short answer:

tell your friend that the game is challenging

longer answer:
if you and your friend played other mmos such as WoW, Tera or such, you may notice that GW2 is sightly harder.
in other MMOs, your party wipes if you do something horribly wrong (aka the tank or the healer fails hard, or someone just pulls too many mobs), but in GW2, you have to pay more attention and you are on your own. this does not mean that you can’t play as a team, but if you do, notice that there are no healers or tanks at all.
tell him that if he wants something more difficult than “just another mmo” he should try this.

Tired of minigames.

folks, don’t expect too much. things may sound awesome until you see what it is like.

there were good things. liked the haloween instance for example. liked the karka event, and the molten alliance dungeon. Also the aetherblades instance. also the crystal jumping stuff during the bazaar was nice (to me). did not like the jumping puzzle-doing, and the “kill 500 xy” achievements. did not like the meta achievement rewards, and yeah, did not like most minigames so far.

but free content is free, i don’t expect them to come up with “real” new zones to explore. i rather expect more RNG, more “daily” grind (ressource nodes), and other stuff that may try to “keep us log in every day”. in the end, they want our money. So we have to log in so that we can see the “important new items in the store”, and maybe buy.

in the end, they can not expand the game so fast that we have a reason to log in every day to explore new content. most people dont need this anyway. decent ways to farm, reachable goals and fun with guilds and friends (and enemies in WvW) is probably what most people want.

hmh,
stupid to farm there, really.

there are many ways to get enough money in this game. do a few dungeon runs, for example CoF, or Fractals. Or go WvW, really.

and to you, dear OP, just do the event. gates of arah is a nice and rewarding event. many loot bags, bonus chest and chest. and the dungeon is open again.

back items, and more back items

while i like the idea of having an election, and that your vote may change how the living story develops, i am not really satisfied by the rewards…

so now every living story arc comes up with new funky back items. flowers, wings, catchers, now a giant backpack and a flower again. -yawn-

see, back items are nice, there are some cool ones, but… if you do backpacks, what about capes? or something that looks like it is really part of your armor?

Also, shoulderpieces and gloves, nice, but then again you can not combine those well with other armors. i have, for example, the asura T3 armor that does not show shoulderpieces at all, other armors may have the same problem.

what i would like to see as rewards:
- weapons, more weapons
- and armors, really! And please no cash shop armors!
- something you can unlock for your home instance. a step towards housing, for example. more gathering nodes would be nice, or traders.
- town clothing and toys.

Fortune scrap farm.....

in Bazaar of the Four Winds

Myramar.8657

heya,

i farmed enough scraps to buy 2 helmets and 2 skins (the green ones).

so this is how i did it:

- doing events: there are some events that occur every few minutes. one of those is the Harpy Event near the intrance into Ascalonian Catacombs dungeon. This event starts every 5 minutes and scales really good if there are more than 2 players. Here you can get about 1-3 Kite Fortunes per event if you use high Magic Find.

- doing WvW: zerg with the zerg, what can be fun, and open the loot bags, there are kite fortunes in it.

- buy: you can also buy the loot bags in the marketplace. the kite fortunes drop from all of them (tiny up to heavy), so you can buy the cheapest ones.

buy your Zephir Helmet (and please WvWers)

in Bazaar of the Four Winds

Myramar.8657

nope. just an idea for those who want a helmet, i open the bags for myself because i need the t6 mats. farmed enough scraps to buy one, and now bought the bags for another one. thats all

buy your Zephir Helmet (and please WvWers)

in Bazaar of the Four Winds

Myramar.8657

kite fortunes drop from Heavy Loot bags, got around 1 out of 5 bags (probably i was lucky), bags cost around 6s in the Marketplace, so i just bought a stack and this was just enough to get my helmet (around 200 scraps, one lucky 50 scraps from one kite fortune, and 50 i had left in my bank).
so if you have the gold, this is cheaper than buy gems or mats i think.

Temp or permanent content?

in Living World

Posted by: Myramar.8657

Myramar.8657

i think living story should be temporary and it should lead to new, permanent content.

expample:
bazar of the four winds (temporary), leads to elections (temporary), leads to new councilor (permanent), and may lead to a new zone, Crystal Desert, what should be a permanent zone but may contain temporary content in the beginning, such as living story events, and then become permanent similar to southsun cove.

