Isn’t story mode easy mode? Or am I missing something?
So basically as a guardian you are kinda forced to do CoF with a normal mixed class group.
Thank god i’m leveling a warrior then so that i can have a taste of that farming
Your not forced to do anything. I run a Guard and I just create my own speed/gold run groups. Just yesterday I created a group (gw2lfg) that consisted of 1 mes, 2 guards, 2 wars and we ran p1 in 6min 38sec. We ran p1 5 times and it was all completed under 7min in each of the runs. Thats is just as fast as 1mes and 4 wars.
DR shouldn’t affect loot drops. Yesterday I farmed CoF p1 well into DR then ran Fractals lvl 20 (lvl 16 reward level) and got 6 rares and a Crystal Lode and a Destroyer Lode.
At the end of the day it’s all RNG.
Hi Guys,
This build is based on Dungeons runs and dealing out decent damage and still being survivable.
Survivability comes from hammer’s protection, shouts, AH, Empowering Might and Writ of the Merciful (adds to my survivability while in melee range).
This build works really well with other melee characters as I can provide them protection from hammer and heal them (Writ of the Merciful) at the same time.
Shouts I run: “Hold the Line!” / “Save Yourselves!” / “Stand Your Ground!”
These shouts will add more ways to heal, provide retaliation and stabability. There are only a few Dungeons that where the mechanics require me to switch to other skills (Aka some Fractal levels).

I’m always looking for ways to improve my build the only thing that is sorta bugging me is that my 10th point in Radiance I use Signet Mastery. I feel that this is a waist as the only signet I run is my heal, I mean I guess it’s ok as it’s 20% reduction on my heal. I used to trait 0/5/30/30/5 but I wanted my crit chance to be higher so I went back to 0/10/30/30/0.

ANET hasn’t mentioned anything yet on this. They might add in something so that we can use our pristine relics but I don’t think they will do much with the rings we have because of how frequent they drop.
I currently have 29 pristine relics and 8 rings.

Great post Invalid.
TBH I think ANET has too much on their plate and I think we’ll be lucky if we get any feedback from them on the well your noted points. They are pretty good at keeping us out of the loop when it comes to upcoming changes that are in progress. Lets hope for a nice suprise in March for WvW updates, I really don’t think we’ll see much this month.
Wouldn’t anyone else like to see this? What do you think would be some good ideas to obtain it?
ANET IMO will not change the recipe, it is what it is. Granted 250 ectos for a slight cosmetic upgrade and +5 agony is a little steep, however I see it as a stepping stone to get the final version.
I currently have the beta fractal capacitor and just 142 factal relics away to gettiing my gift of ascension so that I can upgrade it to the final version (already have the shard and 250 ectos).
Here’s a pic on the beta fractal capacitor on my guardian.
If your going for the full upgraded Fractal Capacitor then you are looking at 500 ectos. The 250 is just to upgrade it to the beta capacitor infused, you then need another 250 to make it glow
I’m half way finished my gift of ascension and I’ll have my beta capacitor, I have 15 ectos so I need 235 more to go to fully upgrade it.

