Some people have trouble understanding a satire.
Right?
I think you both just got trolled. Hard.
To be fair, part of the reason why the Zhaitan fight was so easy for us was because over the course of the Orr campaign we had wiped out most of its minion-production and gathering facilities (Sunken Ships and the Temple of Lyssa), then blinded and starved it (by defeating multiple Eyes of Zhaitan and its single, ugly Mouth).
The other reason why the fight was so easy is because Anet tripped up at the last moment and failed to deliver an epic conclusion. Sorry, guys! I love you all but that last fight was honestly…. bad. Please never do it again. Ever.
Spoilers.
The fight against Mordremoth is actually a good, epic saga, but where it fails is in its perspective. At the very start of the final fight you get a word from either Canach or Rytlock (I forget which) mentioning that all the fighting going on above you, it’s now a perfect time to attack Mordremoth where it’s weakened. As the Pact’s current leader (with Trahearne missing), we don’t do a single thing to see what our forces are doing or what they are capable of. We just… go around them entirely.
An idea for what could have happened would involve our PC organizing the remnants of the Pact forces in Dragon Stand for that final push, understanding that Mordremoth is supposed to have a weakness but realizing that if one final push isn’t made then and there, the Jungle Dragon is likely to destroy the Pact entirely. Essentially, we end up playing the meta event, though our PC is forced to make several lane changes in an effort to keep the ball rolling. (And not by making us do the actual meta. Other players would complain so hard if half of their standing forces suddenly went from one lane to the next, ignoring the overall goal of the map).
At some point near the end of the push, DE2.0 comes across Mordrem Faolain and both Braham and Caithe charge off to confront her. Not wanting to lose our best fighters (well, not wanting to lose Braham, as we can’t trust Caithe yet), the PC pulls the rest of the team to go and hunt our Norn friend down. Laranthir (because why not?) encourages the PC to go, offering words of encouragement and the promise to take the fight to Mordremoth in the PC’s stead.
From there we can have our PC hunt down Mordrem Faolain and somehow stumble into Mordremoth’s weakness: killing him from inside his mind.
With something like that, we’d (the players, not the PC) could feel just how desperate the Pact is to win this fight against Mordremoth, before finally heading into the final battle to defeat him.
The thing to becoming a literal “revenant” (as opposed to being a person who has studied how to use the Mists like it seems to imply) is that you need to leave Tyria before you can return. Being defeated does not necessarily work in all cases, as it’s not death.
As I see it, we have two options:
1.) We physically leave the physical world and enter the Mists through a portal or tear of some kind, and return
2.) You might be able to argue that your character suffered a near-death experience in which case their spirit may have departed for the Mists, and while there were imparted with the skills to become a revenant, but a timely rescue and a long recovery eventually ended up to their return to life.
In the latter case though, it would be almost impossible to pull off without some kind of rescue. People who are left on the battlefield to die either get up and go home or just perish due to blood loss. They would need to be rescued from certain death for #2 to work.
Also, if the first point is correct (meaning a revenant is someone who has gone into the Mists and returned), doesn’t that make every Norn shaman a revenant because they are fully capable of opening portals to the Mists for themselves and others, and successfully return in most cases.
The Druid is a level 80 only trait line that opens up after you’ve unlocked every other trait and skill point for your character. It can fill a variety of roles in any game mode, but I find it works best with conditions (damage over time effects) and healing/support, in PvP.
If you’re looking for ranged combat, a longbow might be better for you (but even if you want to play melee as much as possible, keep a spare longbow in your bags just in case!)
For melee, take the mainhand sword, but beware that its auto-attack can force you to face tank some pretty nasty attacks you might be otherwise able to block or avoid with other weapon sets. Still, the sword is my weapon of choice, and with evades built into its #2 and #3, makes for a fine weapon set that will let you dance around the battlefield and keep up with your opponents, or get around them.
