Hi, have you tried just logging in a GW2 character that previously had the title and items unlocked but did not receive the mail? This worked for me without having to download GW1 or do anything else.

Basically I returned to the game this week after a long absence and created a new character…I noticed the HoM problem when I received the in-game mail stating I had the title and items wrongfully and that they were removed, I went to check on my older characters and none of them received that mail, checked they still had everything and when I went back to the new character, it had them aswell.

I am sitting here in tears.

From the two hacking incidents I’ve had to deal with (not in GW2), both times they just took my things and got my account banned. What happened to you sounds more like malicious intent (more likely from people who know you and have access) than some stranger that just wanted to steal from you…

Try to be prepared for either possibility, if they can’t find signs of outside tampering and will not restore your account…at least you still know where your ‘roomates’ live :p

Right, adding to this, imagine because your microwave went to kitten, you take it somewhere to get it fixed. Now, the repair guy (who is supposed to be a professional on fixing microwaves, in fact, he personally MADE your microwave) tells you he’s not entirely sure what the problem is, how to fix it, and/or how long it will take. He continues to fix other people’s microwaves, even microwaves that came in after yours (some of these microwaves he can make big money by fixing). He doesn’t take your calls when when we does call you back, it’s very vague and not convincing. On top of all this, you hear from several people that last year, when they had the same problem with the same microwave, he never fixed their microwave and didn’t even tell them why even though he promised to fix their microwave.

Now, obviously the microwave is, metaphorically, season rewards. We’re still not sure if our “microwave” will get fixed, but we’re really hoping it does, especially since we’ve been told the problem has been found and a possible fix is in progress. We will be entirely happy if/when we do get our “microwave” back, but until then we’re pretty upset that we don’t know if/when we will get our “microwave” back. Many of us don’t want to buy a new kitchen (game) just because the microwave (WvW rewards) is broke, but likewise, in this situation, the setup is all or nothing and tbh the oven (PvE) is entirely boring once the food is already cooked (lv80). So the “kitchen” really needs the “microwave.”

That analogy worked better than I hoped and got way bigger than I intended.

On another note, the congratulatory message feels out of place for me considering there is a ongoing problem with the reward, I do hope we won’t have to wait for S3 to see or hear anything about this lol.

That should’ve been something anet worked toward from day 1 instead of making WvW how it is, does someone like the huge maps where zergs are predominant, tactics are few and far between and having to beg in chat for scouts to prevent ninja caps?

It doesn’t incite world pride, it doesn’t motivate or reward adequately.

I wish to see a WvW format where guild and server pride matter to people, alliances are made to attain goals, this needs truly rewarding content for being able to conquer and retain the castle-keep whatever you want to call it, heck I had more fun playing ragnarok online’s war of the emperium or lineage’s castle assault then anyday I have spent in WvW.

It’s either merge populations or reduce the scale of the maps, both are too big for what it is, if the maps can’t have more than the current numbers than they should be much smaller, concentrate people to certain points to allow for better use of people that play WvW and strategize accordingly and that’s just to start with.

Problems happen, and it won’t kill anyone to wait.

However I do wish to point that WvW is already so very lacking in updates and improvements, , does this laxness also have to do with the fact WvW appear to be so negleted?

I’m not a avid WvW participant, I try to help out when I feel it’s needed or some such, but this kind of things is very off putting, there are many things in WvW which I feel is lacking and now, being incentived for 2 months to do a tournament of it than hearing there is such a glaring and untimely problem…

I don’t mind the wait, really. I just frown at what the problem itself might suggest in terms of how anet tends to a major aspect of the game.

The time doesn’t matter, be it half a day, a day or a week…it’s always been known that discounts and item re-sales happen from time to time, this isn’t the first time the deluxe has had a discount, it’s up to the players to either wait or buy it at the normal price…

There’s a lesson here for everyone, wait for it no matter how long it takes, or if you buy ahead like OP did for whatever reason, abide by it because that’s the decision you made, doesn’t look good to complain afterward for a refund, just saying.

Megaserver made finding-doing certain events difficult, basic truth.

Just because there is a alternative way to do it doesn’t change the fact that one of the options is and at the same time, isn’t there. The OP is challenging this fact and it’s the truth.

