How are you doing more damage than a properly geared Viper Reaper? Especially when the Reaper brings Lingering Curses? That’s 100% condition duration right there. Can you get that with Ranger? Keep in mind, everytime your dedicated healer isn’t healing you enough, you will naturally go into AF which stops your DPS rotation and drops your DPS significantly.
You think mesmers are bad in sPvP? Wait until you come across one in WvW running the meta condi shatter build. Constant 25 stacks of Confusion regardless of how many times you clear condis. Along with food and Utility buffs make them impossible to kill.
Now I have a simple solution : Introduce legendary demotion and title stripping – basically people that reach legendary can be demoted down to diamond and be stripped of the title acquired if they lose last pip at T1 legend…this is the only way
No because as soon as you hit Legendary T1 and lose your first game, you’ll be back making a new topic petitioning the removal of Division demotion.

Yes. I mean, this isn’t a bragging post. I’m actually curious myself. I want to know if its possible to progress if someone starts at bottom MMR.
If I was to start a new F2P account. How many games would I have to lose in a row in order to get my MMR at the lowest end of the spectrum? I am guessing around 50 games? 75 to be safe? Anyone venture to guess where this experiment is going?
Good job dude, I have done the same quite recently and made a brekadown on reddit of the matches I had and the different team compositions (duo/trio/4man/5man) I had to play against during my journey. Took me 213 games total.
If you ever have the time, could be interesting to see how many true soloQ games you had in total.
In the end my only regret was not tryharding enough during emerald with a kittenty kitten venom share build I want to win with for the lolz. Made me waste quite some game there lmao. Once you tryhard you climb.

Only 1/4 of my total games on my way to legendary were 5 soloQ vs 5 soloQ.
This is good information. Now I wished I went through and tallied up my stats and put it out in a readable format. I ended up playing 190 games total.
Originally this topic was going to have an ‘Equalizer’ theme to it with some songs synced to my pip bar. But with the addition of win streaks(+2 pips) and getting through the Divisions a lot quicker than I anticipated, I set up the 186 screenshots to some epic build up music.
A couple things to take note:
- My third match I took a screenshot but didn’t realize I was on the wrong pane so you can’t see my pip bar so I left that one out.
- Somewhere around Ruby and twice in Diamond I forgot to take a screenshot at the end of the match. Fortunately, those 3 missed screenshots were losses. So you can still see that every advancement was done solo.
So in all, I played 190 games and lot’s of salt was thrown around as you can see in the chat box throughout my journey.
I’m curious at later portions of diamond you seem to be using mm-build with scepter and dagger, care to share what kind of build you used? I see alot of mm-necros running around but they are usually power builds.

It was a good build and I enjoyed it but then Brazil released a Healing Raid Necromancer video a few days ago so I checked it out and thought how I could adapt it to sPvP. I did switch one of the trait lines for Reaper and switched a couple of traits and utilities. But in the end, this build is a lot of fun. It works even better in coordinated team play.
I like how you couldn’t progress whenever you swapped to druid and quickly went reaper again which made you climb.
Reaper so balanced.
I would swap to Druid after a loss or two using Reaper, then quickly switched back. Reaper was too much fun. The funny thing is from T4 Diamond up I was using a MM/Reaper hybrid.

While I didn’t soloq the entire way from amber to legendary, I did most of diamond as soloq and 4 tiers through legendary soloq. It can be done. Just to be clear, any match where I didn’t soloq I instead duo queued with a friend of similar skill and MMR.
Thanks! Soloq’ing is tough but in the end it felt more like a grind. I would say around 35% of my matches felt like both sides were even and it came down to not making any mistakes. The other 65% were more lopsided and already had the outcome figured before hand. The even matches started to show up around T3 of Diamond and up. I also started a couple days late and played 3 – 5 games a night except on the weekends.