Offhand axe or dagger compliments the sword well. If you want some extra damage, take the axe. If you want some extra evades, or poison to slow down healing, take the dagger. The warhorn is good, but you might find it more useful for larger group play over 1-2 people.
A “DPS class with good survivability” fits the ranger perfectly, and I highly recommend you give the class a try. I only want to reiterate a previous point in saying that if you take the mainhand sword, be prepared to take -some- damage because its attack chains can temporarily (1/4-1/2 second at the most, but I’m guessing) prevent you from using other skills to avoid big hits. It’s still my favourite weapon, oddly enough.
I can understand not permitting a fractal track because the availability of rewards is based on difficulty. Almost all other portions of the game (most notably dungeons) do not have that.
How about we get some of those ancient, PvP-exclusive armour sets back, instead? Wtb Stalwart and Tribal sets.
Just to throw a monkey wrench into the system (not that I believe it much, myself).
@Vlad Why would a Mesmer use mind control in order to elevate their status to head of a given organization or group of people? Wouldn’t it be safer (and wiser) to instead sit in the shadows and manipulate the leader into making the choices you want them to make? That way, in case of a revolt the figurehead (now the scapegoat) gets all the blame and the Mesmer can hide away and try again when a new leader is appointed.
Tarnished Coast for US and… Piken Square for EU? I think?
Try joining one of those servers to help match you up to the roleplayers there. I know DR is a hotspot for RP in Tarnished Coast, so check the bars in the area.
Just to clarify for people who may not understand thieves: Sword Pistol is a perfectly viable alternative to dagger/dagger, as is stated here:
http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Thief_-_D/D_S/P_Shortbow
For the build you’re using, you’re expected to swap between S/P and D/D depending upon the number of targets you’re faced with. 3+ targets and S/P becomes the better option. Just 1-2? Stick with dagger. You don’t much need to spam initiate-burning skills (D/D’s auto should do just fine), at least until something’s health gets into the Heartseeker spamming range.
While I don’t like having to play the Courtyard map (unranked is where I spend most of my time these days), I still try to enjoy my experience on said map. But there are a few problems with not only the map but also how the game mode itself is set up.
I’ll start with the game mode because that list is shorter:
1.) Spawn points – I don’t really care if I have three doors or avenues of attack when I come out of my spawn point, the core problem of this game type is that there are -only- three places I can make an appearance, and chances are good that one of those three spots is going to be near instant death for me if my team isn’t doing so good at that time. We need more places on the map to spawn. Give each side two or three spawn locations on the map and make players alternate on which ones they appear at, or let them choose where they want to come back from.
2.) Mini-Objectives – What I mean by this is that there is currently nothing for us to do on our only DM map besides kill the other team. Give us secondary objectives that can provide us with a boost or help turn the game around! Like the Ferocity buff from Temple of the Silent Storm.
Courtyard
1.) High Walls – this map suffers greatly because of this. Everywhere we go we’re surrounded by walls that extend far higher than our cameras can zoom out, forcing us to have a narrow view of the battlefield, or a sudden zoom-in if we have to turn quickly. This can get disorienting and force us players to spend more time getting our bearings with the new view inside our character’s heads (with the eyeballs showing, no less!) than actually fighting. This leads me to my next point:
2.) Line of Sight – also a great weakness for this map. There is literally no where to hide from ranged fire except the side passages, which suffer from the above problem. The only place we can go to avoid sudden camera jerkiness is the centre of the map, but that is essentially the same a waving a giant “KILL ME!” sign around because there’s absolutely nothing to hide behind.
3.) Spacing – I’ve also noticed that most group fights tend to happen only in front of each team’s spawning location, and the one part of the outer curve where the rock formation that looks like stairs rises to meet it. While that’s only my experience, I still think that this map (and future death match maps) need to give us a reason to move around a bit. Give us an arrow cart or a cannon or a ballista somewhere. – But do it like Raid on the Capricorn, where we have to fetch ammo to use it. That will force players to engage one another in different places and help get them to see more of the map than just one or two channels to the enemy base.