A event that hinges on failing a previous event isn’t new in Anet, but they should’ve considered the fact that implementing the trait system behind a set of events that need another event to fail isn’t the best idea possible, what the OP has described is a recurring situation for Arah, Grenth and Lyssa.

Shoving down other people’s throat your opinion of ‘just buy the trait’ is unnecessary, you are just being redundant and selfishly opinionated being incapable of seeing things from other people’s POV.

I disagree with your assessment, when the tourney started I felt overwhelmed by the numbers but was surprised to be done with it in 2 weeks, not even playing everyday.

Naturally for that, the days I did play I spent many hours of said day to do it, but I mostly got the achievs by helping the zerg and server, not even having to specifically be a ‘achievement-hunter’ as some of the other Anet achievs tend to force players to.

I think the time they give to accomplish this is more than enough, we have till end of May for anyone who is truly very casual.

As a player I didn’t like the changes done to boss timers, on my part I liked the previous way of doing things, everyone had the time to do the event they wanted, now it’s confusing because we have to adjust to a change that as a player we felt is unnecessary.

I have also a hard time finding information on when temples events will happen specially on megaservers, this is a disheartening development for a older player as I have long past left the ‘frolick around and do whatever pops in front of me’ stage, this was fun during the first months of launch, not so much anymore and specially because it is forced on us by the timer adjustment and megaserver combined.

I’m disappointed that story modes done before patch do not count to unlock the tracks.

The effort spent on doing them before or after patch are not different as far as I’m aware, I don’t understand why and unless given a reasonable explanation I think it is a unfair situation, forcing players to redo story mode or work with only the temporarily unlocked tracks are not proper solutions, the story mode itself is far from rewarding and as a player has seen the story already, makes no sense to ask us to repeat or otherwise.

I hope anet will reconsider and unlock them accordingly.

I experienced the megaserver on maps such as Malchor’s Leap, Southsun Cove etc and can’t say I like the experience.

I am not sure what are anet’s policy on general map chat languages for MS but for some reason I have found myself paired to maps with french flooded in the chat, this makes me feel out of sorts to say the least, I’m from a ‘normal’ european server and have no french friends added to my list as far as I know and hardly think that alone is reason for what keeps happening to me.

This only heightened my fear about being ‘organized’ by a system and have my choice on my own whereabouts taken away, I have nothing against non english people but if I had wanted to see map chat flooded by some other language other than english I would have joined the respective server.

Other than that, the idea itself has merit, I can see the appeal to populate less frequented maps such as leveling maps to give people a chance to find others to do things with.

But I don’t agree that this should happen on every map, I would like to join a map B where the group I’m doing things with in map A waypointed to, but I can’t control that and thus have no guarantee for it to happen, as sometimes our groups are larger than 5 man, also I absolutely dislike that for MS maps a person can never be sure on the timer for events such as the temples, the wait is abhorrent and unecessary.

Bottomline is, people shouldn’t be forced to do or be somewhere, I no longer recognize the players in the same map as me and there are too many of them for the MS map events, I’m a guildless person so my connections to anything are shaky, but I had hoped I’d at least see people from my own server more….

I like the wardrobe. And the fact we can now use costumes in combat was a long awaited wish, their value and use was much too low previously when they could not be used with skills or combat in general.

However I hope that in the future town clothes interface can be a cross between the wardrobe’s other skins and the old 6 piece costume management.

I’m not sure behind why Anet made the costumes a 1-piece affair, but the truth is it was much more interesting when we could mix and match items.

Additionally I don’t agree the charge price for the one piece items such as the witch’kitten, the devil’s horn as they were costumes aswell, it is a huge shame that we have to pay for them now after the change when they were ‘free’ before.

Story Mode for Spvp

Eh, kinda blowing this out of proportion here. You can faceroll a story mode dungeon in no time at all, and I seriously doubt any hidden intentions behind this on Anet’s part. Not to mention these reward tracks now provide a way for sPvP players to get dungeon loot faster than any PvE player ever could.

The story mode is boring beyond words especially because it’s unrewarding, why should my earlier work not count? That is the issue, not with the unlock itself particularly.

And your last statement about the rewards, in my opinion a pvp’er should maybe get around the same rewards with the same time effort spent as a pve’er, but ‘get dungeon loot faster than any pve player ever could’ sounds off.

