I am excited becuz it directly effects the upcoming qualifiers. Still stupid that this tournament couldn’t have been between the 6 month patch free zone but whatever.

Read this thread and had to share,

I was on stairs near mid for temple and got pulled toward mid. Instead of a normal pull I went flying higher up in the air… O wait I was already higher up than the guy on mid so I took 11k fall damage and instantly died.

Game changing yo.

OP just keep quiet man your complaining about the wrong stuff.

They said it takes them 11 hours of work to create this videos. If you want higher quality we may only see patches once a year instead of twice. Im completely for getting rid of them entirely, give us the kitten written version.

A lot of people are missing the point.

In a PvP environment its supposed to be competitive. AI isn’t competitive, its basically PvE.
Furthermore we wouldn’t complain about AI if some of them weren’t so absurdly strong with no input. Most AI builds during specific metas (namely turret engi now) can win nearly any 1v1. Thats kittened and not competitive. Most Ai builds allow bunker amulets with full damage output.
Notice the trend? Everone complains about soldier/cele might stackers for the same reason. Far too tanky with too much damage output.

Being a bunker with high damage is bad enough being a bunker with AI killing people is just wrong, its not competitive.

Also don’t argue the “takes skill crap”. The difference between the skill gaps is huge.

Character swapping needs to be removed, lets face it if a team wanted top 5 leader board it wouldn’t be hard. Make 2-3 of each profession with high cd skills like time warp, lich or supply crate. Even worse is this strategy highly benefits people with expensive computers as on kitten drive loading screen can be 5 seconds. (far less time than spawn)

Power necro has a TON of life force generation. In fact it bars on absurd. Necros sustain has always been the life force generation. Condition necros can get LF generation but it bars 2 issues:
1: they have to trait for it making them weaker (see point 2)
2: Condition necro doesn’t benefit from LF as much as power necro does.

It isn’t that necros don’t have a lot of LF generation abilties its just some of them stink ( mostly condition necro, lets face it what condition necro staff autos unless they are desperate for LF)

PVP BASED:

Basically most engis loved the old teldo build because it actually required positioning and skill rather than mindless nade spam, block, run and repeat.

There are a few assumptions I am making,
1: warriors will be punished more for missing burst skills making 1v1’s easier (esp with bomb kit, Ft blinds)
2: with such high CC and ^^ we can become top side 1v1s ( cannot say vs ranger or not yet, and obvious condi necro is an issue)
3: I hate grenades.
4: most if not all meta builds wont run retaliation.
5: FT auto damage will be worth while for down cleave (else little reason to take FT over nades as engis will have limited cleave)

A few changes can be made based on what works and doesn’t work in the meta.

The stabilized armor is great vs hambow… Not much else in the meta stuns. Change as needed.

The armor line vs 10 in tools and 10 wherever else simply because bombs/FT is medium to point blank range. You need to be slightly tanky.

Hoelbrak runes will work for 25 might BUT it may be to clunky to use every fire field in a fast-paced fight. Strength runes are better in that situation.

4 choices:
1: 10 in firearms for EG and FT cooldowns
2: 10 in inventions for protection or -20 percent dmg
3: 20 in tools for reduced condition reduction.
4: 30 in explosives for turret explode ( as its being nerfed… your choice)

You have less might stacking, so you have a few choices most are same as above

You can go toolkit recharge,
you can use might on heal skill

Eura is right with necro vs ranger but this is generally only from a zerker necro POV.

Eura already said what I want to… our entire team hinges on our necro atm, we need to know what the upcoming changes are going to be before this tournament starts. not 3-4 days but before sign-ups.

Also its a shame more teams get screwed by a new patch date. Like it seems every decent tournament you do a huge balance patch hits, delays, screws with it. Like you had over 5 months of no balance changes, make a huge tournament…. o wait big balance patch.

So many mistakes….

TLDR: new teams forming due to patch cannot compete due to schedule, and current teams get luck of the draw with guardian, necro changes not being announced yet.

Correct me if Im wrong but I seem to remember Tol 2 sign up being BEFORE april 15th patch which caused my current team to be unable to sign up in time.

You should stop the habit of tournies sign ups before patches, and do not repeat pax.

get the patch out first or the notes for it THEN allow sign ups.

Wow I am impressed… you have finally stepped up and started doing the updates for QoL (quality of Life) we wanted. Obviously there is a still a huge list of stuff needed, but you probably picked the most important one to start with.

Add in a pause feature for major tournies
Faster Balance patches
remove skyhammer, official poll saying you will do it based on those results.
Bug/hotfixes

Better leader boards ( exploiting the current ones are super easy)

If you have a razor naga do what I did. Bind mouse wheel to esc, bind scroll upwards to stow weapons. I can cancel ANY skill with ease and no worries of menus etc etc. Irritating that it requires 2 separate buttons + knowledge of which skill uses which one but whatever.