@ OP
You wanted polearms, yes? Isn’t that what spears are right now?
I would loooooove to have thief spear on land. BRING ON THE LAND SPEARS!
OH axe needs a rework for pvp. Whirling Defense is unusable/suicidal, and while PoS does massive damage, its CC remains too slow and clumsy.
I run sPvP with the Knight’s Amulet, and it makes Whirling Defense work. The 4s of retal makes the skill an offensive tool when up against opponents who hit fast and hard (like GS warriors).
PoS should remain the same, though I’d like to see it not fall off of ledges like the breakable tiles in Skyhammer.
I’ve been wondering for a while now, since Mordremoth apparently took over the minds of many Sylvari. Since the Soundless have little or no protection from his mental powers (thanks to their blocking of the Dream), is it right to assume that all Soundless are now minions of Mordremoth?
I’ve only seen one turret engie be good at playing the spec and even then, I think he’s moved to something else now.
You just have to keep trying to figure out what their weakness is to beat them. If YOU play engie yourself, the best thing to use to fight a turret engie is Elixir U (because the toss elixir U creates a projectile defence) or Flamethrower (which also has a 1second projectile defence and the added ability of knocking people around) and if you are any other class, you can try figuring out which skills can hit through projectile defence (just incase they are using the turret bubble trait) or AoE because that’s pretty good as well.
Find their weakness? You mean AoEs? A turret engie’s got a bit of CC (if they use Rocket, Thumper, and run with a rifle in hand), but if you spend some time taking down their turrets you’re going to find that the fight is a lot easier for 30-40 seconds while they come off cooldown.
Alternatively, you could try to get one or two other players to attack the engie on point. One of you can even be in charge for taking down the turrets, to make the fight easier!
I suppose the pirate sylvari could be classified as Soundless without the soundless vibe? The Soundless, as I recall, just want to live in peace and not have the tree’s influence in their ear/head all the time. The pirates, similarly, are playing by their own code, not goodie-two-shoes like most sylvari, but not quite so dark as the Nightmare Court. After all, they only really kill us because we’re invading their territory (or it simulates them beating us up, and the waypoint fee doubles as what they stole from our body). But we just give them death in return…
Never mind. I’m overthinking this, Sylvari just like pirating for pirating sake, and aren’t nightmarish in their memories (but the Court probably loves them all the same). Hmm, are the Court and pirates ever on the same map?
The only key element between Soundless and every other Sylvari that isn’t a Courtier or a regular ol’ Dreamer is that the Soundless actively erect and maintain mental barriers between themselves and the Pale Tree. A pirate Sylvari may not do that, unless they also happen to be Soundless, themselves.
Granted, my characters haven’t technically gotten that far into Dry Top, but if they did find Omadd’s Machine and discover its purpose and history, they’d probably avoid it.
We all know what happened to the first person who went into the machine. She went on a crazy rampage across most of known Tyria and destroyed a major bastion of commerce and trade before being put down. My cast of citizens and champions don’t want to become the second Scarlet Briar (or third, or fourth, depending upon how many people have used it since they discovered it). I’d think most people who were not immediately intrigued by the machine would probably want to stay away for the same reason.
As far as I am concerned, my characters will only ever act as an unknown third party in a story sequence, if they participate in the LS at all. Sure, my elementalist may have the the story done, and I may even do the LS achievements on her – but when it comes to RP, she hasn’t participated in any of it. If you asked her about Rox, Braham, Taimi, Marjory, or Kasmeer, she’d say “Who?” and then get all confused. She’s just a traveller with a mission and has never met those five before.
Strider’s defense …why are they keeping it alive? It looks horrid. What kinda ranger woud stand and spam melee while being under ranged fire couting that this will save him (1/5 of a chance)?
What this should be imho is a projectile shield like with whirling defense, for example:
Strider’s Defense.