As it stands with spvp being more rewarding while pve is getting nerfed seems by itself a coercion for players to do what anet wants, and not for us to play as we want.

WvW needed more incentive, now spvp has too much instead.

If this is Anet’s way to force older players to help newer ones who don’t have the SM done, I’m not impressed.

I had all the story modes done on my character during the first few months after launch, and just like their names it’s mainly about the story, not even rewarding. It’s not right to be blocked from this as we have already done this before.

I understand that there is a rotation and I can just do the temporarily unlocked one anyway, but this sets a precedence, just because I did something before a patch it doesn’t count, when the people who are doing the exact same thing now does? Some of the others even repeated the story mode just to have this unlocked, and I for one consider that to be a boring and unpleasant experience.

If I wanted to help people, I would do this of my own freewill, instead Anet is subtly forcing me to in this way.

There’s a issue changing map I have encountered because Megaserver comes into effect going to Malchor, perhaps due to the trait thing and everyone wants to do it, unsure but I don’t have the same problem as a guest to go deso- CS or FG

One thing people unwilling to do this need to understand, this guide might or might not be optimal as of now, but imagine you do fish, kodan, norn, wurm, troll, brood and then quaggan – at this point fish, kodan and norn will still have around 20 min in the timer to spawn as the event has a 30min CD.

If you choose to do the train in a different order you would need to take this into account otherwise its a 20 min wait for fish, hardly efficient

Don’t pull that BS, Logan and Rytlock are friends, and there is not a kitten thing wrong with two guys being that close. It is completely ridiculous, not to mention completely prejudiced, that in a day and age when people claim to be ‘open’ and ‘accepting’ towards just about any type of relationship that two guys can’t be friends without being typified as gay.

That said, ANets handling of sexual dichotomy is pretty awful, but at the same time pretty typical of the entertainment industry.

If people read the book where both met they would understand it much better, just saying.

About the armor, I haven’t liked most of the armor skimpy or otherwise, the female top looks little more than a bra, I don’t call that style, which is sad considering the bottom half had potential.

I really think anet needs to hire some new people to design the armor.

I don’t want the old system back, if you suggested for them to add it in the new wardrobe style where the individual costume pieces could be selected it’s one thing, but a definite no to the old system, too many inventory spaces occupied and it’s not worth it at least for me, if I can’t walk around with it the entire time, which is in combat.

Except for the wardrobe I believe I hate most of the other changes.

1. The last 5 maps I went to people were speaking french freely in chat, am I being sent to the same maps as them from bogus Megaserver algorithms or the non english stopped caring since there are no more server distinction? What the heck where you thinking anet, this is just HORRIBLE.

Also the Megaserver affected areas seem to be way more than what was mentioned in patch note, I thought this was supposed to be a test phase but it feels like a fullblown epidemic, I can’t find people to do things with at the mercy of this stupid megaserver system, and I was a happy guildless person before, this change made everything so much harder it’s not even funny.

2. Farm nerfs, hypocritical much Anet? All your new LS events consist of grinding something or other, so that’s not wrong but players grind gold that may or may not affect gem sale is? Moderation not elimination, this game started out as ‘players can play the game and do and get what they want’, now instead of that we are being corralled to boorish TP flipping or buy gems, next thing in your list do I have to buy gems to pay to enter dungeons too?

I cba to mention the others as they are just lame and don’t affect me as much as these, worst patch ever.

edit – forgot to mention that due to the megaserver, more WP become contested, when you arrive to the map itself it might not be but our only choices as players are now only the ones that can’t be contested at all…gods the more I find out the more I hate this patch

But there’s something to the idea, it would improve the WvW experience as a whole but Anet would need to be mindful about the servers that has queues, yet this is a good way to boost up the action in the lower tiers as others have said.

With the megaserver eliminating server identity pvewise, it should open up possibilities for improvement, god knows WvW sorely needs it.

My negative opinion about (most) stealth

This perma stealth needs to be nerfed, period.

The harrassing thiefs can do, not to mention the damage they can do in a group is beyond overpowering.

Play dumb all you like, but any honest player can and should admit that this re-stealth in combat is too much.
WoW had it right, you can perma stealth all you like but once you get into combat thats done and you dont just poof out like so much magic.

