Ele skill “Ride The Lightning” (dagger #4) has been broken for approx 2 years, but now another Ele skill “Burning Retreat” (staff #4) has recently also become similarly bugged.
The animation for these skills is wildly out of sync with play position, causing weird server/client position snaps at the end of the skill, and for the skill effects not to be correctly applied.
The “snapping” is pretty gamebreaking. As you can see in the video, the explosion at the end of RtL hits no targets and results in the full 40sec CD for RtL, even when the player character is nestled amongst a dozen heavy golems.
This is pretty gamebreaking. It’s worth noting that both of these skills worked perfectly at release.
the 20% damage is overrated, it won’t increase your time to kill unless your mainhand is sword or you try to autoattack someone to death with the dagger, but since it’s a BS build it makes no sense
as soon as your oponent hits 50% all (at least me) need is 1 more backstab, with or without executioner
I’m not trying to rant or “promote” my build, i thought maybe he could find some usefull things within my build
if you want to run DD with DA use improvisation, more usefull than executioner

the melee in this game compared to range now is a joke. since the patch i notice it even more how many of my attacks dont trigger on my target / invalid path pops up.
in stronghold the center of that map is awful with the wood floor sitting lower then the supply spawn point. this is not a issue to ranged but for melee it is. that is just one instance of this. but ive been noticing it even more all around the game.
the community and the company both share fault. when both act like moody children nobody wins. a community is filled with people of all ages. companies are filled with adults that should understand how the world works and have exp in dealing with issues and situations. if they dont there is a management problem from the top to bottom.
when companies display emotions and feelings like a community they have failed. lots of college courses teach this sort of thing LOL

This whole Golem Rush week is the result of a company that doesn’t listen to their player base, but rather tells their player base what they want/need to enjoy the game.
I’ve got around 3.4k hours spent in game none of it was pve all of it was pvp. I leveled with crafting and get no joy killing pve mobs. I’d play wow if I did not gw2
Thieves are not in a good place right now. Asking for nerfs is insane. They have middle of the road burst with worse condi removal than most classes and basically die in one hit from anything.
Mesmers are for more OP than Thieves right now.
Getting hit with a steal/cloak and dagger hit to backstab of 16k total is a modest burst? What about the 2 auto attacks of up to 4k that come right after?
Having the ability to remove all conditions and heal to full health while your opponent cannot and has to sit in plain view is in a bad place?
So 20k damage in such a short time is modest. My ascended zerk Mesmer won’t do that damage. Close, but not that high.
Backstab can be used again in another 5 seconds after reveal is over. So another 5k cloak and dagger into another 9k backstab or they hit heart seeker repeatedly for the huge damage there.
You guys want your cake and eat it too. To do insane damage with as little risk as possible. It is a childish mentality. It isn’t right and unlike my build, a lot of the other professions cannot get away.
What I am starting to think is that the regular masses who play fairly do not know the forums exist, but the ones who play in a fashion where there is no fair play are the ones using the forums. Just to try to distract anet from the truth.
You talking about a d/d thief the risk reward in that build is the highest in the game. The ones that know how to play it at a high level are great video game players.
I’ve actually had fun finding a new build after 3 years. Glad I got scholar runes when they was cheap doe! Not a fan of the turn in to air vapor and run away cause I lost a fight. Those thieves are trying so hard its a joke
Stronghold was filled with them the center of that map was not fun to fight in. I also play thief so I pretty much find these all over the game it’s not fun to steal and be standing in the same place and have a cd burn.
Ok, so… what else am I supposed to do when my opening Backstab combo takes an opponent under 50% health? Sing him a lullaby?
I end up getting remarks like…
“Heartseeker me some more”
or
“CENSORED heartseeker spam”
Usually, those remarks are coming from the downed/dead position. I’ve usually got Quickness, so my Revealed may not even be gone yet. Do people even know how Heartseeker’s damage progression works?
Those players are try hards and salty… I enjoy spamming it on them the rest of the game especially when they in the downstate. Really those players need to ease up and not live 2 play gw2 it’s not healthy hahaha
Reading this thread was funnnny. Some people need to enable aero in gw2.exe compatibility tab “right click the .exe”. Espically the ones playing in windows mode.
But for reals Anet needs dx11. This game would be so much better
ive got a gtx 980 ti and i cant break 144fps to push my 144hz monitor in gw2. In bf4 i get 200+ fps and in counter strike i have to cap my fps i get so much. GW2 is pretty awful with optimization. Its just a bunch of textures layered on top of each other. Build your computer to play other games this one wont even make your gsync kick in half the time.
This is exactly how I feel when I watch Counter Strike or Smite. Or a lot of games. (Albeit without particle effects.) I dunno wtf is going on so I get bored and switch to GW2 on twitch.