Your Sword, Greatsword and Spear autoattacks reflect projectiles while under effect of quickness. As long as you’re in auto attack & quickness, shield is up. When using something else then auto, or quickness expired, back to normal mode.
Spear #2 reflects projectiles, and that seems a little OP given how frequently we can get quickness from traits, gearing, and utilities. How about it they reflect projectiles on their third swing?
Keep in mind, the way Entangle currently works and lasts, if someone manages to escape the immobilize but fails to destroy the vines, they can still be kited/pushed back into those vines and immobilized again.
The changes done to this skill are both a nerf (shorter-duration vines leading to less chance of re-immobilize) and a buff (being able to cast it more frequently in all modes of play).
Personally, I think it’s a decent buff for sPvP (I only do hotjoins here, don’t hate me!), allowing us to use the skill more frequently. And for WvW, when faced with small groups, or just to see what happens in big zergs.

Any idea where Riot Alice ran off to? She disappeared from the bar she was hiding in during the first episode.
Isaac Clarke, Dead Space?
Well, its a rubbish mechanic.
I like the glass and the cliffs, and such, but the hammer is ridon-ku-lous.
The only real cheap part about the Skyhammer is that you can aim it on one of the platforms around each of the different points and score hits without anyone seeing the laser effect. Sure, the shooter won’t cover 100% of the node that way, but it still works effectively on all points.
Just a thought that popped into my head while reading some of this from Konig’s final posts to the start of this last page:
1.) We know that Sylvari were first born in 1302. There were twelve of them, and they are known as the Firstborn by just about anyone who meets them or has heard of them. You can’t talk to any Sylvari about Trahearne without them telling you he’s one of the Firstborn.
2.) 6-7 years later (1308-1309), the Secondborn awaken. Caderyn is the first of the Secondborn, who eventually founds the Nightmare Court (and becomes Faolain’s minion later on).
3.) We discover that Scarlet was born in 1304, a couple years before the Secondborn woke up, and a couple years after the Firstborn did.
4.) Rather than Anet correct this tiny, tiny mistake in the lore, they have instead opted to tell the part of the community to deal with their own inconsistency.
Might as well have told the Lore community to suck it.
Anet should have just released a very short blog post marking a correction to the date of Scarlet’s birth, a one-sentence apology for confusing the playerbase with a clearly incorrect date, and a promise to fact-check better in the future. Players might grumble about it but at least they’d be able to get over it more easily.
Also, weren’t the Bloodstones responsible for the four schools of magic (Aggression, Denial, Destruction, Preservation) in Tyria, and that no one could master more than one at all?…
And then comes GW2, which told us that the Bloodstones not only did not split magic, but that everyone could have mastered every school at the same time, if they so chose.
I mean, really.
Elementalists alone (GW2) have three schools of magic from the original Guild Wars: Destruction (technically all four attunements but primarily fire/air), Preservation (water/earth), and Denial (water/air/earth). For some strange, strange reason every human in all of GW1 didn’t think to try to dual- triple- or quadra-specialize. GW2 lore has now told us that all humans back in GW1 were completely incompetent – even the heroes you all (might) know and love (or hate).
There was no reason beyond superstition that they should not or could not have tried to train in more than one school of magic. And we all know that magic users (across all platforms, time, and space) have a knack for being curious about everything related to their craft. So why didn’t at least one of them try to master two schools of magic? Or three? Or all four?
Not every human in GW1 could have been dropped on his or her head as a baby – unless it was a cultural thing that game, but you’d think Anet would have told the community about it somewhere or continued on with it into GW2.
All the lore fans of this game are asking for is a little consistency in the lore, and the ability for the writers to man (or woman) up and admit to making a mistake, instead of telling them to deal with an error that throws a major chunk of racial lore into disarray.
Sylvari are an entirely unique race of sentient plant beings that have only been alive for 25 years or so. Their history is so short right now that anything and everything they do up until now and into the near future is important. When they’ve reached the age of the other races, then we can afford to skip on some of the details.
