I’m a Scribe 400 that is struggling to craft stuff (which is already painful enough) and the most disgusting thing I’ve encountered so far is a decoration limit. I’m not talking about 1000 (allegedly 2000) decorations for the hall as I haven’t got that far yet. But I’m speaking of a weird “somewhat 20 decorations at one spot”.

Let’s say I want to decorate a room. Obvious things – basic stuff like couple chairs, table and some shelves along the walls. A candle to enlighten (it doesn’t make any light whatsoever) the place. A basket and a square cab… wait a minute. I hit the limit. Let me erase some shelves. Aha, here we go… now a cabinet, some plants… oh no, not again. Now I should erase something else… Phew. Finally. Now I can proceed putting lattices and little statues. Wait, where did the furniture go?

That thing happens all the time. Either I get a simple – no cosy at all – living room or a kitten museum with stuff to look at but no place to sit. Is it GW1 legacy? “8 skills skillbar”, where I have to pick only the most necessary stuff? Why? I want to decorate freely.

What is the reason behind this limit? Someone could exploit collision/interaction between a lot of furniture and crash the guildhall server? Well it’s no Minecraft, I can hardly come up with such interaction. May be a goldsink? You can have a row of candles instead of putting a bunch of candles. You can have a long library shelf that looks like 2 shelves in a row for the price of 4 shelves. Is it the case? A goldsink? If so, it’s the dumbest thing ever. Not to mention the whole Scribe is quite soaking enough.

Can we have a talk on that matter?

The problem is: a missing upgrade.

Once my guild has found a hall, there was a HoT themes music upgrade availiable for 50 mordrem lodestones and around 500 barbed thorns/fossilized leaves. I can clearly recall donating some of that stuff to the storage.

Now I can’t see such upgrade anywhere. All I can find is “Guild Hall Music: City Themes” upgrade in the tavern which is clearly not the one I am looking for.

Tell me I’m not crazy and such upgrade existed and maybe was sneakily cut down in some patch. Or maybe the problem is in our hall and everyone else still has such upgrade. Anything to clarify what’s happening with my hall and mind.

Has anyone gotten the chest in the vizier’s tower? I’ve gone there on three characters, one that had already completed it and two that had not, and the chest was open and unable to be interacted with on all three.

It rupts you. It’s a good trait, the best of dueling adept traits for a usual shatter build, actually. But it rupts you. You want to heal asap, when you feel like melting? Too bad, you get to 50% hp – heal’s rupted. You want to finish someone right here, right now? You’re stomping someone, stomping, stomping, nearly… Ouch, too bad, you’re rupted by your own trait. Hey, downed teammate, say thanks to this trait, cuz you ain’t getting rally today.
I’m okay with the standard decoy rupting skills even if it feels clunky. But can we have an instant decoy for a trait, please? I want to struggle against other players, not against my own build.

I have suffered multiple cases of blink going on cd with no effect since last update. It happens often at Legacy of the Foefire and Temple of the Silent Storm. If I recall correctly, I was immobilized most times blink failed.

You play meta not because it is the way to win. You play meta because it is the way to be effective and therefore – to have fun. If non-meta builds in PVE are fun to play, in PVP you just get owned time after time until you reroll. Not sure if getting owned is anyone’s definition of fun.

You’ll say winning and having fun are sort of euphemisms, well, it can be true.

Simple example: Do you like doublepistol thief gameplay, romanticism of the fantasy duelist? Okay, you won’t be able to enjoy it in PvP, cause you’ll be dead after the first unload.

I am not speaking of rare exceptions and unrankeds, just overall ranked thoughts.

Because unlike 2 years ago, personal score means even less now. If that was possible..

A better discussion would be “when can we stop seeing personal PvP brownie points on the scoreboard, and start seeing information that’s more helpful to gaining actual insight to who’s accomplishing what.”

Their last 3 maps have been skyhammer, spirit watch, and courtyard. Unless they hired a new map maker, what makes you think a new map will have any type of quality to it?

But even after having chosen one they still need to build it, which would take time. They can’t just copy paste the code from Guild Wars 1 (in-fact I would say most of the modes from GW1 wouldn’t really work in GW2).

They stated that they’re still in the stage of thinking about which game mode would be good for GW2. After ~9 or 10 months after that “Five Whole New Modes Are Coming” hype stream. And making a tiny location with couple objectives can’t take long.

You seems to be under the impression that they have worked on the exact same game-modes and maps as they did when they showed us those pictures. That is not how an iterative process works. They test out things, if said things doesn’t work as well as they want, they scrap them and move on to another idea instead.

And yes, Courtyard is a great example as to why they shouldn’t stress out new game-modes but rather make sure it actually works well in the game first.

If you can’t choose game mode in a YEAR, you can take one from GW1. I guess everything would work well in GW2, excluding HA and Codex.