Kite Fortune

in Bazaar of the Four Winds

Myramar.8657

i now have 120 fortune scraps. i farmed some events in low level areas (because i felt the drop chance for kites in Orr is not as good as it is in other zones). mostly farmed the Harpy event near the entrance of AC, because it starts every 5 minutes, and if there are many people, every wave contains 5-10 mobs. I get 1-4 kites/event, so thats pretty fine.

i think i will get my helmet during the weekend, event without farming all the time. Sometimes the mobs drop even 2 kites/wooden chest.

These stories are not fantasy at all

in Bazaar of the Four Winds

“Fantasy” is a huuuge and broad term of what is it and what could it be.

it can be about some epic heroes, or about a boy who becomes a wizard, or about political intrigues, about love or deep hate, about traders, fighters, cowards, idiots, heroes, mages… just about everything you know from real life + magical or otherwise interesting world and environments.

So what is wrong with an election or a trade agreement?

How, where to get started with living story

Myramar.8657

hi there. just wait for todays update and join then. Its the Bazar of four Winds patch, so there will be a new zone you can access from Lions Arch. Then open your Achievement panel and look what there is to do and what rewards you can get. Do the missions, and explore the small new zone.

there are also Herald NpCs in all cities, you can ask them whats going on and they tell you. and a notification system that comes via ingame mail.

Why can't living stories stay in the game? D:

Myramar.8657

i think it is fine if minigames and also some special dungeons are temporary. permanent minigames are dead after a few weeks (see Keg Brawl for example). Dungeons do now provide really “epic” rewards that are unique after the event is gone (the Monocle, or the Molten Alliance Backpack thing). This is actually what some people really want. Price for Monocle will go up and up after the event is gone. Nice for everyone who got one or bought one now while those are “cheap”.

fine with the consortium. Also i have to admit that the inquest is involved in this Aetherblade stuff, and the dredge/flamelegion was in the Molten alliance. But it was not really obvious. What i see is the following scenario

Dev1: i have an awesome idea! I have some concepts for Molten Alliance. They are some sort of Dredge/Flamelegion mutants.
Dev2: awesome! now lets create some lore around this.

Dev1: i have another wonderful idea. Pirates on Airships! In Steampunk outfits!
Dev2: Brilliant! Again, lets create some lore about this. I have actually some scripts for CSI LionsArch around here, lets just combine it.

Dev1: Materials Market is crashing. We should give the players an opportunity to throw away all the mats so the prices will go up again!
Dev2: Hmh, fine. Lets just create a giant Marketplace. Airships again!

well…………..

heya,

i really like the living story as it is now. Free content updates, new items, also fine with how it is done (missions, dungeons, scavenger hunt…), but there is something that i find confusing and not so well done.

since living story started, you came up with new factions all the time. First the consortium, then the molten alliance, the sky pirates and now the zephirists(?).

There are so many existing factions and also NPCs in this game. I would like to see the existing conflicts and stories envolve instead of having to deal with new enemies (and friends) all the time.
Living story should be about the story of the world. There actually is one. There is the nightmare court, the inquest, the centaurs, the white mantle, the flame legion, the separatists and many minor forces and factions (skritt, quaggan, ogres, grawl…).

What i would like to see is that those conflicts and factions are brougth into living story. Some ideas

- the white mantle is operating again in DR and Kryta. Starts with “find hidden White mantle Leaders, bash them and get some intel.” and ends with “go into the White mantle dungeon and slay the last remaining Mursaat Endboss”

- The quaggan tribes are meeting in southsun cove to celebrate (insert OOooobvious Name here) festival. There are minigames, events and stuff. Also they want foooOooood from all over tyria, so bring them ingredients and get some rewards.

see, i like new factions, but what is wrong with the existing ones? understand the consortium, but the molten alliance and also the sky pirates came out of nowhere. Also did Eirs Son Braham.