-Asuran Hero creates a working Infinity Ball
-Realizes they will go mad with power after their alter-ego from the future or an alternate reality tries to kill them, and they swear off the Infinity Ball for good
-Creates a paradox in the space-time continuum, as there is now no one to create Steam Creatures
-Scarlet is created to fix the paradox
She is not easy, but it was the only challenge in this game for me. Yesterday I killed her 4 times and made 8 orb achievment.
Here is build I used if someone is interested (warrior).
http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?fJAQJARTjMdU4ZVIOewJaAmg64LHAKfiqIdL82BPA-TBSBABUcBAua/hbU/BLlfLqEEkDBwCPAAAOCAkCYrhRA-e
I think all of the Queen’s Gauntlet fighters are immune to immobilize. I could be wrong.
Maybe it’s because I’ve fought (and beat) Liadri in the last Gauntlet event, but I find her to be simple enough. Trying to fight her as a rifle warrior for the new title with no luck so far (curse Anet for making me fight her AGAIN to get it), but most of the problems I am having are my own. Dodging when I probably don’t need to, which leads to endurance starvation when I do need to dodge, etc.
It’s not a hard fight; it just takes practice.
I’m assuming that the Breachmaker had (or would have, had it lived) sent a large amount of magical energy directly to one or more Elder Dragons. You’re absolutely right that they wouldn’t go to sleep to just a good meal, but what if Scarlet’s intent hadn’t been to awaken an Elder Dragon, but to force-feed them until they had no food left to eat?
YOU CAN HAVE YOUR CAKE AND EAT IT TOO! EAT IT! EAT ALL OF THE CAKE. EAT EVERY CAKE UNTIL THERE ARE NO MORE CAKES LEFT IN THE WORLD. THE CAKE IS NOT A LIE.
Just a thought, but if she intended to charge the Elder Dragons with redirected leyline energy, would it not be possible that she intended to simply stuff them full of food (magic) so that they sleep again?
Or, perhaps she intended to lure multiple Elder Dragons to the Breachmaker, and then try to destroy them or let them destroy one another?
How it is now is how i prefer. It’s better with the restrictions otherwise all the traits would be balanced around being able to be attainable at 2 trait points which’ll render our GM traits massively nerfed.
What would be nice is the introduction of more adept and master traits though.
The idea would be that you still have to level to 80 in order to unlock your master and grandmaster level traits. Once you get there, you can place them in whatever slot you want, so long as it’s within the same line. So I if I were a Mesmer, I could have Chaos XI in its adept or master slot, but I would not be able to place it in the other trait lines (Inspiration, Illusions, etc.).
I’ve done some thinking on traits for various classes. I think a lot of us can agree that there are a few traits we wish we had room to use, with other traits in the same line. So far, as we unlock the Adept, Master, and Grandmaster levels, we can place traits of lower quality into these slots higher tiers.
But I was wondering. What if we could assign our traits into any level slot (Adept, Master, Grandmaster), so long as it stayed within the same line it was found in? Would that open up more build diversity, or would it make some classes completely overpowered?
Keep in mind that with what I had thought about, you would still need to progress to a point where you could unlock the different levels, so you can’t get the best Master and Grandmaster traits without putting in the effort to acquire them by levelling up. When you did have them available, you could put them just about anywhere in the line they came from. (ex. Illusionary Persona [Illusions XI] in the Adept slot, when you’re level 80)
Your thoughts would be appreciated.
If he unionized the repairmen, they would probably go on strike -eventually-. I mean, really. Minimum wage while fighting off hordes of zombies in Orr? Who is going to take that job? Seriously!
I was very disappointed when I saw the Dark Souls armour set did not look at all like a Dark Souls armour set on females. Phalanx Heavy-Armor fail.
I heard mention of +boon duration being too powerful for their tastes (I have no evidence to back it up so take this with a grain of salt), but it really messes up my shout guardian’s build. Now she can’t maintain almost-perma swiftness with Save Yourselves! and Retreat!.
