Wind, most of guards traps if you just stand still you don’t take damage. The one with the spinning blade on the ground thing will damage you if you stand in it. You can also staff 2 or blink out if you need. Or just stand in the middle with shield 3. The main thing is not to panic and try running thru them

Uhhh…. I’ve been playing a condi shatter build in ranked with no issues. I would also not call it a difficult learning curve at all, imo it’s easier and more forgiving than power shatter, between scepter/shield and staff allowing you to take or avoid a lot of hits . I can’t seem to get this to work properly for me… I’ve watched the guide videos and whatnot but the spark things never send me flying in the air, I always wind up plummeting to my death. What’s the trick?

I mostly roam wvw. I haven’t heard that condi isn’t viable but I haven’t been hanging around this forum either. Condi feels fine to me. Try this, it’s what I’m running.

It’s not just on forum, it’s in OMFG guild chat too. QQ this, QQ that. It’s a constant kitten fest about this or that is the only way to play, this or that class (or class mechanic) is too OP, mesmer so under powered, that I’d had enough. Just really not interested in all the complaining. I play to have fun and do my best within the bounds of the game and class mechanics. If I’m not doing well/dying etc then I look at myself and ask, what could I do better, maybe I should be playing a different build, maybe I’m not syncing well with my teammates, maybe I’m just playing like a noob. I don’t blame everyone and their brother for my shortcomings.

Really enjoyed the videos, some good fights there!

I actually went and my setup togeather and ran it over breakfast before running off to work. So here’s a quick vid of a couple fights.

The 1200 range manips is a huge tradeoff, but considering the stealth options under PU, with 900 blink and 6s phase retreat, the tradeoff isnt as impacting as it might otherwise be. CD traited manips means Arcane Thievery isnt a terrible choice for your condi remove, which is also very powerful if you do come to face another condi build. That said, from stealth during a withdrawl you will be able to very easily strip swiftness off targets, leaving them slower, and giving you a burst of speed. It’s not as strong condi clear as the mantra, but with the DIRE + Inspiration vitality you’ve got A LOT more hp’s in play to simply soak up condi damage anyway.

Using BI instead of RM now and really liking it. Depending on the other team’s makeup I’m switching between pistol or focus and feedback or blink. Then if I’m using pistol I just drop the focus trait for phantasm hp or whatever. Still using defender, that guy works surprisingly well

I tried your build in pvp. Felt like I was lacking damage would be my main complaint. Not a bad build but I think I might like it better with a few tweaks

Find a guild/team to play with, it makes a huge difference having people to coordinate with xD

The problem with this build is that it’s got massive healing with no group support skills, massive vitality with no toughness and massive crits without power. In short, it’s all over the place. But, that’s sort of understandable as you main a mesmer. The only thing I could optimize on a mes build is the speed at which it died. And I do.

I am the worst mesmer in NA.

In any event, the first thing you should do is figure out what you want your build to do. Necros are very versatile in the number of viable builds they can run but, generally speaking, there isn’t much versatility within a particular build. Necro builds pretty much do one thing. Zerg tanks don’t solo well, condi roamers don’t zerg well, etc. Once you figure out what you want, then you can begin to make a build.

Stay alive and run thru the middle of things dropping wells and being annoying. I ran the build last night but with a few differences, had transfusion and I found I didn’t like the targeted wells and changed that trait to gain life force on crit so as much as I was critting I could be in ds a whoole lot lol. Worked fairly well but I need more testing. I think today I will switch out the axe and focus for a staff. At some point I’m going to get a soldier set and experiment with just being a strait up tank thru armor and vit.

Maybe you guys can give me some suggestions. I normally main a mesmer and it’s great fun for roaming but I want to do something a little different when running with the random zerg or a guild group as we’re often going up against larger numbers and thought I might put my necro to some other use but crafting lmao.

But after reading this thread I’m wondering if my notion of getting hp back thru crits and siphoning, not having very high armor or power, might be a little off and something more like Lorelei’s might be better. Suggestions?

Sounds like fun. Any particular time of day you want to try and shoot for? I haven’t done any pvp in so long I’m pretty sure the build I used to use no longer works lol, I’ll have to pick a new one.

I run a hybrid condition/phantasm. Love my traveler’s runes.

Change it back to how it was, stationary warden was so much better

I’m not sure how I feel about this. It’s often been nice to be able to camp beside my warden after the player or mob moves away from it as the warden will still negate or reflect projectiles, and if points in inspiration, provide regen.

So, this is the build I’ve been using for the last couple months and I really enjoy it, the play style suits me. It’s a roaming/small group build which is mostly what I do. A hybrid condition/phantasm.

But I’m always looking at how I could improve things. I feel like my survivability is good and that the two cavalier trinkets probably don’t do me a whole lot of good and would likely be better changed to zerker. I’m also not quite sure that I need quite that much condition duration and am wondering if losing 10% would be fine but I’m not good at figuring out all that math stuff so I’m asking if anyone here might have an idea lol. Yep. He plays very well, and actually got me two times, when I wasn’t fast enough on my blocks. However, it only took me two fights to effectively counter him, and the rest of the duels were rather quicker wins, although still requiring a pretty high level of counterplay. Definitely possible to beat the phantasm build with it, but only if they aren’t ready to counter.

If you like to shatter go with one of Osi’s shatter builds, they work great in pve as well. If you don’t want to shatter as much use Pyro’s PVE Phantasm build, it works great and can be a little more versatile for team support if you’re running dungeons.

You have half shatter traits and half phantasm traits. You have all pvt gear selected except for a carrion staff which is kinda random as your condition damage is next to nothing lol. Might be a good idea to figure out what you want to do with your build (pve, wvw, do you like to shatter or not- tho all builds will shatter, just some not as much as others lol)