What comes next? Logan Thackerays Mother battles the Cult of red Apples?

hey there.

i would say ther eis a difference between “it is not explained at all” and “it is an open ending/left unrevaled”.
If i read a book, for example, and in the last 40 pages, new characters are brought in as important ones related to the known, with no explanation, i am confused and i may think the book isn’t good. Same when there are some logic-failures (for example when a character is introduced to you as a new one but you had already contact to him in early missions) or simply unexplained parts, or when the whole thing feels “layered” (for example when characters that were important at the beginning do not re-appear later on).
See, the GW2 personal storyline has made those mistakes. If you play a sylvari, you may have met Trahearne early on, but when you meet him in Lions Arch, he does not remember you. Important characters, such as friends, relatives or important people you meet during the storyline do just disappear when a new chapter starts.

but then, the GW2 world storyline is sometimes absolutely brilliant. For example the mysterious Orr. When you wander around the ruins of Orr, you may get a really good impression of how this area may have looked like back int he good old times when the gods wandered around the mere mortals, before they left. The temples and events around there are related to this, and also to the Dragon threat, there is not that much lore needed to explain this, all the little things sum up to a greater impression, and this is really nice.

for that flame and frost living story arc, i have some very specific ideas or points of criticism:

1. introduction of the new important characters, Rox and Braham: They just appeared out of nowhere, but there was enough time to introduce them better. Fine, Eir has a son, and their relationship seems to be complicated, but some things could be explained, for example why he left. Fine with the introduction of Rox here, because this fits to the charr, there are many Gladiums around, and all of them have a story and this is absolutely fine.

2. refugees: Here i think this whole situation could have been done better, for example with additional events. So we had lost items to find, and refugees walking down the roads, fine with this. But what about additional events to make the situation more clear? Ideas:
- Escort events: Escort refugees down the road as an event. Escort some brave norn or charr fighters to the dangerous locations where they die or retreat again.
- smaller events cycling around single refugee characters down the road: For example a child tries to run away from a small refugee camp from time to time because it does not want to leave and so it hides somewhere and you have to find it and protect it. A disease spreads out in a small refugee camp and you have to gather herbs or escort a doctor to heal the refugees. Sons of Svanir / Ascalonian ghosts attack refugee groups down the road, protect them. There are many ideas for more and interesting events than simple add an achievement for helping the refugees by lure mobs to them, let them die and revive them
with this events, the whole situation could have been explained better.

after this, i am fine with the missions around cragstead and the hatchery. This was quite good i think.

heya.

i really like the idea of living story, and what i have seen during the lost shores, it is a really good way to expand tyria and show off the changes in the world (the lost shores island rise from the deep sea because zhaitan is defeated, for example…), and during my explorations i often reached locations where clearly is a blocked path to another area (crystal desert, northern shiverpeaks, dominion of winds and some areas in the maguuma areas…).

This Flame and Frost living story was a disappointment. Not only there is almost no link to Tyrias overall Story (Dragons), but a mysterious alliance between dredge and flame legion (why?) and a not-so-exciting plot (uh oh there are new enemies, they are all over the place, they kidnap innocent npcs to test weapons? And again Rox and Braham are getting all the attention while players are more or less nameless supporters).
Things i wanted to see / know: what does the molten alliance want? What are the greater goals? Do they want to create a new army to help one of the dragons devour the world? Why do they need villagers to test their weapons? (they could have used animals, or mechanical dummies?) We know the dredge hold a greater area in the shiverpeaks, do they have a leader there commanding such things? Why didnt we kill him, but those two transformers instead?
Does this end now or will that story arch continue in furhter living story arcs? Some of the refugees are going to southsun cove, does this mean they may build structures there, and add content to that island (hearts, skillpoints? Events?). Are they now just gone as we raid the molten facility?

see, i think you can do this better. A lot better. I remember the “living story” back in GW1, where you had to help the queen, that “viral marketing campain” for GW2 was awesome, including new challenges, bosses and missions that changed some areas forever, at least filled the areas with new, stronger enemies.

ideas for further living stories:
- make areas accessible, give us a new zone: let us together with the vigil, order and priory conquer a zone, hold front lines and build up structures. bring up new npcs who will stay there, give us tasks, events and skillpoints, jumping puzzles and things to explore.
- interesting plots full of traitors, dragons corruption, death and glory. Make players risk something, loose something and end as heroes again, if you wish.
- no temporary content please. the molten facility for example could have a temporary story mode, but then an explorable mode with new enemies that stays.
- add also armor and not only weapons if you add new content (and please not only ugly gloves…)

i really see the potentials of the living story idea. now just do it better.

VPN, connecting and region questions

hey there,

this question may be difficult to answer, but maybe someone has actually tried something similar and can help me out here.

