That wasn’t bubbles. It was a swamp. Note the butterfly. lol So it’s Mordremoth… probably.

Hey. I’ve been having the same issues as you, though not so extreme with the 99% cpu usage.
As of 2-3 days ago my framerate dropped from average 50-60 to 25-30. And loading times are ridiculously long now. I don’t know what happened, since I never touched my settings nor messed outside the game with my graphics. I just… happened.
Edit: grammar
Well… in gw1 they could do it properly…

How do we really play Escape from LA?
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

Anyway the way to play this update: 1. farm achievements 2. farm bags if you want 3. you don’t need perfect organisation, you can just have a tag at each place and most people will stick with that tag.
I might be wrong here, but I thought zergs should be avoided at all costs during this patch? at least that’s what everyone seems to be screaming all the time.

Serious question. I am lost to the idea that we are meant to organize multiple events across the map. Even if we did prepare commanders, squads, groups, people who wander to save citizens and clear paths, the overflows just kittens us up.
I am all for listening to commanders and doing what needs to be done to get a truly good group effort completion, but most people (and some commanders even) just automatically go into zerg mentality.
Unless I get into my main server map and on team speak, I don’t think I really have a chance to hit that 1,500 counter….
(GW1 was a good mix of the literary and a traditional narrative, they took a lot more care with the writing – although this tends to be due to the fact that traditional quests do allow you to deliver more story – and the player (as well as the accompanying NPC’s) was an integral part of all of the narrative arcs.)
I agree. with gw2 came the removal of the walls of text which is where most of our lore came from in gw1. Anet thought it a waste of time to put in good character and story writing if no one could be bothered to read. After all, you want to progress in the game not read an e-book.
I will be honest and say that, no I didn’t read most of the text in gw1 because of two reasons. 1) I was more progress focused, as I said before and 2) the lore just wasn’t of interest to me until the later years of the game when I stopped to take the time to read. I realise now how much I actually missed. Thinking of all the quests I did and not truly knowing why.
So yes, I think anet CAN write excellent stories and lore, but somewhere between what they thought would be a better approach and what the community wants, we get what we currently have; a yearning for more.
I don’t understand. Are you really complaining about that?
Timebandit the dialogue in the final Nightfall mission makes it clear that Abaddon’s will was completely broken – as in whilst she absorbed his power she did not absorb any other part of him.
Abaddon is dead. Like, completely eradicated from the universe.
But it could still be Dhuum. When you “defeat” him in GW1 he doesn’t actually die. He just sits there and mopes a bit.

I’m sure you hit the nail on the head here and there. But there are some things unanswered. I’ll throw a random one out there… Scarlet’s red thorn vine.
Where did it come from? She didn’t have the creeping vines before she entered Omadd’s machine. In What Scarlet Saw she observed the Pale Tree and saw a red vine snaking around the pale tree and squeezing the life out of it. Then, she WAS the vine itself.
Now that can mean a few things, but to me that screams mind control. Whatever peered back at her and is speaking in her head perhaps unlocked a part of her mind (DNA?) that perhaps all sylvari’s have…
What shall be done about this?
Not really… The LA you knew in GW1 has already been destroyed. Only a few remnants remain, but other than that it is barely recognizable. LA has withstood many attacks, starting in GW1. It will rebuild as always.
Does anyone know (or have a collection) of the mails sent by Mr. E? I remember reading them, but I’d like to go over them again… Not sure where to look though.
Pretty much what all the other people said. But my biggest one, is that professions in gw2 don’t feel engaging at all. I played ranger in gw1 for a full 2 years before I decided to dabble in another profession.
In gw2 I’ve made all 7 professions, and I’m tired of playing 5 of them already. :/
I’ve only had ONE giant eye drop since release. I don’t even know how I got it.
The problem with capes is that they cover so much. Everyone just becomes a walking guild advertisement….
Yes, it does. And we loved it that way in GW1. Capes became a trademark for guilds. Something to be recognized by. A unique cape design comes a long way in terms of recognition and influence.
Added one of my own screenshots for nostalgia’s sake.