Why do people assume you’re supposed to advance if you play enough? It’s about whether you’re good enough or not. If you’re still in ruby after a few weeks it’s because you belong there. Amber, emerald, and sapphire are all trash divisions in that you will progress through them if you play enough. Ruby is the first actual barrier that starts to seperate the not too good and the not too bad.
you are right partialy. as all ppl will get eventually to ruby thus also bad player will play there and infulent good player. lets say i took 1 week vacation and now all the bad ppl in ruby and i really belong to diamond . i will get stuck in ruby cause of statistic party with more bad ppl.
Nah. You see, 5 bad players vs 4 bad players and one good player means statistically you’ll advance, if in fact you are a good player as you say.
How long is a season? If I get to legendary one season and diamond in another that gives me enough tickets to finish the pre?

Real simple. Do a minimum of 3 Ranked matches a day. Do the class specific achievements while you are below Ruby or when you hit a new Division to maximize a minimum pip loss. It takes 15 days per Achievement category for a total of 60 days. Get to Legendary x1 this season then Diamond in next season. the other achievements will fall into place.
Can we a get a new Trait that procs Stealth on the pet whenever the Ranger is Stealthed? There’s been way too many times I have Stealthed so I can peel away from a skirmish to LOS/hide/escape and the pet always gives away my location or direction I’m heading.
Don’t forget that they changed the way matchmaking works three times during S1. So that means theirs still hope! Keep the complaints coming!

What I want to know is what is the proper way to report people that go AFK in Ranked Matches during Season 2? Do we select “Botting” and send the report? Do we need to take screenshots and send them to exploits@arenanet.com? What is the proper procedure?
I know in the past I have had people go AFK simply because the score was 15-100 and many times my team has come back and won games like that. Obviously if the score was 250-450 I could understand going AFK.
I have a feeling there are going to be a lot of people that throw their hands up and give up a lot in Season 2 because score won’t matter. So I’m hoping for a response from Anet letting everyone know that going AFK and throwing matches won’t be tolerated.

It says no Healing Power Amulets. Does that mean no amulets under the Healing Power Category? Or any amulet with healing power?
I agree. I’m still playing around with different trait lines. I threw this together at work yesterday and was excited to try it out when I got home. Was very surprised to see the synergy between Rune of Thorns and Poison Master which works quite well.

Close to what you have except I took NM line instead of BM line for the extra spike damage reduction. I’m also using Sw/D instead of Shortbow. Along with Sinisters Amulet. It works really nice for 1v1’s.
As a fan of Double Melee builds, this looks promising. I will definitely try this out when I get home tonight.

Does anyone know if Live Vicariously procs every time to Spirit of Natures Pulses its heal? that would be 715HP per second if it did…
I am so close. Why not keep it open until 12pm EST? That would be 9 pm PST. I do not understand. I feel very cheated. Why are we not allowed the full time that we deserve?
Honestly? You would’ve gotten to 1 pip left, then lost 15. Then you would’ve grinded your way back up to only needing 1 pip again, then lose another 15-20.
Given its a stunbreak, has no tell, and a lower cd protect me is better because of how tanky bristle back and smoke scale are. Only drawback is point capture but you can cancel protect me so that shouldn’t be an issue. Of course this will all change on the 26th.
What’s going to change?
Protect Me – Now will break stun on nearby allies, giving you protection and cause the next foe that attack you to be taunted by your pet.
Not sure if they’re adding these onto the old Protect me, or if this is what the new Protect me will be from now on.
It SOUNDED like an addition. Usually when its a heavy rework they mention it. And I didn’t hear any of the wording theyv used to describe them in the past. However anythings possible >.<
I have a feeling it’s replacing the Shouts current function. Because giving the caster Protection is redundant if it negates all raw damage. Unless it works in such a way that the 33% damage reduction goes towards the reduction in the pets health as well.
Considering this is an international game, I’d assume that some people don’t speak English as their first language and, as such, should be excused from minor errors assuming they’ve communicated their message.

How the heck did Sharpening Stone NOT make that list?

