Had a rank 47 fighting 1v1 ENTIRE match vs their bunker on THEIR point. Srsly idiots will never learn.

There needs to be a guide for sure but most of the stuff I see is common sense which alot of people seem to lack…
Some tips:
DO NOT bunker 1v1 on THEIR point. You only need 2 point to win game so if they already have 1 point they have 4 people to fight at one point and we have 4 people to try and cap both. That won’t happen.
Roles need to be clearly defined:
Tired of watching my bunker try to roam and leaves our middle point.
Tired of seeing no one go to hammer on skyhammer and then complain about being killed by it. In skyhammer the hammer means you will win every team fight.
Home point bunker going far point and losing home and dying at far.
People trying to 1v4 at far for 5s dying and thinking they helped the team.
Having 4 thiefs/guards etc for 2 minutes before match but no one changes professions.

me dying 1v3 on our point 2 people left, their ranger was then supposed to stomp me. she stops her pet from attacking me and lets me self res in front of her…………. she wasn’t dc’d either as I was talking to her during my res… she was even rank 20 something. she didn’t even realize her mistake until I told her.
Maybe she let you revive on purpose? In casual pvp I’d let ppl self res if I was having a fun fight but got interrupted by 2-3 ppl from my side killing him.
It was a tournament match not hotjoin.

I used a trial account for pvp last few days for the jokes and saw some interesting idiots.
these have all happened in q’s at the low level (trial accounts start at the bottom of the barrel for matchmaking)
2 banner warriors trying to bunk far point vs a guard…. the other team owned that point…
4 people rushing the treb… got 3 capped…they failed at killing the treb…

CONSTRUCTIVE PART OF THREAD:
There needs to be a guide/tutorial/method of learning pvp. New players get hotjoin (which some don’t even know exists they found the solo q button first). Some don’t want help from other players for masochistic reasons. Where are new players supposed to learn?
Any specific ideas on a better tutorial?
Lol you missed the other 4 thief teleports where you can go one side of the map to the other in seconds.
I would say limit to once per game of course as for the voting if they dc they probably left voice chat as well. It may take time to realize what happened. Maybe their should be an automatic system in place? Left of to the casters would b nice but if they don’t notice it that would place blame on them.
But yes this needs to happen.

You do realize all you wvw failures,that you can just place the freaking elixir gun 5 to the SIDE and stand over there for healing BUT STILL BE NEXT TO the commander who is getting water field blasts. Learn positioning guys.

Now there are variations to this. You do not have to run 30 alchemy.
For elixir r and big bomb recharge you can switch to 30/5/0/20/15
You can also change out elixir r for slick shoes or elixir gun for stun breaks.
I have also changed nades for elixir gun and nade trait for smoke bomb on cc WHEN AND ONLY WHEN I fight 2-3 stun warriors. It counters them pretty hard.

It is basically the FT build but with more team support/ side bunking capabilities.
With all the engi builds in the alchemy line the protection injection (6) and auto response (12) and backpack regen (9) are all inter-changeable.
I prefer 6 against warriors/thieves. I love 12 against engis/necros. I love 9 if 6 or 12 isnt being used.
Combos for the build if your un-aware
When going down big bomb and elixir r throw make a nice combo. They have to dps and stability/blind stomp you.
If you have the recharge on 25% you can actually do a double elix r throw res. At 5k+ hp throw r at below 4.5 throw again. It would very very hard to stomp you.
Bomb kit:
Always use glue bomb and aim your fire/confusion bomb at them. It is unblockcable and will make your bombs land most of the time. (they would have to avoid your glue bomb)
(you can also time you big bomb with this. Big bomb > glue bomb move to the area they will be thrown and use shield 4/ OR freeze nade. Usually a de-cap.)
Elixir gun:
You can do MASSIVE heal combo with this.
Big bomb wait a second…. heal turret overcharge blast (big bomb) shield 4 elixir gun 4.
That’s around 10k healing + regen + elixir gun 5 afterwards. Half of that is AOE. Use near team mates.
Stealth:
I love stealth plays. Hate me for the cheese but I love it.
Big bomb Smoke bomb heal turret blast shield 4 (elix gun 4). 6-8s of stealth.
For ressing!
Smoke bomb early (doesnt have to cover ally just be within ~120? range. Then NEXT to your ally but still in smoke field use shield 4. Stops the stab/stealth stomp. The blast finisher is where you use the finisher not the field.
And I have seen a ton of engis carry elixir r but never use it, only the toolbelt… OMG? its a free full endurance bar. If you run out of endurance USE IT.