Situation: i live together with my husband, he is a journalist and because of this, our internal network, our private workspace, our server and PCs have to be as safe as it gets. We are currently thinking of tunneling our private network entirely trough a VPN. This could mean that my IP-Address would change frequently and would come from a distant country (probably Korea, China or something around there), while i live in europe.
I know that this may lead to a higher ping, ofc. And i would have to click on a thousand of authentication e-mails.

What i want to know:
- is there any region of the world banned (excluded) from being able to connect to any GW2 server?
- is there any way to make things more simple for me here?
- do i have to connect to US servers then?

See, i would give up GW2 for supporting his work. But it would be nice if i could still play. Maybe we can find another solution than a VPN anyways.
Lets see.

- hidden stuff: really love how there are things hidden in the world. there are jumping puzzles and hidden chests, but also tons of dialogues and npcs who may tell you something interesting. For example in the pirate cave in lions arch, you can speak to one of the pirate leaders, and if you are an order of whispers agent, you get an additional dialogue option that makes that npc tell you about the hidden pirate jumping puzzle in LA.

- free content updates: the karka one-time event was awesome, also the whole festive content (haloween, winters day), and the now added super adventure box. Lets see what Flame and Frost: Retrebution will bring us. Also they added fractals, a lot of new weapons and stuff.

Do pve daily if possible in combination with farming some chests (dragon chests, low level world boss chests, orrian temple events).
My guild is very active, too. There are people running fractals or dungeons every day, so i join a group and do something.
I have only 2 level 80 chars, so i am currently leveling up my thief (lvl 40), my guardian (level 22) and my mesmer (lvl 30). The only character that is equipped perfectly is my main. So my second level 80 character needs an armor that looks the way i want it to (its a female charr ranger, i really like the inquest dungeon armor here, so i try to get enough knowledge crystal tokens).
I have so many goals i want to achieve currently… some of them are really far away:
- bring 3 chars up to level 80
- get about 1000 knowledge crystals from the inquest dungeon
- get additional 390 shards of zhaitan tokens
- get 4 stacks of fractal relics and also some condensed mist essence (finally have my rings, so now i need the back item.)
- get an additional amout of 250 WvW tokens (need 500 and i want to get them only by killing players)
- get enough gold to buy the T2 Sylvari Armor Set for my mes
- get enough gold to buy the T3 Human Armor Set for my thief
- get enough gold to buy the T3 Norn Armor Set for my guardian
- get additional 100 ectos and obsi shards
- finally get the precursor to craft the Bifrost
- get another 50 unidentified dyes

- complete my dungeon master title (have only story from AC, CM and Arah.) with my guild.

In my opinion, Magic find needs to go

i am actually using a full MF set for farming. Yes, i farm mobs in cursed shore along with hundreds of others. I use it, but this does not mean that i like it.

see, what bothers me is the following

- killing standard mobs is more rewarding than killing a difficult boss or completing an event or dungeon.
- opening chests is boring (this is a different topic, indeed) because chests do mostly only contain junk.
- magic find helps, but grind is still grind. I have nothing against rare or ultra rare items in MMOs, believe me, but i don’t like it to “need” 250 of those just to craft an exotic item. See, the lodestone droprate would be absolutely fine if you would need 10 or 20 to craft an item, but as it is for now, i just see that you may not be able to get all those without having thousands of gold ( or, what seems to be intended, buy gems for cash to get thousands of gold)
- people are currently “abusing” events just to farm.
- magic find does only work with drops from kills, not chests.

See, my opinion is maybe outdated, but i think that it should be rewarding to do something challenging or big, like killing the priest of balthazar or completing a dungeon. I really miss the excitement before opening a chest, and Magic Find makes things worse here, because drops are now even better for just killing mobs. Magic find does reward stupid farming instead of well playing. And this is why i have a problem with it. besides of fractals, there is currently nothing that is as rewarding as stupid farming. And this is not fun.