Why would it be fun for the rest of the professions to face these in WvW, having to defend endlessly a camp or a spot because it is near impossible to catch a thief not to mention that the ‘quick-fix’ they provided with the trap is kittened, a bandaid helps nothing, fix the profession instead.

For a farmer like me, it is very, very valuable and convenient.

I hate having to move through my bags every time the 25 kit one gets used up. And as you mentioned, it saves space.

If you also plan on going for max MF through glob salvaging, it is highly recommended. Then again, if you are glob salvaging, you have enough gold to not care about the kit cost.

Thanks for the quick answer but how does it relate to glob salvage, as that uses the mystic one no?

I regret not buying it.

In terms of convenience, I’m sure (now, anyway) that it more than pays for itself. The main reason I resisted buying it was that it talks, and that seemed like it would require me to mute the game after 3-4 uses.

I returned to gw2 quite recently and missed the release of this item, I know there have been changes to it throughout the last months and wanted to ask if currently there are any benefits to it other than ‘save inventory space’?

As I understand it is equivalent to the basic salvage kit, but between that and the crude there isnt much of a diference if one just wants to salvage blues and greens for essence?

A simple truth, gw1 did not have a trade gold for gem system and thus they never significantly nerfed player farming anywhere in-game. They didn’t care that everyone spent most of their character lifetime in the handful of notorious farming instances.

It’s understandable why they keep nerfing farming methods here, more gold means less interest in actually buying gems…personally I’m always disappointed with every nerfing, this IS a farming oriented game but it just gets more and more difficult to do that, like it has already been pointed out, not everyone likes to flip TP, wvw, dungeons, fractals etc etc, whenever there is a nerf it always damages someone’s ‘playstyle’

Should a game consistently tell people how they should play with nerfs? I don’t believe that’s the best way to go about it

Farming Determination – Skyrocketed.

About time that a wardrobe was implemented, I was saying the game needed something like this even in beta when it was announced that costumes and dyes were per character and occupied inventory space, funny how one system seems to have boosted my motivation to play again and gather things.

The cost for the skins is acceptable, although if i’m not mistaken it’s more a shift of gains toward anet from the players side, hopefully this won’t make drastic changes to the players economy…

In the end it’s nice to know that once I work my behind off for a item, my other characters can also have the skin, can’t wait for the big patch.

Initially I liked the idea of the ‘re-sale’ of past items, this let me purchase Kasmeer’s costume plus the staff which I missed due to having taken a absence from gw2, beyond this I was eagerly looking forward to what other items Anet would be bringing back.

So far a tally of the days leaves me with a disappointed feeling due to several sales of boosts and other existing items which for me at least are pretty useless…I understand others may disagree but again, personal opinion.

I mean, I had thought this would be more oriented as a comeback of items, but so far there has been quite a few of already existing ones…

I honsetly don’t get the issue with the In Tune/No More Tricks achievements.

  • As Ranger set you pet to passive
  • As Necro don’t slot minions (there are no kills to proc Reanimator)
  • As Mesmer shatter your illusions before your buff runs out
  • As Engineer don’t slot turrets (in general; except Healing Turret)

You do realize that while for some classes the achievement might be just ‘challenging’ or ‘requires more alertness’, for others its totally biased to the class mechanics itself.

It’s a open-debate but I don’t agree that every time a new event comes out, some class has to restruscture their build because say, assault knights are anti-conditions, or because a achievement gets quadrupled in difficulty because due to your class being forced to have a pet – ranger.

Anet can make these achievs, but at least have the foresight of making them not triggered by stupid things like built-in class mechanics.

I’ll also mention that for No more tricks, the lane fading out but still being there albeit invisible seems idiotic.

I occasionally ask people to WP if they are dead, bottomline is that they are a obstacle to the event in more ways then one, specially in the LA events.

More then a few people get downed at any given time, it’s confusing and hard to pinpoint downed from dead, to which point by the time you find them they are dead aswell.

- spent days camping the main server lornar map, because if you try to join a map 1 hour or 30 min earlier you get kicked to overflows that don’t have enough players.

Finally in this very last run I am SURE that I was never hit by the boss’s attack, never downed but I still never got the achiev, this after countless failures due to maps never getting to the 4th boss or other platforms fail etc.

So thank you Anet for these ‘well spent’ last weeks.

It isn’t so much because it is hard, but because after being hard, it was also buggy.