You see, in my opinion, game is the real thing, as real as this computer and that tree, because it was made from real and it incorporates real values and morals, emotions, norms…you name it.
Your words may not hurt Scarlet, but your words may hurt you, if you cannot express your real values, morals etc. (see below on how to counter dis)
Games affect us because they are real, at least in a metaphorical way.
A death in fiction can affect as to the same extent as it may in real life. Also, what’s so real about real life? As you said, you do things in game that you wouldn’t in real life. In that extent, it’s more real than the real thing since nothing is holding you back.Onto game, I have no problem with ArenaNet trying to tell their own story, I have my own story of the character that I play and that way, I can express myself.
Thanksies, Lexxypooh
I agree with that last sentiment. The first character I brought into the Dead End Tavern was the only one I brought to face off against Scarlet and her forces inside Lion’s Arch. The… choice of dialogue didn’t really suit her well. She’d have preferred to go get a drink and then take a nap.
But on the other hand, this game has a T (Teen) rating. I don’t think that this part of the story was meant for an adult (or at least older) audience. It’s light-hearted.
Technically, every single Sylvari is the brother or sister of all the others (Edit: include Nightmare Court and Soundless).
However, they may feel closer to one or another, and use the term “brother” or “sister” with a stronger personal meaning behind it.
While true, I recall it was noted to be a basically forgotton thing that next to NOBODY did anymore. And it was only the fact The main minister was a history buff the guy knew about it.
. . . and again, still counts
Though, also seriously, Divinity’s Reach needs a Patrick Jane . . .
We really do. He’s the best.
Different classes would have different strengths. If we put them together I figure they’d turn into CSI or some other cop drama.
Engineer: Lab rat (Greg Sanders, CSI?) Does everything from compare DNA samples to matching bullet striations
Thief: Undercover agent or an informant/information broker. Eats, breathes, and sleeps in the worst part of the city
Ranger: Dog tracker team. Also good at reading crime scenes to understand what happened leading to crime/death of victim
Mesmer: Lead interrogator
Necromancer: Mortician. The guy who rips open corpses for a living. May also talk to them. (Ducky, NCIS)
Elementalist: Crime-scene investigator or cleanup crew. Uses various abilities to collect evidence or clean up a crime scene after the fact
Warrior: Strategic Response Unit. The heavy-hitter of the group, he’s the first one in when there’s a dangerous criminal inside a building
Guardian: District Attorney. Fear them like Warhammer 40k fears the Inquisition.
S-Sort of… Your character mentions in the vocal dialogue just after the fight that they felt “called to defeat it,” which is what a Wyld Hunt is – a calling.
What I believe – and I have no evidence to support this – is that the Dream of Dreams placed that giant plant-based-dragon-thing in there for the Player-Character to fight, but the Nightmare got a hold of it before you arrived. Either way, you had to defeat it.
Don’t those shadow fiends force out the Charr’s spirit during the “possession” process? I could have sworn that’s what happened when I saw it, but that was nearly a year ago…
I saw a Charr with the Hellfire Warhelm skin with this. Sadly, no screenshot…. Looked like a demon train about to devour my soul.
What Would Your Character Have Said to Jory?
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath
Posted by: Keyce.8137
Human thief:
“Is anyone curious as to WHY she did all this? ANYONE?!”
Guardian:
“That was… rather preemptive of you and Braham, Marjory. An explanation would have been helpful, even if she lied to us. The people have questions, and we need to give them answers.”
Warrior:
“…I am so finally freaking tired of the crazy treeple and the green snakes and their Six-danged SPORES!”
Ranger:
“Well… that was no fun. SO WHO WANTS TO EXPLORE LION’S ARCH NOW THAT IT’S ALL OVER?! First to find a new secret passage gets their next meal on me! …Aaaaaand now I’m hungry. Buh. Time for a snack!”