In my opinion, Magic find needs to go

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Myramar.8657

Myramar.8657

i don’t like it neither…

see, it bothers me that opening chests is less rewarding than stupidly farming mobs during events, because of magic find, my drops are a lot better if i just kill something. this is not how it should work. This goes very far: the grenth temple event in orr is just one example. There are many ice elementals during the event, along with a lot of mobs. Now this means for many people that it is actually better if the event fails again and again (because it restarts almost instantly), so that people can farm the mobs, especially the ice elementals, because those drop corrupted lodestones from time to time. I don’t like it to be flamed just because i am actually doing the event (means killing the shades and the priest…) as soon as the event suceeds.

i think it should be removed, and instead, general drop chances should be increased (especially for lodestones). Also, blue and green items should be removed from the chest loot tables for level 80 players (instead, i would like to see crafting mats and more rare and exotic items). Opening a chest should feel rewarding, because mostly you did something to get that chest anyway (dungeon boss, jumping puzzle, hidden spot, event boss…).

farming mobs should not be rewarded, neither should it be a good thing to immitate farmbots (did you ever farm air elementals near the entrance of Arah???), or hinder your party by equipping MF gear instead of something useful.

first, gz to your awesome char!

no one can tell you what you should do now. we do all have different motivations for playing a game. see, i do ascalonian catacombs every day. And i don’t need anything from there, i just do it because my guild does it, and we are good friends and this is a lot of fun.

you could play a new char
or forge a new guild, organize it and do some community events or something like that
you could learn more crafting professions, or hunt for titles and achievements

you could stop playing for a few weeks, and join again if there is more content (such as new zones, dungeons, like the karka thing)

or try something you usually don’t like and try to master it. such as jumping puzzles, pvp or something like that.

What i would like to know is

- does it affect the chance for getting rare materials from item-salvage? (such as orichalcum instead of mithril, ectoplasm, ancient wood log?)
- does it affect the mystic forge? (such as a higher chance for getting something rare out of 4 greenies?)
- does it affect gathering? (getting emeralds from mining, dyes from harvesting?)

What should be fixed next? Player's priority list!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Myramar.8657

hello all,

I think in general, ArenaNet decides what should be fixed/implemented next into the game, and that is fine. They may have their schedules and priorities, of course. But lets tell them what WE, the players, find the most important things. They said they created this game for us, so our opinion could be still important.

and here comes my list:

things that should be fixed:
1. the BOT problem. especially the teleport bots, and other hacks and exploits (perma speed, stealth and so far..). See, this does not only break the immersion, but ruins the game for many players, myself included, because in some areas, you can not get a kill, or do an event. It may also ruin the market, cause inflation. Also this goes hand in hand with account protection, because most bots are probably hacked accounts.
2. The Temple Events in Orr. On many servers, they do not work properly, especially the Temple of Balthazar event.
3. Grouping issues within squads. often, if you are part of a Squad, you can not invite people to your group. This may be a bug.
4. Bugs in dungeons. Horrbile experience if you have to leave a dungeon half-way trough because of a bug.

things that should be implemented:
1. PREVIEW options in the auction house. Please let us preview items in the AH, i want to know what skin i buy.
2. Ranger Pet Names should not disappear if you change the pet.
3. Server Changing should be free every week, but not every 24hours now.

Why this game feels unrewarding to me

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Myramar.8657

Myramar.8657

hello there.

First, don’t get me wrong. I think GW2 was totally worth my money, i play it a lot and it is FUN, in general.

What is quite disappointing to some extent are the rewards. See, i like the Token-System in general, but this can not quite satisfy me. See, i was a GW1 player for about 6 years, right from the start. GW1 was all based on skins, since max level was 20 and max-stat gear was really easy to get. Once it was about getting the skins you wanted, it was both: luck AND checklist work. Now in GW2, it is ONLY checklist.
What i miss is the “random” rare stuff. In GW1, there were some chests in dungeons, zones or PvP that could contain something really awesome and rare if you are lucky. There was a wide variety of desired rare drops (for example some weapons you can only get from some certain dungeon chests, or miniatures you can get from some reward-bags or chests, not to mention the everlasting tonics..).

I miss the excitement before you open a chest, because mostly the chests are full of crap loot, and you may know in advance that there is nothing in those chest you really want to have (or want to sell).

Then, i have another problem. Mostly, the “work” you have to do to get to one of the chests is hard. If i tried a jumping puzzle and fail for 1hour, and then finally get to the chest, i don’t want to get 2 blue items and 1 green worthless mark of the soldier. Ok, i could live with this, if i would know that there can be something in those chests worth the effort, if you are lucky. Such as the chance that a minipet may drop, or a rare dye, or at least some crafting materials?

Ok now you may tell me that for all the random lucky loot, we have the mystic forge. Yes, and i like the mystic forge, but there many things are, again, checklist work. And the mystic forge is expensive. You need a lot of items, and then more items, or money to buy the items. Means you have to farm events, play the auction house, basically imitate the bots farming the event locations…

Now let me ask: What if…?

