Several matches today which are rage inducing – I didn’t want to post in the forums but this is unacceptable.
I’m platinum 2 btw. (1650~)
2 wins – 4 rating each.
3 afkers on my team at once from 100-10 we lost 500-26 – I still lose 12 rating.
what the kitten is wrong with your system and why isn’t there fixes? This one of the many reasons why people wont pvp anymore. Its utterly pointless from a competitive standpoint.
Btw with the screenshot – the other +4 was a few games earlier I didn’t screenshot it as it was the first time it happened, but… now its happened again.

Highlander TF2 rules state 1 profession per team.
No 2 thieves, no 2 eles, no 2 revs, etc etc etc.
Balance would be better, but until professions are balanced, every team may end with same comp.
If our pvp population is so good why not implement this?
Warrior lacks range….
Guardians have teles, and longbow,
Rev have teles and evades
Engi has huge amount of range options
Thief has tele and evades and stealth
Ranger sucks
Ele has stupid sustain and teles/ mobility
necro is super tanky with minor mobility and decent range options
mesmer has tele and range

I LOVE the cancerous 7 condi burst in 1 second from berserker m/s longbow
Literally 12 confusion 17 bleed, cripple, weakness, blind, 2 poison, 3 burn.
Issue is required point blank.
With so much blind, aegis, and blocks its quite difficult to land properly, with no mobility on the build.
This was 1 build only so I wont comment on others.
I love berserker, and it seems like it could stay the same. If and only IF discipline or defense was baseline. You need fast hands and cleansing ire. You cant build anything without them.

Seems us engis got a nice trait line, shame gyros arent all that good. TBH I was hoping engis for a new kit instead of normal utilities.

Its a race. Literally defending your lord isnt that helpful. In the beginning yes, killing all their bomb carriers is required but the moment you break both doors, its 5 man zerg from spawn to lord death.
Maybe make all Npcs respawn and lord hp to full? This will make rushes need to be organized instead of 1 person winning eventually.
Archers are pointless.
Fix the necro LF with buildings.

Necro (lets be honest its amazing, it has weakness but at close range its crazy good)
Mesmer (chrono is so stong. May not be perfect 1v1 the PU stealth was but its CC is crazy. Huge skill increase I feel with chronos)
A:
Engi (so much projectile hate and trap CC and possibly condi necro, engi may be B tier or un-viable, depends on meta.)
Ele- (I am putting ele here because they got a slight nerf, while everyone else got power creep. We will see)
Rev- (possibly god mode but as its brand new class its hard to judge, fight, and play)
B:
Warrior (rampage only thing keeping them viable)
Thief- (mobility is only reason for viability, maybe daredevil s/d could come back strong but yea. has a role)
Guardian – (might be C tier but everyone else got power creep. Guardian… alot of people dislike DH.)
C:
Ranger (druid is good ranger is still crap)

Here are some basic beta builds that should be viable post HoT.
Now that this with grain of salt as since the ENTIRE meta, traits, skills, and everything else is changed NO ONE knows whats viable. We can only speculate.
Also IMHO-
If chrono is popular the teles or invulns will be required. Its a hugely powerful CC.

power based on toughness and power on stab (elix b throw), and higher toughness and -20 condi dmg.
This helps prevent condi bombs that u cant remove via elixirs. (a high burn stack buried).
Comparison to old build-
1 less stun break, less fury, and less swiftness or no stealth reveal on hit.
In return far higher might stack, 200+ power, protection and -20 percent condi dmg and 100-500 toughness. Easily a better tradeoff. Also remote res and stomp.

So many combo fields and finishers. Crazy skill cap, shame traits are mostly passive.
Weakness- no invuln however you can get rid of backpack regen for elix s.
Ranger-
Take this with bigger grain of salt as I never play ranger- (I would love feedback or other ideas)
Basically you are home point or the roamer, as you are VERY mobile. With druid, you get support, and trap burst, capture, and high evades.
Major weakness- no stun break. Trait for 60s ignore 1 cc but still.
Bugs- druid grandmaster doesn’t work with spike trap even though it should of. Hugely stronger once it does.

Losing another endure pain and condi removal. This may be not-viable, but you need support regardless. This gives you higher attack-speed, stability, and harder to stun chain.
Suggestions or comments?
Guardian-
This gives burn guardian less fury, slightly less healing, less cd reduc for meds however you get cover condis and slower enemies. Considering guardian slow speed this is helpful. Also f3 projectile hate is crazy good.