How about this:
For a dc mid match the game pauses. No one can move etc.
They wait up to 1 minute for dc to return. If he doesn’t he gets a dishonored ( don’t play punishing a accident as if they cannot return they need to check their internet and 1 stack of dishonored barely affects them) It asks for another person from the q. They enter match everyone starts at beginning. Points are maybe reduced by 50~ To make up for the start from beginning.
If the guy returns within the 1 minute puts them at beginning (if a-net cant make it so they start exactly where they were)
Any thoughts on this?
Absolutly not it does not need this. We are already considered having an OP heal for healing turret we do not need another 16-20s cd water field espically one that lasts 10s.
Even 1 second is op, for engis.
But I do agree with the light field being kittened. Personally the fact that it ticks the light field/has higher priority is annoying. Make it like other fields with on time placed priority.
I posted several times asking for SD changes with this build in mind. NO it will not work nor ever be viable in wvw/pvp as you physically have to aim your camera to them when you throw elixirs. Even then if they strafe you won’t hit them.
Sorry man the build would rock but static discharge is a complete failure.
It wouldn’t be 4 am write I said during prime time. Also mentioned a 6 hour period or so. But I do know some people still wouldn’t be able to particapate. Still I would like to see some form of solo q that isn’t rated. Maybe every other day instead? Any thoughts?
Lol I have only seen 1 person with dishonored… Yet I just got 4 (4v5) matches in a row… yea obviously doesn’t work.
I was ranked 60~ on EU solo q. I only say that to counter any high tier doesn’t get dc’s/4v5s etc comments.
I had 3 matches in a row during EU prime time. All of them were 4v5. 1 skyhammer was a true 4v5 as they never showed. (The score was 500-380, good chance if it was true 5v5 we could of won.) Another skyhammer where someone dc’d early before the start and match continued (why do matches start 4v5? It’s insulting)150-0. They came back online we only lost 500-480… Guess who was suppose to win that? Next round was a 400-350 double cap and neutral in our favor (we were the 400) got a dc for the rest of the match…. and lost 500-470… Guess who should of won that….
WTF srsly? My rank tanked over 160 places (must of been some low rankers on other team)… This is kittened. Who can even STAND TO PLAY when more matches than not are 500-100 blow-outs.rank 1-20’s in top tier solo q’s (had that too. Guess who lost that round as well…) Like srsly… Everyone knows this game isn’t competitive but its beyond fun at this point as most matches aren’t remotely close.
Screw fixing the balance Lets focus on fixing the QoL first. Then balance.
4v5s at start, completely BS matchmaking, skyhammer leavers and never showing, and A-nets side of lag (which on multiple occasions after patches makes pvp un-playable for a few days).

Wb Leaderboards only counting during specific prime time hours?
For example all solo q matches are un-rated until a 4-6 hour period where EVERYONE who wants on the leaderboard has to play a minimum number of matches, 3-4 days of the week, and every week has a separate (clean) leaderboard then keep track of average weekly rating?

For starters though the elixir h heal sucks unless your traied for elixirs as heal turret is far superior.
Rocket boots is good but elixir r is great for teams.
Traits for the engi FT bomb build is 20/5/0/30/15
Bomb kit radius and incind powder
vigor of swiftness/ either regen on kit of protection injection/ and auto resposne
and speedy kits
nightmare runes, geomancy sigil, burning duration sigil p/s with rabid ammy.

You do make some valid points but what other issues from other professions will be brought up even if ALL of this was changed? More problems. Probably far more balance issues than currently in effect.
What about QOL? Balance is nice but if your changes are all put in effect it will create more in-balances than fixes. Lets fix all the broken traits and skills first, then the problems with lack of counter play THEN work on fixing the overpowered/cheese.
Some of these aren’t needing changed though. Seems like you want a completely different game…

I mentioned evades being low time wise and that you cannot do anything during them. You bring up a block, I assume to associated it with an evade, which I pointed out. Evades cannot be countered like blocks. So you mention endure pain proving my point that endure pain isnt an invuln and you can do things during it… So not being able to cap a point is a stupid nerf?
What are you even getting at?
Shelter heals at the end of the block. Corrupt boon can interupt, unblockable can kill or interupt guardian during shelter. Try again.
Evades are not even 1 second long. Yes thief can spam them but thats an issue being looked into.
Guardian heals at end of dodge and regen always heals at all times for all professions.
Try again.
You keep forgetting to mention you cant do anything during an invuln but during berzerker stance/endure pain you can. Invulns are meant for escaping burst/getting away otherwise its a few second standoff where nothing happens. Better yet the other guy didn’t use a utility for it.
Endure pain is fine the way it is.
Sadly condition necros with staff and dagger offhand SHOULD beat engineers 1v1. Not always the case but most likely going to happen.
Staff 4 (send conditions to foe) has no animation different than 2-5. Also it can be cast directly on engineer so only a lucky dodge will prevent it.
Dagger 4 has an animation but as an engineer with bombs/nades you will most likely not be able to see it amid all the particle spam.
Dagger 4 cannot be blinded either.
Sorry but condi necros aren’t a safe fight for engis 1v1.

Uh dude…. so you want a full invuln? Sure get completely rid of zerker stance and endure pain make it a invuln for 3s and make sure warriors cant do ANYTHING during it. That’s on other professions levels and fair.