- What if the chests at the end of huge Event-Chains would have the chance to give you an Event-Related item as reward: The Tequatl chest could reward lucky players with a miniature Tequatl. The shadow Behemoth with a miniature shadow-behemoth… The temple events in Orr could give you everlasting tonics (for example an everlasting shade tonic from the grenth-temple). Just fluff and vanity stuff, nothing you need.

- what if the dungeon chests could reward you with one of those dungeon-weapon pieces? yellow ones in story mode, exotics in explorable? Yes, you would still get tokens, and yes, you may still use the tokens to buy the stuff you want, and yes, the items would still be account-bound (or soulbound), but at least you can be lucky, or just throw the weapons in the mystic forge.

- what every jumping puzzle chest could reward you with a certain silly Hat (town clothing), if you are lucky?

There has to be something in those Chests...

heya everybody!

I am an experienced GW1 player, and this is what i miss the most in GW2:

rewarding chests!

Ok, let me explain this a bit more. GW1 was all based on skins, since max level was 20, and max equip was easy to get. Now there were a lot of “rare” skins, but also a lot of other cosmetical rewards, such as miniatures, eternal tonics and other, tradeable rarities.
Now, if i do a dungeon, or a big event chain with a reward chest, the whole experience feels boring and unrewarding. The chests do mostly contain junk (blue items, or those Crests and Marks whorth nothing), and if i do a dungeon, i know what my reward will be. See, i am not against the token system in general, it is just not enough for me. I miss the excitement if i open a chest and get, lucky hell, the most desired drop out of it. I miss the hope and disappointment before and after opening the chest, slaying the boss and so far…

I know the reasons why this is not in the game. They don’t want us farm the same dungeon over and over just for the hope of being lucky. They don’t want us farm the same events over and over again just because something special could drop.

But what we do now is farming the lands for goldies just to salvage them (for ectos), or throw our loot into the mystic forge, just for the hope of getting something useful (a goldie for example, or a weapon to create legendaries…)… this is just the same, but not as exciting..

now my suggestion:

please add rewards unique to some dungeons (or dungeons in general): for example the miniatures of Destiny’s Edge. It would be really nice if every dungeon chest could have the chance to reward us with a miniature of Logan, Rytlock, Caithe, Eir or Zojja. Or tradeable, eternal tonics. there are tonics in the dungeons, but those things are worth nothing, they just fill a spot in our inventories.
or add rewards for doing jumping puzzles and open jumping puzzle chests… A chance for getting something really nice, but COSMETICAL, and TRADEABLE.

Add some silly, rare items to the boss-event chests… miniatures, or weapon/armor skins (for example the lyssa temple event could drop a lyssa costume package if you are really lucky.)

as it is for now, i have my “checklists”. I know, i have to do the dungeon X about XX times to get what i want. I know i have to farm XXXXXXXX karma to get what i want. The checklists are fine, but this is not what it should be all about.

Everyone went invisible during WvW, including NPC's.

hey jason,
thanks for looking into it. Here my detailed description of the problem:

Description:

it looks like the models of the player and NPC characters do not load. Means that all, or many NPCs and Players are invisible, and so are their skill animations, red circles on the ground and so on. This happens in WvWvW but also in PvE.

if something is visible, what is it?
i try to make a ranking here.

1. party members, your character and ranger pets: mostly, your own party members are still visible, and so are ranger pets (enemy and ally). Your own character and your skill animations are visible all the time.
2. allies and allied NPCs: such as your own allied players in WvWvW to a small degree (this is better in PvE, there you can almost everytime see your allies), and also NPC guards, for example
3. static, normal Mobs are mostly visible too, but sometimes they appear really late.
4. Downed Allies and Enemies: mostly, an enemy body appears as soon as it dies, or goes down. Same with Mobs in PvE, you can see the bodies
5. enemy players and Event mobs (such as attacking waves). Sometimes they appear in the distance shortly, then disappear. Horrible thing in WvWvW.

How to create/reproduce this problem:

play the game. The longer you play, the worse it is. Could be some sort of memory leak.

What helps?

sometimes, re-log in is a good idea and may help. It is better after a log-in, at least for me, but it gets worse fast.

What does not help?