Thief
s/d counter play= dodge/blind/block the blatantly obvious flanking strike and the initiative cost will add up. They will do less damage, due to no larcenous strike. This doesn’t help rangers, mesmers though due to clone/pet bait. Lol wrong way to nerf s/d.

d/p= black powder big nerf. half the pulse blind. Less duration 2. Ouch.

Warriors: Love the adrenaline changes. Benefits my teams bunker warrior more than other warrior builds.

Basically warriors will have to stay in combat as much as possible to keep adrenaline.
Next zerker stance gives less adrenaline, AND if they miss their f1 they lose all adrenaline.
The last part means 2 things: Longbow f1 fields will suffer slightly, before if they missed f1 then they could immediately full longbow field. Now they won’t get that opportunity.

Awaiting clarification (screenshot anyone?) if missing f1 will proc cleasing ire or not

Also I only heard it from a friend so I may not be perfect on accuracy here but the 3 skill is a huge counter play to s/d thiefs. Basically if you dodge the highly telegraphed high initiative low damage skill they cannot use the low initiative high damage skill. It also hurts them on high burst entry.

4 dc’s on our side 1 on theirs.

We were red I could not /ip as it thought I was afk and was going to kick me. Log in servers was failing for our entire team.

no armor, no amulet, maxed out damage traits 25 might 25 vuln on a frenzy warrior. lololol.

I’ve played on FML, Brave new world, Papa Dock, Eclipse, and a few others.

5k tournament games.

I main engi but I can multi class if needed.
Know every strat, rotation, meta build etc etc.

I am only posting this one as I won’t have much to do this summer other sit on my butt….

for the last 2 weeks has always been skyhammer. You know how depressing my thoughts turn instantly for any hope of decent solo q day?

Like im not exaggerating its legit always skyhammer first round. Getting really tired of it.

In EU try the 1v1 king of the hill server. Not sure if gambling exists for it but I doubt it.

Also for the NA duel server you need to impliment restrictions.

EU 1v1 server bans cele, soldier,cleric,and shaman ammys. They also ban PU mesmer and I believe heal signet (may of changed this one).
Also elites over 90s are no-go.

Seriously impliment bans or at set of known rules both people are aware of becuz first thing thats gonna happen is a ton of complaints about specific skills/ammys not being allowed.

Well I knew this would happen… people saw decap engi and would try and make other professions do it… but it won’t work.

You have no boon strip. At low tier.. sure this may work. At high tier… once they know what your running or even if they don’t… Welcome to organized long stability on backpoint.

Say hello to 20s stab warrior, 20s stab engi 20s stab necro 20s stab ranger etc etc etc.

RAO, rampage, tornado, lich, plauge, Elix X, etc etc…

But give warriors boon rip and you have a problem.

Leaderboard fixes ( permanent decay. Make them forced to play AT LEAST once a week. Hardly call yourself competitive otherwise)

Team q board changes. team based not individual. Remove teams from the boards after 2 weeks of not playing. (to prevent teams from afking on top spot)

Prevent class stacking (we do not have the population to currently do this) as 3 thieves in 1 solo q is silly.

Longer q times for better matchmaking ( I believe someone found out the pve’rs just starting pvp instantly got middle mmr. Thats dumb put them on bottom)

Build templates.

Cooldown reset for testing in HoTM

Pause for sponcered tournaments

Monthly held tournaments.

Stop giving pve’rs access to legendaries while only pvp’rs get nothing.

Faster balance/qol patches

rewards for keeping a team. Not just being number 1 but having a regular team. Currently no one cares about having a team as they can solo team q for same rewards. ( as leaderboards are silly/broken)

Mini/games/dueling/SAB or something to do in mists while we wait for our longer but better matchmaking q’s.

GW2 sponsered/monitored twitch for higher up pvp’ers to help teach new players ( similar to pvptv)

See ele for channel trick

you can cancel EG 4 right away and still get the damage proc

FT 3 ( since no one reads the tooltip) REFLECTS projectiles for just over a second.

Nades do not get reflected well/at all. Use targeting (near) them to avoid bubbles etc.

Bomb kit can stealth you, ( flame turret too but we all hate turrets)

Rifle 4 is a 3s knockdown. Combine with Immob (#2) at last second for very effective CC.

Shield 5 can stun THEN be thrown elsewhere for a double CC.

Blast finisher from turret is where the engi is, not the turret.

Slick shoes only knocks people down who move. STAND STILL IF CAUGHT. Then you can use skills while standing still.

Engi is only profession who can by himself interupt stomp with big bomb. Place it then cripple,chill or be on extreme edge with bomb and stomp and the launch will interupt down guy allowing stomp.

Toolkit box of nails removes blinds in aoe radius

Super speed + rocket boots. Self explanitory.