No reason for higher health pool and engi’s traits/skills have far more pressing issues than our health pool.
Adamantium he may mean it as kits don’t use weapon power. Not at home can’t test but off memory thats what I believe he means.
Also its nice that you like FT but in pvp (wvw too I assume) retaliation is an instant death sentence for anyone using FT auto attack.
Thats why no one uses it.
5 attacks per second, aoe cone.
Guardian gives aoe retaliation….. 300 ~ damage per tick…
2 people alone is hurting you for 3k a second. Far more than your hurting them for.
Honestly I wish FT didnt hit 5x a second or retal coulnd’t hurt you 5x a second. The aoe on FT could be a viable weapon but as long as retaliation stands it will never happen.
PVE wise though ( I don’t do pve) I am sure it could be atleast somewhat useful.
It is extremely helpful pvp wise but also RNG isn’t. Remove the RNG. Maybe 1 removed for every 10, 1 every 10s etc.
Hot-join is a complete disaster, sorry. We have been asking for removal of hotjoin or atleast changes to it and we shall nver receive. It’s part of the reason no one starts playing pvp anymore, there is no place to learn.
The trait does need changed away from RNG. How can you be competitive if RANDOM CHANCE saves you? What if you were stomping someone, and the necro’s incoming fear instead of preventing the stomp,hurting the engi, and giving necro ability to res opponent, had that 8 PERCENT chance of guarunting the stomp because of stability. How is that fair to them or you?
Remove the RNG. It shouldn’t exist.
I’ll go ahead and do the engineer one
Explosives : used in most engi builds.
Firearms: used mostly for lower cd’s
Inventions: have yet to see any use out of this trait line at all. Worthless. Needs compltely re-done as turret traits/turrets are broken beyond belief.
Alchemy: every engi used 20 points minimum in this line.
Tools: engi uses 10 points for speedy kits the rest of the traits are useless.
I am glad no one has completely flamed you yet, but that being said capricorn sucks. Underwater combat sucks. Skyhammer has too many issues to be considered competitive. And you want more? no. absolutly not. Darnis is correct if they put those 2 team arena or capricorn in solo q pvp would completely and finally die.
Prysin hgh engi and espically turret engi are not viable at high level play. Where you thought turret engi had any use at all still suprises me… remove them from your list engis use bomb /nade now.
BM ranger and mm necro aren’t use at any competitive level either. Your list seems to be the troll hot join list…

I believe devs mentioned making all pvp models into a generic size can’t remember where. But also like all devs talk this could be months and months away.
Yes asura gives a benefit to the user in FoV and in animation size. No it isn’t gamebreaking but the problem exists.

Hopefully it’s implemented so you can use an option to see enemies at same size not forces you to look ugly.
PvP perspective:
Kit refinement is useless.
Ok maybe not useless but not reliable in any way.
Every pvp engi uses speedy kits unless he is full hgh build in which case isnt helpful for other reasons.
Speedy kits and kit refinment to not belong together.
Even when not in combat kit refinment activates. In pvp 20s cd between using the trait is painful. For that matter if you want to control when it activates you will have no swiftness, another very important part.
The global cd makes it impossible to be used effectively in pvp as very very few engis use only 1 kit, and for that matter a kit with a viable effect….grenade kit cough useless cough
Suggested changes:
No global cd. maybe increase/decrease the various cds for each effect to protect balance.
Change the nade kit effect as its horrid.
(not tested) make sure the tool kit effect (slick shoes’ toolbelt) is actually still a stun break.
Make it only activate on button push or in combat only.
Maybe place it as master or GM line and not first 10 points. Master wouldn’t affect much as engis already all use 10 points in tools to begin with.
Atm I doubt any pvp engi can actually use the kit refinement with any valuable results.

thief+ ( the perma evade is a bad mechanic. I am glad they got survival but srsly tone it down. Also signet of agility refilling teams endurance is o.p—-fix it!)

Guardian + ( no other class comes close to team support and survival as guardian. Yes other professions can live longer (engi and warrior) but they bring far far less team utility making it a selfish useless choice)
ranger – ( with the nerf to the spirits, kill them and a good chunk of their damage disappears, but not all of it. Their ability to tank while waiting for spirits to be back up is still very strong. They are fine although maybe include less dodge spam)
Engineer – (Although we have 1 viable role (condi aoe) we can switch out multiple utilities (kits) to meet the fight in a better way. For example elixir gun is better than nades against warriors for the stun break + weakness. We have diversity and it requires higher skill than more other professions to play. Good spot for us.)
B:
Mesmer (not in a good spot, as s/d thief does better unfortunately.)
C:
ele (Cmc does a good job but it is easy to see that other professions do better.)
I am getting horrendous lag across skyhammer, spirit watch. Minor lag on other maps. EU region.
Not sure if these are related but I didn’t have lag yesterday. This is 1 second drop outs of service completely. Been going on for hours. Game is un-playable in this state.

And your comment about knowing the outcome is very very real. I was watching some of cmc’s games.. I was able to call the score within 30 points 5/6 times b4 match even started. That shouldn’t be possible in any way.
