gaming in the late 70s (a DOS version of D & D) and has gamed since then. I had a Pong console in ’77, played a couple of games like Riven and Myst, then started MMOs in ’07.

Are people concern about the new Trait system because of the way the previous Trait revamp was handled? I am curious.
If something isnt right about it, will it get changed, or not and force players to wait out months for word of adjustment?
Is that on the back of some of your minds when it comes to the new trait systems?
That is my major concern with the new trait system. I expect there to be bugs and things that just don’t work when it launches but Anet’s handling of the current system has not inspired a lot of confidence in me.
I think, if it is as disliked as the current one, there is more of a chance of them changing it because it will affect all players from the time it is launched.
Well, that leaves me out… terribad RNG for me.
For those that try, may the odds ever be in your favor. :P
This happened to me and it turned out it was whatever guild was in my 5th slot. There was a thread on Reddit that was talking about this problem.
I removed myself from a banking guild I share with my wife and she readded me. Thus, the banking guild was in my 5th slot. The guild I wanted to talk in was in my 4th slot.
Thank you for posting this.
This is a massive overhaul to, well, everything. I hope they take enough time for this to not have the buggyness we have seen in so many of the content releases.
I also hope that, if the playerbase for the most part loathes something, they will listen. As someone very active in the Trait debacle, this is my hugest fear.
The Gag Order. “We won’t tell you anything about what’s coming until it’s imminent, because the juvenile among you accuse us of breaking promises when we can’t produce what we discussed.”
Dear God, yes. The “communication” policy. This is exactly the first thing that popped into my mind as well. But hey, as long as they’re really committed to it, I think they should embrace it at ALL levels and see how it feels. I’m imagining a conversation between an imaginary high-ranking executive (Let’s call him, say, Bike O’Mrien) and anyone on the dev team:
Bike: “Hey, I just wanted to check in and see how we’re coming along with [Feature X]. Can you give me an update?”
Dev: (Blank stare, total silence)
Bike: “Sorry, maybe you didn’t hear me? How’s that feature coming along?”
Dev: (Looks away; Even louder silence)
Bike: “I just asked you a question. Twice. What’s with the silent treatment? Have you no respect?”
[This continues a few more times, until Bike is extremely angry and frustrated]
Bike: “ANSWER ME!!!”
Dev (finally): “You should know that I’ve certainly heard every question you have asked, and I really value any input that you might offer, but I’m just really not ready to talk about it yet.”
Bike: “Not ready to…?! What do you mean?! Can’t you just give me an OVERVIEW, for heaven’s sake?”
Dev: “Eehhhhh, not really, because I might change something later, and I really don’t think you’re capable of understanding that a general overview is not a guarantee of my final, completed work.”
Bike (sputtering indignantly): “Are you HIGH? Why WOULDN’T I understand that? I’m not STUPID. Of COURSE I would understand that! Give me some credit, will you?”
Dev (suspiciously): “Nah, I don’t think so , Bike. Nice try, though. Look, thing is, it’ll be ready when it’s ready, and until then I’m afraid I really don’t have any new information I can give you. But if you’d really like to discuss the feature that I may or may not be working on — that may or may not be ready at some point in the future — please feel free to start a post about it on the official forums. I promise I will read every word.”
Bike: (begins to sob uncontrollably)
Dev: “MAN, I love our communication policy!” (whistles happily as he returns to work on [Feature X]. Or maybe he doesn’t. We don’t really know. Shhhh. )
Oh yeah, I’m sure they’d love to be on the receiving end of their own policy. For realsies.
Lovely, another Shakespeare thread. You know, Much ado about nothing.
Are you sure you didn’t mean “The Comedy of Errors”? That’s Shakespeare as well. :-)
This is a thing of beauty. Magnificent.
1 year anniversary.
yay
The boycott threads were deleted. I had saved the permalinks and just checked them: “Cannot find topic with that permalink!”
I saved them to know which luminescent piece I can’t get.

I’m not a good enough googler to find it.
Gaile I don’t mean to push, but " I’m not saying “this week” but I’m definitely not pointing at Q2 2015!" Not going to lie, I was hoping we’d get more than oh yea we’ll fix traits along with releasing this expansion, eventually, sometime, “when its ready”. Any chance you can prod the team into a few details, maybe you know, if we’ll see it in Q2 or Q3? If there are any details you know how ravenous the forums are for this. Then again, posting this on a Friday late afternoon I have a feeling its not going to get seen…
You must be new to this fight.
