I am looking for the most up to date maps of Tyria. A few sites I have visited have maps pre-2015.

Take for example Wayfarer Foothills map, there were 2 changes;
-Renowned Heart: Assist Grimarr Molemasher was removed (located south west of map)
-Renowned Heart: Help Bjarni honor the Hare spirit was relocated near from the vista at the cliff to down the road

As mesmer main getting HoT is not much have. Core mesmer is still viable

I was fighting this thief who was using the following field combo;

SB skill 4, SB skill 5 = Stealth

Since I don’t main as thief is this another combo to stealth?

I join hotjoin yesterday and I could see the match going on that had one team an overall advantage over the other, seeing it was 3vs4 (2 medi guards and 2 thiefs) I did not take much noticed of it and join. I noticed the skill difference of this group (4) is quite high and stayed for the next 5 games for the challenge. But this turned out to be very frustrating as they keep stacking to one side and the lost was huge, think of the average loss was around 300points+

I consider myself an average pvper and always seek to set against quality players but wonder what these people were thinking?

Practice arena is meant to introduce people to pvp not to kill their motivation for it.

What say you? Do you condone this type of behaviour or not?

The ending CG was well done but also made me question, being sylvari main, where does my allegiance lie, Modremoth or The Pale Tree.

Will there now be Sylvari only guilds proclaiming allegiances?

Playing conquest maps becomes stale, I pick courtyard because its different and reminds me abit of GW1 HA spiking

Being the best depends on what aspect of GW2 you are playing: PVE, PVP or WvWvW.

I play all aspects playing with 8 professions , I can tell you what I consider best players in their chosen aspects

So everytime (I dont recall “may” as being occurring each time) I purchase gems I have to ask Anet to let my purchase go through. I buy gems not at regular intervals but when I do it’s $100US or more.

Anet, do you expect me to be happy with this type of response? No, it puts me off buying any gems from your company.

Since anet changed billing platform I have had ongoing issues with purchasing gems, 3 support tickets have been raised and yet the issue is still not fixed, if you, anet, cant fix this then it puts me off buying gems.

The error is “unfortunately an error has occurred please try again later”

Background: I am aiming to make a legendary and the mats for gift of magic and might are horrendously expensive.

I have been using my laurels to exchange for T6 mats then I read Karmic Converter can be exchange for T6 items, with 2million + Karma I thought getting this item was a good idea and somewhat good investment.

However after spending 800gold+ I find out that this item will only have 3 random items available to choose. This was frustrating experience and to me and is a waste of gold, whilst I understand RNG for loot items but introducing it on KC is getting beyond a joke.

This was very bad play Anet!!

Since the patch I have been tinkering condition centric based on iE. I have been using 2/4/2/0/4 and the last 2 points can be used anywhere but I feel to make this build complete is making Maim the Disillusioned apply on clone death.

I feel this elite is underused and compared to IP does less damage. This elite should be about the condition damage than the direct damage.

Also this will change the current PU meta.

Alright, so what you want to look for is exotic items. Don’t bother with rare or below most of the time.

There are now multiple ways of getting the gear you want and it depends on the stats you want to go for.

If you have been doing WvW the cheapest gear can be bought from the WvW-armor NPC. 80s-1g on average + some WvW tokens for a one piece of exotic gear.

You can also run some dungeons and buy your gear with dungeon tokens. This might probably take a few days if you have not done any yet. The dungeons sellers are in Lions arch on the far east. A row of coin-staples on the map. You’d have to run the flame citadel for berserker gear a few times for example.

If you have the crafting professions already leveled it is very cheap to craft yourself some armor and weapons. If you have yet to start any crafting professions it is going to be a little of a gold investment. 20g on average to get to level 400.
However you want to level those at some point anyway, since ascended gear can only be crafted.

Of course you can also buy your gear straight off the TP, which is what I did on my first character but I did not know better. I paid 15g for a full set where I could have gotten it for half the cost on those WvW-npcs.
15g is not much at all, but on your first character it matters I guess.

Then there is Karma and the karma-vendors. 42k karma each piece. I guess you most likely wont have enough karma on your first character though, I sure as hell did not.

Edit: Trinkets you’ll have to buy from the TP or craft btw.

You can actually buy trinkets (except backpiece) with Karma but they are only located in Orr

No-one has mention that exotic items can be bought with Karma but only in Orr has the Level 80 exotics from my understanding.

The type of gear will depend on your class and build.

Depends how familiar is your GF in playing Mesmer. The class takes sometime to get used to. I would not recommend the shatter build if shes VERY new to mesmer. Let her try PU mesmer, good survivability and decent damage. However she may get some heat from Spvp players but just tell them shes new at mesmer.

What I can see from HoM you have not completed Eternal Guardian of Tyria, complete this and you will get Legendary Guardian automatically and you will get 2 achievements point.

I just recently used this build but I am in two minds about Mental Torment (been using shatter builds) vs Halting Strike. The damage in halting strike is low compared to mental torment or am i wrong?

Currently servers that have high OCX (Aus/Kiwi) pop are SOS and JQ servers. I cannot speak for JQ but in SOS there’s is a few OCX guilds, pm me for info.