this tone is repeated a few times in this thread and its a flat out lie. People like certain music genres over other types. Some people like country some like techno and they each know why they do. Gamers know what type of genre video games they like to play and most tend to stay with that type only. Companies know this “razer” and make mmo keyboards and fps keyboards. So dont act naive to genres, its fine if you dont like some of them.
Also ive been to every blizzcon but 1 “blizzards convention in anaheim” they have 3-4 stages with all the games they offer being played by pro teams with sponsors. You know what has the smallest stage/crowd? Its always been the MMO/Arena PvP!

My thoughts exactly! Anet is trying to make conquest esports! Possibly stronghold too! This will fail! In fact if you go by twitch viewers, it’s already failed! It’s hard to watch on twitch! It’s boring to watch on twitch! It’s a PvP game mode where the primary objective isn’t PvP! It just doesn’t work!

So far as I know, those eSport MOBA games have their chars which are walking Gw2NecroLichForm.
Adding, 2v2 and 3v3 arenas would be fine.
Focusing on TDM maps isn’t good as well.
It’ll only narrow viable builds for those modes.
Mostly, go full zerk or tank and go after marks.
Counter strike is never played that way in a competitive setting. Now watch my huttball video where I just score I don’t fight. I played swtor for objective only and would not fight people at all. It was troll and I never lost a game, was it a challenge not at all. Few games push a players skill. Right now cs go is that game and mmo’s will never be thought of that way. Gw2 community has to stop dreaming about Doritos sponsorships and a paid trip to towns I’d never want to visit. Do it for the troll in you!

People are listing such bad games in this thread. Anet needs to copy cs go it’s that simple. By the end of this year most of you that have not tried it will. That’s how polished it is.
They both came out around the same time on market. Cs go / valve understand how important the average player game experience is. Many bads plays cs and they know it and don’t care. Instead of watching a leaderboard to base there skill they look at there rank. They’re not competing vs people who do it for a living but them selfs.
I’d remove the leaderboards in gw2 for now they a novelty and won’t change the state of the game.

Because there aren’t enough people playing the game! Matchmaking will always be bad if there are no players queueing up! Anet needs to find a way to get more people to play! The first step is to introduce a new game mode! It’s been about 2 and a half years and there’s only one game mode! Conquest should be relegated to hotjoins and the esports aspect of the game should be arenas! You know the game mode where the focus of PvP is actually to PvP and not stand on points all game!
The game is confusing to watch! Anet is pumping out all these ridiculous prize money tournaments for the same team to win over and over again because there is absolutely zero competition in the competitive scene! There are zero upcoming teams who are able to even remotely challenge the top teams, of which there are like only two or three across multiple continents! And then when these tournaments happen, nobody knows what the heck is going on on Twitch.tv! Camera angles aren’t that great and there’s too many effects going on, especially when many people run lots of sustain builds so fights draw on for a long time! This is assuming people even hear about the tournaments! There is very little advertising going on at all!
And then balance patches come out twice per year! That is so bad! So bad! Anet takes so long to do anything! How long have the public been crying out for Skyhammer changes! Over a year! In CS:GO, players had a problem with a map called de_overpass! It was changed within TWO WEEKS! Anet please patch the darn game more often! It is very obvious Celestial Elementalists are too strong! When will they be nerfed! Oh well if you go by the 6 month patch period, we have to wait another 2-3 months! Woop dee freakin doo!

if any bug was with the economy it would be fixed asap. Why because that effects the real dollar income of this company. The bug thats listed in this thread is and will be here for awhile. It’s not high priority for the reason it does not effect the income “take food off the plate”.

I roam, but as a poor ranger who runs around in gear that I picked up from mobs in PvE, I avoid fights because I know that I will lose a 1v1 99.99% of the time (I’ve only won a 1v1 twice ever).
I roam because I want to contribute towards my server. I kill sentries, flip camps, escort dolyaks, refresh siege. Me dying would not contribute to my server, so if I see an enemy on the distant horizon, I run the other way.
If I wanted fights, I’d go PvP.
Nobody cares about points or who wins any more relax and l2p, casuals!!!!
Spvp is getting update dec 2 what is wvw getting? Has anything from any cdi from the last 5 months been added to the game? Anets focus is on 5v5 pvp? Logic wouldve been to focus on wvw where you have “had” a lot more players. Some bad management is in place and ego’s / awful priorities have held this game back.
It’s not limited to in-game, when I streamed/played gw2 people felt the right to tell me what build to play in twitch chat. It would be the same people all the time like they have a grudge on me cause I don’t play the same spec as them. This games community is small and pvp even smaller. The age of most pvpers is young and they live by set rules any chance they have true freedom is new and they blow it. Just look at the state of the game
All transformations are terribad. All are a weaken version of your char. You will never be as good as your char while transformed and if you are, you are playing wrong.