- update of the graphic card drivers did not help me (Nvidia)
- changing the graphic settings

Is the "Gift of Energy" Item soulbound?

in Players Helping Players

hey there.

i am working on the legendary staff “The Bifrost”, and because of that i need a Gift of Energy. I do have the materials, and also my friend is an artificier 400.

what i am asking before i give him my materials, and more important, before he buys the recipe for the gift from Myani, is:

Is the Item, Gift of Energy, soulbound or accountbound on acquire, or can it be traded? Never seen one in the auction house…

thx

there are many items in GW2 that are, either right from the start or after you equipped them, no longer salvageable.

an example: if you buy the level 80 vigil heavy armor, that armor is not salvageable. Means, once you equipped the expensive runes in it, you can not get those runes back, except with using transmutation stones (lvl 80 ofc).

what i would like to see is an information on those armors telling me that i am not able to salvage.

create rare (golden) items from masterworks (greens)

Myramar.8657

hey there.

i remember earlier in this game, there was a quite high chance for getting rares for combining 4 masterwork (green) items. Ofc, it did not happen everytime, but at least often enough to do it.

during the last days, i trow almost all my masterwork stuff into the mystic forge, but i did not get one single rare item from it. The items i trow in are not crafted, but random drops level 70-80.

anyone else experiencing this?

not happy with the overall personal storyline impressions

in Personal Story

Posted by: Myramar.8657

Myramar.8657

hello there,

i just wanted to give a quick feedback on the personal storyline. Ofc this is really subjective, so please accept my opinion as what it is, just an opinion.

first, the good things:
- there are some storyline missions i liked very much (for example the asura 1-30 missions, because Mr. Sparkles and Zojja are really awesome and funny. Also the “vision” mission where you go to Orr in the Vision of the Pale Tree was impressive!).
- Also i like almost all of the minor races and the storyline missions involving them. I like the Quaggans and Skritt the most i think, including the voice acting, the overall culture (such as the Skritt children are called “Kit”, or the “fighting Quaggan”)
- The voice acting is mostly OK.

now things i dislike:
- the progression speed: I think my character is progressing way too fast. What i mean by that: it feels like i just joined the university, bought a book and this graduated me instantly to a doctor. Or i just helped an old woman cross the street and this is why i now get the Nobel Peace Prize. You get a lot of recognition, too much if you ask me.
This feels really weird… I remember that i joined the Order of Whispers as an initiate, and just a few missions later i know the identity of the leader…

let me add comparisions to other games, where i think this was done much better:

1. In the Original Guild Wars Nightfall, you join the Sunspears. To progress in the storyline, you have to advance in Sunspear ranks. You can do this by doing quests that reward you with sunspear points. Here, you feel probably much more connected to the organization, you advance slower, you have to do more for your recognition.

2. In The Elder Scrolls games, you can join a variety of organizations, such as the Thieves Guild, or the Mages College. There, joining is easy, but to gain access to the really nice stuff (armors, weapons…), you have to advance in ranks too. You do this by doing Side-Storyline Missions for those Organizations, or fulfilling minor tasks.

what i miss, regarding the orders, is a real connection to the order. The storyline is rushing this so fast, i don’t really feel that i am an actual member of the Order. As soon as you think you are now with them, the storyline progress leads you into the Pact, and your Order is now “gone”.

- then i dislike the overall “you are the hero” thing. I am not against this in general, i just think they overdo it a bit. Ofc, i am awesome, but this does not mean i am perfect. My character should make mistakes. Yes, ofc, many NPCs you get to know die, but also here it goes so fast that you don’t really “feel a loss” because you have met them just in the same mission they die, or they are replaced that fast, and then forgotten by everyone. Or their Deaths are just that pathetic that you can’t take it serious (like the one that dies during the battle for lions arch….).
Also, if you make a mistake, the other NPCs just say “oh hey, thats fine, don’t worry. Oh, you let that Norn Woman die? No problem. Lets just go to hoelbrak and tell everyone what a hero she was, and how brave she died for the greater good.” This does not make me feel like a Hero, but rather like a jerk, and i think they must be joking.
In situations like that, i somewhat feel like “i am wrong in here. Everyone thinks i am a hero, they must take me for someone else. Oh no. And now they call me Commander”

and now what i really miss
i think the core decisions – race, profession, order- you make should matter trough the whole storyline. Here i miss profession-related stuff most. If you play a thief, you should have different options to handle stuff in the storylines than if you play an elementalist, or warrior. Same for the race. I just think a charr would handle most situations different than a sylvari.
In most high-level storylines, it does not matter what profession you are, or what race, or what order you joined. I just think a charr warrior who joined the vigil should do things different than a Human Thief who joined the Order of Whispers.
Because race, profession and order does not matter that much, the story does not really feel like it is really “my story”.