I agree. I’m getting tired of two character slots taken by toons I can’t play so they can open bags and get linen and cotton. I don’t have a spare slot for a toon to get wool.
I hate to say it but I don’t think we’ll hear any more about a fix for the Traits system until after HoT drops. And the only reason it’ll become a priority for A-Net is because so many people will complain after making Revenants that they’ll be forced to finally address it for real.
they are most likely not going to ship hot without a modified npe, and new trait system for these reasons.
The question is will it be good.
The question is, if it is bad or buggy, will they fix it or will we have another April 15th fiasco, complete with 11 months (or longer) of ignore interspersed with vapid promises?
I don’t like the wings, or many back pieces for that matter, but what I wish I could not see are particle effects due to lag issues.
I have a couple of extra bank slots, most of my soulbound items live on mules, on all of my main toons I have as many bag spaces bought as possible, and I share two personal guild banks with my wife.
We both are packrats and have had to pay for this packrattishness in, well, every game we have played. At least its not like Runes of Magic and Lotro where you had to have housing with special containers you had to pay for monthly after buying them the first time… limited amounts in some cases (Lotro).
I don’t have a problem with Anet making money off of this. Without things like this, we wouldn’t have GW2 to play.
(edited by Gregori.5807)
We have been pleading for this (and more QoL suggestions) since shortly after Head Start.
A suggestion I have is hotkey your left click to a key on your keyboard to take the pressure off of your clicking finger. Also get a touchpad mouse with large right and left click buttons so you can tap different fingers on it to put the pressure of buying large stacks on more than one finger on each hand.
Gotta love it, lets introduce an insanely expensive, time gated item just to get rid of the hundreds upon hundred upon hundreds of absolute crap drops you get bombarded with. Yeah Mawdrey can go suck a fat one. I’ll continue to delete them thanks. Aint nobody got time for that.
Mawdrey took me about 4 days to make. Got a few of the time gated stuff, then just threw gold at the rest of it. One of the more worthwhile investments I’d made. The other one has to be the copper fed salvage o matic
It took me probably about a week to make Mawdrey.
I actually did it because of the pun: Mawdrey 2. I am a huge fan of Little Shop of Horrors… think I will go watch it again.
~~~~~~~~~
Now please, anet, give us something to eat Dragonite ore.
The point was that exceptions tend to be the norm, and guild leaders who do or do not make exceptions are already aware of this norm and make their decision with these things in mind.
If they have decided that Dry Top is not representative of their community, then they will not grant the exception for it (the same way a dungeon guild may not feel like granting an exception for WvW while Tequatl is fine). It also suggests that people who are interested in Dry Top may not be the right fit for the guild, nor the guild the right fit for those people.
And the accusations of straw manning were absolutely required to make your point.
To those who insist on 100% rep, what would you tell a member who, for instance, wanted the Ambrite weapons, which require T6 Dry Tops? DTop takes 2 hours on Friday and 2 hours on Saturday… 4 hours out of the week, if you want to do all 4 T6’s. The rest of the time I rep my main guild.
If they tell you that they want Ambrite weapons, what do you tell them? Can you provide a T6 DT for these members… or any of the other things offered by specialty guilds?
I’m not sure there would be much conflict here. If the strawman “100% rep” guilds in your mind seem unreasonable to you, perhaps you should start examining real ones.
I’m sure that if an officer of a 100% rep guild heard about the Dry Top dilemma from a prospective member they’d be very understanding and appreciative of the fact that communication occurred, instead of kneejerk strawman assumptions.
My question is not for people who make exceptions for specialty guilds… all specialty guilds, not just for Dry Top. It is for guild leaders who do not make exceptions… there is one that I know of and some I have heard of.
I can’t 100% rep any guild and do what I want to do: run Tier 6 Dry Tops multiple times per week. The same could be said if what I wanted to do was Teq, Triple Trouble, or any other organized content on a large scale.
If a guild is going to require 100% rep, it would be good to offer what these specialty guilds offer. Organize and learn how to run a Tier 6 DT map, Triple Trouble, Teq, etc.
If the guild can’t do that, I would think they should allow their members to not rep so they can join the specialty guild doing these events during the time the events are being done. I know that sometimes this is not the case. They are not allowed to rep the specialty guild long enough to do whatever it is.
But, as has been pointed out, if a person doesn’t like the guild rules, find another guild.