Take out overflow from events

The players are at least partially to blame though – for insisting on playing on the same 2-3 servers.

If overflows are a huge issue, you may want to consider a less populated server.

I know it isnt the perfect answer, but any changes to overflows need to come alongside fixes to server populations.

I’m in Underworld, the server population has always been ‘very high’ but there is barely anyone at any given time to do world events with, it’s not the players fault how Anet chose to design this.

So far my comeback to gw2 has been extremely disillusioned, I would like to do events in my own server but even the ‘vogue’ event at the moment does not have enough people to have a decent shot at success in the main map.

I have tried other server’s maps such as Aurora, Seafarer etc and most either have that problem OR what Desolation faces, constant overflow with the option to ‘travel’ to a even worse overflow etc etc. All in all OoM was tainted with this problem to actually be able to enjoy the event.

Please take away bridge achievement!

Seconded, I’m disappointed devs didn’t predict this to be a problem. Every good idea is destroyed because there is always some idiots who abuse it.

Destroying the bridge itself could be a good tactic in wvw but it will be plagued for eternity by this situation, as it is that achiev has no value, either remove it or implement a deterrent.

tbh the easiest way to resolve this issue is to simply remove that achiev asap, I DO NOT find it fun every time I run toward these bridges its either destroyed or about to…

Only newly obtained skins in select sets are tradable. In the past, we intended those skins to be account-bound and not tradable. After the change, these skins will remain account-bound and not tradable. We will continue to monitor the value of those skins, but at this time, there is no plan to make tradability retroactive.

This is extremely disappointing, it makes no sense to me that just because I ‘redeemed’ my skin during the event months back gives me no possibility to sell it, while a person who either retained a ticket but didnt turn it in for a skin or acquired a ticket more recently has the option to do all that…

Note that it’s entirely possible they make a comeback next halloween, at most I’d expect there to be new skins but also the ones from the previous season showing up together. Can’t say what happens for living story but at the very least for repeatable holiday events this much should be a given.

I didnt get all minis at the beginning now I have no interest anymore in getting them.
I believe some other players like me get demotivated soon if they cant get all.

You can get all, the rarest is probably the Molten event mini which is still on sale at the TP but not sure to happen again, every other is either still obtainable or sure to make a seasonal comeback.

The problem is that I think they are doing part of this wrong, why eliminate the trade factor in so many of these items? If they sometimes chose to sell minis as a seasonal trio pack like halloween, SaB then thats fine, because they will be back if you missed it.

But then there’s the Xmas minis, people paid good money just to be unlucky either to not get from the winterbox or get repeats, why not let us trade? Having repeats of these do nothing, throwing them in the mystic forge is a money sink because the quaggan isnt tradeable if you already got one, and if you get random mini back they are worth way less.

And thats just a part of the broken system.

I sincerely hope this sort of thing stops.

First it was the xmas minis that were at least forge-able even though their worth weren’t even a 10th of what they actually cost, but instead of letting players with repeated minis sell as part of the economy, anet decided they should be cheap repeated minis we couldn’t do much with.

Then the karma chest balthazar mini, on the occasion the chest doesn’t give us junk+ karma, the chest gives us a junk mini we can do nothing with.

Now they decided to flood the market with ‘exotic’ reef riders that are anything but, unlike the drakeling, karka hatchling and karka mini that were rare and forge-able, they decided to go for this useless venue and for what? Just because they throw orange colored items at us doesn’t necessarily make players happy if they aren’t worth anything.

on a related matter – can anyone confirm if traits affect you in here? Some people seem to be able to dodge significantly more than me – are endurance related traits active/worth using?

Is not, my thief is traited for faster endurance regen and it doesn’t happen in the game.

Crabtacular Achievement

This achievement relies solely on luck. It’s a BAD requisite to put up, you
have to run around with a crab N moments hoping
- you don’t get squashed
- stolen
- other 7 or so players don’t stray too far so they die at the same time or individual deaths are self ressurecting in under 4 seconds.

Might aswell try to win the lottery while you are at it.

I was going to suggest this myself but a quick search showed that a similar post was already made.

Guild Wars 2 has the most perfect setting for this kind of thing, much more so than Rift who actually has the system implemented.

For one, explorers would love this addition, the game was a delight to explore for the secret areas, jumping puzzles and even the diving master added later on to make players go back through previous areas, I believe that with dynamic events something special could be made for this sort of ‘new’ scavenger hunt.