I just want to point this out to the QQ’rs
This game has 0 negative effects from taking skills or traits.
So when a ton of new traits skills and a weapon are released the ONLY reason someone would take them is because the new build is stronger in some way.
So yes if people use reaper its stronger in SOME way over the current build.
However take this with a HUGE grain of salt. Its been played only a few days, TONS of ftp players with 0 game experience, and seriously the build is point blank damage. You could say the same about kiting a warrior. Easy to focus fire from distance and they become 0 threat.
I played the build a ton and with only staff for ranged attacks, i was either in middle of fight or useless. It has strengths and a weakness. Better balanced than most meta builds atm. cough ele…..
Rev needs 2 abilities looked at. Evade + tele + high damage (maybe small non invuln frames?) and the no counter tele everyone off the point.
^^ this isn’t balanced as there isnt counter play to it. The necro has a blatantly obvious weakness. Learn to use it.
Its like engi in the old days… complain you cant kill it but ANY necro could wreck it repeatedly.

Quite fun actually,
Weakness is pretty simple, you have limited ways of fighting at a distance and only 1 gap closer. No sustain (lf gain could be considered sustain but no healing)
Just hit the reaper first. Necro has usually always been first target in pvp.
The build is strong up close but at distance quite weak.
lets be honest your game has been ddsos’d alot before.
remember the 1 week period of nothing but massive dc’s/ lags.

With this much competition every week there will be teams that just directly try to counter them, MORE good teams. For example becuz esports I was able to form a team 4/5 in under 2 hours. With good solid players. Normally the response you would get is, “well maybe we can pug team q every now and then”
tldr: basically esports will prolly triple the amount of teams. All good quality ( we hope )
if downstate didn’t exist instant gank builds might be viable. Would u prefer down state in front of your team or instantly dead in under a second from stealth?

best one so far was winning several 2v3’s or outnumbered scenarios due to down state and wiping the entire team at once. so fun.
I want to point out for all future events if you are worried about ddos there are simple tools to prevent an amateur ddos attack. As I don’t have access/wasn’t there when the ddos happened I cannot tell you which method was used or how to prevent it but in the future there are several USER-END (not arenanet) tools that can defiantly help. I will also not be posting them here as this should be handled through the tournament organizers.

Few meta specs today have a severe weakness that can be used at top play. Engis are weak to conditions and have no teleport. lol.
Also runes/sigils/cele ammy are the MAIN culprit in the meta. YES we are strong YES we have dumb mechanics but name 1 profession that DOESN’T. We are not the strongest nor the most represented at top tier.
I honestly can’t understand why you trolls keep complaining. Its just dumb.

Follow ostrichs advice. With your current level of games played there is no way you know every skill/class in game.
That being said you need… well a few thousand more games. Several thousand in fact.
Not trying to depress you but people have over 2+ years more experience than you.
Another good point though,
Watch the top players stream.
Not many do constant streams but at least watch the ESL and MW 5v5. Both are Thursday.
Watch the major tournaments. This will give you the best look at strategies. In game solo q or hotjoin won’t help you at all for strats.

Last week I have only play condition warrior with cele ammy, have YET to lose 1v1 and now win like 70-80 percent of soloq’s. I topped at 3rd place just from this build.

Yea engis main weakness’ have been kind of pushed to the side of the meta. If I was fighting a team with condi ranger, necro, engi ( and doesn’t matter but lets say 2 d/d eles cele) my engi would be in severe pain most of the match. I may even be a liability if I was the main target on engi (which I should be).
tbh I hate that type of system where counters exist but… gw2 isn’t set up in a way where counters won’t exist.

Engi- S (only in this meta)
Warr – A+
Thief – A+
Mesmer – only with a thief A- (mesmer becomes the target)
Ranger – I feel like team comp is whats making ranger not the best. Give them time. A -

Over dramatic but its been an issue for awhile. I believe the longbow hides pindown for warriors as well.
The meta is affected by who mains what profession/skill levels,
For example Sizer/helseth will probably never swap professions. That being said They are the best at their class so they will stay on those. So any team with them will make room for mesmer/thief.
On NA recently this changed a bit as most celestial orriented builds are very easy to pick up. So where NA aims for the strongest counter comp with little skill investment,
Eu aims at highest skill comp that they make work.
Eu > Na Skill.
Also The ROFL stomp of TCG beating abjured with be interesting. Sort of.

Did you see how many eles were in the tournament? In EU rangers were more popular than engis lol.
Speshal you cannot compare traits between classes or what level they are on. For example I could argue my grandmaster trait in a horrid line for 50 percent vigor while warriors can get that passive on a signet or how rangers get 25 percent for 1 trait point lol.
Kris dont harp on engis for turrets. Arenanet made them immune to condis, crits, NOT us. Dont blame engis we dont want turrets viable/in existence either. (not for pvp atleast)
Monmath – Thats an interesting idea except 1 major flaw. If we are cc’d we CANNOT use tool-belts unless they are instant/ stun break. Which defeats your entire idea’s purpose lol. Tbh PI is better balanced than most other professions cc mechanics as RNG ( or guessing) decides when the cooldown is up. There isn’t a way to accurately guess when the cd is gone where PI is always up unless it just proc’d.
Kris- I can argue SO MANY other professions having high duration conditions in aoe fields. Hell some Aoe fields are un-avoidable in conquest fighting. Poison grenades are not the issue with nades… the long distance high damage aoe is.
the more you guys argue that engi is the issue the more I LOL. This GAME has ALOT of broken mechanics/stupid things. Engis are by far not the only culprit.
You want these things changed? Then mention all the professions who abuse them.