There are people on those lower servers who would not want a merger. People have a lot invested in those servers. We have servers we hate. The only people that want the servers merged are the ones who do not like getting the face punched in on a game. Their e-kitten pride is getting hurt. If you don’t like your server. Do what millions have done, MOVE.
There are actually people who don’t like to blob. Roaming and small havoc squads are a lifestyle. Yeah it sucks getting steamrolled at times, but even numbers, they are deadlier than you think.
Anet did not break the coverage wars. The players did. Let them dig their way out or suffer.
This is the type of player I’m talking about to inside the box. “We have servers we hate” when you get moved to another server maybe the one you hate. Guess what you can “hate” a new one. Check those feelings at the login screen this is a video game it’s basic.
I’ve been on pretty much all the servers with my old guild. We would transfer to destroy other guilds break other servers morals then join them. Shoot even JQ paid us to transfer for season 2. This game is nothing like that anymore it’s now full of salty one push heroes

“Server pride” and the “server communitie” players are slowing Anet down. Granted they’re still playing gw2 and buying gems. While I’m waiting till tonight to play a 10 year old mmo. Sometimes you have to push aside feelings and do what’s right.
Take the lowest pop servers and start closing them down. Transfer all those players to the server above or give them the option to go some place else. The Devs and the players each take a bullet. Anet deals with looking like they have a issue “which they do” and players have to form new communities “making new friends”.
League of Warcraft is more esport than gw2 and it’s a giant Zerg! Sure you can say there is no dodge and you might even say gw2 combat it better. But the passive abilities built in to gw2 out weighs all the bad combat in wow. Gw2 is just like a console game with built in aim assist, most the players don’t even know the game is aiming for them they think they got skill. Keep it frosty.
That’s one thing that always bothered me in this game. There’s really no distinguishing a good player from a great player. The skill ceiling is so low in this game, you have AI builds and a bunch of passive abilities that blur the lines between players. Sometimes you’re watching a game and thinking, “Wow that was a really good time to use fear!”, then you realize it was a passive proc and the necro just got lucky with rng.
Haha it’s so true great post. I doubt they tone down the passives and that’s a bummer. Or add a pause feature or fix the wonky camera angles in spectate. Even better is that skyhammer thread. By the looks of it people don’t like that map. But this company must like it. Haha
I wish you would see upper management handle this response and not a forum rep dealing with a mob. The rookie mistakes this company makes and then asks low tier employees to take the bullets, truly disgusting.

All that is left playing are zerg guilds that dont really have good fights. They might say they do but they’re full of one push hero’s who release and run back in time to keep the fight going and going.
Break up those 500+ member guilds and build smaller ones. #badcommunity
Now. For NA, i see no change in T1. I am unsure about other servers but the game is far from dead for me.
This player is biased, t1 is nothing what it use to be. Change is good and bad, the game has been out for awhile new things are being played. Most players are here only for the community “the new friends they’ve made” not the wvw.
The grumpy players of gw2, they play everyday and are negative.
They’re not mad at you but them selfs for still playing like its a 9-5 paying job.
Watch a spvp only streamer attempt wvw the first thing they say “I’m lagging”. If you can’t do both wvw and spvp you limit your self. What kind of person places limits in a virtual world.

I have an European keyboard, use WASD for movement and QE for turning the camera.
But I have difficulties to strafe around the enemy as I see other thieves do.
Maybe setting camera to AD would help?
Learn to play without keyboard turning. Forward, back, strafe left and right + mouse.
This is the answer to your question. The default a/d is set to turn aka keyboard turning for all mmo’s (casuals don’t like change). Now if you go into a fps game a/d move you left and right. Don’t need turn unless you rp
Honestly the only reason people still play the game is because the PvP is the antithesis of bad. Most the players who left the game left because of the lack of incentive to play. If you don’t like to play the game then leave.
What’s the scale for good and bad? There are lots of pvp games to each his own. Most people that still play this game enjoy the other players they’ve meet. Whole guilds from gw2 have moved to other games and back. They have these things called gaming communities it’s so rad!