Ehm, yes, please? They can’t balance it properly without community (and especially top teams) reviews anyways. Moreover, they can’t balance at all. What have they realeased since launch? A map with mid being held by those who had better skills underwater (warriors, thieves, rangers sometime after), a map encouraging for more bunkers in team (because orbruns), a map encouraging for more CC (nuff said). Courtyard is unberable without premade and becomes spawncamp if snowball (conscious people stay mid after enemy team wipe. But not everyone is conscious). ToSS is good, yes.

And how can you possibly spend 10 months looking into kittening mode-concept and still hesitate about it being good? My butt is burning right now.

Ye since the april patch you can clearly see how NA has “improved” their rotations.
You know playing that “effective” 3 point game where they tunnel far mid and constantly go back to cap their close point.
Lets not even talk about that amazing coordinated burst they have when for example helseth used portal got hit by nade ported out instantly and still almost died to incendiary powder.

That means: mesmers – peasants, E&E – glorious master race.
What a meta! Wow!

No info on it. Couple months ago Anet said “We’re still looking into new game modes as we aren’t sure how they will work”. Brilliant work, yeah. Seems like pvp developers team consists of one person. It’d explain much.

This is not an issue as the player continue to vote to play courtyard, the playerbase obviously likes the map.

Like i said earlier. The only ones picking courtyard are either people new to pvp who think deadmatch is more interesting than conquest (very rare) and premade teams who know the fact they will be assisting eachother will give them such a massive advantage they’ll most likely win 500-0 (a lot more common).

So what you say is “premades vote for Courtyard, because they’re premades”. Or “because they can win easily”. Easy win is boring (and nonsense as it’s unranked). Mindless tdm (that you think Courtyard is) isn’t interesting. Why do people vote for it, then?

If a class runs 0 condi clear, almost no defensive traits, zerker+runes of the traveller and is still top meta op it obviously need a rework in the mechanics.

For everything they “fixed” in the last patch…the created a new and even bigger problem.

On a macro basis, the game is now empty. They got rid of pvp ranks which makes all that effort (which was the ONLY “reward” for PvP before) wasted.

You’re kidding. PvP reward tracks are superior. Ranks mean nothing either then or now.

Instead of fixing underwater combat.

Even if it has an ideal balance and stuff – underwater physics and smooth of movements will kill all fun. Don’t kid yourself.

Hey I appreciate all the feedback and suggestions we have gotten on this topic! I have seen people refer back to the original CDI thread we did awhile back and I appreciate that as well.

My goal here was to spark intelligent conversation between the community and myself with perhaps a newer audience then when the original CDI went out awhile back. I also will say that I am glad to see that people participated in this thread and are still here from when the original CDI happened. Thanks everyone for keeping this constructive!

Let me set up a quick recap of the thread so far:

  • You guys/gals seem to really like the idea of a MOBA style game mode
    * Unlocking Skills, Traits, consumable, bundles, and ect.
  • An idea about cap points that can be captured but then reset to address the problem with bunkers and stagnate point defense
  • GW1 Jade quarry and Fort aspenwood
  • Arenas 2v2 3v3 5v5
  • Attack/Defend map with rounds
  • 500 points doesn’t feel like a fun or rewards goal to hit in PvP
  • Free for all Arena
  • Trait/skill restriction game mode

Have you even read, what I’d written? Lord Helseth IS in the winning team. But every fight against Shad he couldn’t do a thing. It’s just F1-2-3-3-5-F, which can’t be properly countered because of target getting buff overload and plenty of evades.

I really don’t know what to say except practice more or change your build. Consider how viable your one build really is if you’re getting shut down so easily.

You either haven’t fought proper s/d or s/p, either you’re just another useless PU. Watch Eu ToL final at gw2 twitch. Best mesmer of Eu (of the whole world, Eu>NA in terms of TPvP) and positioning genius – Lord Helseth – couldn’t do kitten against Ssh Shad Ssh.

I wish people would stop saying “thief counters mesmer.” That’s simply not true. No one profession counters any other in this game. What you meant to say was “this specific thief build is very effective against this specific mesmer build.”

If you’re having problems against thieves, then consider changing your build to be effective against them. Of course that might lower your effectiveness in other areas, but that’s the trade off.

Glasscannon thief kills glasscannon mesmer. Well, somehow it happened that both classes aren’t TPVP viable in non-glasscannon builds.

Still stacking 15 sec invisibility without a problem …

The point is – engineers became less efficient in rezzing allies and such sort of stuff (I liked BOB+smoke bomb just before going downed). Of course you still can stack 15 seconds of invisibility. Being outside of combat. And that’s less useful in tpvp than supporting.

I personally like doing Smoke => EG4

I get stealth for just long enough that the opponent is confused and loses me as a target.

As I said, eg4 works wrong, it procs finisher before damage (for example, rocket boots that are similar, proc right), so it’s pretty hard to get away in combat.