hey there.
There is an option in the “options” tab allowing to “fast-cast AOE skills” (this means the AOE goes there where your cursor is, if possible). I would take a look, maybe you have selected that option, or there is a bug that selected that option for you. You can probably just disalbe it again?

massive lag issues

in WvW

Posted by: Myramar.8657

Myramar.8657

hey there,

i experience massive lag in WvWvW, what makes this kind of PvP almost unplayable for me. However, i have no lag issues in other parts of GW2 (i have constantly something around 60-70fps, what is OK), but in WvWvW, my FPS drop down to around 5, and if i adjust my graphic settings to the minimum, it adds about 2-3FPS (what makes 7-8fps).

the biggest problem is probably that i can not see the enemies before it is too late. Means i am running around, until i see an enemy zerg pop up right in front of me. Or that i can see one or two single enemies on the field, but when i run there, the rest of the zerg pops up and i am dead again
Adjusting grapics does unfortunately not help here.

i played the beta, and it was better back then. Also right at the start, it worked better. I had lag too, but not that much. As it is for now, i can simply man the cannons to kill something (what is cool too).

various bugged Events and Tasks

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Myramar.8657

Myramar.8657

so, i filed about 100 bug reports on 100 different bugs, and since there was no server maintainance for about 6 days, i decided to make this topic here.

i am playing on Abbadons Mouth, currently i am trying to complete the Zone “Straits of Devastation”. For those who do not know, there are no tasks anymore in that zone (what could be good, because there are also a variety of bugged tasks). The frustrating thing is, that all 3 meta events (starting around Fort Trinity) are bugged. Every time, there is something that blocks the progress. The Npc can not move any further (or simply the Pack-Bull disappears), enemies from attacking waves spawn in a rock, what makes them invulnerable, or the next step of the event chain does simply not start, and you can’t do anything against this.

what i could do is changing the server, but i don’t want to do this (because i want to play with my guild, do dungeons).

See, i love the game. I am just worried, because nothing happens. I think a simple Reset could do the job, if there is no time to really fix the bugs. This would help all the people waiting for bugged skillpoint challenge fixes. It just does not feel good if you experience bugs all the time while playing. The lower level zones look so polished, immersive and the events there are just awesome, but then you progress, and you may see battles without enemies (the Jormag minion dragon event in frostgorge sound for example… the dragon was there i think. The cannons are still fireing, the npcs shouting, while the dragon is dead since 6 days), or you try to escort a carawan that does not move an inch, because the last enemy is invulnerable while sitting in a tree… (happened to me in Sparkfly fen for a few days. The event with the packbull transporting the bomb…)

Sometimes, it feels worse than beta test. See, the game is fun, and really nice overall, but there are some serious issues and i really hope this will get fixed soon.

action bars

Myramar.8657

what i really would like to see is an action bar players can place somewhere on the interface (it could be small, and placed above the skillbar, or on the left/right side of the screen). It does not have to be big, or contain many places.

But there is buff-food, tonics and a variety of consumables, and also emotes. For those things, an action bar would be perfect. So it would not be a problem if you can not drag weapons in it or something.

this is how it would work:
you can link up to XX items from your inventory to that action bar: miniatures, tonics, food, but you can link also actions such as emotes or toggle town clothing. Then, you can click on the button of the action bar, and the item is used, the action performed.

what is it good for?
simple, to use consumables you prefer easy with 1 click. Then, to perform emotes without having to type in something (for example you want to /wave at a player you just met in an event, or you want to /sit down fast. or for roleplayers to perform their most used emotes faster and without disrupting the chat-flow).

but we want to look on the game not the interface!
Yes, for sure. But you could make the icons small, similar to the options/tradingpost/guild and so far bar above.

crafting major runes?

is it possible to craft major/superior runes?

i am a tailor, and i can craft minor runes (combining jute with those rare materials such as destroyer silver). I tried using wool + higher tier rare materials but this did not work.

can someone help me out?