Guild Wars 2 is a extremely lore rich game, while I liked to hunt for these items in Rift, most didn’t tell me much as it was always just a item colored by rarity and a name, if GW2 would do it I would hope they added a small to medium description for each artifact-item to give us some insight to its origins, thus enriching the lore and making it much more worthwhile to hunt for them for lore-hunters.

ie. (Frozen Iris Flower – A perfect specimen of the flower forever encased in ice, from Gwen’s Garden and for Professor Yakkington: the one that got away)

Also, with dynamic events and the many hidden areas already ingame for explorers, there can be many combinations made to make the artifact hunting actually dynamic unlike the static spawn that it was for Rift, for example some artifacts can spawn only with some Dynamic events, or some action at a specific place was triggered, or it could drop specifically from certain mobs, not to mention that anet could simply stash these artifacts in hidden places all over the world(in really well hidden hidey-holes to make the finds that much more interesting and rewarding).

Spice up the market, currently we are still only on a farm-only basis to move the market for profit, if artifacts could be put on sale aswell, this could be a additional source of ‘profit’ for scavengers.

Lastly, the game already has the ‘collectible’ tab for everything gatherer-related, and also the armory for pvp item in the mists, I don’t think that it would be too difficult to add a tab for artifacts to be added there for any collector’s viewing pleasure.

Major Mini Issues

Over 4k+ gems after and 50 boxes I only had 2 infininarium and 2 snowman, I had to use 2 of said snowman and 1 infininarium to make the quaggan, for a game that is all about cosmetics this is a pretty bad way to go about it.

I doubt it makes anyone happy to open dozens of boxes costing nearly 2g ingame for one useable tonic and 1 ugly wool, sock or hat but sadly thats what happens 90 percent of the time with Halloween, Black Lion Chest or Mystery Boxes.

Therefore its safe to say all RNG box related things are a downhill slope for anet, they really should find a better and more elegant way to extort money, at least it should be so that costumers wont mind being extorted from and right now, we do mind.

A few more events like this one and I can see myself moving on another game, it’s simple facts, this is mainly a game for cosmetic collectors who actually ‘care’ for minis, skins etc, people who dont care already quit the game in the first month or so, my friendlist would attest to that.
I ‘will’ mind come a event where I waste the lions share of my gem and gold quota and the RNG not give me what I want, being a collector that would NOT be fun at all. It’s fine to say there is more to gw2, but its also true that a big and important part of gw2 is precisely this, if they keep giving people ‘either waste hundreds of gold or hundreds of dollar’ to maybe get the a few choice items each event or none at all, this will get old soon.

Endless tonic crafting recipe variance

I agree that this sort of thing is unneeded, 10+ gold on mats to try for endless tonics, 4 frames wasted instead of making minis to get 1 endless ventari tonic…people who support RNG like this or the Mystery Boxes clearly are missing the whole concept of the collector’s spirit which have always been prominent in Guild Wars.

I realize people will say that ‘it was rng and i took the risk because i wanted’.

But the thing is, the people who got the short end of the stick didnt really want this, but more or less got pushed to this as there werent many other options, and this being one of said options, can only be summed up as a pretty bad and useless one.

Toypocalypse (Can't join as a party)

The problem here is that they admitted the ‘no party’ was short sighted on their end but since they couldnt enable that option for this event at this time, all they can do is change the achievement itself…

Obviously for future reference I don’t want to see dumbing down challenges but this one in particular I accept mainly because this is a coordination achievement aimed toward a uncoordinated environment.

If I could do this with friends in a party I would re-do this for the fun of it, currently I would just be happy to get the achiev done and leave the horrible PUGs behind. There is simply a thousand other things one can do other than praying every single round for the 4 other random players to have half a brain to know not to draw toxx in the circle, to build and upgrade etc etc

After my umpteenth time where I lost a dolyak at round 7 because someone who had toxx’s aggro drew him to the circle, and having myself spend those 7 rounds arduously preventing exactly that and build and build and build some more, the event just lost all its appeal as it currently is now

Sadly the point is moot when one single unluckily targeted by toxx player drags him to the middle and all dolyaks die.

Anet did a fun challenge but expected a random group to do it without possibility to party -.-