I’m sure a lot of people have noticed it by now, that after the update (at least for me) my skills tend not to work at all. I can still walk, chat and don’t seem to be lagging. But can’t use any skills whatsoever.
Does anyone know the best solution for this?
For some reason I also think it’s Abbadon… But I have absolutely no clues to go with. It’s just a gut feeling.
The no-downed rule actually does make sense…
How does it make sense? Yes, I understand that they don’t want people laying dead in a corner and in that way get their achievements. But downed does not equal dead. If I’m downed I’m still in the fight and should still get a fair go.
If you’re on a low pop server, try guesting to a higher pop server.
I don’t know what counts as high population servers anymore. When I guest, they’re all “Very high”.
Yes, you are not allowed to go into downed state. Otherwise you lose the ach.
I find this completely ridiculous. First your lane must not fail, then you can’t go down. Very poorly explained achievements.
I agree.
1. It would also help to have a better UI for overflows. I’m thinking something like the district system in gw1; a list with named/numbered overflows. This certainly would stop the confusion ("Where the heck am I now? Am I with my friends/guild/server?).
2. It will allow for better organization rather than frantically hop servers and overflows 10 minutes before it starts.
Ohhhh! No downed… Ok, that explains a lot.
All I want is something similar to the Hall of Monuments as in gw1…
y die?!
uh… but yeah. I think this is the first living story where I’ve seen some of the most hideous behaviour of some people.
And on the other hand you have achievements where people seem to think that they are forced to “google” or use the mapchat. Why don’t you complain about that?
We do.
I wouldn’t mind. But something tells me you can forget this ever happening.
I am still waiting on my air guitar/violin/drums
Me too. I feel Anet is too caught up with the living story every couple of weeks, but they’re forgetting the basics of the game.
Trahearne is the only voice actor that puts me to sleep. Maybe it’s a sylvari thing, but it wouldn’t hurt to put some more emotion in his acting.
It probably is a sylvari thing though.
Funny thing is all the old emotes are still in the game engine. You can try /flex and the others like it and the game registers the input as a valid emote but nothing happens. Which means they need to create the animations for the races.
Maybe in time it will happen, who knows.
I know. It just feels like they’ve forgotten about it. And it’s a very basic thing in most mmo’s. I think. Not that I’ve played that many.
As the title says. It just feels like a bare mmo without a whole range of emotes to choose from. Living story is great and all, but more emotes while we wait for hours in overflows to pass the time is nice too.
Please no. My FPS is already lower than whale kitten. It can’t handle any more!
Find another guild and enjoy the game.
I just don’t like the Living Story. I don’t want to be forced to play content because it will be soon gone or the new events/zones dead. I’d rather have an expansion which I can play at my own pace.
Word.
Organising something in this game is terrible. Every time it’s a struggle for me and my friends to enjoy big events, since there’s always someone who has to spam “Join in blablabla”, or misses out completely. I know there is no easy solution. One map cannot possible support a whole server and guests (imagine the lag). I’m afraid anet painted themselves into a corner with this.
Funny I’m reading this post now, as today I was inwardly muttering that the most I see of this game is the ground… The thing is, I can’t place my finger on whether it’s me being weird, or if the camera angles are off, considering I don’t have this problem in other games.
But I’m aware Anet has a tendency to put clues, objects and beautiful scenery higher than I usually look, so I stop once in a while and scan my surroundings.
Anet needs better armour desigeners, period. OR get some inspiration from some other games. Where are the designers from the previous game?
Maybe they should take one living story team and turn it into a fashion team.
I currently like the daily and monthly achievement system. Most I get done quiet easily, and some I have to push for when it’s nearing the end of the month/day. It gives a nice balance imo.
Now, living story achievements….. THAT is what I would like to pick their brains on.
Dodging isn’t the problem for me either. It’s staying connected long enough to finish the event. Considering how many people I found in overflow reporting the same issue, I’d say the achievements need to take into account both loading screen times and the fact that the servers aren’t stable. And no, it’s not just me and my ISP. Check the bug forums. Connection issues have only been getting worse.
They either need to fix their servers or stop making achievements and boss fights that can be failed simply because the instance takes too long to load or you dc.
I agree! I could’ve gotten two achievements, but it took me 30+ seconds to load onto the platform during which time the marionette hits me, I’m assuming. I dodged everything nicely after I loaded, but didn’t get anything.
So I know everyone is complaining about the achievements being dependent on other people. I totally agree with that, but after I managed to get one dodging achievement I at least thought it was doable…
…until I realized that every single time I enter the portal it takes me a full 30+ seconds to load onto the platforms during which time I get hit by the marionette. I don’t want to depend on luck either to get my ach.
There’s probably no way to fix my loading times, but these achievements seem out of reach for me with my low end pc.
I love all your suggestions. +1 I hope anet reads this
Removing glory? Wait, what?
Glory will be removed from the game…it’s already been announced.
Ohhh snap. I’m going to spend all of it on wintersday gifts now. xD
Removing glory? Wait, what?
I agree. A darker nighttime would be really nice. They could make nice effects by turning on torches, or us players getting our torches out. (just randomly throwing an idea out there, not saying it is a good one, since not all professions can wield one)
As the title says. I think each race should have free travel (or perhaps discounted?) to their home city. I don’t know why anet is focusing so much on LA, while the racial cities get ignored. You’d figure in the human city you would see lots of humans, in the charr city lots of charr, etc. It would give the city, an actual thriving CITY feeling.
I’m hoping for a bit of balancing both for zerkers and PvE content.
I have a friend who pretty much makes all his characters with zerker stats, and does oodles of damage all the time. Playing with him makes all my characters pretty much useless since he one hit kills almost everything. Sometimes I don’t get my loot/ach/heart done because he just roflstomps over everything. Of course I let him know that he needs to back off a bit, but that’s just my point.
He has no reason to change because it’s so effective, and for me it’s no fun at all.
+1 to the whole Kasmeer angle. But we will see.
unrelated to topic Zid zabre……. Hmmmmm! You’re name is familiar.
That very first screenshot example is one I wouldn’t mind having.