Thief – stealth and its limited counter play. (tele-ports are un-riveled too)
Ranger – just if not more passive than engi.
Warrior- So many immunities/passive built in with biggest aoe field possible. Highest hp + toughness + condi removal in game (only eles beat warrior condi removal)
Elementalist – highest condi removal + basically took guardians role but 100 percent passive.
Take out celestial amulet for now. That seems to be the main culprit unless you want to re-make a huge percentage of gw2 skills/traits/mechanics.
runes and sigils + cele ammy are major offenders. Tbh cele wouldn’t be so strong if certain skills weren’t so strong with limited stat investment.
I’ve hit 6k pry bars on cele. That shouldn’t happen.
I’ve hit 4k auto attacks on mace warrior with cele. That shouldn’t happen.
6k fire grabs, (my cele staff ele could proc 2k with ice bow per hit. Thats just dumb)
Cele ranger doesn’t seem to have much power damage but.. the passive traits are lol.
Several Rune sets are still un-avoidable/dodgable/blockable/blindable they only bothered to fix balth.
Air, Fire, Battle, Geomancy (would be nearly worthless if it wasn’t for conquest fight on point style game), condi xfer sigil (rng can be fight decider), Hoelbrak, Strength, Doom (giving poison access to eles, warriors makes them decent condition builds. remove doom and ele will never kill anything not glass 1v1)
They buffed amulet critical damage AND gave us cele same time. Add in the runes + sigil changes and you have OP across the board.
Fix the bugs. Nerfs some runes/sigils. Change the stupid passive mechanics ( ALL PROFESSIONS) then balance.

Arachnid lol read my post do you see the word turret ANYWHERE. I was making a joke about condition immunity on my old engi which didn’t use a single turret unless u count supply crate, and I never killed a single person lol. The reason I played that build was to FIX the obvious flaw with immunity since no one had ever managed to get immunities nerfed.
The entire post of that joke post was mentioning the absurdly broken trait. Read before you comment.
Mesmers have condi removal I would love to have. BUT you are correct they can’t take them without losing all viability in tpvp… Thieves are obviously lacking as well I mis-typed that sentence I was primarily thinking of the warrior/ele/guardian comps flying around atm.

This has been gone over for AGES.
Every issue in this game has hit the forums repeatedly.
We the player base have compiled list after list of things wrong and things that should get fixed. We literally still have a official wiki with over 700 bugs listed on it some have been around since beta. Its not that we engi’s are brushing off our class its that your kicking a dead horse, while an army ravages your village.
Far more important things to fix FIRST since we KNOW everything won’t get fixed in any decent time frame.
Also the “does well in solo q” argument is completely irreverent. My solo q’s are so bad its unbelievable. Literally I can roll ANY profession and win ALL my 1v1’s in solo q. Does that mean I’m broken? No it means solo q matchmaking in complete poop.
This game is partially tailored to the new players. But balance should be achieved through the highest end of tpvp groups. Why? because major tournaments, money prizes, and esports lol.
Let me give you an example:
In solo q there is 0 communication. I put targets on people at 10 percent hp in solo q all the time. They never get downed. Team is doing idk what at the time.
In team q I put a target up on a full hp guy and they take ALL the focus fire.
In radioactive we literally had 2-3 warriors using chain stuns, me (the ele at the time) static field + immob then ice bow the big circle while our power necro fear’d dropped a well and went ham.
Want to know who could surive that? Only warriors, guardians, and eles, mesmers, and necros/thief if cooldown where up. Hmm thats 6/8.
Guess who can’t survive that?
Engis had a 3 second immune. O wait we ripped his boons, chilled,crippled him, and WAITED to continue stunning till the immune was gone.
Thief died unless their teleport was up.
Rangers got wrecked. (hell they could survive if they got lucky evades cough sword dagger energy sigil)
Mesmer could teleport or immune they could survive.
Necros with flesh wurm or plague survived, the rest died.
Eles have mist form AND the condition removal to get away. Not to mention the teleport.
Warriors are LOL high hp, condi immune, endure pain, stab etc. Worst target until we WATCH them blow all the cd’s.
And bunker guardians are self explanatory.
The only profession that couldn’t have survived? Engi. GG.