To sum it up, I think Soundless are the human equivalent of atheists.
To each their own.
If Sylvari were Borg, Soundless would be 7 of 9 – intentionally cut themselves off from the collective.
“You and your pet gain Aegis when Swiftness is applied or refreshed.”
“You and your pet gain Aegis when Fury is applied or refreshed.”
“You and your pet gain Aegis when Regen is applied or refreshed.”
Pick one?
The above could probably be worded better to avoid having players think that both the ranger and the pet gain Aegis when only, say, the ranger gains the swiftness/fury/regen.
Though, with 15 into Nature magic the pet will get it anyways.
I can neither confirm nor deny that Scarlet was a Soundless Sylvari. I can, however, tell you that I have come across zero evidence supporting that hypothesis.
Soundless do not contribute to the Dream in any way, shape, or form, except second-hand if the memories of a Dreamer or Courtier involve them.
And I don’t think Anet would retcon their own recent lore by allowing Sylvari to be corrupted or influenced by Elder Dragons or their associated minions. We already know Zhaitan can’t turn them into Risen Sylvari; they just straight die rather than change into zombies.
Or, how about all the male characters turning into trahearne and all female characters scarlet? Too soon?
Do not give them ideas!
Just popped in to say I can see the Scarlet/Trahearne fanfics already.
So in short the Nightmare and Soundless are connected but the Soundless are looking for a way to sever the connection. Where as the Nightmare desire to be connected so they can do harm to the Dream.
The Nightmare are already connected, it’s just that there are only so many ways for one Sylvari to experience evil that eventually they can’t give any more to the Nightmare.
There is only so many times they can torture Sylvari before their personal experiences won’t affect the Dream, so they’ll have to rely on their victims’ pain and fear to keep the Nightmare growing.
The Soundless are a bit different. Think of their mind and their connection to the Dream as a raging river. One that, for them, is far too powerful for them to take without suffering for it. So they learn how to build a mental dam to block out the Dream and continue on with their lives in peace.
Granted, a Soundless’ mental dam is not something they can learn to erect once and then they never have to do it again; they have to spend some time out of every day meditating to keep the barriers from breaking.
[Spoilers] Trahearne & the Living Story: WTF?
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath
Posted by: Keyce.8137
I still can’t understand why nobody thinks through the difference between the living story and the personal story. The living story is at the same stage for everyone. The events have happened in the world. We all see the same results. The personal story is not at the same stage for everyone. Different characters see different things. If I create a new character tomorrow then that character can see Lion’s Arch in ruins but that character will not have met Trahearne and the personal story has not yet happened. This is precisely why Trahearne is never going to be in the living story.
Except that (timeline speaking), the Pact has already defeated Zhaitan. Else, Dragon Bash (LS update) wouldn’t have happened, because we’d be terrified and thinking dragons were unbeatable killing machines.
I was under the impression that only s/d thieves could steal boons. Also that’s a bad thing for anything that gives boons, so I don’t see how it would make this suggestion not as useful.
As far as the condition cleansing goes, you would more then likely use this once you know the person has blown their cooldowns. Then you do a full condi combo and would activate the signet for an extra kick.
S/D thieves are probably the only class that can boon steal aggressively. Mesmers have Arcane Thievery (or whatever the utility is called) that swaps a couple boons on a foe with a couple condis on you. It’s not as good as a thief, but our boon stripping makes up for that.
At the very least, Illusion of Life will allow party members in a dungeon (lets say Arah, against Lupi) to get back up and either try to burst him down in the about fifteen seconds they have on their feet, OR it allows them to run out of the boss room, fall back to the downed state, and revive themselves and each other.
Since Lupi won’t follow them out of his room, they are fairly safe from harm.
You’re not a ranger if…
-You haven’t gotten stunned and tried to activate Lightning Reflexes, only to see that it’s also affected by stuns, even though it is CLEARLY marked as a stunbreak.