In 5 months GW2 will turn 2 years old and yet the game has not much change (disregarding the temporary content and the gear grind). In the 19 months release 5 permanent changes were made to the world; TA (dungeon) path, Teq hardmode, Wurm, EoTM and Fractals

Coming from GW1, new content started appearing once a year; Factions appearing a year after Prophecies (2005) Nightfall appearing same year as Factions and finally Eye of the North in 2007. Thats 3 expansion in 3 years.

What do we get in GW2? Nada. The GW2 world needs to be open more zones to explore to bring in new players and for existing players to get more excited about GW2 and not temporary content.

Anet when will you this?

No, you dont need to level 80 however you will not experience 2/3 of what GW2 is to offer. That is PVE and WvWvW.

As a person who did PVP heavily (think 12hours straight) I got burnt out so did abit of WvWvW and had rude awakening (think getting stomp continuosly by 20+ people)

After I leveled to 80, prerequisite for WvWvW if you dont want to be rallybot, when I see 20+ zerg I just laugh and lead them a merry dance, I come up from behind and attack the backline then run then do it again. This type of experience is incomparable to PVP

Since you are looking for classes that are good at sPVP (rank 47) and WvWvW (silver invader) from my experience, i play all professions on both, the best are;

1. Mes
2. Ele
3. Guard
4. War
5.Thief
6/7. Engi or Ne
8 Ranger

In regards to your question any servers fine, but if your not happy with the one you pick you do have options like;

1. Free transfer: You will need to delete you chars for these to occur
2. If the above is extreme then you have 2 “guest” passes each day. This allows you to temporarily join a server till you log off

Also as a new player to GW2 set some goals, preferably not legendary; whilst this is cool this is one goal that can bore you fast unless you like grinding.

There are other ways to level up in GW2, the below are some of the options;

-Crafting: The problems is mats as well as gold requirement
-Gathering: Good profit
-PVP: Use glory points to buy tome of knowledge which gives 1 level
-WvWvW: Look out for zerges in the map

One of my drops contain an exotic heavy head piece with traveller runes on it, being a mesmer the head piece is useless but the runes are not, so I buy upgrade extractor to remove the runes thinking I can resell the head piece, but lo and behold the head piece is now soulbound to me and cannot sell on TP.

Is the extractor supposed to work like this?

Before I log a ticket on this I want to know if people are having same problems.

The billing system recently changed, prior to this when paying via paypal a tab would open to the paypal login screen to complete gem purchase. The new billing system does not and now I am getting “payment authentication” error.

Are people getting the same issue?

Depends in your game style and preference;

PVE: Both classes are about the same in regards to DPS however the leveling perspective is harder for Mesmer from 0-40
PVP: Both classes are strong but Mesmer can take multiple foes and win but less so for rangers
WvWvW: Both are good roamers but Mesmer are more useful with veil, portal and timewarp in zerg fight
Dungeons: The Mesmer is more useful than ranger, portal and timewarp

The Mesmer is more flexible than Ranger.

GW1 elitism in GW2, I thought Anet wanted to avoid this?

Get acclimatized with your profession and the game mechanics there has been many changes to necro and the game in the past year.

Once done set up some goals, what do you like to do: Farming? Crafting? WvWvW? PvP?PVE? Exploring?

Soloing in GW1 is mostly about……running, wiping and the dreaded DP (Death Penalties)

If you cannot find a party then you can hench it and then its mostly about…WTF!!..henches dying, healer hench stops healing to perform a 4 sec res which leaves her open to enemy attack and dies…leads to…running, wiping and the dreaded DP (Death Penalties)

Expect this if you have just Factions, but if you get Nightfall/GW:EN (Eye of the North) expanstion then you get heroes, which you can control. Think of them as pets that you can customized.

Message ingame when you want to team, as I am available 17:00 EDST (Im from Melbourne) to 21:00EDST

Another option is join a reasonably high Guild which can team with you.

I dont know if people are feeling this but the new LS achievements every 2 weeks is not motivating me to complete it at all, its like your pigeon holed to grind these achievements for the next two weeks and not making you enjoy it.

Anet need to bring the enjoyment back to LS and to achieve this, is to dramatically reduce the LS achievements to one with rewards. I dont mind the achievement only gives one point. This will enable casuals, semi-casual and hardcores to complete and enjoy LS.

I was rank 96 a few months back but now am at 256 what has changed? What I found you are less enjoying the game when you are achievement hunting added to this you have limited time to get the LS achievements which is another pain. It feels we are being pigeon holed to grind.

Now I just do my daily laurels then I move on doing my normal stuff. In about another 3-6 months i will be around rank 700+ and frankly I dont care nor should you.

Inquest to equip nasty things to my cannon fodders

Unfortunately the block option is not available in wvwvw only report option. Anet should look into this.

In GW1, you were able to save skills and gear into template and then upload it to your toon on the fly, I found this very convenient.

With the many build out there, I play mesmer, will this be implemented in GW2? If not gear then how about trait template?

As yet Anet has not implemented any rewards for people who got their HOM points to 50. I understand some people will say that this was not compulsory however Anet has never indicated that there will be no rewards after 31 points added to this HOM points is maxed at 50, why is this so?

I feel the time spent grinding these points were wasted in GW1 which I am supposed to be rewarded in GW2.

Good question, DB has dropped 2 places in the past week, putting SOS my server in 6th place. The server does not have enough NA guild/population to tackle t1 servers and will be the whipping boys for the gold league. We will see in the next fortnight whether DB “miraculously” wins by 200k+ points.