I really don’t understand why people care about people gold farming path 1?
Thanks for your help I’ll look into these.
Just doing Jormag now and I have a steady 22fps and 97-99 GPU usage(
(edited by Hasteo.6437)
I’m downloading MSI Afterburner and I’ll check the GPU usage. I was aware that the FX series isn’t the best at single threading operation but I was hoping that it the reason why I have such low FPS is do to entry-mid range video card I have.
As for the budget well like I described, I’m looking for a video card that would meet the requirements to run in max settings.
Basically I’ll have to convince my wife why I have to buy another video card considering I just bought the 7700 4 months ago lol.
GW2 is such a amazing looking game I would like to experience it in max settings. I might want to look at getting a better video card but I would like to know what video card would do the trick with out breaking the bank?
My spec are below, I get 18fps in LA and avg 30-45fps everywhere else. I also attached my video settings in GW2.
FX-8150 @ 3.93Ghz
ATI Radeon HD 7770 <- would like to possibly upgrade this
8GB of RAM
Windows 8
I took a screenshot that I use as my wallpaper in max settings and now I’m tempted to spend some money.
My guess is they won’t touch it but will nerf the torches in p3.
EDIT: so there’s 20 known precursors so add 20 recipes to the forge- surely its not that difficult/complicated????
Yes and these recipes will only be found randomly in high level chests
Well after the price for Colossus was manipulated I had to craft my own. Started with 100 rares 2 days ago, 50 were carrion, 25 were valk, 25 were explorer, got back 4 exotics, no precursor.
Tried again yesterday, bought enough mats for another 100, this time i went with 25 carrions, 25 explorer, 25 knights, 25 valkyrie. Got Colossus on my 4th try, I was doing this on my lvl 65 alt (just incase anyone wondered like i did whether lvl negatively affected it)
Congrats! I’m in the same boat as you, I have had a 245g buy order for about 1month now and the price of the colossus is just crazy.
So you go the colossus with rares? Which rares were they? I’m thinking I might try my luck with the MF.
I used the mystic toilet, costed me about 780g in total.
Rares or exotics?
You can net 0-3 on salvaging a rare, regardless the average is a 80% return in total. My friend did this with 100 rare daggers he crafted and get got back 83 ectos.
My assumption was that crafting the rares were cost efficient to gamble the with the 80%. But according to my findings in my post above it doesn’t see that way.
(edited by Hasteo.6437)
So I just leveled tailoring to 400 but now when I do the math it doesn’t add up?
Explorer’s Masquerade Gloves for example >> http://www.gw2spidy.com/recipe/2372
It costs 29 silver to craft it, and yet ectos sell for roughly that (just checked an it’s up to 34 silver now).
Wouldn’t it be better to out right by the ectos even if your paying 5 silver extra? Like this your guaranteed you’ll get the ecto as opposed to a 80% chance?
Anyone what to shed some light on this? Did I just waist 7 gold on leveling up a craft that I don’t use?
I was just going to ask this question, thanks!
You do not get a cosmetic upgrade in the case of the quivers/books. Furthermore, the capacitor backpiece has an extra upgrade after the +5 AR for an additional 250 ecto. That last upgrade is fine, as it’s no better stat-wise and you’re paying for the shininess. The upgrade to get the AR, however, does not justify that price.
You do get a slight cosmetic upgrade along with +5 AR going from a prototype cap to a beta cap. Beta capacitor has clothes hanging from it and a floating rotating 3d cube in the middle of the capacitor. You then pay another 250 ectos to get the “shiny glow” which is only a cosmetic upgrade.
I think people are forgetting that you do get a cosmetic upgrade as well. I also do not think ANET will downgrade the reciepe.
Here’s my setup, its still tanky but with also having 49% crit chance and 80% crit dmg. I’m working on rearanging my accessories and completing my ascended gear (rings and back) which will give me additional +34 pow, +36 tough, +6 vit, +2% crit chance and +2% crit dmg.
(edited by Hasteo.6437)
I run 0/10/30/30/0 and I run dungeons and fractals daily.
See my build post for more details..
You can only obtain ectos from salvaging level 68+ rares.
Sorry re-read your post. Unfortunatly there is no area glow like the Mad Memories book, but IMO at least you have the nicest looking back piece in the game.
(edited by Hasteo.6437)
Only one needs to be open for the party to join.
Thanks for your input guys, I kind of figured I should not take the gamble and try to save the gold to buy it.
Just put in a buy order of 210 gold and currently I have the highest order, so wish me luck!
Hi guys, just posting this for some advice.
I’m trying to save up to buy The Colossus and I currently have 210 gold. As of today I’m about 100 gold away from buying it from the TP.
Now I guess I have a couple of options;
1. Keep saving and buy it from the TP.
2. Try my luck with the MF with rares.
3. Try my luck with the MF with exotics.
What would you guys do?
got 1% downloaded and now stuck at Connection error(s) detected. Retrying…
Nice, I think you mean Pow/Pre/Tough on Knight’s Armor
Thanks for catching that, updated.
nice post, fun to read.
what runes do u use?
Thanks!
I knew I forgot something, I’m using 5x Superior Rune of the Ranger and 1x Superior Rune of Lyssa