The knockback from Counterattack & range from Hilt Bash are both 300. Hilt Bash’s range was also corrected a month or two ago in a patch that allowed it to travel the actual 300 distance when before it was only 220.
I was thinking about putting Sharpening Stone on the list but you can set up some nasty combos with it. Splitblade and Poison Volley just to name a few. It’s not the best utility, but definitely not terrible.
As for Hilt Bash, even though they corrected the distance, it still doesn’t reach your opponent after Counterattack if used immediately after. I think whats happening is Counterattack is knocking back foes around 350-360 distance.

I don’t agree on some of the proposals.
Frost and Sun spirits are both viable options for high-end content. I don’t want them nerfed. Also, Clarion Bond is fine.
If you want to change anything, change the ability that is cast. Not the trait.And frankly… I don’t really understand… Like a lot of what you want to see changed. What’s wrong with Predator’s Onslaught? Bountiful Hunter? Natural Healing?
Why exactly do you think the most used traits and the most powerful ones need a change?
I’m looking at it from a PvP perspective. I am also taking into consideration the other two options in each tier. Like Predator’s Onslaught, theirs no reason I would take this trait over the other two options unless it was brought up to the level of the other two.
With the introduction of Druid, a lot of the Healing traits have become redundant. Like Natural Healing or even Natures Spirit.
RangerWe’ll be looking into some of the ranger’s less used traits and increasing both defensive and offensive options while giving a few specialized traits a bit more allure. In the first quarterly update, we’ll also be improving the ranger’s shout utility category, giving them more unique utility. In the future, we’ll continue to explore ways to improve on the ranger’s ties to both their pets and nature. We’re still looking at the druid’s viability in group scenarios and will continue to monitor its overall effectiveness, making changes where necessary.

I’m trying to get to Legendary via Solo’q. Clearly Anet wants to make it a challenge.
All while their are about 20-30 other Diamond Division players sitting in the PvP lobby waiting for their queue to pop.
I’m not one that normally complains, but c’mon.
I swear Anet is out to get me.
3 pips away from Legendary. All soloq’s. Just had a Ranger on my team that used only longbow, off point, pew pewing a bunker necro, over an already capped point by the enemy the whole match. If he died, he ran back and did it over and over again.
How did he get to Diamond, let alone past Ruby?

I would like to see a total match count considered for part of the matchmaking algorithm for PvP Leagues Season 2.
I have been noticing that a lot of my teammates that are dying to Svanir or double capping etc in Diamond division admit they have under 1k games total played in sPvP. Some are even under 500 games. I’m sitting just over 5k games and seems like to help make a fair match, my teammates should be around the same amount of games played. Or at least close.
This is from a soloq perspective. Obviously there will be players that have learned proper rotations etc via team play and that’s fine. But a lot of times I’m put into a match where there is 2x duo, and one of them is a Diamond, the other is a Amber/Emerald. And if we lose the match, I lose two pips because of the combined division mmr total.
Why should I lose two pips when:
A) I have 1-3 people on my team that have played less than 500 games?
B) They are in a lower division making the odds stacked against me if we lose?
For Ranger it should be Warhorn over Axe Offhand. Axe OH is not too bad. But Warhorn…..
Why leave though?
I’ve had games where my team kept it a close match and we either took no pip loss or gained a pip on a losing game.
We couldn’t of done that if we had someone leave the match.

Honestly I’m not getting that feeling from Sam at all, and I’ve been in his shoes with other games. It’s incredibly annoying to continue playing and trying your best, when in a team game, the other pats of your team have given up, aren’t playing for real, or even taking advice, so why keep frustrating yourself fighting against the tide of eventual defeat when your team isn’t even trying anymore and just goofing around?
Heres the thing though, Sam quit because:

…..or strongly suspect someone is tanking the match to reduce MMR…..
….but when you see strong indication of where the outcome is going….
…..and see very clear mistakes by members of your team…..

The moral of the story is: Sam’s thinks his team sucks and is not listening on purpose….Sam blames team and goes afk…….Sam’s team WINS anyway….they lose 2 pips because he dc’s before match is over……

I won’t try to convince, but I will say this: The statement above is why you always be at the bottom.