The healing breeze heals allies DOUBLE the tooltip. (also heals you normal amount)

Mace 3 blocks for all allies in circle for 1 hit

Staff 4 affects minions/spirits etc and scales silly stupid stong with AH.

Sanctuary isn’t perfect. Stand at the edge and you can (depending on profession/weapon) can probably hit the guardian still.

Others:

Flesh golem/fire greatsword charge/ whirlwind (warr gs 3)/ and a few others if used while immob, or against someone in a corner can do INSANE damage if not 1 shot them.

Dodging while immob’d is possible is its spammed immidiatly after getting immob’d.

Stand behind immob’d people. They cannot turn around highly limiting their attacks.

Launch skills can MOVE downed state enemies. Can be situational but very helpful.

Interupt stomps can be a guarunteed stomp against mesmer and others. see engi

You can use evade skills during immob

Auto attack canceling benefitted skills ( I am sure most do but these are the most prevailent)
example:d/d ele using lightning whip hits 2x during 1s: once during the 1/2s cast and once during the 1/2 after-cast. Signet of restoration procs on the first hit. Thus practice cancel-casting lightning whip to get the same dps but double healing with signet of restoration.

Elementalist:

See engi but channeled skills from kits and attunements can be used while already in different attune/kit. Examples are Elix gun 3 and fire attune/water dagger 2.

Tornado BOOSTS power or pre-channeled skills. (staff fire 5)

Earth Ring (earth 2) blocks projectiles for a short period even though its not listed.

The leap on magnetic grasp doesn’t have to pass out of field to proc, just as long as you pass over some part of the field during the cast you get the leap-finish effect.

Lightning flash combos: earthquake + lightning flash (top of jump), burning speed + lightning flash (piles up the burn fields on location for more dps too

lightning flash—>updraft (nearly instant cc)

Dodge-roll (with evasive arcana)—>firegrab gets a nice burn on your opponent for taht extra firegrab damage.

Aim phoenix just behind where your enemy is for 3x damage (hit going, blast damage, hit coming back

Lich boosts power as-well. Notable for sigils, and wells.

Lich will proc sigils and traits. Makes them hurt considerably worse

Chill of death trait is un-avoidable no matter what ( only endure pain/invuln with current condis can prevent it)

Chill plauge- plauge with blind causes chill trait makes aoe chill/blind.

Mesmer:

Laying an exit portal then stomping half a second later will allow you to port away mid stomp ad take your port back to the downed player to finish the stomp.

After pulling your temporal curtain, the combo field remains there but invisible for the duration that the skill would have lasted.

With at least 15 points into domination, using a chaos storm and daze shatter onto your enemies will leave them on 25 stacks of vulnerability

Illusionary leap cancel. Illusionary leap has a cast time of 3/4 seconds but the clone jumps out immediately.

Steal MID WAY THROUGH d/p 5 2 combo won’t break stealth. There needs to be video guides for this as there is ( I think) several ways to use this.

We need a list/video/thread of all teleports for sword 2/shortbow 5/etc

Use sword 2 BELOW treb while targeting it to tele next to it attack and retreat. Repeat as needed for ez treb killing

If you use signet of malice combine it with caltrops ( no current viable use in tpvp) or dagger storm (has several uses) for effective healing.

Angle camera for x4 HS in a BP

Using SoH steal will not cancel the action of ressing an ally or stomping an enemy and it will interrupt the enemy’s action.

Stolen whirling axe also can reflect projectiles unlike the warrior version

Steal can be used without a target to reap benefits from thrill of the crime

The ONLY time I know of when you can exit a shadow refuge without revealing yourself is if you are downed inside of it and you teleport out of it. At that point you will maintain as much stealth as you accumulated

Stealthed treb shots give no warning.

Get creative with teleport stomps, aka inf signet, steal, shadow step ( see mesmer with portal) etc.

Something kinda scary about 2 hambows coming at me with stab and zeker stance… kitten do you do now other than run away haha.

I raged on a the forums several months back when I had a yolo q at 400-495 (im 495) where at the triple cap buff other team had 3 members in down state and 1 person trying to res. In the 3v4 my team didnt attempt a single stomp and got 6 capped and lost.

Well the OP asked for a role and I got to agree with the staff ele remark, engis roles seems to be aoe support. We aoe heal, cleanse, and aoe condi damage/support.

Engineers excel at nothing but can do a little of everything.
although we do great at aoe condition damage.

As for the peeling… compare it to what you want but peels are still worth doing in this game. You can say its more obvious in other games but there is a use for it here 2. I am not saying its perfect but I am saying the team who knows how to help your allies with peels will do better than one who doesn’t.

Every profession can have a “role” but at top tier play their is always a weakness thats easy to exploit. Engineers hardest counter is conditions and immobilize (due to its stupid priority) will never get cleansed. TK block or elix s is great, or stealth on immob but…

Anyways I have to agree with super. But on NA their isnt a competitive scene so engis can be played.