Key traits selections for this build are:
Altruistic Healing
Vigorous Precision
Empowering Might
Writ of the Merciful
These all synergize with Altruistic Healing as they will all heal you. Again read Burtaly’s post for more details.
I mainly run Dungeons and this build is just amazing. I run this with “Hold the Line!”, “Save Yourselves!” shouts and 20% cool down reduction trait to provide support for my group. While being a tank I can output awesome damage and hit 5K with MB when I have my might stacks up.
Just wanted to share my Guardian with you all and now it’s time to work on obtaining my Mjolnir (4 Charged Lodestones down 346 to go! I take donations lol)
Cheers!
(edited by Hasteo.6437)
Please fix, it happen to my group last night. It wasn’t a full waist of my time as I got lucky with a charged core drop, but still it needs to be fixed.
No, please don’t nerf the rewards for dungeons; I’m glad that I can finally make money playing the endgame content of the game. It’s worth noting that AC doesn’t have a chance to drop cores/lodestones of any kind, which is actually a huge hit for the value of running it. It’s still great and worth the effort, don’t get me wrong, but it’s not offering those big potential payoffs.
If you ask me, other dungeons (harder dungeons) should have their rewards buffed slightly so that it’s worth it to run them compared to AC. I would suggest the following:
Any dungeon that gives a core or lodestone type should give a guaranteed core in the end chest of that dungeon’s explorable paths.
AC: —
CM: --
TA: Onyx Core
HotW: Glacial Core
CoF: Molten Core
SE: Destroyer Core
CoE: Charged Core
Arah: Corrupted CoreI know Arah doesn’t drop corrupted cores, but it deserves something. Maybe it’s hard enough that it should give a lodestone instead of a core. Also, didn’t factor in crystal cores, but maybe they could go somewhere too. Anyway, this would really encourage people to play the harder dungeons more.
I fully agree with a garantee core after a run, we are not asking for a lodestone but just one core will help us. These lodestones are extremely rare and we need a viable way of obtaining them.
In Morgan’s Leap there’s a spot where you can farm infinitely spawning sparks as part of one of the temple quests. The average is 1-2 charged lodestones per hour so throw on your MF gear, get a friend or two, buy a MF potion and eat a omnom for MF.
Oh that’s awesome! Thanks for the feedback, I’ll have to check that for sure!! Can you point me in the right direction on the map? Eg. South east, north west?
Thanks a lot for the feedback guys, I think I’m going to run CoE as much as I can.
I’m aware CoE runs are typically long but which path is a viable “speed run”? And roughly how long does it take to complete?
I find that charged lodestones, along with various other lodestones, are easier to obtain. Fractals of the Mists has generously lowered the prices of lodestones since one generally obtains a fragment of a lodestone or a lodestone itself at the end of each fractal. Assume a decrease in prices relatively soon (days or weeks to come).
Also, think about how you’ll feel once all that hard work pays off after you get that lengendary. Feels good man.
Well thats good news then, I really hope prices continue to drop.
Also Mjolnir isn’t a Legendary weapon it’s a Mystic Forge exotic weapon.
(edited by Hasteo.6437)
Farming the lodestones is unrealistic. I get 3 cores and 1 lodestone on average per 10 CoE runs. Farming the money for them seems to be the way to go
Ouch 3 cores and 1 lodestone for 10 runs don’t seem like it’s worth it. What type of gold farm do you get in return from CoE (selling loot drops to merchants) per run?
I’ve farmed CoF many many times and the event to open the gates net a bit of silver but whats in the chests in the exp modes are pretty much garbage.
I’ve decided to build a Mjolnir for my Gaurdian because I really like the look and effects of this hammer.
So when I looked up the ingredients I was really suprised to see you need 350 Charged Lodestones!
Wow, thats a lot of farm to buy these, does anyone have any tips on what would be the best way to obtain these?
Farm CoE? Farm gold and buy them? Farm gold and buy cores and other ingredients to made them?
I really like the checkpoint system. I think what needs to be implemented is a “retry from last checkpoint” option where the party has to agree like going to another Fractal.
This option would only be available to people that are dead.
heres my guardian
What hammer is that?
So I decided to go for the Dungeon Master title but I don’t recall which DE paths I have done? I thought the achievements would tell me this but it really doesn’t go into to deail.
Any ideas on how I can find out what I have completed? Or am I stuck running through all of them to insure I get the title?
Here’s mine, just need my Heavy Mortal Helm of Grenth and I’m complete.
Just a quick poll.
As it stand right now, I just play to grind tokens for armor. DE’s are sorta fun but once I have my gear I don’t see a reason to keep playing them? Other then some extra Karma, maybe if we had a chance for better loot drops I would consider on continually playing them?
(edited by Hasteo.6437)
Yeah I was in your team. I wholeheartedly agree… the timing window to complete that small chain is ridiculously low, and having spoken to my guild later on, they said that even with voice chat it was an absolute nightmare.
The respawn rate needs to be decreased or the time window needs to be increased, because as it stands I’m not doing any CoF runs for #3 without any kind of voice chat or pro team.
I don’t bother with path 3 because of this. It’s doable but it’s a pain in the kitten
Planning to run CoF in a few hours when I get home. Anyone know if the event got fixed?