I just love how everybody starts twisting words, making crap up, and jumping on the engi with no basis. Srsly people there are FAR FAR more worrying builds, professions, Un-counterable poop, and broken mechanics, bugs, No qol updates and the list goes on and on. Yet you harp on engis.
Your priorities are way off.
A LOT of runes still have effects that can’t be counter played at all. Remember the Balthazar rune set 6th bonus bug? A lot of runes sets still are bugged the same way. IP may be the same but so are a ton of other skills and runes. Stop focusing on a profession, focus on the general game bugs/balance issues.
Lol no counterplay? For engi? I know you guys hate the condi meta… but come on its an obvious weakness. We lose to condi necros and condi warriors. Condi mesmers can be a pain 2. The issue is neither of those warrior nor mesmer are viable at high tier play. Nor are they needed like chaithh said one good immob/fear and we are dead. Hell necro death shroud 2 is a disaster for us. Rips our swiftness/vigor and chills us.
And for earlier chaith’s 1v2 scenario is a decent example.
A d/d cele ele can survive for longer than engi in nearly every 1v2 scenario.
A warrior can survive even longer in same situation. Both still do absurd damage.
We are strong right now but we have a weakness, just because your team chooses not to run a necro or high condition pressure its your fault.

Yes engi wrecks thieves. You get to complain when I get to complain about the passive fear necros.
Yes in 1v1, 2v2 scenarios supply crate can be huge. So is lich, rampage, rangers elite spirit, moa, and a few others. Engi’s are the only profession who consistently takes the same ELITE skill. DUH.
Yes EG auto is strong. Last I checked ele earth staff auto does 3x that though. Warriors can spam weakness a lot as well.
IP has been looked at a ton. No one has yet to come up with a good replacement but let’s be honest whats worse a high duration burn (due to a rune set most engis no longer take) or a equally passive fear thats necros have more than 1.
Yes turret engis are completely silly. Want to know why turrets work as an AI build? They can’t be crit, cant receive condis, and do not stack at all so you can be a bunker.
Not engis fault that’s arena-nets.
Steb using solo q as ANY form of argument is hilarious. It provides 0 basis.
If you think engi> thief is bad look into necro> engi which has been around since beta. It is the most absurd match up as engi has a FAR harder time escaping a necro than a thief does vs an engi.
The hambow requires more skill than engi is a lol moment. Yes the current nade toolkit elix s engi build is pretty skill-less. None more so than hambow, passive necro, or perma evade thief. That is a balance issue.
We WANT a low skill floor. You want a lot of new players to pick up the class. But there needs to be a DIFFERENCE between a new player and experienced using the same build. This is missed due to balance decisions.
Don’t blame engineers. Don’t blame the professions/players. We all know who creates the balance in this game not our fault for playing whats effective.
TLDR: Quit your complaining. There are far worse things that still need fixed LONG before engineers.
Conquest mode, vs Deathmatch. That’s why. If you don’t understand why that’s your problem.

Conditions. Our cleanse in a tournament build without sacrificing anything we can get 2(heal turret 15-20s cd) 1 from passive (15s cd) and Eg 5 removes 1 (20s cd).
Thats 4. wooooo 15-20 seconds for 4 conditions removed. Rangers traited correctly (power rangers own fault for not taking it) you can get 3 every 10s. Warriors/eles don’t even get me started. Mesmers can get a TON of condition cleanse but sacrifice things for them. Thiefs in d/p can spam it but it isn’t instant. (6/0/1/0/6 build, basically 1 point in shadow arts)
Want to know why engis are not in spammed in every team? Necromancers. Look at good fights vs abjured. Abjured will dominate them. Not from skill level but because five gauge and toker will get decimated by nos. Simple as that.
Engi utility? Dont get me started the current engi build is 0 skill spammy and has limited utility. Remember the old teldo build? THAT has utility.
The current build you spam , then when taking pressure block run and repeat. You can time pulls and immobs with a team but thats nothing.
Flamethrower , Elix gun, and Bomb kit. Add rifle.
That has utility. Aoe might stacking, able to stack stealth for up to 12s. can blind, push back in aoe area. can still aoe cripple (higher cd) aoe burn (screw grenades). Only issue with the build? Cannot 1v1 nades build nor can it do ranged pressure.
NERF NADES. Then engis can go back to skill based utility usage not the spammy nature it is now.
Also I hate hard counters. The necro>engi has been along far longer than the thief>mesmer engi>thief crap. In fact its been around since nearly beta.

Hmm.. /15 chars
Veewee is right overcharged is a 15s cd. Getting immob’d for 2 seconds while you use abilities that cant 1 shot the roots (if your barrage/jump/blunderbuss/sharpnel nades are on cd) is a painful thing. Not to mention most of the time your facing the enemy and can launch them and escape roots.
Lol learning your skill soooooo hard.
Tbh… It needs scaling. Same for other turrets.
But..I love elixir x.. while our elites are being looked at… plz remove rng..
OR make it unqiue to engi only transform plzzzzz
